Comment: Was excited to finally get to check this place out. Right off the bat, their brussel sprouts and romaine salad were delicious. We also ordered udon and hamburg steak. The portion of each dish is small so keep that in mind. Although tge romaine salad was huge. All the food was a bit salty for me. Guess that was the only downside. Overall the server was so nice. And we were lucky to get the seat right away without making a reservation.Try romaine salad and brussel sprouts for real! You wont regret!

Comment: The place was kinda exotic. Japanese interior design with loud pop music. I would sit at the bar next time rather than the dining area. The bar seems nice for single visit too. And highly recommend to ☕️coffee lovers. For food, basically, I avoided dishes that I found negative reviews here. (Katsu sando..) And.. it worked! I had to say nothing really unique, like a family restaurant in Japan, but it was kinda the style that you might miss it later in a sudden. We had hayashi omurice as main dish. I wouldn’t say the stew was perfect, kinda salty, but definitely close to “real” Japanese taste. On the other hand, omelette was PERFECT. Nice thin layer holding it together, as you cut it, the egg ran down and beautifully cover the rice. For dessert, I would recommend 🥞hot cake! We had original one, 2 pieces with ice cream, citrus butter, and some raisin granola. If compared with other places serving pancake with same prices, I think their portion was small. But still delicious and I want to try the green tea one next time!Last for drinks, we had one ☕️siphon black coffee and the kiwi grapefruit ade. (For coffee, you got many special coffee beans to choose!)Both of us were satisfied with the drinks! Although, pricy.

Comment: Ive loved this place since when they used to be on E 10th street! Theyve recently evolved their menu, and I have to say its made it harder for me to choose a dish because they all sound good! Last night, I had the Tepppan Hamburg Steak, lightly grilled Cesar Salad (its really amazing), and the Ebi Fry. It really was a delicious meal and enjoyed it after a long day of running errands. I highly suggest you try for yourself! It will become one of your favorite places!

Comment: Place gets busy. Ended up getting a bar seat, on a stool - only waited 10 minutes!Overall, the egg omelette dish was delicious. There is so much rice in the dish it gets quite filling, but the egg perfectly cuts. The katsu sandwich was good - not great. Felt a bit plastic tasting, and would have liked it to be more oily or flavorful. Not bad, but not the best Ive had.The coffee (house drip) was strong and tasted good. The coffee prices here can be insanely high, likely due to the import of beans.Overall, well worth the brunch and the omelette rice dish.

Comment: Came here for brunch. For drinks I ordered the orange juice (quite bitter), the kiwi lemonade which was sour and had no hint of lemon. I then ordered the hayashi katsu, which I thought would come with katsu cutlet but it was just skewers? The portions for the hayashi katsu were also fairly small. And lastly, I ordered the hayashi omurice, the omelet was nicely cooked and a little runny! And the hayashi sauce made it more flavorful and savory. Even though the food was good, nothing really stood out to me. However, I think next time I would have to go back and try the hotcakes!

Comment: LOVED the ambience, decor, and layout. I sat at a table, but it wouldve been so nice to sit at the bar. Excellently sized place considering the popularity. I only wish there was a waiting area. There is a bathroom here, but it only holds one person.Service was AMAZING. I didnt catch the hosts name, but he was very sweet and managed to get me a last minute reservation for lunch after I realized the dishes I wanted were not served at dinner. I wouldve given him a tip had I carried cash. The servers were also very nice and attentive. For a Saturday afternoon, it was very tame, so there felt like no rush. The food itself was actually not magnificent. I got the tomato omurice, original hot cakes, and Japanese iced coffee made with Panama beans.Granted I ate it all, the omurice definitely could have benefitted from more salt and pepper to balance out the sweetness of the tomato sauce. But I loved the texture of the egg. The inside was runny, like a secondary sauce, while the outside had some integrity to easily scoop the rice. It helped that they offer metal sporks! That surprised me, but in the best way.The best part of the hot cakes was definitely the orange butter and, I believe, please correct me if Im wrong, the chewy golden raisins paired with granola. The ice cream held all the textures together, which I appreciated. I would not have eaten the hotcakes with syrup had they not included those extra ingredients. The iced coffee was as smooth as other reviewers had mentioned. I am in no way a black coffee person, nor do I taste a difference in beans, but I drank the entire thing with ease. I personally dont think it was worth $8.50, but I dont know their preparation process so Im not one to judge. The check before tip was around $57.I personally would not return since it is quite a trek, but I dont regret coming! I visited for the experience and Hi-Collar delivered. Arigato gozaimasu!

Comment: Came for the omurice but was disappointed it wasnt offered for on the dinner menu. If youre looking to get the omurice, make sure to book a reservation in-advance for lunch, as they do not take orders for take-out.Stayed for dinner menu and was pleasantly surprised by the hamburger steak. The gravy was delicious and rich. However, the other dinner menu items were small and pricey, but still really delicious.

Comment: A delicious brunch experience. We arrived at noon without a reservation but were able to sit at the counter right away. We had a pour over iced coffee, katsu sandwich (flavorful sauce with moist pork that was not chewy or hard to eat), the Omurice(omelette on rice - eggs perfectly soft on top of fluffy, seasoned rice), and original thick hotcakes (cloudy goodness with brown sugar ice cream, orange butter, and syrup). All were great with the last two being the best and items that stood out the most. Excited to come back at night to see those offerings.

Comment: Been a long time fan of Hi-Collar at their original location, so I was excited to try out their new spot. We went for both brunch and dinner (they now have a full dinner menu with cocktails). Brunch retains their usual menu with siphon coffee, and their counter space near the entrance harkins back to their original bar seating at their old location. Great experience and service that brings back old memories.Their dinner service is new, with a full menu of traditional dishes like hamburg steak, karaage, corquettes, age dashi tofu, and more. While solid quality and flavor, it did lack some originality that would make it a standout. However, the cocktails were amazing, and the happy hour Yamazaki pour is a steal. Lastly, service was a bit slow and disorganized, and it took a while to get everything out.

We did get a call that our table was ready while we were already sat but it was totally fine. The food was SO good, and the teas very delicate and tasty. Comment: Service is lovely here. The interior space is cozy and beautiful.Food came fast, pancakes and omurice were delicious. We had siphoned coffee for the first time, so I have noooo idea how it’s supposed to taste. We were such coffee nubbs but it was pretty cool seeing how it was served. The pancakes came with a lot of “stuff”. Some sliced fruit, ice cream, freshly whipped cream, matcha drizzle, and granola sprinkled around. It didn’t look that filling but I felt super full towards the end.

Comment: Hi-Collar is both a wonderful morning coffee spot and warm evening cocktail bar. Both times I came, I sat at the bar, which has a cozy atmosphere. Your coffee is skillfully made in front of you by the bartenders. Part of the experience for me is watching and knowing your beverage is made with care and properly. The evening bartenders are incredibly friendly and their cocktails are delicious. Omurice and Pancakes were so good

Comment: I’ve been coming to Hi-Collar since 2019 when it was just a small bar and the line was down the street just to get a seat for brunch. I’m so incredibly proud out the owners and I’ve loved seeing the space transform over the years. Their quality has never decreased but instead gotten better and better. The menu continues to expand to tastier & tastier options. Hi-Collar will continue to be my staple place until I die… or until they close whichever comes first

Comment: Came in 2018 when it was a smaller place. Loved it, first omurice ever. I’ve been craving this omurice since. 2023 omurice is a little less tasty, still great tho and the texture is what I needed. I think it was missing a bit of the green stuff and maybe a bit more salt, overall great experience tho. The service is top class. I’m from Mexico and I’m accustomed to have outstanding service, felt right at home here. They were training a new girl and they taught her to be kind and attentive all the way through. Comment: Food: 9/10. We got the mixed berry soufflé pancakes and the omurice. The eggs on the omurice were so well cooked - not too runny, not too solid. Probably the best egg dish I’ve had in the city this summer. The soufflé pancakes were equally as good. Soft, spongy, and served with fresh berries (the blueberries had a really nice bite to them) and ice cream, they were amazing too. Only small thing is that the tomato sauce on the omurice was a LITTLE overpowering, but still amazing!Service: 8/10. Quick, nice service. Only small problem is we had a reservation for 2, but still had to wait 10-15 minutes to be seated.Atmosphere: 10/10. Just a beautifully decorated restaurant with Japanese influence everywhere. It’s easily the nicest cafe I’ve been to, and also easily one of the best decorated restaurants here in the city. Lots of natural light. Clean bathrooms. Loved it!Hi-Collar is an amazing spot for breakfast/brunch in the city. Two filling plates and a pricey drink came out to about $65 for two (after tax and tip) which is great!Toodaloo!

Comment: The food was great. Especially the omurice with original sauce. It had the perfect amount of salt and savoriness. It’s the perfect way to warm up and fill your stomach before doing the tests if your errands. It was a more expensive breakfast/brunch but that’s only because of all the items I got. Each menu item individually is moderately priced. I went alone so I was placed on the bar counter. Though the place seemed busy, I had a 3 minute wait time even with no reservation. The staff were so nice and amazing. They made sure my experience was lovely and had my food out quickly.

Comment: Hi-Collar reminds me of the Otaru Cafe from Hokkaido, Japan. The bar area is very cute and retro decor, its a pleasure to watch the baristas to mix the drinks and make the drip coffee. We got their classic omurice, katsu sandwich, hot matcha latte and geisha coffee (highly recommend). The egg is perfectly made and good portion. Texture is creamy, smooth, fluffy, and when you scoop it up about 30% the yolk just running into the fried rice, which made each bite rich and moist. Katsu sandwich is also a must order! Crispy porkchop wrapped with toasted japanese milk bread. Needless to say that Hi-Collar is known for the coffee beans they used. Dont need to add milk/cream to coffee!

Comment: Heavenly Japanese breakfast spot with puffy pancakes (sweet af), macha tea, and authentic dishes for a reasonable price. The wait is CRAZY without an ability to reserve tables (which knocks it down a few notches) so make sure to get there by 1030 am to avoid standing for more than an hour. $14 a dish. 4.5/5 stars as a breakfast spot.

Comment: What a lovely little restaurant. The interior is clean and pretty. Lovely decor all throughout and very clean bathrooms. The food was absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend the omurice with the demi glaze and sausage on top. It was my favorite dish to try. We also had the hot cakes with strawberries and bananas. They were not bad! Same with the Katsu sandwich which was OK but we had to wait like 30mins for that one. It was pretty busy for Saturday lunch so it must have been a little crazy back in the kitchen. Now for my standard COVID comments as of March 2023. Not many folks are wearing masks but the interior is kept very clean. We were comfortable eating our lunch indoors.

Comment: EXTREMELY long waits, compact little restaurant. Seats approximately 12 people at once. Hot cakes were phenomenal with a specialty butter, garnished with rosemary sprigs. Took roughly 20-30 mins to cook the hot cakes. Orders were taken outside while waiting which eliminated a little bit of wait time. Omurice was great with dynamic flavors, soft and fluffy eggs. Food was really good, but expect long waits.Recommended Dishes: Omurice (Japanese rice omelet), Hot Cakes, Matcha Latte

Comment: I’ve never come here for a real meal, but fun fun spot for drinks. Sitting at the bar you get a real izakaya vibe. I love to come here for sake and the Japanese bar snacks (the octopus with wasabi and the potato chips are perfect to munch on before/after dinner), recently also tried the cocktails and was impressed. The matcha milk was my favorite, but also enjoyed the cassis soda and kiwi cocktails

Comment: Hi-Collar feels like a place of respite. When the world turns too quickly for you to handle, or the night too cold for you to bear, this little whiskey spot is a place you can go to escape all your troubles and- even for a brief moment- forget them. The food tastes like a home cooked meal, the whiskey is served quick, and the staff are down to business and attentive. I didnt get to see past the bar but Im sure the ambiance is just as cozy. I will definitely come back here.

Matcha latte was good and not too sweet/milky which most cafes like to do (i like the bitterness of matcha 😋) i would like to go back to try the sando and pancakes.

Comment: Hi-Collar is a cute cafe to grab a bite to eat. Definitely too busy on a weekend to grab a quick bite or to stay and chat for while. The food was yummy and the drinks were delicious. The Viet Ice Coffee was slightly sweet and very smooth. The hot cakes were a little dense, but were very well balanced in terms of flavor. I really like the subtle hint of orange. The omurice was a little bland and probably couldve used a little more seasoning or demi-glace. I would probably order it without the katsu on top if I were to get it again.

Comment: We went for lunch on a Monday afternoon! There was no wait and we got seated at a table pretty quick. The service was great and the waiters were attentive. The portions are a bit small for the price but had great flavor! We got the pancakes, the Katsu sandwich, and the omurice. All pretty great choices! The pancakes were really fluffy and the sandwich had a thick slab of meat. Only complaint was that there were only two pancakes on the dish but it was still good! Would recommend getting it with strawberries.

Comment: The coffee here is phenomenal! We got The Yeison blend in Siphon form and Hana in pour over. Both were top tier. And the Omurice were quite good as well (we got original and Demi-glace).My main critique is that the service is not the best. Comment: This cute cafe is Insta famous and I waited a about 30-40 min to get in during lunchtime. It is modeled after a traditional Japanese kissaten. A bit on the pricey end, but youre paying for the atmosphere.I loved the wide variety of coffee beans and went for the HI Collar special in a siphon. Im not a coffee connoseiur by any means but the coffee was dark, full bodied and delicious. As for the food, I got a katsu sandwich. The portion size was pretty large and I was I impressed by how juicy the Berkshire pork cuts were. The bartender was a friendly Japanese lady who chatted merrily with customers by the bar. However, the servers seemed hurried and I had a hard time chasing them down for my order. Thats the only reason Im docking a star from my review.

Comment: We had the tamago sando, mushroom omurice with demi-glace sauce, and coffee zenzai. The highlight of the day was the eggs: soft, a bit juicy, flavorful. As simple as an egg sandwich may be, it was one of the best things I had had that week! The dessert was also a delight, the sweetness of the matcha ice cream complimented the slightly bitter coffee jelly very well.

Comment: Wow! This place is a gem.Coffee flavors are very flavorful. The brewing method is quiet interesting. I tried the Siphon method and it was phenomenal. The black coffee doesn’t taste as bitter as I imaged and it contained some fruity and floral notes that lingered on my taste buds. While waiting, I saw the egg omelet and hot cakes of my neighboring customers, and the dishes look so good. I can clearly see that my neighbors really liked them.Fantastic light lunch or afternoon tea place. (And I think it turns into a bar at night?) The atmosphere is soothing and calm. Comment: Seriously, some of the best coffee Ive had in New York (and theres plenty of competition in the city!). This is a proper Japanese coffee bar with a range of options for preparing your coffee. I had their Hana house blend in both aero press and hand drip brew style, and you could clearly experience the difference in flavor and intensity from the different preparations. This is a perfect pit stop for some iced coffee on a hot New York summer day. The interiors are cool and artfully done in a Japanese style, and theres also food and alcoholic beverages on the menu if you want a snack or a stiff drink. This was a great find in the East Village!

Comment: My all time favorite spot for Japanese comfort food. Came here twice (once pre-pandemic and another this past summer) and they have failed to disappoint. On our recent visit, we ordered the Mentai Cream Pasta (cream- based cod roe sauce with shimeji mushrooms), the Katsu Sandwich (Berkshire pork katsu sandwich), and my all time favorite Omurice with Demi glacé sauce (this time topped with Japanese sausage). As beverages we ordered the royal milk tea and an iced latte with oat milk. The cream pasta was delicious, but not being a crazy noodle fan, I did get tired of the flavor after 2 bites or so. The omurice, once again won my heart. The Demi glacé sauce was a bit thicker than ketchup and so rich in flavor, it complimented with the subtle fluffy flavor of the egg. There was a hint of tangy flavor reminding me of ketchup, but not as all up in your face, as ketchup normally is. The sausage was a nice addition in texture though I preferred the pork cutlet more as a topping. This past visit was the first time I ordered the Katsu sandwich, and it definitely did not disappoint. The bread to meat ratio was definitely to my liking (other places that make these sandwiches tend to put too much bread over meat). The cutlet was amazingly tender and there was no layer of fat, that I normally taste when I eat anything pork related. Try dipping it with the Demi glacé sauce from the omurice and there you will find a whole other depth of flavor. In terms of the service, it was great. We came during opening and though we were a bit shy, thinking it was still closed, but the servers were really friendly. You can tell they were Japanese with their soft accents when they spoke English and how they also spoke Japanese with each other. This tiny shop is really a worth it place to go to, as before pandemic this place had lines out the door. Luckily this time, they have outdoor dining. If you are ever in the St. Marks/ NYU I highly recommend you visiting this place for some light / cafe eats. Also, this area has two more Japanese spots (Sobaya if you are around in the evening, and want some Japanese noodle dishes, and Cha-an, if you are in the mood for some Japanese dessert)

Comment: Fantastic place that puts care into their food. I used to have conversations with them about food, coffee and Japan in general before they got super popular. I’m happy to see they’ve gotten a new location that should have a little more space whenever we can do dine in again. Their outdoor dining and takeout is a great option as well.Normally a cafe by day and sake bar by night, currently the menu is available all day. You can get sake with your Omurice if you want. Lots of options for Omurice if you need more toppings or if you prefer demiglace instead of ketchup.Great selection of coffee blends. This is the place that got me into drinking coffee black and appreciating the flavor of the coffee itself. Their cold brew is the perfect thing on a hot day.

Comment: Fantastic! The omurice (and make sure to add the katsu topping) is one of the best things you’ll eat. Paired with excellent coffee (choice of pour over, aero press or SIPHON coffee), good desserts and cocktails, this place is near perfect. The only thing is it may be hard to snag a seat as there are only 10 or so bar seats. The attention to details is everything and it is impeccable here. Best of all is the interior which will make you feel like you’re in a different era, while still keeping its modern flair.

Comment: I came here last weekend as the first part of my weekender when I came to NYC. Though I came for the coffee, heres the part where I say I stayed for BOTH the coffee and food! Having first came in, I was pretty struck that they only had a bar kind of format and that it was relatively small. Nevertheless, I got situated and ordered the mizudashi, their cold brew iced coffee and an omurice with demi-glace sauce and kinoko. While waiting for both of these, I spectated them making the katsu and tamago sandwiches, or even the hot cakes. Versus in a normal cafe or coffee shop where you mind your own business after you get your order, the layout of Hi-Collar promotes interactions, either with the employees, your fellow colleagues/friends, or even strangers. Of course you shouldnt get too comfortable there, because there tends to be other people waiting in line outside! Back to the point, I first got my cold brew iced coffee in a rather interesting metal mug. First sip I take, I acknowledge this is probably the best iced coffee Ive had in my life. This really brightens up my mood for D1 in NYC! After another few minutes, the omurice comes out; the presentation is like what Ive seen on youtube! Now I can see that this is seriously authentic! Taking the spoon and slowly cutting into the omurice, the egg was made just right to run a bit but complement with the rice and the demi-glace sauce! When I ran into the kinoko, this even added an additional complex taste that had my mouth seriously salivating even more! So if I had to say, this place is a MUST GO TO if youre in NYC! I know this will be one of my go-to places whenever I go to NYC now!

Comment: The price tag of this place is absolutely reflected in the care they put into their food. The flavors blend well together and the eggs and rice were perfect compliment textures. The sauces were great and just the right amount for the dish.I was a little disappointed that the katsu was not crispy as they drenched the sauce on top of it, so I dont think I would get the katsu for the extra price tag.The fruit dessert was amazing and had great texture and light sweetness. The Hong Kong tea was good, but again, didnt have the extra flavor that would make me order it again.

Comment: I actually have been to Hi-Collar, but it was for drinks the first time with a mate. The karage pieces were massive, and the drinks were on-point.But I came back with another mate and her boyfriend, and we were craving my current addiction - Katsu sando. For those that are familiar with the Katsu sando in Japan, specifically Tokyo, this Katsu sando has the pieces protruding from the bread instead of cut neatly. Also, the Katsu sando was equivalent to a half sando and price point in Tokyo. The tonkatsu was quite delicious. Crispy, piping hot, and flavorful. Perhaps it was only my sando that had a touch more fat, so it was not as juicy as it looked. Otherwise, it is the best (as of this review) Katsu sando I could find in the city. There are a few more I need to try, yet it has to be a fair price-point and quality. I definitely want to go back and try the tamago sando.

Comment: Love this spot, albeit I would not wait more than 10 minutes to be seated. The most unique part is the coffee ordering process. Pick your preparation style (hot, iced, aeropress, siphon, cold brew, etc.) and then your bean.I recommend going in groups of 2 because thats the easiest way to actually get a seat. Lines form fast and the food and coffee takes a little bit to prepare, so get there a few minutes before 11am if you dont want to wait. The hotcakes are fun and great for photos, but the omelet is where the flavor really is--dontt feel guilty if you splurge and add the pork sausage. You can save some money by sharing the omelette and pancakes with your friend.

Comment: My new favorite place! Great service, amazing coffee and food. I love the intimacy of the space. Its bar seating of about 15 stools. There is a wait, but its well worth it because once youre seated youll be delighted to experience authentic, Japanese culture. The jazz music in the background adds a swanky touch, along with the beautiful dishes you are served with. Every detail at this establishment compliments each other. I will be coming back!

Comment: Come early! We really enjoyed our meal. Luckily we came right as they opened. No. Wait. Service was great. Food was great. Coffee was definitely a fun experience. Only thing is dont let the pictures fool you. These are average to smallish portions. They appear bigger in photos. They are definitely smaller than they appear but the food was delicious. We enjoyed everything. Definitely come for the experience.

Comment: Great omu egg. The egg sandwich wasnt too impressive. Hot cake was extremely fregrent with milky flavor but not very sweet so if one likes subtle flavored Asian sweets itd be a excellent choice but if one expects strong flavors like American deserts, itd disappoint. We went on a Saturday afternoon around 1:45, got seated around 2:35, and received food around 3:20. Small place, about twelve bar seats, you get to go in when people leave, no reservations. So overall it was quite a wait. I wouldnt recommend this to tourist friends since theres a lot options east village has to offer. But for a local New Yorker this could be a cute little brunch option.

Comment: The service is friendly, and the food is delicious. Coffee is also great. There are only a handful seats at the counter, so if you want to grab lunch I would recommend getting there before opening time to make sure you are seated without wait. Would definitely come back.

Comment: So good. Get seats while you can, fills up really fast. The women who own it are really sweet, but be sure to follow the in house rules (some things take longer to cook than others, etc.) The hotcakes are amazing and the siphon coffee is worth it!!

Comment: Found this place on yelp and looks great so decided to give it try. Was raining but still line out the door. Wait about 30 minutes before sitting. They place is tiny, about 12 sits at the bar that is about it. We ordered Omurice which is great. Hot cake is okay for me, but my wife like it. Coffee is good, but they came after we pretty much done with our meal. Overall still good place for a meal.

Comment: Great service and awesome food. Very reminiscent of small restaurants in Japan. I got their omurice with demiglace and katsu and katsu sandwich. Both were delicious. Downside is the wait time is pretty long so try to go on a weekday instead. I went on Friday for their lunch service and waited about 45 mins to an hour so I can imagine weekends the wait would be much worse. I would definitely recommend trying here at least once though!

Comment: Great place to go.The prices are fair. The menu is diverse and has a lot to offer. This is a place to visit multiple times since there is plenty to try.Their hot cakes are fluffy and satisfying.Their egg dishes tend to be a little bland. The drinks were well balanced.Limited seating, so expect a wait. The staff is extremely kind and adhere to the same hospitality standards as Japan does.Their bathroom has the Toto, so if you gotta go-go, then youre good to go with the Toto. (Disclaimer: this review has not been sponsored by Toto or any of its affiliates.)*Tip*- If you want the Katsu: they make only 10 a day starting 12P.M! So, get there around 11:30A.M., by the time you get a seat itll be near 12P.M., then you can thank me after. They have brunch hours until 5P.M., so dont expect to get hot cakes during their evening hours. Its soley a bar during those times.I highly recommend you go here for food and drinks. #DoubleWhammy. Was my review helpful?Let me know with a like, so I know that Im helping you on your journey to better foraging experiences.

Comment: A beautiful small interior, with great service, great coffe/food BUTthe interior, is just beautiful, you feel you are in the past, the mello background music fits perfect to the decoration and you feel calm and you def enjoy their coffee and the deserts were amazing. The staff super friendly. I understand that New York rent is super expensive and that every chair is a very important fact in making more money but i felt take one chair out and everybody would sit lil more comfy, specially in a winter time where you have ton of layers on you. I will be back because i am curious to see this space on an evening.

Comment: They do coffee pretty seriously here. Personally felt like the food could be better (the omurice and demi-glace was a bit cold and not as flavorful. Pork katsu on the drier side. Worth a visit for the ambiance.

Comment: We got here about 20 minutes before they opened and got seats. A group of people who got in line behind us did not get seats and had to wait another hour to get inside. Its a small space and all seats are bar seating for about 16 people total. The interior is tasteful and a great mix of old Western and Eastern designs. The food here is great and I would recommend going with a few people so you can order a few things off the menu and share. We had the hot cakes, omurice, latsu sandwich, and pasta. They were all delicious!

Comment: Im not much of a brunch person, but hot dang this hit the spot I never knew I had! Had the katsu omurice with demi-glace sauce. The sauce was perfectly balanced with enough acid from wine (or whatever alcohol) to offset richness. Eggs were cooked soft and a little runny. Personally, I like my eggs runnier, but given these are probably not eggs from japan and the salmonella issues with mass produced eggs here in the states, I dont blame them for cooking a little more. My wife had the hot cakes, which were fluffy and delicious! Overall, a cool place with a great selection of coffee, teas, and drinks! And in the evenings this place turns over to become a nice cocktail bar serving all types of drinks and bar food.

Japanese Iced coffee was awesome. not bitter at all, had soft gulping, smooth texture. i really liked coffee. saw a person just did take-out coffee instead of meal. katsu sando is basic. but omurice was great! worth coming here.

Comment: Come here every time Im in the city. It is my favorite place.During the day they serve the most amazing coffee, omurice (get the Demi-glace and cheese), hotcakes and sandwiches. It can fill up quick but its worth the wait.In the evening they turn into a sake bar with a very diverse selection, now with some Japanese whiskey. They also have small plates, would recommend Berkshire sausage, ankimo, karage, and gyu-don. Everything is good those are just my usual go to food.If youve never had sake before, its a good place to go. Their staff is knowledgeable, especially Kodai. Sake is very similar to wine in its attributes, so if you know what flavor profile you enjoy they will be able to help you out. There are also a few mixed drinks, sake mojito, sakegria, yuzuomoi (yuzu is a citrus tasting like a tangerine, lime, and lemon), matcha sake, and plum wine. All in all it is a very relaxing place, with good food and drinks. Stumbled upon it one trip and never left. The staff still remember me. Haha.

Comment: Its always hard to get a spot here during lunch rush. Ive been wanting to try their omurice! Today we got to tryMenti PastaThis was really simple but flavorful im a fan of this kind of pasta its light but filling and easy to eat for lunch or a quick bite. Good sized portion and consistencydemi glace omurice with katsuThis is a favorite so its red wine reduction sauce, glazed over the fluffy egg and it was yummy, the katsu is nicely sized and breaded. I just wanted to dip things back in the sauce the egg / rice.cream omurice with KatsuThe cream sauce is a bit different but still very good, it has less of a tarty taste. More rich and creamy kind of sauce with your omurice and egg! They also are a sakebar at night! Clean bathroom as well. Just come early and be prepared to wait 20-30 mins, its not a very big place, bar seating at best 10 people?Next time I need come back for coffee!Check out the pictures and follow my IG Jliueats / LcrazyaznL

Comment: The place has bar seating only and can house approximately 10 people across at once. I wouldnt suggest dining here as a large group but arriving either on your own or with a few friends would be an experience to be had.I heeded the advice of others and avoided the lunch rush by entering the shop at half past 1pm. I took a seat and ordered an Omurice with a sausage topping and followed up with hotcakes and a topping of chocolate chips. Both plates were sublime. The omelette was cooked to perfection and matched with the gravy and rice, it was an explosion of flavor in the mouth. The hotcakes were crisp on the top and bottom layer with a soft crumbling middle.I had ordered the Omurice first and completed it before placing the order for the hotcakes which came out 15 minutes later. I considered I might be too full to devour the hotcakes after but that proved to be false. If youre interested in both, order at the same time so they arrive in a timely and staggered manner.Whether youre in the area or not, this is not a spot to miss. If you have doubts about where to go for a quick bite, shelve them and head here. You wont regret it.
