Comment: Have been coming here since they first opened, the times with the free ramen coupons. During those times, the quality of the noodles and chashu and taste of the broth was fantastic. But now, 2024, during the changes theyve done from ordering on the iPad instead of the booth. Noodle texture arent accurate medium noodles feel like soft noodles, extra firm noodles feel like medium. The chashu is bland tasting, undercooked, and dark. The broth wasnt as tasty. I normally order (3x)Chashu (1x)full Medium kadama + (1x)soft noodle, etc, spend about $70 per visit. As often as Ive gone here, I could tell something up with quality control. Ive gone mostly during opening hours 12:30 pm or Sunset hours

Comment: I haven’t been here in 6 years, but it still tastes as amazing as it did before! They definitely upgraded their technology and I still appreciate the service and experience that you get here compared to any other ramen place! Highly recommend going here, the tonkotsu broth is amazing along with the noodles!

Comment: Nice place to stop for lunch. I got the vegan ramen and the seaweed which was three slices and it was about $25. I dont know what time to tell you to get here to miss the lunch rush but I was there around 1:30 p.m. the food was amazing and you get to sit in your own little booth so you dont have to be bothered by other people if you dont want to 😊

Comment: When it comes to dining on your own, Ichiran is the best. It serves hearty tonkotsu soup with customisable noodles and toppings. A more personal experience is guaranteed by the minimal setup, yet some people might miss group dining. For real, customized ramen delight, its a unique chain with effective service and reliable quality. $20 gets you a bowl, $7 gets you an extra topping paired with an egg, and theres no tipping here. 5 out of 5.

Comment: I visited this place with my family, and we had a great time eating. savory and mouthwatering! Wonderful dashi sauce! The chasu had an excellent seasoning! Although additional sides come at an additional cost, the overall experience was positive. The menu was small, but the selection was excellent. The personnel was polite, professional, and attentive. The atmosphere was laid back and relaxed. admired the beauty a lot. Although Im glad we went, I believe my family and I are accustomed to the all-you-can-eat ramen restaurants we frequent. Nevertheless, I would suggest this location to everyone.

Comment: A foodie friend of mine wanted me to come here and I will admit I’ve found my number one favorite Ramen spot and it’s Ichiran, I’ll explain why. This spots is my favorite because you’re able to customize your entire ramen order. Literally from the richness of the oils in the broth to how firm or soft you’d like your noodles. They don’t really let you fully customize your order in other spots. We arrived here at a good time when there wasn’t a line and soon after we left as shown in the photos there was a line. That’s how good this place is.Both their dry Asahi beer and Samurai Saki was absolutely amazing with the entire meal. 🍺I ordered extra pork belly, noodles, egg, so that’s why I have alot of food in my photo. I think a minimum ramen order is $20 and it add up fast, think I paid almost $150 for me and my friend and we both order the same stuff. My friend ordered the dessert and he said it was quite delicious.I’ll be going to Japan for Christmas so I’ll visit the location there too. I’ll definitely post photos on google maps so follow me to stay tuned!Definitely coming back here before my Christmas trip to Japan.

Comment: Ichiran is a classic ramen spot to visit if you are in the area. The food will always be pretty decent. The ramen does not compare to what I have had in Japan (or even Paris for that matter), but for NYC standards it’s quiet good. It is saddening to me the lack of good ramen places in NYC, despite NYC being overall a decent gastro city. So, I don’t want to be too harsh on Ichiran, perhaps my expectations are high. One thing they do have world class though are the eggs which are boiled to perfection. There usually is a line outside. Sometimes their system works and you get served rather well, sometimes the system fails utterly. I don’t mind the wait, but for an established organization such as this, they sure can be more organized in the way they deal with the huge line of waiting people.

Comment: Ichiran excels in solo ramen dining, offering rich tonkotsu broth with customizable noodles and toppings. The minimalist setup ensures an intimate experience, though some may miss communal dining. Efficient service and consistent quality make it a standout chain for authentic, personalized ramen enjoyment. $20 for a bowl, $7 for extra topping set with egg, and no tipping at this establishment. 5/5

Comment: This place may be a little out of the way, but it’s a shorter trip than flying to Japan. It’s the closest thing you can get to an experience like you would get in Japan. You might think it’s a tourist trap but other than not having a toto washlet (like every Japanese restaurant seemingly does) or having the 15 rolls of toilet paper mounted on the walls, this is spot on.Come for the delicious ramen, stay for the Japanese aesthetic.

I’m so glad there’s one close to me without having to travel into Manhattan.Star of the show is no doubt their Ramen and with endless variations of customization, each bowl is surely to be unique. I also enjoy the fact they have so many side dishes and alcoholic beverages to choose from. It’s more than just having a bowl of Ramen, it’s a complete meal.Ambiance is casual however their hospitality and service is exactly what you expect from a Japanese restaurant.Ample street parking nearby but easiest on weekends.

Comment: First time having ramen and I’m so happy that I was taken to Ichiran for the authentic experience. We went for lunch and found parking around the block from it. There was about a 10 min wait before we got seated. We both ordered the tonkatsu ramen with the recommended additions. I didn’t order any spice because I knew it would be too much for me but the broth was so flavorful and the pork was so soft and delicate. I loved all the toppings and the egg was delicious. I also ordered a hot green tea and it definitely was appreciated since we went around winter time. They also have free tap water you could refill yourself. I loved the experience of ordering by circling on the menu what I want. I can’t wait to go back again! Side note - if you’re debating between this location and the one in Manhattan, I would suggest this one first.

Comment: Its simple. Just good ramen and of course the unique experience. Price is little above average, but I know the food quality I am getting each time. Some people may prefer boujee, non-franchise spots in Brooklyn for ramen but this is the most solid spot I have found so far. Soup base is rich and flavorful with each bite of perfectly cooked ramen to your liking. Also, I really enjoy their Matcha pudding, although on the pricier side. We usually go right before noon and beat the crowd. Otherwise be ready to wait, the line can form all the way outside.

Comment: Probably the best ramen spot in New York. I have been to both the Midtown and Brooklyn locations and they are pretty much the same other than the wait times (Brooklyn doesnt seem to be too busy). They serve donkotsu ramen, with multiple options for customization. The broth is rich but not too fatty and the noodles are cooked to perfection. The only thing that I think can be improved is the chashu which was pretty chewy, not the typical chashu that melts in your mouth. I recommend adding extra noodles (kae dama or 1/2 kae dama) as the portions arent big.

Comment: Ichiran is one of those places you love but cant go as much as you would like due to being expensive. I love ichiran, by far one of my favorite ramen place and i dont just go their for the food i go their for the experience; the experience of their solo dining tables. Their solo dining tables give you the privacy and isolation you want if you are dining alone. It isnt awkward at all, and the overall vibe is cozy. Their is usually a wait, and it fils up fast, so if you arent going their when i first opens, be prepared to wait. At this location, they offer the solo dining option and regular tables option. When you get their you are going to be asked how many people are in your party and then given a paper to customize your ramen and order whatever you want on the menu. The prices are displayed on the paper so you know how much everything is. After that, you are seated, and you give your paper to the person of the other side of the booth. You can not see their face, and they can not see yours. The ramen is sooo good and very satisfying. I love it a lot. However, i can not have it as much as i want due to the price. It is very expensive for a regular bowl of ramen, Ichiran is one of those places you should visit, like twice a year, lol. Other than the price, the food and environment is amazing

Comment: If you’ve ever had Ichiran in Japan, this definitely hits the spot when you’re missing Ichiran and helped fulfill that nostalgia of eating ramen in Japan. And the experience is almost identical, with individual booths and the call button. And no tipping is required! The ramen is customizable to your liking; I got the classic tonkotsu ramen ($19.90). The provide with you with a paper that you can fill out to customize while you wait for a seat. There is an additional add on set of toppings which you can also add to your ramen, as well as other side snacks and drinks. I like my ramen broth on the saltier and richer side, and the broth was definitely super super flavorful and rich, not too heavy, and warms you up on a cold winter day - my favorite part of the ramen bowl. The spicy sauce added a nice depth of flavor and was not overwhelmingly spicy. Noodles are thin and chewy and the chashu pork was super tender.I went on a weekday for dinner around 7pm and the wait was about 15-20 minutes, but the food arrived pretty quickly. Surprisingly, the line was even longer after I finished eating. As it is a popular spot and the only Ichiran in Brooklyn, expect to wait. And the location itself feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere; there’s not much to do in the neighborhood.Downsides: Definitely on the pricier side; $20 for a bowl of ramen is not cheap. But it hits the spot if you long for Ichiran. The ramen itself is not super filling, if you’re hungry or have a bigger appetite. The food does not go as deep/as tall as the bowl is.Definitely would recommend and return; it’s one of the better ramen spots/chains in the city.Pro tip: sign up for their rewards program. At 1point/$1 spent, you’ll earn 20 points, which is enough for a half kaedama (noodle refill). You’ll need it for next time.

Comment: Very welcoming atmosphere from the minute you walk in, and the employees are equally as welcoming. The wait for the food is not long and while the prices have increased, the amazing quality is still the same as ever. I would personally recommend the premium Yakibuta.A must go for any person visiting New York City or Brooklyn. Well worth the price and time.

Comment: Outdoor line was long kind of long on Saturday after 6pm. But the host keeps track of people and tries to get everyone inside as soon as possible. I ate at the “individual” section of the restaurant with a friend, but the dividers have hinges which we opened so that we weren’t so isolated from each other. I’ve honestly never experienced this kind of seating. It’s pretty interesting that we never see our servers and that water is self serve (they are a no tip establishment). We were given little menus to check off the texture of our noodles, spicy-ness, the sides and beverage (there might’ve been more but I forgot). There are buttons to press once we are ready to submit our orders (as well as to request extra noodles). The ramen was amazing. I loved being there and it felt like quite the experience. Definitely recommend to visit (I think they also have a rewards program for anyone who gets hooked on their food).

Comment: On a Sunday afternoon there was a 20 minute wait for a group of 4.Once it is your turn they hand your group a clipboard with the menu.Broth was super tasty. Better than Hokkaido (Boston) but not as good as Kizuki .I loved the ability to do some customization . Next time I come here I wont get the topping set.I wish they had wavy noodles. Straight noodles just dont hit the same and have a boring texture.I hope the staff are paid a living wage since this restaurant does not accept tips. Service was good and they are able to split checks. They accept credit cards. The bathrooms are unisex /gender neutral and are near the front. For some weird reason there are like 20 toilet paper rolls on the wall lol.

Comment: This was great Tonkotsu ramen! Refill please! Cleared the bowl and all the soup. The spicy sauce was a bit salty for my taste tho, might try less and mix more thoroughly next time. The special Yalibuta was not great in our opinion. We will most likely pass on our next visit. We still stick with the regular chasu and soft boiled eggs.We also had the iced matcha green tea. It was watery and tasteless in our opinion. Will definitely pair it with something else eon the next visit. The kids ramen bowl was super well priced! They had a blast for this meal. The matcha pudding was the perfect ending to the meal. It was so smooth and silky! This is a must get item!Next visits order: Ramen, refill, topping set, ginger ale, matcha pudding! See you soon! 😁

Comment: Excellent place to go for some ramen in the Brooklyn area, plenty of seating and free water machine to cool off during the warm summer, I got the tonkotsu ramen with all the toppings I liked and 10x spicy which definatly had a little kick, you get to customize your ramen experience and the servers are friendly and quick to please, I would recommend this experience to any ramen enthusiasts, for the bowl of ramen with the toppings I got, and a soda it was around 30$ or so, not a cheap meal but worth the price for the memory

Comment: Its not my favourite ramen in the city, especially at this price, its like $20 for a base ramen with meat, but then costs more for things like a boiled egg (which you have to peel yourself). Its worth noting that gratuity is included in the prices, so while I find it expensive, its not as bad as it might look.I dont think Ill be back, just not my favourite ramen in the city.

Comment: This was one of the best ramen bowls I have ever tried, and may well be the best plain tonkotsu I have tried. The place it really shines is the chashu pork which is the best Ive had, though I am disappointed they do not offer a pork belly option. The recommend sides added a lot, though I was disappointed by the egg. At this price point I would have expected a soft-boiled, marinated egg instead of an unshelled medium-hard boiled egg.Noddles were good and cooked to order. No choice for thickness or noddle style, but they were as one would hope.

Comment: A ramen lover’s dream. The booth style is a fun and innovative experience in enjoying the ramen, but makes it hard to go with more than 2 people. That’s alright though, because the ramen really takes up all your attention anyways. Chewy noodles, thin and tender chashu, and most of all a rich, yet light broth that is comforting and not too heavy. Pricey, and a long wait, but definitely worth it. Some of the best ramen you can get outside of Japan itself.

Comment: Highly recommend for those love ramen. The menus are simple and easy to understand. There only one soup base but you can choose the spicy and saltiness. There are few simple ingredients you can add and of course they also have recommended combination to make it simple. I would recommend saving some sides for your added ramen. With thats said yes you can add ramen too. They have five different softness of ramen you can choose from. But they wont be able to add soup so make sure dont drink it all until you know you will not add anymore ramen. Theres also various drinks on the menu but only one dessert thats the pudding. Its very fresh and light dessert. For the extra ramen and dessert all you have to do is press the service call button then place mini tray on the button too. Theres wifi at the restaurant. What I like is individually seating with privacy but also retractable divider for social group. The only thing I didnt find was parking so might have to look around the area a little to find parking.

Comment: I went here for the first time with my boyfriend about a month ago and I have to say it definitely is one of my favorite Ramen places. The Ramen is customizable and has such a great flavor that’s the rich and so fresh. The noodle texture is perfect I don’t even give you the option of how you want your noodles cooked. It definitely is more expensive than other Ramen restaurants, however for the experience as well as the authentic taste I would definitely come back and actually did return with my mother last week. The first time I had the experience of sitting at the booth which I really loved and was very different than any restaurant I had been to before, and last week I was seated at a table instead since it was available. Sometimes there can be a wait and I would say most of the time this does happen so in order to avoid that I would say either go in in the early evening or order takeout. The first time I think I waited an hour and a second time I went I waited for about 35 minutes, bring a book or expect to hang out for a bit with the person you’re getting food with if you go with someone of course. What I did find rather strange is their seating wait list. Instead of an a regular restaurant taking down your name, party size and phone number here they decided to just take down your party size and name. Therefore you kind of have to wait around in the restaurant because there’s no way of knowing your table is ready. I understand it can be confusing at times especially if you have to wait over an hour since you would just have to wait around in the restaurant, perhaps in the future they’ll make necessary adjustments since this system definitely needs improvement. Overall though, for the price and wait time, I would definitely go back and I feel like any ramen lover should taste this Ramen at least once to see how they like it.Tips:-even if you’re not a spicy lover, try getting mild hot sauce. When Customizing your soup, Will ask you how much spice you want and I definitely recommend mild or medium. It gives it a different flavor and a nice touch.-order the vinegar on the side. I think it cost around $1.50 to add onto your Ramen and it’s definitely umami/sour taste that goes well. Even if you don’t end up using the entire thing if you don’t like it, I still think it goes really well with the Ramen and it is worth at least giving it a try-I recommend the Kae dama - noodle refill.-this restaurant is a non-tipping establishment-if you’re seated in the booths, know there is water you self serve near the front.-try the matcha pudding if you like matcha or green tea flavors

Everything is fully customizable and this is definitely top notch ramen compared to the other popular spots. A bit pricier but tipping is discouraged here (their policy). Comment: Tasted just as great as Ichiran Ramen I had in Tokyo few years ago. However, Ichiran uses different bowl for their ramen in this location. It comes in a rectangular box with a lid instead of a rounded bowl. It looks very fancy. They have the same set up in the restaurant with divided sections for individual diners. Curtain is pulled down so the waiting staff don’t see you when you enjoy their delicious noodle. You may press the bell when you need to get their attention. I highly recommend their matcha pudding for dessert. By the way, it’s a no tipping establishment.

Comment: Ramen was great! Broth was tasty, though i shouldve ordered extra chashu. For a booth type concept i think the only thing that could be better is the speed. I imagined service would be quick but we surprisingly had to wait for our food to be served up. If you like chewy noodles, get soft texture! The firm ones are like noodles that havent been cooked so may taste a bit too al dente for Ramen.

Comment: I went with 2 other people in the late afternoon, around 3pm on a Sunday and there was no line. Service was a little slow and theres the option of sitting in the booths or sitting in tables with larger groups. The big issue was that there wasnt enough air conditioning and it was fairly warm. The food was very good though on the pricey side. The only major issue I saw was that the soft boiled egg wasnt really soft boiled and almost cooked to the point of hard boiled. I would definitely come back though because the broth and the noodles are great. The char siu could be a bit more generous as if you add the basic toppings its already a minimum of $25 per person. The matcha pudding I would definitely get again as its very refreshing, as is the cold matcha latte. Strangely enough, a lot of the drink options have run out already. There are two gender neutral bathrooms and although they require codes, the codes are printed above the number pads. They accept Apple Pay and Google Pay along with credit card and cash.

This is only one of two locations they have here in the United States, their other location are from their own country. My daughter brought me here and she said its the best shes ever had. Now Im going to find myself comparing this experience to others restaurants that serve this kind of meals. I had the classic bowl with matcha pudding for dessert and a little Sake to complete my meal. This was my first time ever trying this and also at this location but Im 100% sure its not my last.Prices are on the higher-end but you get what youre paying for. Comment: We thoroughly enjoyed the food here, though was a little confused by how to order. A couple of times where we were told that if the side didnt come out, then we would not be charged for it...which happened with a side of the marinated meat, which I decided not to press. Really liked the matcha pudding. Not sure if this was a typical experience as I didnt expect to have to remind them of what we ordered. The wait to get a table wasnt the problem...but the lack of a list of who came first also felt disorganized with the hostess constantly asking who was here first. However, they were very courteous and the service was nice.

Comment: I have to applaud this establishments efforts in maintaining during these difficult times. They check your temperature, take your information for contact tracing (a little too much information for my liking but I understand). The restaurant takes your name and adds you to a digital waitlist. You receive a cool text with your place in line. I waited about 22 minutes to be seated since the establishment is only allowed 25% capacity for indoor dining. The establishment does not have outdoor dining. The ramen was delicious and tasty as expected.I strongly recommend coming in small groups of 2 or 3. The establishment cannot seat large parties because of covid restrictions and the intended purpose of the establishment which is primarily solo dining. The experience was nonetheless fantastic.I wish they opened their midtown location to alleviate some of the stress on this location in Brooklyn.

Ended up visiting this Brooklyn location at around 10:30pm and got a seat straight away. It’s a great place and would definitely come back. The broth is the best I’ve had! Noodles were good too, not the best but certainly up there. Also had the Yakibuta which was ok but not as good as the claimed by the instagram reviewer plastered on the wall of the booth.Really enjoyed the interior. Never been to a ramen place in Japan but imagine this must be how one looks. My favourite part was when I went to pay, the Latino looking guy at the counter says “how was your noodles?” in an Asian accent. Not sure if this is part of the thing but absolutely cracked me up. Will come back for sure!

Comment: This is an authentic Japanese ramen restaurant with an ordering and dining experience like you would experience in Tokyo. Fantastic ramen, although you can get ramen just as good without the experience for less in NYC. The matcha pudding was the standout here - like a matcha creme brûlée without the torched sugar on top. It was one of the best desserts I’ve had in a long time. Full meal was about $45 with the recommended ramen, 2 sodas and dessert. Ordering on a paper from the single person booths allow you to order without speaking to anyone, although you can open them up to seat multiple people in a row better. Waited 20 minutes to be seated which is normal for dinner. I wouldn’t go here regularly, but would recommend everyone goes at least once because of the authentic Japanese experience and the NYC standard, perfect ramen.

Comment: If ramen is on your mind, its Ichiran on mind! Super yummy ramen and the setting feels like Japan. Though i’ve never been to Japan, which i love to, the setting is unlike any western resto. You wait to be seated to an assiged seat or table should i call it. If theres two of you, side divider is collapsable so both of you can be side by side without a divider.Extra ramen & meat can be ordered at a minimun cost. I say order extra and keep some broth in your bowl. Theres Japanese alcoholic drinks like Asahi beer with my besti got. I ordered the original ramune drink that has ice on top of the bottle neck. So cool.Available street parking right in front and across. They also have 2 other branches in Manhattan, one of which is by time square. Highly recommended place!

Comment: I had one in Hongkong(I didn’t know that you have to order the toppings, and I literally had a bowl of plain noodles)but in Brooklyn, the staff will ask you if u know how to order(they also have the instructions on menu!) it’s perfect for solo and the food are amazing, and you can peel your own egg! The dessert is the best!!! Must try!!! However, they don’t accept tips!

Comment: This place has the most delicious ramen in all of Brooklyn. And this conglomeration came straight from Japan! Had it there, and had it here in NY. Big difference from Japan to NYC is the price. This is my go to place to eat ramen when it’s just a party for two (always seems easy to get a booth seating). So authentic to Japan culture. I like firm noodles personally and normal. Desert is always small but delicious. You won’t be disappointed!

Comment: If youre in Brooklyn this is a must go for ramen lovers. With the privacy stalls, and minimum amount of communication youre able to fully focus on your food, and enjoy its amazing flavour profile. Pricing is definitely on a bit more of the expensive side, but every penny is worth it. Highly reccomend it.

Comment: Good solid experience, noodles were great, meat tasted good, broth was nice but lacking a bit of depth. Service was great and accommodating of us and our little man, we arrived early as we knew he wouldn’t be as quiet for ramen contemplating. Amazing that they do a free Kids ramen, but location is a bit out of the way and awkward to walk to. Didn’t realize beforehand, they also have Manhattan restaurants that would have been easier for us to get to.

Comment: This place is pricey, but you have to factor in the fact that this is a no tipping establishment, which sort of makes it okay? Other than that, the ramen and the service is fantastic. The individual booths make for a personal experience with the food. The ramen is customizable and you fill out a piece of paper indicating your liking. The perfectly bouncy noodles just cling on to the flavorful broth, so that every bite is amazing. Ive been here multiple times and Ive left incredibly satisfied every single time.

Comment: This was my 1st time experiencing something like this. I got to tell you it was pretty cool. You sit at your own booth weather its single or more. You can order a classic soup or customize it to your liking. For example, the spiciness, texture of noodles, garlicky...etc.You can add toppings. You order on a peice of paper and push a button for service. Service is quick too! The only thing I did not like was there is only pork meat. I eat it, but my bf doesnt. They are a bit pricey just for some soup. I paid $25 for soup and add on boiled egg and seaweed. I went alone on this day. I would love to come back and have another friend experience this great place.

Comment: Expensive, but worth it (and no tipping!). I haven’t been able find this style of ramen served at such a high level of quality anywhere else in NYC. You must go and experience this place if you are a ramen lover like myself. You can customize your ramen to fit your tastes but I highly recommend making your broth RICH! I wish they would include the egg in each order... but it’s so good I always order one anyway.

Comment: Absolute best ramen in NYC for consistency, allowing customization, friendly staff and it being a tip free establishment. Everyone needs livable wage. I digress. I took out one star because there will be a wait most times even during summer, it could be worse now so set your expectations straight. Don’t be that guy that boast he had to wait 1.5hrs for a ramen. Also if your stomach can’t handle tap water do yourself a favor and get a bottled one. You’ve been warned. I hope Ichiran stays for good. I’m always here when I need a pick me upper.

Comment: Great tasting ramen. Broth is fantastic, noodles are great, chasu pork in delicious. Love how you can customize how much salt and oil you want in your broth. I usually dont like ramen because of this, but the light options (1) on this ramen is great. The only complaints as you might have already read is the prices are on the high end and the amount of noodle you get compared to the shops in Japan are lacking.

Comment: While I am no stranger to solo dining, Ichiran takes it up a notch! This famous ramen chain has become ramen lovers must-do, and I rode a long train ride just for this! By providing solo booths, they claim you get to maximize sensory enjoyment of ramen. After you get your order, they close the blinds in the front and you basically can only look at your meal.Prices are inflated at this NY location and this was my most expensive ramen meal by far. I found the taste of the ramen to be good, but not mind-blowingly so. I splurged on an extra side of pork belly (delicious); a hard boiled egg that was cooked in a tonkotsu broth that was very flavourful and meant to be eaten before & separately from the ramen; and a side of kikurage mushrooms (not overly impressed)While this chain stress diners to be quiet as not to disturb others, I found it quite strange that they have a loud musical chime playing everytime someone press the button in front of them for service....All in all, it was worth trying at least once 😂Check out @instantonium on Instagram for more great eats

Comment: Expensive. But the ramen is overall excellent. You can specify exactly how soft or aldente you want your noodles cooked, its all check boxes on the order form you had to someone behind the curtain of your individual booth. The divider to the next one over can be folded back for larger parties. The one issue is the style of egg Ichiran serves - hard boiled in extra concentrated tonkotsu broth. The difference in taste from a regular hard-boiled eggs was hard to discern and the addition was not worth the price.

Comment: The ramen served here is on par with some of the best I’ve ever tasted and rightly so as this restaurant has a counterpart in Japan. Come for the ramen but keep coming back for the unique food experience offered here. Like traditional Japanese ramen restaurants this place offers single cubicle seating but the walls separating each area may be removed for parties of two or more. Traditional table seating is available but you’d be missing the point of this unique restaurant. The ramen has a very rich flavor which is further supplemented by the unique sauce added to the soup. The noddles are cooked evenly throughout. Other items such as deserts can be added and further condiments and foods may be added to order to make your own unique ramen. Food comes out quickly as waiters are in an aisle directly ahead of you, with a wooden block added for your privacy only to open when food or drink is presented. Prices are expensive so expect a ramen to be within the $20-30 range. There is a great beer selection but if I were you I would order an Asahi Dry or Sapporo to fully round out your Japanese ramen experience. The restaurant is basically an attraction in and of itself. P.S. - Don’t be afraid to loudly slurp to your heart’s content as it’s customary in Japan to do so.

Comment: Not too happy about it being pricey but the food amazing. Hands down my favorite spot to get Ramen in the tri-state area. Top quality, authentic Japanese ramen that I have missed so much from my trip to Japan. They offer a great isolated experience if you choose to dine in peace with your own thoughts. The ability to fully customize your order without having to explain to to someone is refreshing. The options are endless. Your order is processed fast which only betters the experience of customizing your order. The staff is very friendly and respectful and very knowledgeable about the food and authentic experience. I’ll mention is once again, the food is pricey something that I wish would change so I could eat here more frequently without having to break the bank, but over all 5 stars in my book. I have probably recommended this location to about 50 people who had nothing but great things to say.

Comment: Besides ramen in Japan, the best place for tonkotsu broth ramen. The broth was so flavorful and yummy! The good thing about the broth is that it is not too salty and it doesnt taste too heavy & thick like at some other ramen places. Noodles were cooked perfectly according to the your selection. Yes, the place is a bit expensive to come on a weekly basis, but you are paying for the experience and great ramen imported from Japan. The only downside is that I wish they were to include more free toppings than just green onions and sliced of chashu. I was still hungry after the full size kaedame which was a first.Service was prompt as soon as you press the red button. Would come back again to try the broth at extra rich!

Comment: Ichiran Ramen, one of the most highly-regarded Tonkotsu Ramen shops from Fukuoka, Japan, made its way onto American soil in October 2016. I was able to go visit it shortly before its 1-year anniversary. When I arrived, I realized what a random place this ramen spot was in. Dont expect to do much else in this area except enjoy a bowl of ramen and leave.I went during the afternoon on a weekday, and it wasnt busy at all. Ichiran is very known specifically for partitioned booths for solo dining, as well as having the ability to fully customize your bowl of ramen from seasoning stock (dashi), richness, garlic, scallions, sliced pork (chashu), spicy red sauce (Hiden no Tare), and noodle texture. They also have add-ons like noodle refilling (Kae-Dama) and extra ramen toppings and sides you can choose from. This location has 30 partitioned solo booths. When the place gets busy, theres also a large waiting area on the other side of the host counter. When seated, there are hooks for jackets, and they even have hooks underneath the booth for any handbags. The partitions between the booths can be folded away if you dine with anybody else so you can share the counter space. Each booth has all of the information you need from a paper menu to fill out, a history of the restaurant, and styles on how to eat certain items on their menu. There is also a note explaining that this restaurant is a no-tip establishment... how Japanese!I went with their Classic Tonkotsu Ramen for $18.90, and I customized it according to how they would normally serve it. I also added a Tonkotsu Egg for $2.90. This is an egg cooked inside of their classic tonkotsu pork bone broth and a secret marinade until the egg becomes fully-cooked and seasoned throughout. I also ordered an Ichiran Original Matcha Draft Beer for $9.90. This is an Asahi draft beer with matcha green tea powder mixed throughout. When I was ready to order, I pressed the call button ahead of me, and I was served right away. I gave them my order with the filled-out paper menu. After a few minutes, my Matcha Draft Beer arrived. It was really green! Then, my Tonkotsu Egg came out. Youre supposed to eat this prior to the ramen as the texture and taste of the egg acts as a palette resetter. The beer tasted normal going down, and it had a delicious green tea aftertaste. Since the Tonkotsu Egg had been cooked in broth, you could actually taste it with each bite through the egg white! I usually have an egg in my ramen, but this was different for me as the egg was actually dry and used as a palette resetter. I was now ready for the main item!Ichiran really understands that with each passing second in the broth, the noodle actually expands, so they deliver the bowl of ramen as fast as possible. They recommend to take about 3-4 spoonfuls of the broth without any of the ingredients and slurp it down before gradually adding the other items. They say this is to help you understand and experience the various noodle textures and broth intensities.I didnt understand why they called the Hiden no Tare a sauce when it is literally just ground-up spices. Its not saucy at all, so dont expect a rapid change when mixing the spices in. The ramen was definitively delicious, but unfortunately, it didnt have that spicy kick that I enjoy. The service here was really on point. They worked quickly and were very respectful. For a ramen experience, this was absolutely fun, but it was also very expensive. My sister-in-law is from Japan and would not typically pay more than $10 for a bowl of ramen. This Ichiran bowl itself without the egg or beer was already double that price, even if tips were not wanted.I did enjoy my time experiencing Ichiran Ramen. The ramen, egg, and beer were all good, but I dont understand why they chose this random area of Brooklyn for their location. If I was a local, I would come here once just to try it, but the price and location alone would have me consistently going elsewhere for my ramen fix.

Comment: Great place to have authentic ramen in the US. Waits can be long due to limited seating and my party of 3 waited for ~30mins to be seated. Ramen was delish though on the pricey side (~$18.90) - note that this is a no tip establishment. Though the tonkotsu egg was highly recommended, I found it lacking since the yolk was sadly, overdone - the cornerstone of a solid ramen companion is a hard boiled egg with rich, soft, orange yolk. Nonetheless, ramen is customizable and I recommend selecting the richest broth for the best flavor. Definitely worth a visit if you are willing to spend on authentic, delicious ramen (yes the price is high but considering that almost everything has to be imported, it makes sense). However, best not to go in large groups since the wait time might be ridiculous and the single person booths are not conducive for socialization even though the partitions can be folded back.

Comment: Overall, great ramen but too expensive. They seem to low-ball the noodles so you order more for an additional price. That being said it is very tasty, especially with the hiden no tare sauce that is just the right amount of spicy. Tonkotsu egg was great too. Sucks they didnt have whole wheat noodles as an option but thats my preference. All in all cool experience.

Comment: First of all, Im a bit confused as to why people are complaining about the price then giving a bad star rating and review. No one is forcing you to eat here! This is NOT the ramen from ¢25 packets or cup noodle, folks. This is authentic and fresh. Excellent value and authentic flavors.Portions are perfect. Add more if youre still hungry. Order Kae- Dama (extra noodles) if youre still hungry. Ive eaten this in Japan many times before and this outlet in NY is very consistent.Customers seem to not understand the concept of the dining stalls. I think people need to be reminded that the solo stalls are for QUIET dining, no back and forth chit chat, no phone calls. There is meant to be minimal to no interaction. This is meant to be a kind courtesy to fellow diners who dine this way for minimal interaction.I noted that some staff also dont understand the concept, in that they were telling diners they can sit in the solo stalls but also talk by removing partition.

Comment: My wife and I finally decided to give it one more try in a workday. The first attempt was a Sunday after opening. We were shocked by such a long waiting line in the chilling winter morning. I do like the food quality here. Tonkotsu Ramen tastes unlike regular New York ramen. The ramen itself is firm likely because it was made in the factory next door. Both of us liked the broth. The sweat taste is likely from Bonito. We also ordered an extra chashu that is leaner than regular ones but still juicy and tasty. There is no bamboo root, no black mushroom no corn etc. which is a plus in my opinion, bring Ramen back to where it starts.

Comment: It is a very unique ramen experience!Ramen: Made by the production line thats directly next to the ramen shop, you can immediately notice IChiRan is not kidding about bringing their Japan brand name and truth tradition to America at the front door. The quality is outstanding.Broth: Adjustable both from very light to very rich. I had the rich broth and it goes very well with soft noodle. The most amazing part of the broth is the Hiden no Tare (Spicy red sauce) that the put in the center. Word of advice is to eat the ramen starting from the center, so you can experience the best spicy ramen in the city!Chashu: Also very good, but I didnt think it was the main character of the ramen - it is the noodle and broth thats killing it! One thing though if you really want good meat to go with your ramen, I strongly advice you to order the Kamadare Yakibutazara (Simmered pork belly with dried seaweed). Not only the fatty pork belly goes very well with the ramen, the seaweed can be mixed and eaten together with the noodle, giving a brand new taste that I never had before!Side: It is a bit lacking, take a look at the ordering sheet attached in the photo section, but if you want other sides you have to order separately and that rack up the bill quickly. I ordered the woodear mushroom, which was okay.Portion & Price: The portion is a bit on the small end, so for those who want to fully enjoy the broth or really hungry, you should really consider order the full Kae-dama (extra noodle). It is a pricy restaurant, in the end I spent $38 on myself, so I probably would make this like a once every few months experience. Also, no tipping allow. Show you appreciation by slipping your soup really, really loud.If you never been to this restaurant before, you may first notice the booth interior thats unique to the IChiRan. If you are going by yourself or 1~2 friends, definitely choose the booth seating!

Comment: A little pricey but the quality of broth is pretty good. The firm noodle is chewy and slurpy. The mochi tofu was soft, silky and smooth. Service was timely.
