Comment: A local Japanese goods shop & bento box place. This place is nice for a quick bite and takeouts. Can get pretty busy on weekends.I like their bento boxes - tasty and pretty healthy. Not anything super special or intricate but straight forward. Would recommend the salmon bento box and the chicken nanban bento box.If youre planning on dining in, keep in mind the dining area is more of a self-serve food court experience.

Comment: My new favorite “coffee place” in Greenpoint. The cappuccino was very good and the croissant was one of the best I have had. The place is beautiful, nice interior design. Next time I will definitely go to the restaurant as well and check out the food. They also offer so many beautiful things one could buy. The barista was very friendly and attentive and definitely made us feel welcome. We will be back.

Comment: Got a bento with a friend. The amount of food to price is good, and it tasted great. Never tasted the sauce they’ve put on the chicken before, but whatever it is it was amazing. The garden out in the back is a chill space, good for hanging out with others. Inside is good for doing work. If you order food, they give you a buzzer and you’ll come up and pick it up when it buzzes. Didn’t order drinks so I don’t know how those are, but looking at others they look like they’d also taste good.

Comment: I would recommend it to anyone who likes Japanese food. The food was so fresh and delicious. The interior, aesthetics, everything is perfect. The interior is very spacious and there is plenty of space between tables. The staff, service, food, everything you see is Japanese style. I ate vegetable katsu and chicken karaage lunch box, both of which were delicious.

Comment: It’s a very cozy cafe to post up and work on weekdays or read a book. The bentos are too expensive for what I think they are, so I would instead get the pastries or the sandwiches. The chicken sando and the egg sando are my favorite. Recommend to skip the miso soup unless you like a very vegetable forward, ginger forward broth.

Comment: It’s hard not to love this place. Coffee and tea in the front, very delicious Japanese food, and outdoor seating. The food runs a little pricey, that’s my only complaint. Katsu isn’t supposed to be a fancy $30 meal, ya know? But that’s more the fault of Greenpoint gentrification and their presumably insane rent and personnel costs. Anyway, no less love, just a less frequently visited place than if it were a bit more affordable.

Comment: Love Acre! Great addition to the neighborhood. The food is very fresh and delicious. Japanese bento box comes with different main options and includes rice, salad, and a vegetable side, must add the miso soup. It is a little pricey but the quality is amazing and the portion is filling. They have plenty of outdoor seating but it can get pretty busy especially on weekends. Working my way through the menu and everything has been excellent so far. Must order the nori waffle fries and coffee panne cotta.

Comment: 8/25/23 During waiting for street parking to be available. I finally, stopped by to have lunch at ACRE. I wasnt super hungry, so I choose salmon bento box. I was surprised that this place is self-service and so follow the trend. For self-service price, the price should be cheaper. The ambiance is great, very Japanese garden style. I was glad I went early the day because when I passed by before, this place always packed and crowded but this time it wasnt busy at all. You order food and drink at the counter and pay then they give you an alarm to notify you when your food is ready then you go pick it up by yourself and bring it back to your seat. This place looks like a cafe style more that restaurant. You can bring your laptop or any work to work there as long as you want. By the way food taste good and the quality is amazing.review on 1/4/23I just want to check out this restaurant, their menu is interesting, but I only have half hour left on my break, plus they close early so I dont have a chance to eat here. So I decided to just get a Cappuccino here. While Im waiting, I walk around a small cafe area seeing nice stuff they sell. The coffee taste nice and I will find the time to come back to eat at this place.

Comment: Really nice space with indoor/outdoor seating.Slightly confusing ordering system but it does work efficiently. The food is DELICIOUS. Perfectly cooked, great flavour profiles and the Brussels sprouts are really incredible with a sweet teriyaki touch and sesame. The veggie option has a shortcoming in the sense that it’s deep fried balls of potato with rice, which can get a bit heavy. But the katsu is perfectly cooked!

Comment: A nice dining room with cute backyard. No table serive for lunch which gives it a nice casual feel. Some drainage issues in the year yard made some tables inaccessible. Bento boxes were a perfect lunch that left us full, but not stuffed. Fried chicken was crispy juicy. I questioned tipping it with egg salad, but in the, I was quite happy. Would be 5 stars if it was more competitively priced.

Comment: Japanese bento style with ceramics and cafe style in the front and dining in the back with options for outdoor backyard patio seating. Food is well prepared and with typical Japanese preparation, detail oriented. If I lived closer to here, I would go so much more. If you have a dog, go to the backyard to eat. Such good vibes. I also bought a couple ceramic bowls from the front and they are BEAUTIFUL. Not too expensive. Great for gifts.

Comment: Good food and a nice atmosphere. We ordered a salmon & a chicken nanban bento with an ice coffee, iced hojicha, and hot sobacha. The food was quickly made, ready around 10 minutes after we ordered! Theres plenty of seats, and during the warmer months its nice to sit in their outdoor space and watch the birds flit around. Keep in mind that they close around 5 pm most days. They also have store space up front with various kitchenware like handmade bowls, plates, and utensils that you can buy. Surprised but very glad to find an authentic Japanese place in Brooklyn!

Comment: Party of 5. Went on a rainy Sunday and the line was at the door. Very popular place. Surprisingly we got a table after we ordered. Its a first come first order to get a table. For drinks, honey yuzu and hochicha were very good, 👍. Ordered pesto avocado sandwich, pork katsu bento, chicken curry bento, vinegar fried chicken bento box, and the salmon bento box. All were good but salmon was our least favorite. Came with salad, brussel sprouts, black (people colored rice), and pickled radishes. Portion size is good for breakfast. Not heavy.Service was nice. Its not a fancy restaurant but a rustic Japanese coffee breakfast shop. Would come again.

We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and while there was a bit of a line, it moved relatively quickly. We got the Fried Chicken and Vegetable Bento Boxes. Both were great. The fried chicken and potato bites both had a crispy exterior and the chicken was still juicy on the inside. The Brussel Sprouts in particular were well-seasoned and scrumptious. Comment: Omg so good and will return. Had the chicken karaage with the salad— a little pricey but not bad. I was surprised by how delicious it was and the salad had a Yuzu dressing that I’ve been trying (and failing) to recreate. Place is cute with its little shop. My family loved it and was also wow’ed by how good the chicken was.Our one complaint was that they put the rice in first on their bento boxes and by the time the meat was ready, the rice was cold, which my mom was upset by— I totally get it. Would’ve been nice if the salad was served first and then the meat, rice, and whatever side, to ensure all the food was warm by the time it was ready.

Comment: Spacious indoor dining area and nice backyard. Customers are welcome to pick some shishito leaves in the garden. Some Japanese tablewares along with snacks are also displayed for sale in the cafe area. The cafe offers housemade pastries. I tried the matcha almond croissant. It has matcha infused almond paste, which is really nice. However, the croissant texture failed, not flaky or crispy enough. It taste more like an overnight croissant;(

Comment: Acre is just so nice! Every aspect of this shop completely and utterly filled me with a sense of niceness…Offering a unique selection of Japanese goods, beautiful matcha tools and decadent soaps, it’s challenging to not splurge here. They have a gorgeous faema espresso machine- just beautiful! And use Sey coffee out of Bushwick so they’re keeping it local.Their pastries, baked on site completes this enchanting experience ❤️Very warm and friendly staff too…

Comment: UPDATE: Changing from 3 -> 5 stars. I came back and the chicken karaage sandwich was as delicious as ever and the food arrived incredibly quickly and during prime lunch hours!Placed an order for a karaage sandwich and a miso soup at the counter ~2:30pm - only one other table waiting on food at the time. I’ve been waiting for an hour now. Be prepared to wait!!Update: Food arrived and was /excellent/. If you’ve got the time it’s worth it but dang, don’t go hungry!

Comment: 4.5 stars. Such a lovely spot for a bite / look around the nicely curated shop. They sell some small housewares and kitchenwares as well as Japanese pantry staples. Both the egg salad and karage sandwiches were good, bento boxes look really tasty as well… just think it’s a little pricey. Service was great and there’s plenty of seating indoors and a nice garden out back

Comment: This is a Japanese Bento Box specialty restaurant. You order at the counter and they give you a buzzer to come pick up your food. Self seating. Outdoor seating. They do Coffee, Tea, baked goods, desserts, and Alcohol here. Food is good. Small portions. On the expensive side so bring your credit cards. Nice looking restaurant. Garden seating in the back which is nice. Staff is nice, but theyre there really for food preparation not table service. You have to clean up after yourself. Like a Japanese Chipotle 😆. We will definitely be going back.

Comment: I was really excited when I found this spot since they have homebaked pastries. I got a yuzu pound cake and a chocolate croissant. So far the review goes to 3.. but I added one star just to appreciate the vibes and expect their meal will be good..The yuzu cake missed something in between. The yuzu smell was there, but not strong, and that was all. The texture of the cake was collapsing, not dry but not moist. The croissant was too soft, more like a Japanese bun style in general. Pretty normal.Would like to try their meal next time.

Comment: This is another delightful Japanese restaurant. I was recommended this place because they offer authentic bento box, not just salmon teriyaki stuff.I had the fried chicken bento box and it was delicious. Delicious and tasty, two pieces were dark meat, two were white meat, and all of it was delicious. The rest of the menu looked very tasty too.The space itself is huge! Plus theres garden seating in back, the front is a cafe and store. A true gem in Greenpoint

Comment: Super cute restaurant, you order at the coffee bar, then pick up your food at the kitchen counter! like a fancy cafeteria lol I really enjoyed dining here overall, the food was good and the vibe was really nice for an afternoon lunch. we got the karaage bento and the karaage sandwich. both were delicious. also the yuzu juice and matcha muffin were to die for! i think they cook things to-order, we waited about 30-40 minutes for our food though (at 3PM), which resulted in us being pretty famished and hangry. wish the service was a bit faster but overall a must-visit!

Comment: Hidden gem. Quality and attention to detail are the best ways to describe the food at Acre. The Pork Katsu was tender and had the right amount of sauce. The dressing on the salad was light and refreshing, giving the greens a nice gingery zest in between bites of the hearty katsu. The bento boxes also come with purple rice and a couple selections of housemade pickled eggplants and radish. The Nanban Chicken is absolutely a must-try. The chicken is incredibly tender and juicy. The sauce takes the dish that extra mile. Just try the Nanban Chicken Bento Box. Do it.

Comment: ACRE is definitely a hidden gem with a great selection of high quality ingredients from Japan. There is currently outdoor seating available. The options on the menu were limited and we had 2 out of the 3 bento box choices: Pork Katsu Bento Box & Chicken Karaage Bento Box. The wait was about 15 minutes for preparing them freshly. The bento was delicate and delicious but it’s pricey with its portion. Both pork and karaage were fried properly with perfect layer, super juicy and flavorful.Their pastries look so appetizing, especially the croissant and we would like to try it next time. The business hours were kind of confusing for us because they are open 8am - 4pm daily but also serve take-out & delivery dinner after 4pm.

A bit pricey but very tasty. Also looks like they took another reviewers comment of using parchment paper so things dont stick to the box as my bento box had parchment paper under the rice and a couple of the sides. They also have a small market area with some gifts, alcohol, and organic produce for sale.Awesome place that looks like they actually listen to suggestions!
