Comment: We went for a birthday celebration. Everyone loved the sushi and the tempura. 6 of our party ordered the all you can eat items, they were quick to bring food out. We like the set up of the large booths with benches in the restaurant. Even though they bring the food out rapid fire, it definitely doesnt appear that they skimp on attention to detail Im making the sushi rolls. Beautiful plating.

Comment: Great all you can eat sushi place, though they do regular menu service as well. Unlike some places the food comes out very quickly even when they are very busy. Hoshi uses paper menus so no difficulty navigating a tablet menu that isnt so intuitive. They have a wide selection of kitchen and simple sushi as well as numerous complex rolls. I recommend sitting at the booths in the back, the ambiance adds a little something to the meal. The miso soup is perfect, the avocado and house salad come with a lovely dressing. The beef negimaki is pretty good and so are the veggier and tofu tempuras. I usually order a little something off the regular menu as well, since scallop avocado crunchy hand rolls are my favorite. There is no scallop on the all you can eat menu unfortunately. Overall not a fancy sushi place but a comfy favorite for lunch for sure.

I have never eaten them before at all. It was probably more than ten years ago. Since then, this place has become one of my favorite restaurants. I have never been disappointed. Nice and friendly service, fresh food.I often order take-out food, I just call and pick it up in 20 minutes. But hopefully meeting friends again for lunch or dinner inside a restaurant soon like it was before COVID.One of my favorite salads is Salmon, avocado salad (tuna or salmon, avocado and seaweed with mayonnaise and tobiko crunch on top).By the way, green tea and ice cream are delicious too!Today my pick for lunch was: Avocado Salad, Rainbow Roll, Sushi Salmon Roll, Sharon Heart Roll. Everything was delicious!

The wait staff was extremely friendly to us, always refilled our waters, brought us new menus, etc. If they ever seem unfriendly it is because they can get extremely busy on weekend evenings. The food quality is INCREDIBLE. Every single time it tastes like fresh fish. Not only is the quality extraordinary, but their presentation of the food is spectacular is well. The rolls are made immaculately which isn’t important but it just adds to the experience of eating at Hoshi — the best sushi restaurant I’ve ever been to.

Their wait staff is not very friendly and do not keep up on water refills or giving you new order sheets. They forget certain things you order so you have to wait until a new sheet to try to order again. It can be frustrating and take a long time. If you get seated in the back, good luck! Be aware the bathrooms are always very dirty and smell. Always a mess and very gross :/. But the manager and sushi chefs are great and very friendly and if you sit at the bar, they are great company and they slide you some fun things to try!! Otherwise, love this place. Highly recommend. My favorite all time sushi restaurant in Suffolk county. Their quality is AMAZING, the taste of their fish is unbeatable. Their all you can eat menu is amazing and it makes the restaurant that much more enjoyable. They give LARGE pieces of fish whether take out or dine in, you get what you pay for. VERY GREAT PRICING.

BUT, the sushi chefs really know what theyre doing and make some of the best sushi I have ever had everytime. I cant bring myself to give a rating less than 5 stars due to how well the chefs prepare everything. Remember, I have been here a minimum of 30 times and never once had an issue that was big enough for me to complain about. This is a good establishmentioned I highly recommend it to anyone.

Comment: If you go during the day, they wont have sashimi, but their rolls are always delicious, the rolls and appetizers usually come very quickly, and they are always helpful. I always go for the all you can eat, which is a little pricey if you go for dinner on the weekends, but otherwise it is a wonderful place around the Stony Brook campus

Comment: I have been coming to this sushi restaurant for many years and I have never had a problem. The owners are excellent and the sushi has always satisfied. I love the wooden interior compared to a lot of other sushi bars.

Comment: Generous servings, tasty sashimi and unadon, and much more worth this same price Ive paid for literally half as much food for delivery to the dorms. Took a bit long for delivery, but it was late and far, and the food was still hot when it arrived, so no star deductions.

Comment: I went for the hibachi with my kids and a great time was had by all. The chef puts on a cute show (complete with throwing food in your mouth) and the kids loved the fire. The food was delicious and the bill was reasonable.

Comment: High quality sushi. They give you lots of fish and only a little rice in the rolls so you dont have to worry too much about carbs. However, some of the special rolls exceed 10 dollars, when you can just remove 1 ingredient and you get a non-special roll for 4 bucks.
