Comment: I had a Company dinner so ordered a lot of food. I thought they might be in a hurry with my food, but I found out I was wrong, they take every guest seriously and my food was beautifully presented. The food is visibly fresh. The price is also cheaper than Manhattan. I love this restaurant so much.

Comment: This place is a must try if you end up at roosevelt island. Wonderful selection of food. I recommend the white river roll or spicy boy roll! They also have great entrees such as their teriyaki and their bento boxes. Their appetizers are also wonderful like their avocado salad and shrimp tempura!

Comment: Roosevelt Island is a fantastic place overall, but there aren’t many restaurants here of different cuisines. Fuji East is always my family’s go to takeout service because of how delicious and well-made its sushi is. Every roll is made carefully and beautifully with fresh-tasting fish and appropriate proportions of fish to vegetable/fruit to rice and seaweed. I recommend getting the lunch special because of how reasonably priced the deal is. at first glance, Fuji East is quite expensive, but so is any other sushi restaurant anywhere; the only difference is that Fuji East’s roles have so much more quality to them. Overall, service is great, food is tasty with a wide range of items on the menu, atmosphere and decor is nice, and prices are reasonable for sushi. Once in a while, there are disappointments or slight alterations to what we get, but nothing of importance. Fuji East is a restaurant that I can always feel good eating from and one of great quality!

Comment: I have a soft spot for Fuji since they were the first “good” restaurant on the island. The quality of fish varies from excellent to average depending on the day, but they’re always consistent overall and come in handy for when you don’t want to travel to another part of town for standard Japanese fare. Price point is reasonable, service is also good (and improves a ton if you’re a familiar customer). It’s basically what I would consider average, and there’s something great about that.

Comment: We go here a lot mostly because it’s the only sushi spot on the island but it’s consistent and the people are nice. We are vegan so I can’t speak to the quality of the fish sushi or meat dishes but the veggie sushi is always great :) wish they had inari though!! 😭

The food is always super fresh, they are very accommodating with substitutes and very fast with both delivery and pickup orders. Comment: Invited my friends to eat here after hanging out. Best choice ever!Been awhile since Ive came to eat here with my little brother when they first opened up. Glad I came back again with my friends to eat. The food was so delicious though a bit small on the salmon and vegetables. The price was excellent didnt expect it to be as well as the food.I definitely would go back for a regular and highly recommend for a nice date, friend time, or just a treat for yourself!

Comment: We order from here regularly. Ikura sushi is fantastic here, so it salmon and yellowtail. Stir fried noodles are also good, especially vegetable yaki udon. Food comes quickly and order is always correct. One things we’d like to see is home made batter on the shrimp tempura (so that there is less batter and it’s lighter), but still we really like this place.

I also dined at the restaurant once and the service was decent. I recommend it if you are around in the island and you feel like eating sushi. Comment: We live in the same building as this restaurant and order at least once a month from here. The sushi is delicious and fresh. The dumplings and tempura are yummy. The miss soup is hearty and warming just as it should be. The atmosphere in the restaurant is lovely, its a shame it isnt bigger but still very nice. In the summer, theres a small but pleasant outdoor area where you can eat with your dog. Everything is reasonably priced and most of the staff are very nice and polite. There is one grumpy woman though who served us the first time we came here, best to avoid her if possible! We had an hour until closing time, she reluctantly seated us, grumbled lots and rushed us through our whole meal though we were done in 45 mins. Also if getting takeout be wary, we think the meat/seafood overcooks as it sits waiting to be picked up. Weve had overcooked beef, shrimp, salmon and tough chicken multiple times which is disappointing.

I took the time to check the other reviews it is true you will not get the classic American style service and I believe that there possibly a language barrier and somewhat cultural difference. Nevertheless they are always polite, fast serving and accommodating. In addition, the food is consistently amazing and is worth visiting if you come from far especially during summer to enjoy the outdoors seating area!

Comment: The rolls are great! The size, fish to rice ratio, quality--all excellent! Of all the places Ive had sushi in the city, from cheap too expensive, this is the best! The seafood garlic noodle, tiger roll, and crispy duck roll are my favorite dishes. Im disappointed any time I get sushi anywhere else after having Fuji Easts food.I dont know why I read a complaint about service, but the servers are all very pleasant and quick. You might not get big American style smiles and waitress small talk, unless you become a regular! They learn your orders (if youre like my family and order your favorite dishes every time from restaurants) and remember repeat customers.Also in the summertime, the outdoor seating right on the lawn with views of the river and flowers is wonderful.

Comment: I am a big fan of sushi, and this is my go-to place for Japanese food. The location is amazing, conveniently next to the river and the Subway. The staff is very nice and laid-back. Fuji East has the best prices on all of Roosevelt Island, and I would definitely recommend visiting it if you are on Roosevelt Island.

Comment: The restaurant is probably not run by Japanese people. But dont be disappointed. Moderate price. The food is not bad. Their Combination Box are served with Tempura, Shumai, California Roll, Soup or Salad. The prices are from $15 - 20.

Comment: The restaurant is quite small but they have a good outside seating area where you can have a good conversation. Sushi is definitely the highlight here, its super fresh, with great variety and its not expensive, specially the lunch menu!

Comment: The restaurant is cute, small, and clean. I ate the Japanese mango chicken fried rice which was pretty tasty and had a nice presentation.They serve both sushi and hot foods. The service is fast and the staff are kind (but not overly). The prices are also good.
