Comment: We stumbled upon Gosuke after seeing their sign placard outside. Initially, we were headed to another restaurant for drinks and saw their signage on our way there. Because of their happy hour specials, we decided to hit up Gosuke on our way out from the other restaurant.When we entered, we saw the cool robotic dinosaur that led to a hidden hotel. You would never know this place is here unless you walk in. The security guard realized we were there for Gosuke, which is tucked in the corner. We were 2 adults and 2 teens. Because of this, we had our teenagers sit at a table right next to us while we sat at the bar.First of all, you are greeted right away. My husband and I knew we wanted to take advantage of their sake happy hour special and Japanese beer. Our kids sat directly next to us at a table. They ordered soda, and we indulged in our own beverages. While we cant speak to their food (we already ate at our previous stop), the 2 younger individuals that help run this establishment were outstanding. Its clear that they are a family restaurant, and they paid attention to my kids pleas to get boba tea. They made recommendations and even provided locations with recommendations. They were so lovely and seemed to genuinely care about our needs. I can honestly say that they were probably the kindest people we met while in NYC for 3 days.If anything, I would recommend them just based on hospitality. I look forward to trying them out again when back in a couple months. As far as Im concerned, service makes all the difference, and you get that here!

Comment: I sat at the sushi bar. Many Japanese staff. The sushi master seemed to keep everything looking very hygienic and pretty behind the counter. I got a 9-piece sushi assortment for $50. Everything tasted quite authentic, though the preparation of the sushi was a little sloppy - some fish had little bits hanging off, and the roll was not closed all the way. But it all tasted very very good. Service was a little spotty, it wasnt clear who to order from, the sushi master or his assistant or the waitress who came to my spot only after five minutes or so. The waitstaff looked kind of busy so it felt inefficient. But I would go back, the sushi was delicious and tasted quite fresh.

Also: it’s a nice experience to walk into a restaurant anywhere and be greeted with a few smiles, but it feels especially welcoming in midtown Manhattan.

We got the sashimi matsu and the chef special tempura to share.The service was a bit slow - we sat by the sushi counter but could only place orders with the server.The quality of the sashimi was good. However, we were slightly surprised by the number of pieces presented for the set. The menu stated around 30 pieces, but we only counted 25. When we mentioned this to the server, she checked with the sushi chef, and we got a few more pieces. While it worked out in the end, we felt like we were begging for additional pieces and had to show them the picture I took before eating. I wish this incident had never happened so that I would want to return for the same dish.The tempura was very crunchy, and it reminded me of the quality I had in Tokyo. I highly recommend the tempura.

Everything here is super expensive, the mains start at $30 so for that price, i recommend getting the sushi set or chirashi. The sushi is really fresh and well-made, but you will definitely not be full after.We also had breakfast here and had a voucher since we were attending an event, it is normally $15 for the breakfast sets but with the voucher it was $10. The fish was much smaller and side dishes different from picture, no steam egg so that was disappointing...Anyways, its a decent restaurant but it is very pricey and you would need to order a lot to be full.

Comment: No frills sushi spot on the back of a hotel. Strong aroma of the sea on the grill. Seating area is small and intimate. Service is attentive but felt slightly unwelcoming. Felt weird refilling my own sake when less expensive restaurants do this for me. Perhaps as they are trying to be efficient vs friendly. I ordered to only find out 10 minutes later the dish I chose was unavailable. All this being said, the gyoza is a perfect blend of crisp and soft. The specials are expensive AF but tasty. Eating a $10 piece of tuna left me feeling some type of way. I guess I dont have the taste buds to appreciate it. Tonkatsu was a bit dry. Rice was amazing. Sauce top notch. Overall, come here for expensive but great food.

The rice is superbly seasoned and perfectly sticky (but not mushy!) and the fish is insanely fresh. I had a salmon don and an unagi nigiri and they were both so great. Comment: A hidden gem inside the newly opened Henn na (T-Rex) hotel, the penn station sushi spot offers fresh sushi, sashimi and just recently got their liquor license. The 9 course sushi omakase was delightful well worth the price, each dish unique and showcases the chefs decades of experience. The sashimi omakase platter presentation was amazing. Plenty of appetizers, kitchen dishes, udon and regular sushi and sashimi dinner options. After work happy hour $5 drinks till 7. Good selection of wine, beer and of course junmai sakes. Wait staff was friendly, quick and knowledgeable about everything on the menu.
