Comment: Came here on a Friday night and it was very easy to secure a last minute reservation for 3 people. Theres typical seating at the bar but there are also two private tables for 2 and one private table for 4 in the back that can reserved by calling. The service was great and the sushi was all very delicious. We opted for the 18-course meal which runs $118 per person (the 15-course is $98 pp) and had a couple Sapporo beers at $7 each. Overall, I really enjoyed the omakase experience at Kaiyo and would definitely try again.

Comment: Highly recommend!First of all, the fish was absolutely delicious. My partner and I got the 15 course omakase and loved every dish. I loved that for so many of the pieces, the high quality fish was the star of the show. The chef would add a touch of a simple pairing that would perfectly complement the fish. My favorite was yellowtail with shishito pepper— they seemed made for each other! And the sweet shrimp with just a touch of lime was incredible. There were also some complex plates that I thoroughly enjoyed as well. Definitely top-notch omakase!The servers were very attentive, welcoming and accommodating. I love the vibes too, with the brick wall and intimate setting.

Comment: I tried a number of sushi spots in Manhattan and Long Island City and this was definitely one of the best spots for me. No frills, all about the sushi, prepared piece by piece right in front of you when youre sitting at the bar (thats the best way to experience this). As for 4 stars for atmosphere, that is very personal to me but I cant stand cool jazz and it was blaring during the whole evening.

Comment: This is the second time me trying omakase 🍣 I cannot express how amazed I was by the entire experience. From the moment I walked through the door until the final bite, it was an absolute delight 💛 Each dish presented was a work of art. What impressed me even more was the warm and welcoming nature of the staff. They went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was exceptional. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place. Not only is it affordable, but the quality of the food is undeniably five stars. Trust me, you wont be disappointed! 👍🏻🔥

Comment: Went in with no expectations (because, LIC 😆) but was so pleasantly surprised!This place is good, and would definitely revisit.Fresh fish, a lot of care in each dish, flavourful, attentive and very filling. Amazing to have an omakase option in the neighbourhood that’s actually good!- Unlimited sake right now!- Reservations can be made through their Yelp page- Dessert is just mochi ice cream, perhaps this can be something more special and created in house

Comment: Great dinner experience. Overall the fish was fresh and amazing. I had to call to get a reservation because the website was confusing. I would save overall good experience, only thing I can note is due to calling to get a reservation the server was confused on my arrival and then they were a little over attentive when it came to refilling water. It’s a pretty small space so someone popping in every 5 minutes to refill my still mostly full water was a bit distracting to the experience. With that said it was obviously done to ensure great service but was just a little distracting since it’s pretty tight we’re the seats are. Also prices have been slightly increased since soft opening

Comment: Personally I am a huge fan of raw oyster and this decent place provides exactly what I crave for, very fresh, kindly chewy oyster meat. Staffs and the chefs were very friendly and good service is the most important for any Omakase experience! Definitely will come back.

Comment: I came here during Kaiyos soft opening, and was extremely pleasantly surprised. I selected the 18-course, and with each piece practically melting in my mouth, it was clear that every piece was made with only the freshest ingredients. The service was also attentive, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable about each piece that was served. I ended with the special they offer called The Pop Under the Atlantic, and this one was simply a chefs kiss, with both visual and gustatory surprises. Though the exterior may make it easy to miss as you walk by, Im glad I didnt miss out on this spot!

Comment: Great service and amazing food. I had the 18 course option and it was well worth the money. My favorites included the Wagyu + Uni + Ankimo as well as the King Salmon. It was fresh and flavorful. They gave us a brief description of each piece and catered to our food restrictions. It’s a great place to bring a group and have a good time over delicious food.

Comment: So glad to find this incredible gem opened in the neighborhood! It was the best Omakase experience I’ve had in all of NYC. At less than $100, it’s one of the most reasonably priced I know of in the five boroughs, yet the quality of the fishes was amazing. Everything was super fresh, flavorful and wonderfully presented; you can tell that the chefs put in efforts in perfecting each pieces with well-prepared ingredients and the choice of sauces and food building the layers of flavor. Service was fantastic - I’m absolutely in love with the bottomless sake they offer right now! And even the way this space was designed was thoughtful, giving a cozy, relaxing vibe. I will definitely visit again and I highly recommend it for anyone who is a fan of top quality Japanese food without a hefty price tag!

The selections were comprised of the best of the best - seafood and all of the other ingredients. If you’re in the area and like sushi at all, you MUST eat here!
