Comment: Miyako has been my go-to sushi place for at least a decade, probably longer. Yes, there are better sushi places on the Upper West Side, but they are all much more expensive than Miyako. There are also places with lower prices than Miyako, but their sushi is nowhere near as good. Miyako is the best of both worlds: its not the #1 best sushi Ive ever had in my life, but its still excellent, and at reasonable prices. If I was going all-out for a super-luxe sushi dinner with friends, Id pick another spot, but if I just want to get myself some sushi for lunch/dinner, this is my spot.The lunch/dinner roll specials are an especially good deal. And some of the appetizers are to die for: the kani salad, seaweed salad, tuna carpaccio, tako su, and yellowtail with jalapeño and yuzu sauce are a few of my favorites. Ive never ordered any of the non-sushi entrees, but my boyfriend had the chicken teriyaki one time (he doesnt like sushi) and he said it was pretty good. Overall I would give them 4.5 stars, but since you cant do half-stars, Im rounding up to 5.Update: you know, maybe they do deserve 5 stars. Because somehow even when they screw up your order (which is EXTREMELY rare) its a beautiful thing. Id ordered a tobiko roll. They sent me what I thought was a tuna (tekka) roll. I dont really like tuna rolls that much, and I REALLY wanted that tobiko roll, so instead of getting the item refunded through Seamless, I called Miyako and asked them to bring the tobiko roll (I live only 2 blocks away). Not only did they bring it insanely fast, when I looked at the receipt I saw that the roll theyd sent by mistake was no mere tekka roll, but a toro (fatty tuna) roll. I actually DO like toro rolls. This is the Cadillac of tuna rolls and is almost twice as expensive as a plain old tekka roll. But I checked my Seamless receipt and bank statement and I definitely was only charged for the tobiko roll. So because of their mistake, I got a free $10 toro roll! Something I rarely get to order for myself because its so expensive!

Hard to find consistency at sushi places sometimes, but I was impressed with how I could get the same thing every time and be impressed every one of those times. Gotta knock off a star for the uni, the quality of which is hit or miss.

Comment: I was surprised that there arent that many Japanese restaurants in the local area. Many of the local restaurants serve sushi, but they arent sushi restaurants. Theyre just Americana with some sushi on the menu. Miyako Sushi is the real deal. I think there might be one other one locally. I got a sushi deluxe, as I typically do. It was very good and I got a lot of salmon, which I love. The salmon was...Im not really sure how to describe it...maybe a little oily? More than likely it was a more fatty salmon, and I am not a big fan of the extra grease. But it was still relatively good. I placed the order by phone and picked it personally, so I got to see the restaurant. Its a quaint little restaurant with several tables. It was a very nice evening, so they had the front glass doors opened up onto the sidewalk. There were some chairs set up for people picking up, set both inside and out. I did not see any more clients while I was there, though I didnt have to wait very long. I think this restaurant can be easily missed, but Miyako Sushi is definitely too good to pass up when youre looking for authentic Japanese food.

Quality ingredients, friendly wait staff, in an unassuming sparsely decorated Space, around a traditional sushi 🍣 counter where the chefs can be admired. Good COVID-safe practices. Two tables on the sidewalk, three indoors with a nearly completely open storefront (not just the door). Theres a wheelchair ramp for the two steps up. Will definitely be returning!

It is a place to escape and enjoy the finer things in sushi for a cheap price, especially lunch menu, where even high school students go by themselves. Comment: Fresh sushi within a reasonable price range for the Upper West Side. I had the $18.95 special that included two special rolls and a soup or salad. I highly recommend the bonsai roll thats wrapped in cucumber.

Comment: Beef Hibachi and Chicken Udom noodles were great. What a nice little hidden gem. Cozy interior as well. Did not order sushi, so cant speak about it. We did, however, order green tea and mango ice creams, which my son and wife loved! Service was great especially for 2 year old daughter. Id def recommend or go again based on my first visit.

Comment: The Seared Tuna Salad is really great! They have a great lunch special w/ 2 or 3 rolls for 10 bucks really cant beat that esp since the same rolls are full price after lunch. Great quick fresh neighbrohood sushi spot.
