Comment: Super delicious nabe! Have been here a few times and the quality is always consistent. Between three people we shared a set for two and two extra appetizers. It was a ton of food. The nabe also came with ramen, dumplings and some delicious sauces. The dessert was also super fragrant and tasty. Highly recommend having a reservation as it can get packed! Service was attentive and fast.

Comment: The taste is pretty good, just like an average sukiyaki pot. However, the rule that sukiyaki must be ordered for at least two portions is really unreasonable! And, I fell down at the door. Because the small steps at the door are easily overlooked! ! careful!

Comment: Should everyone feel great because theres a convenient hot spot place on St Marks like Kimura? They should, and they come. Everyone has their own little stove right at their table, enjoying kitchen to table right there.Tip: Its hard to get walk-ins on a snowy date at dinner time. Kimura is hospitable and gives you a cup of hot tea while you are waiting.

Comment: What a cute, quaint little spot. Took weeks to get reservations here, which makes sense given the limited seating, but 100% worth the wait. The food is fantastic, and I especially recommend the Collagen Nabe, Sukiyaki, Beef Tongue, and Kimura Roll. And make sure to ask for the congee kit to have the servers turn your leftover broth into delicious congee!

Comment: First time hitting this and was surprised to see the demand for it and the need for reservations, so plan ahead. Each entree was big enough for two people. This was the most generous sashimi platter I had in a while and the side of rice was not some skimpy little bowl either. The collagen nabe for one could easily be shared with something else small perhaps. What I do want is their curry which is not available during dinner. 2024.01.13

Comment: Be ready to be super stuffed after your meal here!We had the Sukiyaki hot pot and some appetizers, everything was just as I remembered trying it in Tokyo, Japan. Waiters are very friendly and they do a nice little hotpot cooking serving service for you. Only thing I didn’t like was the restroom and overall downstairs area were kind of smelly, and we sat right next to the stairs going downstairs :/

Comment: 5/5.Absolutely no complaints. We were seated outdoors, in a heated hut. We did the “Tasting for 2”, which was amazing for the value based on the dishes provided (Tuna carppacio, crispy pork belly, sushi roll, hot pot of your choice, noodle of your choice, almond&matcha pudding dessert). Our waitstaff were extremely attentive. She informed us that the included sushi roll was unavailable and substituted with one equally as delicious (we got the Kimura roll). She also demonstrated how to serve the hot pot contents, as this was our first Japanese-styled hot pot. Lastly, there was a delay in dessert, and we were given the option to wait or get a minor discount on our meal (we selected the latter). We spent close to 2 hours here. We felt catered to and never rushed. We would absolutely return.

Comment: Everything was quite yummy! Not the best I’ve had but still very, very good. Portions were smaller than I imagined, and appetizers were not the best. Here’s all the food we tried:Agedashi tofu: 7/10The tofu was pretty yummy! I didn’t like the radish as much, but the temperature difference was a nice surprise. It’s meant to be deep fried tofu but the outer layer didn’t taste crunchy, but it’s understandable as it’s soaked in broth. Overall though, wouldn’t order again for the price.Buttered Scallops & Mushrooms: 6/10This was… mediocre; the portions were small for the price. I’m not complaining since we both ended up being full, but I just expected something more I guess. The scallops were really flavorful but the other components were quite bland.Kimura roll: 9/10This was amazinggggg!!! No further commentCollagen Nabe: 9/10This was SO good. I was hesitant at first but this was the only nabe that appealed to us (the ones we wanted to try had minimum of 2 orders which would be too much for us). The broth was so flavorful and nuanced, I can confidently say I’ve never tried anything like it.total: ~$91 incl tax & tipsService was wonderful! I had amazing interactions w/ the staff. If I come back next time, I’ll def try the shabu shabu nabe that one of the staff recommended. The atmosphere was also REALLY nice. Although it was quite hot in there to the point where I felt really warm even with a t-shirt. The hotpot itself definitely contributed to that though, haha. I also think the music is a bit loud, but I liked the songs so I don’t mind. It was a little hard to hear my friend over the music, but not a concern at all. I really enjoyed the vibe :) would go again!

Comment: We come on a Friday evening around 6pm, and the wait time was 45mins to an hour. However we got the message that our table was ready about 30 mins. The restaurant is a bit small for its popularity and the wait time becomes 2 hours by the time we finished.Be prepared to wait If you plan to come. The food is delicious. We ordered the Kuro buta nabe and Kimura roll. The nabe has a lot of veggies in it and the soup tastes great.

Comment: Havent been to St. Marks in a while and wanted to go somewhere for dinner before our comedy show which was on the same block and found Kimura. Its a cozy restaurant but the food is really good. It was raining and perfect weather for some Nabe which we got. Started with some appetizers like Fried Oysters, Agedashi Tofu then Sashimi Deluxe and then the main course Kuro Buta Nabe(pork belly, cabbage, chives, bean sprouts and tofu). It came with sesame oil and garlic and chili sauce for you to put in the Nabe. Didnt have room to try their Matcha Almond Tofu which I hear is great. They have a Kimura Sushi Tasting set which looks really yummy. Maybe will try that next time. The service was on spot. He would check in on us often and clear our tables once we finish our things. They have a wide variety of sake to choose from. Keep up the great food and service. Definitely worth a trip if you are around the area and make reservations.See you next time.

Comment: It had been quite some time since I last savored the delightful flavors of motsu nabe, and let me tell you, this experience did not disappoint! From the very first bite, I was reminded of just how mouthwateringly delicious this dish can be. The rich, savory barrick sauce that simmered in the pot enhanced the overall taste, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the meal. The harmony of tender, succulent meats and an array of fresh vegetables all cooking together in that delightful broth was a feast for the senses. The flavors melded together perfectly, creating a symphony of taste that left my taste buds singing with joy. The textures and aromas added to the dining experience, making every moment at the table truly delightful. If youre a fan of motsu nabe or simply looking to try it for the first time, this place is an absolute must-visit. The skillful preparation and attention to flavors showcased in each bite make it evident that this establishment takes pride in serving up a memorable dining experience. I cant wait to return for another round of this delectable dish!

Comment: I would recommend getting a reservation beforehand as there isnt much seating inside. The service was very good, the servers were friendly and very attention. We ordered a sukiyaki for three (we had four), but the meat for three is so much that, honestly, we could have fed five. The wagyu was of good quality, and they provided us fresh eggs to dip it with, giving the meat an umami richness. The soup was also very rich and savory. We added some additional sides of ramen and udon — you can add on other things to your sukiyaki. The vegetables provided were also very fresh. We had a kimura roll — which was delicious - and a california and tempura roll. The other two rolls were so-so. Id try other things here. We also ordered some skewers: the chicken was very juicy, the chicken skin was very crispy, and the kurobata porkbelly was also fairly crispy.

Comment: Kimura specializes in authentic Japanese motsunabe right here on St Marks in Manhattan. Nicely decorated Japanese lanterns light up the outside as you walk down into this cozy legendary restaurant since 1985. Their tasting menu is generous in portion and best of all, you do not need to decide what to pick from their vast menu. After having a few appetizers, their friendly staffs served us the steaming hot sukiyaki. Dip the fresh meats and veggies cooked in their mouthwatering sukiyaki sauce in the raw egg for a tasty experience accompanied with a bowl of udon noodles and dumplings. Comment: After my vacation in Japan recently I wanted so badly to have authentic Japanese food again. I stumbled across this dainty little place while I was doing a search on authentic Japanese restaurants. I was there early around 12 pm and the place quickly filled up within 30 minutes!!! I ordered the Daikon salad and the grilled while squid as appetizers. As for the entree I had the Kuro Buta Nabe which is essentially a soup base dish with pork strips and vegetables. It is a little spicy but I am used to that. The waiter gave us additional sauces to enhance the dishes. I particularly like the chili oil sesame garlic sauce. Overall the food was really good amd pricing was very affordable. I think the portion for the entree could be bigger but them again I have a big appetite!!! Will definitely go back again.

I absolutely loved everything about it! Such a special and unique place! We eat out a LOT and I was craving something different and Kimura checked all of the boxes. Comment: 🍲👍 First of all, highly recommended to everyone to give their Japanese hotpot a try! 🇯🇵🍲 Its absolutely delicious and worth experiencing. 🌟 This was my second visit to this place, but I must admit, I was a little bit disappointed. 😔 The Japanese karaage we ordered was not cooked well and ended up being raw. 🍗🙅‍♀️ Perhaps the staff was overwhelmed with the busy crowd, as the waiter seemed a bit impolite. However, despite these drawbacks, considering how tasty the food is, I still recommend giving this place a chance. 🍛😋 Sometimes, the flavors can make up for the shortcomings. Give it a try and enjoy the Japanese hotpot experience! 🍲🍽️

Comment: We were 4 people, 2 vegetarian and 2 non vegetarian so we ordered one vegetarian hot pot for 2 and one chicken hot pot for 2. The staff placed two gas stoves with chicken broth on one and tomato broth on the other. There were 10 different vegetables for the vegetarian option and a variety of chicken for the other one with some vegetables to add as per our choice. The staff helped us cook and serve the food in our bowls and brought some soya sauce and hot chilli oil as flavouring to be used as per our taste. We also ordered a bowl of boiled noodles to add some weight to the food. We found the vegetarian broth was much better than the chicken broth. All in all a nice experience. My daughter in law and son love the place although I am not very sure my wife would like to dine here again given the wide variety of food choices available in New York and the limited time we spend here.

Comment: 📍Kimura @New York, NY🖤好食 (quality):😋😋😋😋😋🤍環境 (environment): ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🤎服務 (service): 💗💗💗💗💗Calling for all the sukiyaki fans out there! I got a hidden gem here located in NYC! Kimura is a Japanese resto specializing in motsunabe! ✨You can also enjoy some sushi, Shabu Shabu and many other authentic Japanese food here too! For both of their Mizutaki Nabe and Sukiyaki pot, they require a minimum of 2 and maximum of 3 orders per table! If you want to come here just for sukiyaki pot (trust me, it’s amazing), grab your time and check them out! 😤This time, I got their…🥘Sukiyaki Pot with U.S Wagyu Beef 🥘($32/person)Oh my, I was in love with the soup base, it was just right, the sweetness and savouriness were just balanced! 😚There were also a lot of veggies included in the pot like Chinese cabbage, mushrooms, carrots, shirataki tofu and scallion! 🫣The meat were perfect when it was dipped in the egg sauce that they provide, making the meat so silky! It was definitely a unforgettable taste for moi! 😤It was such a fulfilling meal for us as there were 3 of us and 3 servings of U.S Wagyu Beef hehe 🤪Their service were also great! They helped us with putting meat into the pot and served us for the first round of meat! 🤓I also really admire their energy to serve and run us through the proper way to eat the Wagyu (e.g. introducing us the egg sauce)! It was a great experience for me! 😚Thank you for the awesome hospitality and yummy food! 🤍🫣

Comment: This is one of the only Japanese hot pot places in New York and they’re so good! They’re known for their collagen hotpot but also have less intimidating options like pork belly or just simple sukiyaki. Good drink and appetizer options as well.Prices have increased a few times over the past 1-2 years but I would say it’s still reasonable for NYC and worth the quality of food you get. Still a very popular and busy place so definitely try to make a reservation.

Comment: Two people ate about $60/person. Tried the sukiyaki. I recommend the chicken and scallion skewer. Others like beef tongue slices, okra, and beef skewer is just so so. I don’t think this restaurant is anything special that can attract me go a second time.

Comment: I had a fantastic experience here yesterday, i ate alone but still spoke with a neighboring table. I ate sushi and a chicken skewer. Both items had great flavor and tasted very fresh. The staff were experienced and treated customers well from what i saw. I would go back and I recommend bringing some company to share hotpot as well. Portions are healthy in my experience.

Comment: Such a comforting, homey meal that’s perfect for dinner with close friends:) They specialize in motsunabes (traditional Japanese hotpot), so definitely order a nabe here!I ordered: Collagen Nabe in Classic Chicken and Pork Broth ($27)The broth was incredibly flavorful and savory yet light with the softest pork belly and collagen added in. The gelatinous collagen just slid off the bone and melted in my mouth. The cabbage-to-meat ratio was balanced as well. Loved how the broth was not overly rich with fat either. I asked for extra spicy and surely they did that😋Definitely make a reservation online a few days in advance!

Comment: Please make a reservation before coming! There are always a lot of people here plus the space of the restaurant itself is not big . The hot pot is so nice. The broth is different from other places, but it tastes good. The server will cook the hot pot for you the first time, so remember not to do it by yourself.

Comment: Note: Late review from January 2022~Very enjoyable atmosphere and food. The 3-person taster was filling for all three of us and good value for the quality you receive. For the nabe itself, the sauces seemed unnecessary since the broth was so flavorful, with the exception of the spice oil which had a unique tingly spiciness. The pacing/expected etiquette were hard to grasp from the get-go, especially if you are used actively cooking and serving yourself, e.g. homemade nabe. We slowly figured out the system was to wait for them to do everything for you until they give you the green light that the nabe is ready. It didnt diminish the experience much, just a bit confusing.Other menu recommendations:5⭐- Yuzu honey sour, not too sour or sweet - very refreshing.- Hijiki was also perfect, fresh and crisp, lovely seasoning. - Agedashi was piping hot, crisp, just what you want!4⭐- Karaage was juice and well-fried, but a little under-seasoned, though the sauce was interesting and tasty.- Ika was too sweet for me, but texture and squid itself were good.- Tongue was so soft and delicious but unexpectedly cold! I would have preferred grilled with just salt and pepper because it was a bit too sweet but the texture was amazing

Comment: Kimura specializes in shabu shabu, sukiyaki, and mitzutaki nabe, along with a wide selection of appetizers, sushi, and skewers. The cozy atmosphere of the restaurant reminded me of an old-school Japanese establishment, where people gather for good food and drinks after work. Our meal began with an array of delectable dishes, including grilled beef tongue slices, ankimo ponzu (steamed monkfish liver), negi-miso pork toro, and various skewers. While everything was delicious, the standout dish for me was undoubtedly the steamed monkfish liver. The chicken skin skewers were also a personal favorite of mine, with their satisfying chewiness and crispy texture.Upon the servers recommendation, we decided to share the kurobuta nabe, a Japanese hot pot featuring Japanese kurobuta pork belly and vegetables. The hot pot was the perfect comfort food for the chilly evening, and the garlic dipping sauce served as a lovely complement to the dish. The broth was light yet savory, leaving us thoroughly satisfied with our meal.As we indulged in some beers and cocktails, we savored the lively atmosphere of the restaurant and enjoyed each others company. All in all, it was a fantastic dining experience at Kimura in the heart of NYCs East Village.

Comment: It’s a very popular place. There was some waiting time. We are placed outdoor seating. There are hot fans nearby. Service is great, food is good, $27 per pot proteins a bit little to me. We added extra congee and noodle to it. The congee was impressive. The outdoor seating has 3 tables. The next door kept open after the table got empty. It’s cold… waitress were with busy hands and cannot close door. So we were all sneezing.

Comment: One of my favorite Japanese hotpot restaurant. I recommend the beef intestines hot pot (hakata motsu babe), the soup favor is my love. They usually serve with a hot sauce, Which you would use to dip the beef intestines into. They added sesame in the hot sauce, making it smells much better. The sushi (nigiri deluxe) is also very good.

Comment: Kimura is a cozy hole in the wall place for Japanese Motsu Nabe (Japanese hotpot) and other izakaya dishes. We got the Sake Tasting, Skewer Combo, and Pork Belly Nabe (add on beef intestines - a MUST). I will just skip the appetizers and get right to the main character. The highlight is definitely the Pork Belly Nabe. The portion is huge (we got a 3-portion pot for 4 people), the broth is so flavorful and rich, and every ingredient is fresh. The service is great as well - they made the nabe tableside to ensure everything is cooked to perfection.Definitely a great spot if you’re craving a soul-warming hotpot in this chilly weatherWhat we got:Pork Belly Nabe with add-on of beef intestines - Highly recommendSake TestingSkewers Combo

Comment: Let me start off by saying thank you to our server, Soma, who was incredibly honest about us ordering too much food and for the impeccable service in ensuring our sukiyaki and scallops were cooked perfectly! Service by itself is 5 stars. Please know that you can only make reservations online (the welcome staff initially told me they dont take reservations, but when I heard someone mention they had reservations and were seated, she told me they only take reservations online - so make your reservation online if you have time). Below is our analysis of tonights dinner:Appetizer -Yuzu Salmon Roll - basically tasted like a regular salmon avocado roll, which was delicious but nothing special. The yuzu was too mild and most bites didnt taste like any yuzu at all. Delicious nonetheless but can do without!Pork-toro - very delicious in a sweet and salty sauce that reminds me of Korean pepper paste! It also came with a bit of wasabi which paired perfectly with the pork cheeks, since its pretty fatty! Pairs perfectly with beer for you beer drinkers!Grilled mackerel - meaty and perfectly cooked with barely any bone! Not too expensive and grilled to perfection without it being too charred!Buttered scallop and mushroom - incredibly buttery and a bit heavy on the black pepper (the girls didnt taste the black pepper but I did for some reason). Nothing too special about this and I wouldnt order it again. Nonetheless, its a new experience.Entree, the main star -Sukiyaki - so incredibly delicious! Every aspect of this was perfect and the sukiyaki sauce infused the veggies, meat, and noodles just right! Dipping the US wagyu into the egg adds a rich silkiness to the meat and it was delicious! Soma was also kind and honest in informing us that sukiyaki for 3 was too much in addition to all our appetizers, which was a lifesaver because we barely finished the sukiyaki for two. This was incredibly refreshing and helped save us 30 bucks! (Sukiyaki is 30 per person now). Definitely get this and I guarantee you wont regret it!Overall our experience was perfect thanks to Soma and his amazing service. We will definitely be back to try their many other Japanese selections!Thank you for reading and good luck! (:

Comment: Loved the place! Very authentic, both in food, decoration and the service provided. We got some of the best gyoza weve tried in America and 2 individual pots: Hakata motsu nabe, and kuro buta nabe.🥟🥟🥟 Gyoza are Hakata style. Not sure if thats why they are open (unlike most dumplings that are fully wrapped), but we found that very interesting. They were very tasty, very crunchy, and the sauce was great as well. They took a while to come out, and they come on a pan, really hot and perfectly cooked. $9 for 5 (big) teppan Gyoza.🍲🍲🍲 The individual pots are huge in size, not sure about the comments that mention the portions are small, but to us, they were very very big. One thing to point out is that the quantity of meat proportionate to the whole is small for an American. But check the photos and judge for yourself, I actually appreciated the big amount of vegetables in my pot, made me feel healthier without sacrificing on the taste. Individual pots are around $25.🍹🍹🍹 They also offer a wide variety of drinks, both alcoholic and virgin. We tried a lychee cocktail that was very delicious, as well as a yuzu honey sour. Most cocktails were $10.🤵🤵🤵 Our server was great! They help you cook your pot and take time to answer your questions. A lot of them were Japanese, which kind of adds to the authenticity.🍽️🥢🥤 The restaurant ambience is nice. They have indoor seating as well as 2 outdoor areas. One of them is at the end of the restaurant and looks like a traditional Japanese patio.

Comment: Wait time for a table was maybe 5-10 minutes. We opted for an outside table since indoors was a little busy. Outdoors, there are three separated small rooms with air conditioning and their own sliding doors, so it felt more private. Service was fast and courteous. The food was absolutely delicious and so were the drinks. We ordered sushi, the yaki ramen, beef tongue, and gyoza. The gyoza were a highlight as they were on the large side and packed with filling. The price is also insanely competitive given the amount of food we received and the quality. Definitely recommend.

Comment: Kimura is a Japanese restaurant specializing in a traditional japanese hotpot with a rich broth made of beef or pork intestines. Located in the heart of St Marks at east village, 31 St Marks Pl, New York, NY 10003. Kimura also offers sushi, lunch 9-column box, wide selected Japanese beer and sake and traditional Japanese snacks. My friend and i decided to go there at a Wednesday night closer to 11pm, they were actually still packed. However The manager was very nice to find us a sushi bar seats for two. Great service on every staff there. We start out with their famous grill beef tongue slice as appetizer, with my favorite Sapporo beer. But Of course we go to Kimura for their wagyu beef Sukiyaki (Japanese hot pot ) that has wagyu beef for two, Chinese cabbage, shiitake mushroom, shorataki, tofu and other veggies. The soup is delicious, they use a special raw Japanese egg as dipping sauce. They are truly authentic Japanese food in Manhattan NYC. Great atmosphere with tasty food. Tip: make reservation before you go there, they are a very popular spot.

The time for me is enough and I got my dishes fast. The overall service is definitely wonderful. The chicken skin and beaf tongues are both tasty. I love the Hakata Motsu Nabe, it is $25/person and the soup is sooo yummy!

Comment: The food here is delicious! Complex and subtle flavors. Service is kind. Cozy seating and large tables for enough space to share lots of dishes! We got:Butter scallops and mushrooms - came out in a little pot with fire underneath and took a little tableside cooking. Fat scallops and juicy mushrooms. Black peppery, savory, buttery, and a little sweetYuzu salmon roll - Nothing surprising here. Was hoping for more of a yuzu flavor, but overall a good salmon rollKimura beef intestines pot - loved this. I’m a big fan of intestines and this was well cleaned, fatty, and chewy 🤤 leeks and cabbage were yummy and provided textural contrast. Towards the middle of our meal, we asked for ramen noodles to cook into the broth. We also ordered cocktails and they were fruity and sweet and have low alcohol options.

Comment: Overall it was good, but a little bit pricy in general and not that impressive. The portion was not that big except the hot pot.The pork feet hot pot was good, the flavor was light and I’ll recommend to people who like healthy food.👅 My favorite dish goes to beef tongue. It was soft but chewy with great flavor.Fried ramen and fried chicken were classic.🍵Matcha tofu was definitely a must as the dessert.

Comment: Sukiyaki here is the best, and great value! We (2) got the 2-person tasting menu and it was a ton of food, including some appetizers, the whole hotpot experience, as well as a dessert for each (matcha tofu, delicious). The server doted on us constantly and placed the hotpot ingredients for us (even offered to serve us when it was done). Definitely coming here again!

Comment: What an incredible dinner we had! You will love the variety of sakes, hotpots and sushi. Our table had vegetarians, vegans and meat eaters and we all found something that was truly amazing. The homemade tofu, both fried and not fried versions were fantastic. I loved the Kimura roll, and the hot pots were great. If you like super spicy, you can ask for a small dish of their very spicy sauce on the side. Overall, just great!

Comment: BEST Japanese hotpot place! Everything was very good and reasonably priced. The hotpot had a lot of ingredients under the meat and everything was so FRESH! The seafood set was very delicious and a super good deal! The place was clean and servers were super friendly. They make me feel so comfortable and safe eating indoors during these challenging times.

Comment: Wonderful authentic place for Japanese hotpot. For vegetarians they have a 10 vegetable hot pot that I highly recommend. The pork belly nabe is also very yummy. I recommend getting a reservation because they can get very busy in the evenings and during lunch. However, if you come right at noon when they open you can still snag a table.

Comment: Without a doubt one of my favourite restaurants in the city! The atmosphere is very traditional Japanese and comfortable, the ingredients in the hotpot are deliciously prepared, and the service is great. I have absolutely nothing I would change about my experience, and the price is also very reasonable. I will undoubtedly continue to return in the future.

Comment: Hot pot is always the best choice for winter time! Kimura nabe is definitely one of the most popular hot pot place in nyc.A party of three ordered one Kurobuta Pork Belly Nabe with miso soup base, two-person original Collagen Nabe, and Teppan Gyoza (pan fried dumplings). The amount of food was really fulfilling. The soup of the Collagen Nabe tasted rich yet not greasy as there are so many spices added such as leek, chili, goji berries, garlic, burdock, etc. I’d call it quite “Asian fusion” soup! The service was good. This restaurant is usually busy, so it’s better to make a reservation in advance. Would love to revisit this place!

Comment: A recommendation from our friend and what an amazing meal. Everything we ordered was so tasty and full of flavour. We got one hakata matsu nabe and one kurobuta pork belly nabe along with a few appetisers. The nabe was so flavourful and we finished off by adding some ramen noddles to the broth. Service was attentive and informative. Really can’t wait to try their other food options in future.

Comment: Had lunch and dinner here several times and food was fresh, consistent and well presented each time. Service was above and beyond each time. Weve had the nabe and various sushi and appetizers. Motsunabe is great here as is the collagen nabe. Not many places do it in NYC but this place does and its good! Portions are decent and the soup broth is good. One of my favorite things there is the chicken cartilage. They do it well here! Theres a bit of meat with the cartilage and its flavored so well. The sushi has been super fresh as well. Weve had many different pieces of sushi. Rice is good as is the fresh fish.Desserts are pretty authentic and I always try to save room for that.So happy that they opened. The first time we came, it was spring and we sat outdoors but they have a pretty good outdoor dining which is relatively private. Also if you eat dinner, oftentimes the street (St Marks) is closed off so that no cars come which makes for a more comfortable outdoor dining experience.Ressies are a must as without one they are usually fully booked.

Comment: Havent had a chance to dine in at Kimura but ordered takeouts for a few times.Overall, the food was incredibly delicious and very well-packed. However, I have the biggest issue with its rice. For both times I ordered chirashi bowl, the rice was super soggy and it just completely ruins the dining experience. However, the fish was super fresh! I also loved the grilled squid along with takoyaki (very generous size!)

Comment: We made a reservation for a table of 6 on a weekday evening. Definitely need to do that if you want to get in.The crispy fried chicken skin and beef tongue small plates/apps are delicious and I highly recommend. The sukiyaki hot pot for 2 has so much flavor in the broth and the wagyu is so fatty and tender. The kurobato (pork belly?) hot pot is also delicious and the broth is kind of spicy. The waiter will mix your hotpot for you, but it can get a bit awkward if you have a larger group and then it takes a long time and some people end up waiting a long time (this happened to us).All in all, this hot pot was delicious and I would def be down to come back!

Comment: Kimura31 St Marks Pl, New York, NY 10003Wow they really changed this places up. Old memories of Zen sushi and then the other places that filled this spot, but when we walked in I could remember all the wacky stair case and bathroom situation this location had. Kimura was able the dress up this place well. From outside the front to even the backyard. Great decor and well themed. My friends and I had a large party of 8. So we got some outdoor seating in the back. You can see the pictures it was very coozy. Has some heat lamps, but the nice fresh air and some japanese lanterns really warmed this spot up.Now for the food we got 3 sets of hotpot or shabu.Collagen Nabe and 2 orders of Hakata Motsu Nabe.I have to say the broth for these were a delight. The sides / meat and veggies would all come in the pot and slowly cook. We had a bunch of sides while our main pots would cook.Service was wonderful and friendly, we will have to come back to try some more items on the menu but everyone in the party that night enjoyed it !IG JliueatsYelp LcrazyaznL

Comment: We came here for an early afternoon Valentines lunch. We didnt have a reservation, but they had room for us in their backyard area which was set up really nicely with separated tables and heat lamps. The meal was fantastic! We started out with a 3 roll sushi as well as Sashimi Teishoku. They gave us a ginger salad and miso soup to go with them. Afterwards, I had an Unagi Don that was generously portioned and very tasty, and my wife got a Motsu Nabe Japanese Hot Pot. I had a nice hot sake on the side as it was the perfect cold weather for one. To top off the meal, we each went with dessert. My wife really enjoyed her Homemade Matcha Almond Tofu, and I really loved my Black Sesami Mont Blanc.I highly recommend coming here for a meal! It was very leisurely, and not rushed at all. Staff was super friendly, and the bathrooms are single room and kept very clean. There was a note that says they disinfect every 30 minutes! My wife also mentioned that the seats are heated, which was also a plus! I didnt notice any changing tables if you have kids.

I usually get 博多もつ鍋(Hakata motsu nabe) but bento is magnificent as well. It is a small restaurant however even when it is been completely full I have never felt crowded. The service is great and friendly. I love this place so much and it reminds me the moment when I was in Japan Fukuoka, I will definitely come again and again.

Comment: We found this place by accident. Walking down from Spot desert bar and thank god we stepped in.The place is amazing, we had ordered the chicken hot pot, chicken on skewer and the grilled squid.Everything was delicious. The squid was so delicate and fresh, dis not have the sea smell at all. Beautiful flavor yet not overpowering. Coming to the hotpot, the broth was so delicious and so clean, so additional ingredients. They served it along with vegetables and chicken meats( breast, thigh, intestines and meatballs). It was a great experience. The place itself is quite clean and the hosts were extremely attentive and took great care of the guests. The place was very clean and followed all health protocols. Will definitely go again. Will recommend.Hotopot-5/5Squid-4/5Chicken skewer-3.5/5Overall a great evening, a great experience.
