Comment: Walked in on a weekday for a post work dinner. I ordered the chirashi bowl and was pleasantly surprised with how much fit into this little bowl. The prices are about average for NYC, but the food is made well. The outside area is pretty cute too, but service was a bit limited out there.

I can’t find it right now to see how great it is but I enjoyed myself every time I’m there. It tasted more like a thick cut bacon, a little on the chewy side, unless the other pork belly Ive tasted in Japanese cuisine. We also ordered the spicy sashimi salad...yum. Lastly, we ordered the sushi and sashimi for 2. It came with an assortment of sashimi and sushi rolls. Everything was very fresh. I was totally stuffed at the end of the meal and couldnt even finish my portion. I liked the food and will return sometime to try other items on the menu.

There is a small outdoor, or rather skylight area in the back of the restaurant, if you are lucky find a spot and dine in sunshine. Comment: Food quality is average, but for the price in this area, Marumi is a steal. Sushi is standard. Classic Japanese comfort food options in the udon and grilled meat and fish options. I love love love nabeyaki udon and this is one of the few places Ive found it on the menu. Thats how you know its authentic. Reminds me of Little Tokyo back in LA.

Comment: Excellent sushi for a reasonable price! Have been to Marumi many times over the past ~7 years since moving to the area. Always highest quality fish and truly amazing sushi/sashimi! Could compare to Blue Ribbon quality-wise, however, the price is much more reasonable. Highly recommend!

Comment: Quality sashimi. Nice, large chunks of yellowtail with thinly sliced, buttery salmon that just melts in your mouth. But here, the tuna is incredible, doesnt even need to be chewed, so fresh it just falls apart in your mouth. Came with a miso soup and a side bowl of rice that was actually better than the rice at most sushi places, especially with a bit of their house-made soy sauce poured over it. Also, a few types of seaweed were on the plate and made for a beautiful presentation.

Comment: Very decent place, good food, perfect option for Japanese food in the area. I liked the Chicken Katsu, but I was a bit disappointed at them not having any chicken Katsudon. I havent tried their sushi yet.
