Comment: One of the best asian restaurants around the locality. I wanted to eat vegetarian so they were able to accommodate me and remove meat and change broths to make it vegetarian. Love the vibe and the servers are prompt and super helpful in recommending the food options. I almost forgot my credit card and they kept it safely and found me at the bar downstairs to return it back to me.The food and cocktails were delicious. There is some wait time but it gets cleared pretty swiftly. Would visit again.

Waiter was very attentive and was worried that we had ordered too much. The restaurant setting is amazing. Had the sole and the monkfish. Both outstanding. Comment: Overall very positive experience. We did a tasting menu (which I would highly recommend to get a bit of everything). Some things on the tasting menu were very good, but others were so-so. I really enjoyed the edamame dumplings, sizzling short rib, and Alaskan black cod but thought the lobster spring rolls, general tso’s dumplings, and vegetable rice were just okay. Still overall happy with my dining experience (and oh so full… the portions were more than enough), but not all dishes wow’ed me. One other thing to note is the service - SO good. We loved our server!!! She was so nice and so accommodating to our table’s dietary restrictions. She chatted with us and just made us feel so comfortable. Huge props. Also of course the darker vibes in the restaurant with the not-too-loud music was awesome too. Overall would still recommend you try this place!!!

We really enjoyed our time there.The black pepper beef is excellent!One important thing to note though, we were definitely disappointed with the desserts. Desserts were quite « basic » and didn’t seem to be really thought through, I don’t recommend them whatsoever. They don’t live up to the rest of the restaurant.

Comment: Apparently a scene of sex and the city was filmed here?? Edamame dumplings were divine and had something truffle in it (according to the group), not a lot on the GF menu but the hamachi, vegetable fried rice, lamb chops gluten free, and cod were amazing. All the food we got was great according to the group. service was a bit rough as it took almost an hour to get our drinks etc. silver lining is half our group showed up late and they still sat us. Ideally (chef preference) Food is ordered at once and served as it came out and we made good choices for a meal. Server let us order everything and then outlined for me what was gluten free, if that’s a preference in a large group.

Comment: I had an incredible time celebrating my significant other. I’m a vegan and he’s a carnivore but we were both able to enjoy a delicious meal. The appetizers were a perfect portion size to share or enjoy individually. The entrees are delectable and large. The rice was such a large portion size that my significant other and I were able to share one order of rice. The dessert was my favorite part of the entire meal. Normally restaurants don’t have vegan dessert options, especially not high quality dessert options for vegans but Buddakan went above and beyond to happily surprise me with a mango treat. My s/o and I fine dine regularly but this was one of my favorite dining experiences ever. The ambiance is awesome and the service is top tier. I would only suggest adding additional bathroom stalls on the first floor and/or have a sign to notify people of the additional restrooms on the lower level.

The menu offered innovative dishes that skillfully blended traditional Asian flavors with a contemporary twist.For cocktails, my partner and I tried the Indulge and Royal, and while the presentation was alright, the drinks were undeniably delicious. As for starters, we savored the General Tao’s dumplings and the Chili rock shrimp. Both were a perfect introduction to the culinary journey we were about to embark upon. For our main course, we indulged in the Mongolian lamb chops, Broken chili chicken, and Vegetable fried rice, all of which were flavorsome and satisfying. To top off our meal, we chose the Pistachio cremoso for dessert, which was an absolute delight.Throughout our dining experience, our waiter stood out for being not only friendly but also remarkably knowledgeable and attentive. We came here for brunch on a Sunday and it was delicious. Lobster roll. White wine. Crisp day. Sunny. Service was attentive. Food was bomb. We came in hungry and left happy. Comment: Buddakan never fails to disappoint me!!! I just have 2 words: Oxtail Dumplings!! OMG. My most recent trip there I tried the Sea Bass which was pretty good the Applewood gave it that nice smoked flavor, my friend had the short rib and it was melt in your mouth amazing. We shared lobster fried rice and it was nice. There was nothing g extraordinary about the rice, but it was enjoyable. I found it to be light and not overly greasy. In the past Ive had the lamb chops and they are delicious. Id definitely go again and again. The ambience itself is an experience. This trip was my first time during the day but Id absolutely recommend you going at night. The hogwarts/midievel energy is an entire vibe.

Comment: Been here twice with groups of 12-24 people. They manage that really well without going to a set menu. In the large dining room we sat at a table that has been flown in from the middle ages, under massive chandeliers that are suspended from a 30+ feet high ceiling. The light also signals dark ages but the architecture is more Oriental with touches of Medici art. The cuisine is a similar fusion.

The Peanut Noodles were ok, nothing special.One of the coolest places i‘ve been regarding the atmosphere for sure. Comment: This was a great overall experience. The restaurant has a “night club” type vibe with music and lighting. They first take you into a lounge while they prepare your table. When you’re seated the vibe and atmosphere are equally as amazing as the food. The oysters in the picture were so delicious I practically had a foodgasm with each one. The apps, drinks, entrees and deserts were all amazing. I wish I lived closer to make this a regular stop and enjoy it more often. I highly recommend a reservation as it was pretty crowded. I can’t wait to come back!

The dimly lit entrance opens into a mezzanine staircase that overlooks an expansive dining room with ornate chandeliers. It truly is a breathtaking sight, and every time we take someone who hasnt gone to Buddakan before, we love their reaction.We ordered the Edamame dumplings, which had a soft exterior and a smooth, creamy texture on the inside. The General Tsos dumplings were flavorful and soupy, and we loved it. The Carrot Dumplings were average in taste and disintegrated quickly, but their presentation was fantastic. The broken Chili Chicken was soft and juicy, which i personally liked a lot, but may feel undercooked for some palates. We also ordered the Spicy Peanut Noodles (excellent cold noodles that were immensely flavorful), Will Mushroom Chow Fun (one of our favorites), and Crispy Tofu.To top it all off, our server Chris did an excellent job taking care of us and made us feel special. It truly was the best meal weve had in recent memory. Highly recommend!

Its definitely a luxurious and special place to go to, and I would recommend it for an intimate dinner or even a larger group party. Our server, Richard, was extremely knowledgeable and gave helpful information on how much to order for 3 people. It is highly recommended to order family style and try a bit of everything! Both my friends were vegetarian and although it looks like there aren’t as many veg options, Buddhakan is VERY accommodating at modifying dishes to suit vegetarians. We ordered the wok tossed noodles(veg), veg fried rice, tai Shan cauliflower, broken chili chicken (just ok), and crispy tofu. Drinks were the frozen and the royal. For the chicken it would have been nice if the flavor was marinated into the chicken cutlet instead of just as a sauce on the side. Cauliflower lollipop appetizer was AMAZING.

So the dumplings were really good and we tried quite a few different kinds and found all delicious. Egg roll, not so great…kind of dry and lacked taste. We ordered the duck feast which, as the name suggests, consists of several duck dishes, in order of appearance: duck soup, duck spring rolls, duck salad, duck rice and lastly the roast duck.Every dish was delicious. The duck salad in particular had some crispy duck skin which added to the flavor and crunch. The roast duck was enough for two people on its own. Its served with some sweet duck sauce, veggies and dumpling wrappers.The pre fixe meal is good for two people or more. The food and atmosphere are out of this world, and they have an excellent selection of specialty cocktails! During my most recent visit to Buddakan, I ordered the Peking duck, which was especially fun to share with my brother. The Spicy Yellowtail Yu Sheng (yellowtail sashimi) was incredible; my sister-in-law enjoyed it just as much as I did. I recommend ordering at least one type of dumpling because they make them exceptionally well here! The environment is exciting but very chill. From phenomenal art tapestries covering almost every wall to elaborate chandeliers, the setting is dramatic in the most incredible yet relaxed way possible. Comment: A hot spot in NYC you cannot miss. The interior design is gorgeoussss, the lighting is romantic and the vibe is hype. We liked most of our dishes, but chicken and fried rice in particular. Buddakan, you got great staff too😊 my only recommendation is to improve the reception desk. We had to wait a while to be let in cause girls were busy on phone 🤨

Comment: Are you ready for the 411? Here we go…took my family out for dinner for my daughter’s birthday and let me say in one word….AMAZING! First of all, the level of attention placed in the customer experience was extraordinary to me. We choose to go with the Tasting Menu IV which gave us the ultimate tasting experience with a 4-course meal. I would highly recommend this especially if it’s your first time and with a group.. Our server, Shanna, was extremely attentive to our every needs. The appetizer were a great starter…leading to the other dishes and one after the other it was more and more amazing. Everything was well seasoned and perfect to the taste. The dessert was another show stopper especially the cheesecake. The pictures taken do not even do the food just but just trust me Buddhakan does not disappoint. Great experience!

Comment: Eating at Buddakan is one of my favorite Chelsea dining experiences. The main part of the restaurant is downstairs, and the ceilings are incredibly high. The candles and chandeliers are gorgeous. And the wait staff is amazingly nice!My family and I had a family style meal where we all got to taste everything. It was more than worth the price. The standout was the edamame dumplings!10/10! I can’t wait to go again in the future.

Comment: From the minute we walked in the restaurant had such an intriguing darkness and lux vibe to it. We started at the bar since we arrived early and the bartender, Brock, was nice and poured our drinks right away. I had the Blush which was a delicious Lychee martini essentially. We settled up at the bar and we escorted to our table. The venue is huge and has really cool vases and decor everywhere. Throughout the night, the service provided by Devondas was smooth and the timing of everything was seemless! This place really knows how to do it! Beyond that you definitely get what you pay for because the food is cooked to perfection and the portions are just the right amount of generous. If you are looking to spend money on a high quality dinner and enjoy eachothers company, I highly recommend having dinner here!

I could probably eat five of those all on my own. :-)After being away from NYC for a couple of years (cuz… yknaw… pandemic), it was nice to know some things haven’t changed.We are huge fans of Stephen Starr — his restaurants never disappoint.Buddakan still serves amazing dishes! We savored every bite while admiring the magnificent atmosphere.Our server was friendly, patient, and accommodating. It was a very, very busy night; yet, she managed to take such good care of us and her other tables. Her friendly temperament was authentic.Now that we are able to travel again, we will continue put Buddakan on our list.

Book in advance if you want decent seating. Staff was friendly our waiter was helpful as well.Wife and i had a great experience. Food was very delicious and of quality.We eat Halal food so we kept everything vegetarian basically. However the tofu crispy entre was amazing, i almost didn’t think it was tofu. Also had the lo mein and cod fish dish. Both were great in taste and the sauces added a very long lasting impression in your mouth.We finally ended with the Crying Chocolate dessert. It was perfect in flavor. It was not flooded with overly sweet flavor where you feel almost sick.

The waiter was very friendly and did explain everything well.At the location they did have outdoor dining, but the experience inside was still amazing. They had many seating areas, and also a bar area. The suggestions the waiter made about the food was a bit much, because if I just had the wok noddles with prawns that would have been enough for me. I would come back and try the other menu items and the drinks, they were my favorite!

Comment: Absolutely delicious food, never once had a bad experience here. Highly recommend all their dumplings, the rock shrimp, the eggplant and the spicy tofu. Their drinks are also very good. The only issue with this place is that they often double book so you end up waiting anywhere between 30-60 mins for a table, even if you made a reservation. Barring that, it’s a great spot, delicious food and good service, so would highly recommend especially for group dinners!

Comment: Outragiously expensive. Had the Chefs tasting menu cost was $250... But every dish that came out which was something like 12 courses was absolutely amazing. They ask you if you have any preferences or if theres something that you would like to avoid or if you are a vegetarian or something that you would prefer.... Then 1 by 1 the dishes come out, The even surprise me with a special drink.. Absolutely fantastic experience and everybody should do it At least once in their life.Waiters were extremely courteous and where no one had to change the table, They were accommodating. Atmosphere was phenomenal

Comment: Great vibes. Large, beautiful restaurant. I ordered Lobster Spring Rolls (which were much bigger than I thought theyd be for an appetizers) and the Wok Noodles with Prawns. Both were delicious 😋. The Blush was a yummy non-alcoholic drink and I appreciated seeing non-alcoholic options on the menu.The lighting was a little too low, making it hard to see. And the music was eclectic but not in a good way. Changes randomly too often to allow it to fall into the back of your mind as background music. I kept paying attention to it when it got weird. Service was pleasant. Overall, I would return. :)

Comment: This is where you go if you want to impress someone. Incredible interior design (just wow) and service. Food: top notch. My favorite part was actually that they have non-alcoholic cocktails. THANK you.The dishes are meant to be shared but be warned that portions are small (if you’ve got 5 people, a dish will be a couple bites each). For a date, it’s plenty. Someone got proposed to at the table next to us—it’s that kind of place.
