Highly recommend the chirashi, it was delicious, although expensive. My note is that the sushi nigiri are extremely tiny (especially for the price) so if you get a medium platter for 2 you will be hungry.Kudos for having paper boxes and cutting single use plastic.

Comment: The main thing that threw me off about this place was how small the nigiri sushi was. We ordered a sushi dinner special that came with 16 pieces of sushi. They were half the size of normal sushi. They also don’t give the standard assortment of sushi. There was no unagi or shrimp sushi. Instead we had 6 pieces of the same fish which I think may have been snapper. It came with a dragon roll that was very tasty. So my advice is to stick with the rolls at this place. Don’t bother with any nigiri sushi as they’re the smallest you’ll have at the same price point of other places. Also, do not order the chestnut Mille crepe cake. The tempura cheesecake was awesome.

Comment: One of my favorite sushi spots in Brooklyn. Underrated. Incredibly authentic. Upscale dishes in an unassuming atmosphere. You’ll find one of a kind specials here that are hard to find anywhere else. We ordered both specials on the menu. I can’t tell you what the sushi was but it was amazing. The other special was the dobi mushi, similar to a chawanmushi but instead of a custard it’s a broth with a mixture of exotic seafood and mushrooms. The broth is clear and fragrant. The seafood was fresh and perfectly cooked. Also this is the first time I’ve had fresh ikura. If you ever get a chance, I would highly recommend it. Most ikura you find in restaurants come frozen and processed. This was a special dinner so we went all out but no regrets it’s one of the best meals I’ve had all year.

I took a chance figuring fish quality might be worse during this pandemic and had the Chirashi - the fish was amazingly fresh and some very unique flavors happening in the rice there! Comment: This neighborhood has changed a lot for past few years and a girlfriend of mine took me here to try this new place. Actually this restaurant opened more than a year and definitely a neighborhood gem. We arrived around 6pm and we are able to seat immediately, we ordered a Japanese sake to kick off the dinner. The wine, sake selection are good and the prices are decent. We ordered the grilled yellowtail collar and eel to begin with, and both dishes are nicely prepared and I will come back to order again. We shared a Sashimi combo (medium) as our main courses and they gave great quantity of Sashimi, very nice and fresh and good variety of different seasonal fishes too. The desserts menu are excellent too, they made their own desserts, Matcha Tiramisu, Coconut & Matcha Panna Cotta with fresh strawberry sauce and the homemade almond tofu. It is worth to go back again. The overall space is comfy and cozy and perfect for gathering or hang out at the bar. Street parking is good too!

We got Sushi that you can order either for 30/55/75 or a 100$, we got it for 100. We got a lot of sushi, chefs choice and it was amazingly good. The fish is very fresh, many varieties but also good quality, e.g. the tuna has no stringy texture at all. The portion is generous, full later of sashimi on a bed of rice, but not just sushi rice, it comes with a spread of minced eel and picked daikon. Will visit the restaurant one day!

Out of all the appetizers we ordered, Id definitely recommend the pork buns. The pork was incredibly soft and tender, and it went well with the fluffy buns and the sauce used.We also got a large amount of rolls and sashimi (sashimi pictured below). While the presentation itself was certainly beautiful, more importantly, the fish was of great quality. The fish tasted fresh, had no fishy smell to it, and was super tender. The fatty salmon pieces were so soft and fatty that it was almost difficult to pick up, but the taste was fantastic and well worth the effort. The rolls were great as well - again, you could taste the fresh fish.We also got dry aged rib-eye steak, and while you wouldnt normally trust steak in a restaurant known for their sushi, I would recommend that you try it here! It was well-seasoned and was cooked to a beautiful rare. It came with a large piece of broccoli and mashed potatoes on the side. A few members in my party couldnt eat raw fish, but they were quite satisfied with the flavors of the steak.For dessert, we got their homemade ice cream, panna-cotta, and almond tofu. The green tea ice cream had what I think were matcha flavored bits, which added a nice textural and flavorful element to an otherwise creamy ice cream. The panna-cotta had a coconut layer, a green tea layer, and a strawberry sauce on top with some mango pieces sprinkled on top. It was soft and creamy and the coconut section has actual coconut pieces in it. A few members of my party thought the strawberry sauce was a little too strong and overpowering for the panna-cotta, but its well worth a try if youre craving something creamy! The almond tofu is not for everyone as the sauce is more of a traditional flavor compared to the other desserts. It comes with kuromitsu, a black sugar syrup (like the sauce for the waterdrop cake). If youre into that type of traditional flavor like I am, then youre sure to enjoy this dessert. The flavors were simple but satisfying. If youre not into this type of traditional flavor, Id suggest trying another dessert instead like the ice creams or the panna-cotta.Lastly, the service was fantastic!! I could not be happier with the service. The food came out in timely intervals (keep in mind we had made our orders well in advance), our cups were constantly filled with water whenever low, and the servers were incredibly nice and welcoming.While the food can be a bit pricey, this is a great place to celebrate a special occasion as you will have a great time trying the food here.

Theres an attention to detail and to guest enjoyment that extends beyond whats typically seen in the US, especially on the East Coast.Examples include the power sockets for guests and the chopstick holders, but most of all in the attitude of the staff. Theyre not there to pretend to like you or to fill the day before hating themselves - they seem to sincerely care about enabling guests to enjoy themselves.The purple potato fries are interesting, but I wouldve liked more sauce.It would be good to see more detail on the menu, as sometimes I was unsure what I was getting.There is a decent selection of beer on tap, including Sapporo :)

A little pricey for the area but it was worth every penny. Far better than MoMo next door. The seaweed salad was fresh and crunchy. The spicy tuna special roll was really nice as well. Miso soup was very flavorful and the sashimi far exceeded my expectations. I couldn’t be happier with Bushniwa! Such a cool interior. You can tell the owners put a lot of work into making the place special. I look forward to coming here in the future. Be sure to check out the back room as well. Great lunch specials too!
