Comment: Hubby had his first and best omakase experience. We went for our 24th anniversary celebration. At first, before the omakase begins, hubby was like “I only like salmon because of its buttery taste. I don’t like any other fish” and then next thing I hear was “omg, this fish so good”; “omg, this fish is also yummy”; “oh this fish is so fresh and tasty” 😂 🤣 I laughed at him and asked if he still likes salmon ONLY. He says no. Yay! Mission accomplished!!

Comment: Dont expect to find city quality omakase coming here. Otherwise still a very good place if you need a quick sushi fix in. Did the Gohan tasting and wish there were more sashimi/ Nigiri pieces but couldve been a seasonal thing. Staff was very friendly and attentive!

Comment: A little gem of a restaurant! My husband and I came here for our anniversary last minute and were touched by the detail and attention they showed us. We had the Gohan Omakase, which was delicious and very filling. The chef was so careful with my husband’s shellfish allergy. The food, service, and even the music were thoughtfully delivered. Thank you for making our night so special!

Unlike some omakase in the city, they rush you or the seating are so close and tight, this place is pretty spacious and quiet, so we could enjoy our dinner better.Food is fresh and yum! Comment: Bay Ridge finally gets its omakase. GOHAN is a culinary oasis where you would least expect it. Family owned and operated, and you can taste the quality in each piece. Very comparable to the higher end Manhattan omakase counters except much more affordable. Most of the fish is sourced fresh, directly from Japan. Highly satisfying, will definitely be making this a go-to spot.

What I didnt expect is that the omakase ingredients here are fresh and delicious, the staff are very friendly, and even the sushi chef gave us a birthday cake to celebrate our birthday. Comment: The omakase was solid especially since this is my first omakase. The chefs were very nice and the brother with a man bun explained each sushi pieces very well. The chefs work hard to perfect each pieces and making sure we are enjoying them. The quality of the fishes was great since they arevery fresh. This is truly different from your usual sushi places around Brooklyn and I truly recommend. I got the $109 omakase and it was great. A great small local sushi restaurant to support!

Comment: Gohan is located in the newly opened Omakase near 86th Street and 4th Avenue in Brooklyn. The ingredients are well prepared and the choice of food and sauces perfectly delineates the layers of flavor. Shop details are very in place, subtle to the sesame seeds are carefully roasted. Nice experience!

Comment: Overall it was a good experience. The service is good, the fish quality overall was good. The omakase is more towards the traditional side with just wasabi, ri e and soy sauce. Its nice to have this new addition to the area.Both of us got the $90 omakase with one upgrade of the appetizer to wagyu beef cracker for +$8 and both upgraded to the gohan temaki for $15. In my opinion. I think it would have been fine without the upgrades.The chef is nice but overall engagement was low but Im okay with that but I know other people do care if the chef is engaging or not. I also liked that there werent a lot of people talking since we like being able to hear each other. Music was coffee shop style music so was relaxing.I think it would have been better if there was more consistency of the pieces because as youre watching 4 sets of the same piece get put together, some werent the same size. One thing that really bother me was that the uni piece that was included in the meal (didnt require upgrade) was served to 3 of 4 people as half pieces and one as more than 2x our pieces (basically a full piece). I also didnt get a chance to upgrade to the Hokkaido uni as thats that I usually like. Would have been nice to have that included like how most places include in the menu.Also, handrolls werent really handrolls so that I found a little odd. Again, overall it was a good experience and nice that its still quiet there and fish pieces are larger than some other omakase places. Also, the have us free ice cream (pretty good green tea) but thats not listed on the menu so might not always be available.
