The service has been really hit or miss, and have been more misses recently than before. The quality of the food-- even the warm appetizers, not just the sushi-- is still top notch.FEB2023 update: by the way, each order put in for a roll is an entire roll, not a single piece. Hope this intel helps someone avoid accidentally ordering about 700% more than they expected 😅The sushi is mid-to-high quality and there are lots of options to make the all-you-can-eat style even more worth it. Their appetizers and small plate orders are worth the charge by itself.I think this is the best AYCE style sushi places in Albany, and has enough appetizer choices to accommodate those who do not like fish or even sushi. Its always a great experience and truly a must visit. Bravo.

If it’s your birthday you eat free and they serve you an ice cream dessert with a candle to make a wish. Wasabi is an all you can eat sushi restaurant and you definitely get your money’s worth. The menu has all kinds of food options so there is something for everyone even gluten free and vegan rolls are available. You can request tamari a gf soy sauce for sushi 🍣 and sashimi. You must eat what you order or be charged more so pace yourself. We had beautiful salmon sashimi slices and tried a salmon hand roll as we love dried seaweed. The spicy roll was delicious and the chef took off the crunch for me so it was gf. Highly recommend going here for a fun time with friends & family.

Comment: My husband and I have been here probably around a dozen times. As far as sushi goes this is the best/freshest tasting in Albany. 75% of the time service is fast, friendly, and efficient. My only complaint is the other 25% of the time I have experienced servers forgetting to put an item in, being told our daughter cannot have ice cream until all other food is completed (she finished hers before us), and one time during lunch I felt a little rushed. Overall, the quality is worth it and it’s one of our favorite restaurants in the area hands-down.

Also, all of the special rolls in the midweekblunch menu include shrimp or crab so if you have a shellfish allergy like me there isnt much variety. However there are a number of tasty appetizers that are available too like the age tofu and the seaweed salad! If it wasnt so busy and loud this place would be 5* midweek.I gave wasabi another chance on a weekend and it was a whole different ballgame. Perhaps because the weekend menu is double the price of the midweek lunch menu but the restaurant was not crowded and the expanded menu included many specialty rolls without shellfish. You can also get sashimi on the weekend which is great. One weird thing.... age tofu if missing from the weekend menu, which is too bad because it was very good.

Comment: We had a great lunch at Wasabi today. One big thing that stood out was the outstanding communication and customer service that we received.. We arrived not too long before closing and were advised of their closing and food ordering policies to make certain that we were ok with that which we were and we were led to a table to be seated. Our waiter was very professional and friendly he ensure we had everything we needed and checked in on us periodically. Since their policies stated that we only had 20mins left to order we over ordered and hence were left with more food than we were able to eat. Another policy is that you have to eat the majority of what you order or get charged for the amount left on the plate which meant that we ended up getting charged for what was left. We had no problem doing so since we were clearly advised ahead of time of this rule. Communication and friendliness throughout our visit was great and the food was very good too. We will definitely be back but next time we will come earlier and order less.

Kent, one of the partners suggested some dishes and they were out of this world. The Mango fish was excellent as well as most of the other offerings. The specialty rolls are out of this world and everything was fresh. We drove about 2 hours to get there. Wish here was one in lower Dutchess county NY. The service is just like another reviewer said, hyper attentive, even with a packed room. Very clean and nice decor. The sushi is playful, fresh and innovative. The Mt. Fuji roll was my favorite. The mango roll is very sweet and makes a great ‘dessert’. Two slight cons, the restaurant is basically a huge square, nothing to absorb sounds so it can get noisy. Also, they do not currently serve alcohol. So not the best spot for a date night, but perfect for families, friends, and casual meals. Best place in the capital district for all you can eat sushi!Update!!! They now serve alcohol if you like sake or anything else. On our second visit our little guy loved the marinated beef, service was just as awesome and fast.

I really liked that the menus are laminated so you can use a dry erase marker and keep reusing vs filling out paper and throwing it away every time like Sushi-X. It was a combined effort of wait staff and they were good at telling when we needed/wanted more and when to give us time to enjoy our food.We ordered a round of appetizers including the shumai, coconut shrimp, rock shrimp, scallion pancakes, kani salad, a few pieces of sashimi, spring rolls, snapper jalapeno and mango salmon. For rolls, we just stuck to the special rolls and everything was fresh and tasty and came out promptly. I already cant wait to go back!

Definitely an improvement over nearby sushi X and Blowfish. Price is on par with other premium sushi chains in the area. Theyve got everything from yakitori (Japanese meat skewers) to sashimi to sushi rolls to fried rice/noodles and they have specialty sushi rolls as well. The inside was super clean, the staff were super attentive, and most importantly the food was delicious. Now that Ive been here I can say that it is one of my favourite sushi spots in Albany (plus who doesnt love all you can eat)!
