Comment: I rarely ever edit my reviews but Maki Maki deserves the 5 stars. They have the best salmon avocado roll, we keep going back and the avocado and salmon are so fresh they melt in your mouth. We think it’s even better than Nobu’s salmon avocado roll.We have tried everything on the menu by now. The cutup rolls are all good, but the salmon avocado is always the best.We also tried the temaki hand rolls. They were good but not much fish after the first bite. The ingredients are super fresh and high quality, service is fast and friendly. Good to get a sushi and eat it at central park.They have a few tables for dine-in.

Comment: This is my 3rd time getting sushi from Maki Maki. We went in the evening and despite the store was almost closed, sushi was very fresh. I really loved all the people working there, especially Tsering and manager Yuri treated us with warm and high quality service. 5/5 recommended!!! Loved shrimp tempura and grilled salmon hand roll 😋

Comment: I’ve been eyeing this place for while now, looking for the right place to try my first ever hand roll. And honestly it did not disappoint. I LOVE sushi and it’s long overdue to not have a hand roll. I went on a rainy day hoping it would be all worth it and it was! I ordered a California Handroll and a Spicy Salmon Handroll with Avocado (🥑 extra$). It was all perfectly proportioned. It did get a little messy with the spicy mayo and soy sauce but definitely delicious. I’m already obsessed!!!!Will be back and definitely recommend going.

Comment: Solid sushi spot for a quick lunch that won’t break the bank yet deliver 100% fresh, too quality hand rolls, cut ups and sashimi. The staff is super friendly, service and presentation is superb and the place is immaculate, including outdoor seating and they even have assorted Japanese beverages! Check out the daily specials including my go to which is the salmon bowl (rice covered with a sheet of nori, two salmon fillets avocado slices and eel sauce). It is not on the posted menu so you have to ask for it but I assure you, you will NOT be disappointed. OH! And don’t forget to ask for some mochi ice cream. It is to die for!

Occasionally the MealPal meals will miss a side item like wasabi or ginger.They have recently cut out the ginger in MealPal orders. Comment: MakiMaki is a hop skip and jump from my office. When it first opened, I wasnt particularly interested as it looked like it may be a gimmicky American sushi place. My boyfriend pushed me to try it with him for lunch one day, and ever since I have been hooked. I got my entire office (all of whom are Japanese) hooked as well. As it turns out, I believe MakiMaki is owned by a father and son (?) who are Japanese. The fish is fresh and everything just generally delicious.ONE THING that breaks my heart is they have one of the best matcha lattes in the city WHEN made correctly. When they first opened, the employee that made it for me (and I went often) made it perfectly - not too sweet, strong but not overwhelming matcha flavor. You can tell that a Japanese person made the base that they are using to make it. Lately, though, every time I order it Im nervous because it has become a depends on the person making it kind of thing. Given how much I can tell the owners care about quality and service, Im hoping they may take the time to retrain the staff to make sure the lattes are what they used to be. Since the quality has become inconsistent my office-mates and I are left pondering alternatives for our lattes, which we dont want to do :(

Comment: SUCH A DELICIOUS PLACE! Spicy tuna is never my favorite roll, but it was more satisfying than any sushi roll I’ve ever had before!! The Takimaki, or hand roll, was so much fun and so ingenuous! It’s a proprietary Japanese technology, and this is the only place it’s available in America. The matcha latte was also out of this world. Perfectly delicious with almond milk and sweetened. It rounded out the savory, spicy flavors of the sushi. I also recommend the grilled salmon toro with the special Japanese mayo on it so much. All in all, this place takes the cake.

Comment: Tried maki maki today. Modern decor and decent selection. Ordered spicy salmon and spicy crab along with shrimp tempura hand roll. The first thing I tried was the hand roll and was very disappointed to find out the fried shrimp was cold. With over 5 dollars for a hand roll at a premium location I expect my food to be at least up to the mark. Salmon/Crab Sushi rolls were delicious and fresh. Paid almost 24 bucks for this and this definitely does not beat places like Sushi Yasaka in Manhattan. Tempura rolls there are fresh and warm.

Comment: Small place with just a few seats. Nice ambience. Rolls are delicious. Although I wish there would be more fish in them, rice was very tasty too (few places have such a good rice). You need 3 hand rolls for a regular size meal, so a little expensive for lunch.

What an amazing sushi experience.Walked by and was challenged by the best hand roll in town claim.They were dead dead on!Will be new go to spot in nyc 100%!!!Husband and wife owners made us feel so welcomed and the process they seemed to have created (special film around the seaweed paper ((nori)) ) to keep it crispy was so cool.The rolls were fresh and presented so nice. Comment: Walked by this new fast casual maki and temaki place. Really liked their concept, takeaway sushi rolls where the nori stay crispy. The ingredients were fresh and of good quality. Comment: Impeccable freshness and quality of ingredients! Perfect crispy nori on the Temakis. Ikura Temaki and Negi Toro are very tasty. High quality of the fish. The matcha cerimonial shot are a perfect combo with the hand rolls. This place is a true gem! Theres no other good Japanese restaurant in the area, and they are the BEST for hand rolls. No other place in Manhattan has that crispy nori like they do.
