We had to ask several times, to be told it was someone else bringing our drinks. The food portions were shared equally and as we barely finished part of our meal, the other meats arrived causing less space and more chaos on the table.

So, while the service wasnt spectacular, it was more than I expected.The food: we got the house special, which feeds 6 or more, and I was absolutely stunned by the amount of food that kept coming. The meat quality was great. We didnt order any A5 Wagyu or anything like that, but everything that came out was awesome.The facility itself was relatively clean. Its in NYC, so clean is a relative term. And I felt comfy eating there.8.5/10 - will absolutely be eating here again if I get the chance.

Comment: Super fun experience with our adult kids, everyone enjoyed picking at the chicken, salmon and beef portions we got to try roasting them on the tables grill. Delicious vegetables in foil steam packets, good kimchee and edamame. Waiter was helpful with explanations of the process. Mostly gave us a chance to relax together over a meal that was more like playing a board game than a fine dining experience. Oh, and we ordered a la carte which turned out to be better value than their family of 4 meal.

Stand out faves were the crispy tempura veggies topped with tuna and avocado, the crispy rice volcano tuna, the bimbibap onion beef rice (soooo freaking good), and the cheese wontons. The 2 cons was service was almost absent after we received our main courses so we waited a while to order more beverages and most disappointing was that I ordered a glass of wine and the waiter served me a glass with, I kid you not, 2oz of pinot grigio!! Wth? My entire table looked at me puzzled. I asked the waitress how much wine they serve in a glass and she, I quote, stated 60ml which converts to 2oz. I asked to speak to a manager because nowhere in America does any restaurant serve 2oz of house wine for $12! Gladly, the server took it upon herself to return my drink to the bartender and pour a normal 7-8oz flag of wine at no additional cost. I hope this is not a typical occurrence. Overall, Id definitely return and recommend.

The shishito peppers had this awesome sauce on them, the happy hour crispy chicken wings were insane! I wish we had ordered a second round, all the meats were good. So we didn’t realize how high the heat had been left for us and we started cooking our pork belly per their instructions, sadly it burned but, a server saved the day and replaced the item after they saw what happened and turned the heat down. So nice of her! Also I downloaded the app because I definitely plan to visit more locations when I’m hankering for it. Love this chain!

Comment: Food is great and the experience. Their garlic fried rice in this location is a bit different from the east side and Hell’s Kitchen locations. The wait time for food and everything was a bit long.They put us at a table where the grill onlyworked on one side which was very inconvenient when you’re trying to cook meats for 4 different people. They were aware of this but sat us here knowing they need to replace it.Happy hour is only a $1-$2 off the food so it’s best to come for drinks.Very intimate experience if you’re on a date otherwise it is a good time to laugh, drink and eat.

Comment: Gyu Kaku is one of my favorite places to go for a great family dinner. This was my first time at this location and they were absolutely amazing. Our server was very attentive and gave great recommendations, and another woman (who I assumed was the supervisor?) kept checking on us as well. This place is very well managed and the staff are so friendly and accommodating. The food is great. Plenty of options that will definitely get you full and satisfied. I personally am a fan of the Japanese Karaage and the spicy tuna volcano as my starters—10/10. I had a mango tango since it was a pretty warm summer day when we came here and it definitely was refreshing. When I go back to Gyu Kaku, I’m coming to this location specifically.

Comment: Local outpost for this upscale chain of Korean BBQ. Calories, veggie and gluten free options clearly indicated on menus, with helpful photos. Lots of options, and great fun to grill at your table, but for the real experience youll need to head down to Koreatown. Reservations recommended.

Its near central park, and the 2/3/1 train lines. No free parking, expensive parking near by. A few busses pass walking distance from this location in either direction.

Comment: This is a Japanese BBQ restaurant. There is currently no outdoor dining, but indoor dining is allowed with limited capacity. Inside was very quiet and clean which I liked.We went for lunch. There was a happy hour special which was $70 for 2 people which came with soup, salad, edamame, and a variety of meats to grill. The portion size was just right - we finished everything and were sated, yet not overly full.I can see how this restaurant might be very expensive if youre not careful. Each dish of normal meat was $10-$20, and its recommended that you order 2-3 meat plates per person.I wish we were served more vegetables to grill. The vegetable plate that came with our meal set had only 4 cherry tomatoes, 4 small mushroom, 4 slices of zucchini, a little cup of corn, and some cabbage. This was my only complaint.In addition to the meal sets, the menu also had some standard Japanese eats like ramen.

We were seated immediately had our Temperature taken and asked for our address due to Covid reasons.The waiter was very nice and patient explain things thoroughly even asked if we had any food allergies. Food was very delicious we ended up picking our own things and not getting a package. Restaurant was clean staff was extremely friendly. Definitely will be visiting again. I also like that the grill was changed in between food. Great experience.

Comment: Five stars for this recent addition on the Upper West Side. Fantastic place to eat with family and friends. Cook your meat, fish, pork and veggies at the table. The friendly staff can help with tips and cook times. Reasonable prices and lots of choices. We did a package for four and we left the restaurant stuffed. Drink choices include Japanese beer and house sake that is available warm or cold. You can end your meal with the traditional American dessert of Smores. Will go back.
