Comment: Loved this Japanese Restaurant. It is a beautiful space. The murals are beautiful. It is beautifully set up. The playlist they had on was very good. The service is wonderful. The food comes out quickly but at a good pace. You dont feel rushed. The food was 😋. I had the lunch special ($16) which includes choice of Soup or Salad, one roll (large selection) and an Entrée (choice of Salmon, Chicken, Tofu and Steak) they come with White Rice and Vegetables. I had the Miso Soup, White Tuna and Jalapeño Roll and Steak. The Vegetables that came with my Steak were Onions and Peppers. I dont know if its the same Vegetables on all the Entrées. I would think it is. Everything was made to perfection and beautifully presented. They also have other lunch specials and an A La Carte Menu. We only had water but they do have a full bar. Dessert was not included but we ordered it anyway. I had the Mochi Green Tea. The Ice Cream itself was Green Tea and it tasted great but I dont think I would order Mochi Green Tea again. My friend ordered Tempura Cheesecake. I tried a little piece. It was interesting. The Cheesecake was very creamy and sweeter than New York Cheesecake. This place is good for dining with others and also for Solo dining. I have to come back to try some things from their A La Carte Menu and to try one or two of their Cocktails.

Comment: Great spot for sushi! The patio space was great, and the whole visual vibe of the restaurant was open, trendy, and accessible. Service was quick and friendly. We split the pork gyoza, charred edamame, and purple potato fries with matcha mayo and they were all AMAZING!The spicy girl roll was my favourite. All the sushi was fresh and colourful, and tasted so good. Definitely recommend, and will keep on a list for future NYC visits.

Comment: This place is 100% a GEM.I came here after an appointment cause it caught my eye.I ordered the katsu curry lunch special and what a treat it was. The plate came with a soft boiled egg which was boiled perfectly. It was marinated in mirin and soy, very nice detail. The katsu was fried nicely. The chicken was moist and delicious. On the side was Bulldog brand sauce. OMG!!! No restaurant serves Bulldog sauce. Curry itself could have been slightly richer. $16 is ultra reasonable.I needed a little bit extra, so I checked the menu and found chutoro and otoro. Thats unheard of...I rarely find any restaurant serving either. Be aware that it is pricy, but its worth a try if youve never had it before.Staff is super responsive and friendly. When any of the servers saw my cup empty, theyd come over and top me off.The decor is reminiscent of Japan. The wood furniture and amber light really sets this place apart.Glad I stopped in for lunch.

Service was weird, I am not sure we actually had a dedicated server, multiple people taking orders, delivering food to the table, and filling my water cup only(I was on the end). And service was flat out terrible the first time I was here (server was clearly drunk and spilled sake all over the table, no compensation) we did get a new server at the end but it was not even acknowledge. I have had sushi here it was ok nothing special but did taste good. And the ramen was also ok, not the best bowl but also not the worse. Bathroom are clean.

Today she is in a mood for sushi so this restaurant is around my neighborhood.We have Sashimi Ozara, Kama island, Toro Dynasty, Pork gyoza, Purple Fries, Yaki shishito pepper and 2 bottle toro tempranillo torque.Food is good but at the beginning my friend complain about the waitress that she is not focus and looks like she is out of energy, she forgets lots of stuff like our share plates, napkins, glasses. But there is another waiter that came to our table and get the order or something we want.overall, I still like this restaurant. The location is right near McCarren park and they have dog friendly seat outside, after you walk your pup and you are hungry you can stop by this place.

Came with a group of four and was sat in their outdoor seating, but would recommend getting an indoor reservation as it is much warmer and ambiance is nicer.For appetizers, we shared the shishito peppers, and these were delicious. We would occasionally get an extremely spicy one, but it was still good. Drinks were good and personally got the lychee sangria which was delicious and would recommend.Shared a bunch of dishes, from getting a sashimi platter, which had wonderfully quality fish, to ramen, which was very warm and had a delicious broth, to sharing rolls.

Comment: First and foremost, my wife and I instantly fell in love with the place. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly, which was a huge surprise for a Saturday night. The restaurant was busy, but you’d never know. The service was so quick and efficient, it almost felt like as soon as we placed our order, it was ready. Now then, our dinner was primarily sushi and the fish was very fresh. You could tell that this is a labor of love for the owner / chef, the fish was just fresh, even the “plain” rolls (spicy salmon for example) just tasted better. It’s all in the fish.All the rolls, the yellowtail jalapeño, the seasoned edamame, ube fries…spectacular, the presentation was lovely as well!Everything was amazing, there’s not enough good things I could say about Amami! We will be back again soon!

Comment: Pretty good sushi, this is my fancy place to go for it. They are a little bit more than average in the neighborhood by around a few dollars. What makes me subtract a star is it is more of a scene with louder music in recent months than before. Drinks are expensive and bordering on weak I usually only have one then a beer. Service is great and fast.The size of the pieces and freshness are worth it. So if you are a Gen Xer you might not like the club like noise while trying to speak to your table. I havent sat outside in their shanty town so I do not know how loud it is there. The photo attached is my usual plus a roll added.

Comment: What an amazing find this was! My boyfriend and i went here for dinner the other night, and we were blown away by how good the food and service was! I dont remember having such a positive experience in a restaurant, even pre-pandemic times.. We decided to go for a tapas kinda dinner so we ordered almost all of the appetisers and the mango salad. Every single dish was beautifully presented and tasted amazing which is not always the case in most situations.. We really loved all the dishes but the Miso Glazed Black Cod was truly delicious it just melts in your mouth! Also the pork buns, purple potatoes and short rib Negimaki were absolutely delicious too. (I forgot to take photos, we dug right in!)And on top of that we were blown away by the service- we felt like the waiters were really taking care of us, anticipating our needs, always keeping our waters full and making sure we were happy with our cocktails and dishes. Honestly, everything was top notch. After complementing the food to the waiter we were approached by the manager (Claire) and chef (Nick) who were lovely, so THANK YOU for making our night feel really special! So i just had to leave a comment cuz they really deserve it. Keep up the amazing work and we’ll definitely be coming back!

Comment: How have I not reviewed Amami yet? I love this place. I love the food, the ambiance, the drinks, the location... Ive come here with big groups, with one friend, with my husband; Summer or winter, rainy day, snowy day... Its been consistently good. Ive gotten takeaway... I just love this place. I feel like Im pretty picky about sushi and ramen, and I have loved everything on the menu. Every meal Ive had when bringing a new friend, they remark - wow that was pretty good. I love it and hope you will too when you try it!

Comment: My family and I had Sunday dinner night at Amami. Overall, it was a lovely experience. The interior of the venue combined the elegance Japanese design with its hip Brooklyn flavor. The food was delicious. We had the Yakatori to start, which was grilled to perfection. The sushi/ sashimi for two was beautifully presented with a fresh sampling of a variety of fresh fish and house rolls. Our server Aphen was knowledgeable and thoughtful with his recommendations. The cocktail program presented a Japanese twist on traditional cocktails. Bartenders were warm and friendly. The owner/ chef came over to our table to greet us and see how we were enjoying our meal. You can tell he really cares about the guest experience and his craft. Dessert (my favorite part of every meal) was a perfect way to end with the tempura fried red bean ice cream and cheese cake. From start to finish, it was a great experience.

Comment: Tonight was my third time at this restaurant, and I am certain of several things. First, the food overall is next-level delicious. Everything from the miso soup (YES, the miso soup was worth mentioning) to the various sushi platters (try the peanut-butter avocado, if youre adventurous) to the dozen or so desert options was incredible. Second, the staff is great. My waiter (Abdallah, such a great guy) was a beaming bundle of information, and the manager took some time to talk to us about a variety of topics. Last, atmospherically, you cant go wrong. Theres a bar, tables by the glass facade overlooking the park, and also tables further inside the restaurant permitting a little bit of privacy. The place is cozy, yet not cramped; quaint, but with enough room to vary your experience. Also, after youve eaten your weight in lovely Japanese food, you have two parks just a stones throw away to meander off the best itis youll encounter all year. One of my new favorite restaurants in Brooklyn, and definitely my favorite sushi spot.

On a sunny afternoon, you can sit in the window, enjoy some sushi or yakitori or ramen along with the view.This place has a nice atmosphere with lots of wood finishes and funky lighting. Amami sets itself apart from many of the other neighborhood sushi spots due to Chef Nicks passion for all foods.We struck up a conversation when I visited for lunch. His menu hosts both traditional and innovative dishes. He is a bluefin tuna expert a skill he mastered working at the classic NYC Japanese restaurant Hatsuhana. They serve a tasting of seasoned fish with a chart that explains what each fish is so you know what youre eating. It helps you get more of an understanding of sushi and varieties of fish. He makes a not-too-hot secret chili sauce for their ramen that his customers have grown addicted to. Make sure you ask for it.They have a fun dishes like a big eye tuna taco in a spinach shell with a Sichuan peppercorn aioli and the spicy tuna on avocado toast. Be sure to try their ramen, its quite tasty too.Definitely popular for lunch, even during the week.

Comment: Nick also owns Ako on Bedford Ave. My husband and I have gone to Ako once a week for about 5 years for its delicious healthy brown rice sushi and incredible customer service. When we found out about Nicks Plana to open a more upscale/trendy sushi spot nearby, we couldnt have been happier. We love how much he cares about both his food and his employees. People seem happy and relaxed working with Nick. Service is personable and staff remember guests from visit to visit. We adore both restaurants, and, as vegans, have found an incredible array of delicious heath foods.
