Comment: We loved our dinner here, the service was excellent (friendly, unobtrusive, someone always present when you needed anything). Ordered a recommended bottle of cold saki and it was perfect. Didnt order any sashimi, but found every roll (mostly raw) to be generous with fish and avocado, the sauces to be well seasoned (vs overly sweet or mayo-y). We ordered a lot, including pepper tuna which was different (lightly pepper seared tuna served over seaweed salad) and really good. Compared to other places of similar quality, this is also the most reasonably priced sushi we have had in the last 3 years. Definitely going back when in area.

Comment: I ordered the chicken teriyaki lunch special and it was a giant portion. It was pretty good overall, but the vegetables kind of just tasted like hot water. My spouse got variations of sushi, and he seem to really like it. For takeout, they gave a generous enough portion of wasabi without us asking. I got the cheesecake tempura and it kind of just tasted like hot cream cheese. But the fried crust on it was really good!

Comment: It is hard to find quality sushi outside of New York City. Stumbled upon Bonsai by accident and I was pleasantly surprised. Fresh, quality fish and generously sliced (salmon sushi). Sushi rice was well seasoned and at the prefect temperature. Reasonably priced as well. Can’t say enough good things about this place. Will definitely go back next time when I’m in the area. P. S. There were public outdoor seatings right outside Bonsais next to a Starbucks. Win win!

Comment: This is our go to place for sushi in the area. The service is fast and the food is always fresh. We love the salmon avocado, shrimp tempura roll and spicy salmon avocado sushi. But everything is always super delicious …. the outdoor seating area is perfect on a beautiful day and you can bring your dog along ….. they are super pet friendly. You will be very pleased to see how much love they will show towards your four legged creature.

My waiter was extremely attentive and even gave me tableside soy sauce pouring which I’ve never seen before LOL! I will definitely be going back again and again if the quality and service remain as great as this.EDIT: I ate here again today and tried out all nigiri and a salmon skin hand roll. This place is my new favorite sushi restaurant by far in this area. The pieces are like the ones in Japan, HUGE!!! And I can’t stress enough how fresh everything is. Bon appetit!! 🤌

Comment: Yummy food at a great price. Fresh and quickly prepared. Prettily presented. No fancy ambiance. Simple small indoor space for 15-20 people but comfortable outdoor dining is available. Great for families. Good for a casual first-date. Their 2 or 3-roll lunch special is a ridiculous deal. So go before 4:00pm to try for the first time. You’ll definitely be back. Smiles are worth a whole star to me. That’s why there’s one missing. There are now 3 Bonsai locations along Rte 9. I’m reviewing only the original location. Not wheelchair accessible.

Comment: Weve eaten there number of times and its always very pleasant and the food is fantastic! My friend cant have seeds or anything so theyre always so good about not putting sesame seeds in any of the rolls we get! The prices are reasonable too! I would highly recommend this to anyone

Comment: I eat at this one and the one on 6th St. all the time. I always call in my order and it is usually done by the time I get there. The Barnett location has a more extensive menu. I go there when I want the Sushi Bento. Yum. At the other location I usually order the terriaki chicken or beef. Both are awesome. Everyone is always friendly. Especially my favorate waitress Gina. She will always greet you by name and make you feel like you are a VIP. I guess there is another location in Ashland but I have not been to that one. A friend of mine says he likes that one best. Ill have to try it someday but for now Im happy with the two Medford locations.
