Comment: This place hit the spot. I highly recommend just sharing skewers and ordering as much a possible. I think the best was between the oyster mushrooms (they taste better than the beef) and enoki wrapped in bacon. Chicken skin was super crispy. Beef tongue was thinly sliced with a lot of flavor. The oden hot pot was also extremely umami heavy with the shrimp stock and different fish cakes. I felt this happy fullness that only comes from clean Japanese cooking.

Comment: This is one of my favorite sushi restaurants in NYC. The food is incredible and it a perfect date restaurant. Theres low lighting paired with a unique interior decor to create a one of a kind dining experience. The service can be a shabby sometimes depending if you are sitting inside or outside but be sure to make a reservation for inside. Overall its a very impressive place.

Comment: Came here for drinks & dinner after work. It felt like waiters were rushing us the whole time, checking in on us every 2 min to ask if we made our food selection (this is at 6:30pm on a Wednesday, no need for the rush). Decor was fine, we were in the back and I wish this place had more of a vibe to go with their theme.Ordered the Ebi Fry and Okomomyaki, it was meh and too salty. Fish flakes were too thick and chewy. Drinks were good.

Comment: I visited on September 19th and Loved everything but really the nigiri over warm rice was the best! My only complaint was the red wine was warm, not room temp but warm. It must have been stored in a warm location or near an oven. I had to let it sit but Ill drink warm red wine for sushi like this any day!! Ill be back tomorrow and the next day!!! RB

Comment: One of my top go-to recommendations for delicious drinks and food in the city! I love their drinks especially their sake selection and cocktails (can’t beat $13 HH cocktails)! My must orders are the tako wasabi, any of their raw sashimi dishes, and the chicken thigh and scallion yakitori. The raw seafood always taste so fresh and their seasoned seafood dish has this subtle citrus flavor that never fails to incite a “yum.” Definitely visit if you’re looking for a place to drink and eat with good vibes and friendly service.

Comment: Can’t believe this place is 4.2! It should be 5++. The best izakaya for everyone who loves skewers must try!! Its so tender and juicy, I tried most of them and all tasted great. And their uni (sea urchin) sooo fresh cant eat anywhere else. Yesterday we tried bunch of different cocktails too but my favorite was the nomads land. If you are fan of the ginger try the nomad highball delicious. All the staffs were so friendly and the lighting is perfectly dimmed so its great for date night too. Well be back definitely!

Comment: My group of 16 visited Izakaya Nomad last Wednesday and had a great experience. I did have to contact them through their website to request the reservation, and they got back to me in around 48 hours. I put down my credit card info and signed an authorization form for a hold of $50.The menu is great for a big group since there arent an overwhelming number of options. Id say the main categories are appetizers, skewers, and sushi. We ordered a couple appetizers and sushi rolls to share, and individually ordered around 3 skewers each. Id say each appetizer could be split comfortably between 4 people, and my side of the table ordered the Chicken Karaage ($15), Mina Roll ($21) and three skewers each. I tried the Thigh w/ Scallion ($5), “Famous” Tsukune - Chicken Meatball ($10), and Pork Belly ($9). The sizing does match the price - the Thigh was one piece, the Chicken Meatball had 3 balls on each skewer and an amazing egg based dipping sauce, and the pork belly skewer has two pieces as well. So I thought the skewers were definitely worth it. The karaage was also amazing and we ordered another. The Mina Roll was tasty but nothing too special for the price. The rest of my table ordered a lot of other mains such as the Okonomiyaki, Hot Pot, and every Roll on the menu. I cant speak for how good they were as I didnt try them but they looked happy. We also had a variety of drinks. They are quite pricey ($17 each) so thats something to look out for. I think thats what made up the majority of the bill, as the food options are actually quite reasonable in price. On average we spent $70 per person including tax and a mandatory 20% tip. We did get a really nice section of the restaurant for ourselves which was worth the higher price. I would definitely recommend this place for a date night or for bigger groups that want to have a more private place to gather.

Comment: One of the better Izakya spots in NYC! Excellent service by a smart and attentive staff, buzzy dim ambiance, awesome Sake list and amazing yakitori (try the chicken meatball with raw egg dipping sauce). The Sashimi was ok but the roll was subpar. I’m not a fan of pressed rice with a wet consistency on rolls, but I never order sushi at an Izakaya so I wasn’t expecting greatness anyway. All in all I highly recommend.

Comment: The service is hard to receive and call for if your table is in the back. Avoid the back tables. The food came out relatively quick or slow at times. The yakitori were a hit and miss, most were dry and almost tasted the same. I highly recommend the calamari as that was the best dish. Their sushi are decent especially for the low prices they charge. The mackerel was nothing special, but the portion size is generous. The ebi mayo wqw simple and tasty. Avoid the drinks, they had a weird taste to it and were mostly ice.

Comment: I would say this place is a hidden gem. Food is generally good and so is the service. Less crowded and a lot quieter than K-town bars. They have a decent selection of sake and yakitori. There’s also a huge, somewhat secluded table right by the entrance, which can probably seat more than 10 people—not something very common in the City.

Comment: Actually a really nice place! My boyfriend and I were trying to go to a different restaurant initially but that didnt work out so we gave Izakaya Nomad a go. Well I guess it was on my boyfriend’s list. Anyways, the food was all good. And the service was good too. Well honestly not much interaction but sometimes you just want to be left alone with your party right? LOL. It got very crowded around 7pm so I would recommend get there early! I would highly recommend the purple sweet potatoes fries and the skewers! I also got teriyaki ika(?) which is like squid dish, which was tasty as well. Comment: I personally really like this place. There’s something about the interior of this place and Osamil that is very attractive- there is a lot of attention to detail, and it feels warm and cozy. I especially enjoy the bar seating. The food is nothing extraordinary but it’s plenty delicious and the portions are better than most similar places. They also have a great happy hour. I think this place is underrated to be honest. It is similar to Nonono which in my opinion has better food, but the atmosphere here is better.

Comment: Awesome place to grab some drinks and Teriyaki Sticks . Various types of small Tapas / Dim Sum style dishes perfect for sharing with a big group, or eating by yourself (I wont judge) . I suggest getting there early or making some reservations (if thats even allowed) this place fills up fast and tables do NOT turn over quickly (likely a result of the $5 happy hour sake 🤯) so you might end up needing to wait ! Trust me it is worth it .DO: drinks with a group, order only appetizer foods, try SakeDONT : Date Night, arrive too late, arrive over-hungry (you might need to wait)

The food is excellent however the service we received by the team at the front did not meet the level of table service. A smile can go a long way. Great price and great food - we will go back.

Comment: Food taste is above average but can’t be considered as Izakaya in my mind, other than serving the yakitori. Most of dishes are quite big so you can’t try many different ones as normally do in Japanese Izakaya. Luckily we have four people can order three dishes for sharing in addition to some yakitori. The food size is more like Korean restaurant (and it’s near Korean way too..)

Comment: NoMad is one of my go-to places when Im looking to have a light, flavorful, and modern twist on Japanese Gastropub food.Ambiance: Semi-dimly Lit with booths, tables, and a private space for larger parties. Does not take reservations for parties of under three people. Call the hostess ahead of time to see what the availability is. On a Friday night, there will usually be a wait until after 9/9:30 PM!Food: My go-tos are the beef tataki, squid, Korean pancake, and sushi. The beef is perfectly cooked and tender with a umami like dressing that brings the salty with a little bit of bitter and sweet for a perfect bite. The squid comes whole and sliced table side o a hot platter- always tender squid. Sushi honestly is pretty good cooked sushi, but sometimes a little loosely rolled (also not served after 10 pm). Also tried the rice balls with spicy salmon- the salmon didnt have as much flavor as I wanted and it fell apart in my hand. Probably wouldnt order in the future.Frequency of visits: about 2x a month!

Comment: Tried izakaya nomad for dinner on a Saturday evening. Plenty of tables at 7pm and we didnt have a wait at all. We ordered a beer and sparkling nigiri. Our choice of food was tuna tartare which came with tomatoes and avocados mixed in. Marinade was good. We also ordered ebi shrimp, chicken meatballs, spicy chicken things, avocado from izakaya menu. Meatballs and chicken thigh were our favorite. The dish that blew our mind was Godzilla roll. One of the best rolls we have tried. Had a good evening.

Comment: Good service, food and price! For service - the hostess automatically moved us to a larger table when she noticed I was carrying a lot of stuff and the waiter gave us a heads up that the portion sizes are big so we should go for variety over quantity. Food wise, we tried the beef tatami and several skewers. All had unique flavors and were good but the beef tatami, short rib and oyster mushroom were my favorites. The bacon covered mochi is fun to try as well.

Comment: Ive been to a few Izakayas in the area including Mew and Sakagura. While each has their own perks, Izakaya NoMad is the whole package. Its casual and fun but has amazing service. The food is very good while not being expensive, and while it is more appealing to a Western palate (textures and flavors) it maintains a strong Japanese origin (Hamachi collar bone!). And the sake list is small enough to not overwhelm but extensive in the flavors and styles it offers. Aside from the Hamachi collar bone you should definitely try the kakuni, the spice onigiri (only get super spicy if you REALLY mean it), and the chicken meatballs with an order of the grilled rice ball.

One stick of beef is $7. It was good but I actually imagined 2 sticks for that price. 3 chicken meatballs on 1 stick again is $6.50. Thought again Id get 2! In addition to the extensive Sake list is a unique selection of beers - on draft and bottled. Im having dinner there tonight and can already taste the clear, crisp beer Ill order. Also looking forward to their grilled edo mame. One small thing - it gets very busy at dinner and the kitchen can be a little crazy. Be prepared to cut the wait staff some slack.
