She offered recommendations and kept checking in but not to a point where it was annoying. The food was delicious. Got a bunch of appetizers and sushi rolls and they were delicious and presentation was so beautiful. She asked our feedback and genuinely listened to our comments bc apparently we had ordered a new item on the menu. Overall I loved the ambience and the ppl there. Will definitely go back

Comment: This, in my opinion, is the best sushi restaurant in the area. It is a combination of Japanese and Thai cuisine, so there are vegetarian alternatives and something for everyone. The meal is reasonably priced, and the service is cordial and courteous. Both the ambiance and the music choices were excellent. To celebrate my daughters birthday, we went there for dinner and had sizzling fish, dynasty dumplings, California rolls, Philly rolls, vegetarian oshinko rolls, and Thai basil fried rice. We enjoyed the chocolate lava cake and green tea ice cream as our meals finale. Everything was tasty and generously sized. We had a great evening and would definitely eat there again!

I did really like the cha-su pork - it was tender and seasoned well.The green tea fried ice cream is fantastic.Crab Rangoon was decent. A nice, crispy bite with good filling. I think those were a little overpriced for the amount we were served.Overall, a pretty good spot! Will definitely return to try more of their menu items.

They offer a vast menu of food and even offer poke bowls now. They offer great dine in services and the ambience is so cozy. I normally call to take out and the servers are always so friendly and helpful. Their lunch specials come at a very reasonable price and overall the prices are also fine. From noodles to sushi to poke bowls, everything’s scrumptious and the portions are huge. I would highly recommend everyone out there to definitely give this place a shot, you won’t be disappointed.

Comment: Originally I was apprehensive about going to this place. I didnt think any restaurant on that part of Union Turnpike could command such high prices. But after today, all my misgivings changed.The restaurant has a cozy interior with tables for 2 to 6 people. There is also a private room where parties can be held. The food is very tasty. The service is really good too. There is no shortage of wait staff to tend to your needs. They are attentive and check on you at the appropriate times. I had the honey glazed roast duck. I requested it cooled well done, and it was done to perfection for me. Not too salty, not greasy at all, yet still moist for my palate. Even the bones were edible!This place is certainly worth the nearly 96 miles round-trip (from eastern Long Island). And Im certainly looking forward to eating here again.

Comment: After a long morning spent at Fort Totten in Bayside, Queens I was very happy to have lunch at Mira Sushi. I have been here several times before when they were called Kyoto. The food is good and the staff very pleasant. I ordered the pan seared dumplings and the chicken tempura with white rice. This entree comes with mixed vegetables, you get sweet potato and broccoli. The chicken negemaki is also a delight. I look forward to going back for lunch or dinner!

Comment: The food is amazing and the service is too. We ordered the spicy Dragon sushi roll..wow! Fresh and crunchy it has tempura shrimp inside. The next dish was a fish fried and filet, I cant remember the name but it was delicious. It had a sauce with pineapple and what I think was lemongrass on a bed of baby bok choy. We ate the fish with a side order of shrimp pineapple rice....it is served inside a pineapple. This is my second time coming to this place and I will be returning again.

We sat in one of the tatami tables where the floor is sunken and you take your shoes off before getting inside the small room. It was quite nice and semi private. The wait staff is so friendly and the food is pretty good. They have alot of options in lunch specials. And the menu in general is large. Comment: The restaurant has a nice atmosphere--low lights, not too quiet or too loud on the Friday evening I visited. The wait staff and sushi chefs are quite friendly. I felt comfortable. The restaurant accommodates children and has special booths for larger parties of people. The menu is very diverse--Japanese and Thai food with lots of options including dessert. Alcoholic beverages are available. Enjoyed my dish which was Roast Duck Pad Thai. I recceived a good portion and could not finish my food so, I took the rest home. I will visit this restaurant again and definitely recommend others to try it.

Comment: Their sushi is very good, very fresh, and well portioned. Their other dishes are delicious as well. We have been going to this place since it was Kyoto, and the change to Mira Sushi brought some higher prices and menu changes. However the quality is still high.If youre ordering out, I recommend picking up. We live three blocks away, and deliveries take an hour, literally. Picking up, the food is ready in fifteen. So its up to you to decide what happens in those other 45 minutes, but I doubt its the food getting fresher.

Comment: I never ever write reviews but I just left this place and felt that I should. The food is great. We order the bonsai tree as an appetizer and we were beyond impressed. Soooo tasty! We wanted to order like 5 orders instead of ordering our main courses. I ordered a lychee berry punch (?) cocktail which was delicious as well. What we really appreciated was the service. Amazing teamwork. This wasnt one of those places where one waiter was assigned to you and everyone else ignored you because you werent their table. They worked as a team to get you what you needed as fast as possible, all with friendly smiles and gestures. Will definitely come back soon!

Comment: This decor of this place was not jarring and of a typical sushi restaurant. While we (family of four) sat at a regular table, I noticed they had private booths with seating pits. It wasnt busy and the restaurant was relatively empty so the regular seating was just fine. I ordered a yellowtail roll and Yellow Ninja (I think), found the quality to be okay. Fish didnt seem that fresh but was still edible. Hubby ordered the special lobster roll (dont know the name of it) and a house special salad. Both looked impressive and gigantic. The salad had sections of seaweed, spicy tuna, kani and mixed greens. The lobster roll was enormous so I had to help out with a few pieces and I enjoyed that much more than my own rolls. The pineapple fried rice was yummy and the homemade Shumai was okay. Yelp offers a free scoop of green tea ice cream with check in so the little one was happy and so were we.

The main area has tables close together, although there are tables off to the side that have a more private feel.Mira is a good spot to go if youre debating between Thai food or Japanese. I had Thai, although the person I was with enjoyed the sashmi they had. The food was good and worth a visit. The flavors were not overpowering but it was far from bland. Its a good middle ground when youre working with a large group of diverse people or someone you havent had many meals with.

Comment: The fusion of Japanese & Thai is not an unfamiliar theme in NY, but Kyoto does it well. Reasonably priced, generously portioned, and well flavored. My only complaint was the amount of sauce used for the mango shrimp dish I chose. If I were to get it again I would ask for less sauce. The Lychee Mojito is delightful, and the Spicy Salmon Pizza is a must try if youre tired of the usual appetizers at other restaurants. I didnt get our waitresss name but she is a sweetheart; who made honest suggestions about the dishes & actually came out of the restaurant to find us when I conveniently forgot my wallet. Guess the Lychee Mojito was better than I thought. Come here with friends or with your SO, you wont be disappointed.

Comment: Very well pleased with this location. The sushi is great, the decor is very nice, and the plates are decorated well with the food. Any sushi fanatic will really enjoy this place. The only downside is that the servers are a bit too oriental for what I like. It is classic Asian style service, but they are very stand-off-ish and make me feel slightly awkward when they look at my table, offer to do things, but dont say much the whole night. Its a thing I have to deal with, I doubt many of the users on here will care about this.

I would highly recommend their california roll, shrimp tempura, pacific dream roll, and spicy tuna. I have also tried their pineapple fried rice, which comes in an actual pineapple! I have had that with chicken and seafood (two different times). As for drinks their lychee martini is delicious! Staff is very friendly and attentive to your requests!

Comment: When I went to Kyoto for the first time, i wasnt disappointed. At the time, the area was so beautiful and the staff were very welcoming. Be warned that the tofu Pieces are small, but they are pretty good. The Miso Soup was flavorful, like the brilliance of Japan itself. I ordered the Angry Lobster Roll, and it tasted so good, its hard to describe in words. I also tried the Napoleon Roll and the Rainbow Roll, both of which was good too. If you dont like sushi that much, dont worry, there are lots of non-sushi dishes in Kyoto. Also, the dish presentation is a work of art itself. They also gave Low Sodium Kikkoman soy sauce, although the food was so good, you barely need it. If youre not a fan of raw sushi, they also have some cooked sushi. They also had Appetizers, but i didnt order any. Dessert was an extreme surprise. There was a peculiar dish called Fried Icecream which puzzled me for a while, and at the time, it came in 2 flavors: Green Tea and Red Bean. The Dish IS ice-cream, but it is covered by breading which had the perfect combination to the ice-cream. Not to mention that there is a huge mountain of whipped cream, which tasted sooooooo good! If there was anything bad about Kyoto Sushi, it would be the prices, as they are really expensive, although it was quite worth it.

Comment: We always look for sushi places anytime we travel or near home. Most folks who experience sushi are not aware of the fine details that make the difference between good and great sushi. Everything from temperature of the separate components in each style of sushi to the quality and one of the least noticed (presentation ) makes the experience either good, bad, or a great one. Kyoto is definitely on our short list of places to enjoy great sushi.
