Comment: My kids are Hibatchi-obsessed! Every city we go to on our travels, they ask if theres a hibachi restaurant. And I love it because its one of the few meals everyone is happy to eat AND it keeps them entertained. Flame is definitely at the top of our list. Our chef was adorable and talented and the food was delicious! (Which is the main problem with most hibachi places) Everything was really yummy and I was so happy to see all three of my kids gobbling everything up. It is on the pricey side but I think thats just NYC prices, nothing out of the ordinary.

They quickly take our orders, and the appetizers were given to us within the next 10 minutes. The chefs were all so enthusiastic and entertaining! Comment: I avoided going to Flame for many years as I’m normally suspicious of ‘Asian’ catch-all restaurants that attempt to serve food from such a large and complex range of cuisines, but Flame has proven there is an exception to the rule! The food is consistently good whether you’re ordering sushi, ceviche, Thai, or dim sum. Staff are lovely and go out of their way to provide great service. Although it’s on the pricey side, it’s now one of our regular places for family dinner.

When we moved to the upper west side we were looking for a sushi spot and tried them all and weren’t impressed. We came across Flame and were hesitant because it’s a hibachi place that does sushi and Chinese. Those are typically not the best. We took a chance and it is hands down the best spot for both sushi and Chinese on the UWS. It’s been our go to spot for take out for a few years now and they haven’t disappointed us yet. We never tired the hibachi but I’m sure it’s delicious as well.

I loved that it had the right amount of heat in the dish, just enough to keep eating without needing to drink. Good portion size for $13 mid-week lunch special.Comes with soup or salad, on this chilly day i went with the miso soup, it was nice.Pork soup dumplings (4)- they were good but the dumpling was thin, so its easily broken before it makes it into the spoon, so be careful, ehAnd some nice hot green tea!Service was good as well.I will return!12/10/21 first time here.I had the lunch special Longevity noodles w/chicken. It was good and a good deal for a lunch special. Service was quick, Christopher my waiter, was really efficient and I saw him taking care of pretty much all the tables in the place and he had it under control.Ill be back to try the pork soup dumplings!

Comment: Coming from Singapore I had very high expectations of Quality Japanese Teppanyaki and I must say Flame did not disappoint. The wife and I had this image in our head of a quirky chef cooking on the Hibachi and tossing food and jokes around plus having fresh, quality meat and vegetables with amazing flavour. Flame delivered it all. How I wish we had Japanese Teppanyaki close to this in Singapore and not the overrated stuff we get there. Very friendly management and staff. Kudos guys I will be recommending this as a must visit for everyone I know visiting NYC!

Comment: Flame is more than a bit on the pricy side...and TOTALLY worth it.Okay, to be honest, the yellowtail and jalapeno roll was good, but far from one of the best sushi rolls Ive ever had. But that said, everything else was fabulous. I ordered the Flame sushi combo (six pieces of nigiri and a salmon / avocado roll) and it was divine. I tend to measure a sushi restaurant by the quality of its tuna, and this was mild and fatty and just what I want. The salmon has that nice buttery quality that good salmon should have, and went very well with the fresh avocado in the roll. The yellowtail was flavorful without being overly fishy.Beyond that, the service was very quick and efficient, and the ambiance was quite nice, elegant in that fairly austere Japanese way. Definitely recommended.

Best pan-Asian restaurant on the UWS and probably one of the best in the city. It’s my favorite choice for sushi, but everything on the menu I’ve tried is excellent.Big menu with lots of interesting choices. Their sauces in particular are noteworthy, like that which comes with the Indian Roti and the one with the Panko Fried Chicken Breast. The Miso Octopus is very good, as are the Chicken Satay and Pineapple Fried Rice. As a sushi appetizer, I like the Ahi Tuna dish a lot, which is really a salad.Service is good and the high quality of food is consistent.

Comment: So we went to this place on a whim and I was happy with the service and the food. The staff was extremely nice and attentive even though it seemed they were definitely really busy. Went for lunch to have hibachi. I was a little disappointed the fried rice was extra but at the same time hibachi came with an appetizer (which for me had never happened before at a hibachi restaurant). They had a really good variety of things to choose from as well so it compensated for the extra charge. Over all I was really happy with the experience especially since they didnt drench the food in sauce. You actually could taste the food for what it was. Good food, excellent staff and overall a good experience.

Comment: Perfect ambiance, lighting is great. Quality food, great taste, outstanding Asian combination of elements. The only downside is that while all tables are free and empty, host or servers will sit you in a very small section of the restaurant, just inches away from the other clients.. (literally inches) and then there is no oportunity for a private talk or personal conversation. I could perfectly hear a couple on their first date and all the intimate details of their introductions.

Comment: Overall a great dining experience. I would recommend this for a small birthday gathering. The hibachi grills werent crowded and the service was relatively swift. I recommend the Asian plum cocktail listed for $14 at the time. It is sweet but very enjoyable. I recommend the avocado salad if you love avocados. Additionally, I tried a few sushi items from the main menu, not included on the hibachi menu. Spicy Salmon, Crunch Spicy Salmon, Oshinko and Yellow Tail sushi rolls were my choices. The Oshinko roll was a delicious new addition to my palate. There were two oversights in the dining experience. 1. The salads that come standard with the hibachi meals did not come ahead of the main course, they simply forgot to bring it. 2. One order was for shrimp and chicken and the shrimp was forgotten. The chef was finished with his presentation and we informed him of the missing items and he kindly apologized and had the issues corrected promptly retrieving and grilling the shrimp and bringing the missing salads. On the topic of the chef he was great, simply put. He entertained us from the time he entered our hibachi area to the time we had to correct the food and even sang to us on his exit. For this reason I would recommend this restaurant as a fun NYC dining experience for locals and visitors.

The restaurant had a special where I saved $6 on an order $23+. The portions are very generous - I was able to make 2 meals out of it. Personally, I dont think the fried rice was worth an additional $4. If I were to order this again, I would probably just get the white/brown rice.I give this restaurant 4/5 because aside from the dry chicken, the vegetables, potstickers, and chicken had great flavor. They gave generous portions and when I reheated the left overs it was very good. I imagine the food tastes better when served in the restaurant too.

We went with simpler spicy crab and jalapeño tuna rolls with steamed lobster dumplings as an appetizer, but I definitely want to come back to try their more exotic, expensive items. Regarding our meal, the lobster dumplings were amazing. The texture of the dumpling wrap was kind of squishy and almost slimy looking (not in a bad way at all, just a different texture than typical steamed dumplings) but was so soft and tasty. The spicy crab roll was really good. Had an interesting crunch which was a nice surprise. The jalapeño tuna roll was okay. The jalapeño didn’t really add a whole lot to the roll to be honest. Regarding other menu items, they had a pretty good deal for 4 rolls from various menu sections plus other appetizer items like salad and/or soup for $45 that I’d like to try, too.

Comment: This place is awesome! I recently came here for dinner and my experience was amazing. I made a reservation on Yelp a few days in advance. It seems like the overall experience takes 1.5 hours, so the reservation times are staggered accordingly (7pm, 8:30pm, 10pm, etc). Key to remember they hold the reservation for up to 10 mins, but all other guests from my table showed on time. The food was delicious! We had the dumplings, shrimp, salmon, and chicken and they all tasted great. Others got the steak which looked juicy (def ordering that next time I go!). The cooks are super upbeat and funny. Ours was constantly joking around and singing some throwbacks, including some Daddy Yankee/Gasolina references while cooking. 😂Overall Id recommend this place for sure. The prices are reasonable and you really get your moneys worth in the form of entertainment and delicious food!!
