Comment: Excellent Japanese restaurant! Conveniently located near the Morgan Avenue L train station. Atmosphere is cozy with three long tables occupying the dining room, making dining with big groups easy and the experience of dining next to strangers intimate.Lighting is soft and warm, and the service staff is polite and professional.Would recommend trying their hand rolls, the yellowtail and spicy tuna were both fresh and tasty, and come with not only the standard soy sauce but a unique ginger sauce that pairs well and is a different experience from typical hand roll flavor. The vegan gyoza were excellent and beat the reputation of vegan dishes being bland or boring. The miso ramen was hearty with good classic ramen toppings and can be made not spicy upon request. The dessert options are a matcha cake with chocolate ice cream with a fruit puree base, and one that changes daily that you must ask about. Finally, the wait staff is very personable if you want to start a conversation! multiple members of their team completed my outfit which brought me joy. 5/5 wonderful dining experience.

Comment: Unmatched sushi experience! These folks offer specials with seafood that gets rush-shipped in from the world renowned Tsukiji harbor in Tokyo - yes, you can have sushi that was in a Japan sea less than 24 hours ago. And if thats not your thing, this is my go-to spot for a decadent all-vegan feast. All that combined with an excellently curated sake selection and great atmosphere makes for one of my favorite treat yourself destinations.

Comment: Such an amazing sushi/Japanese restaurant! Their hand rolls (Temaki) are interesting, and the heritage pork Betty appetizer is phenomenal (get the egg!) Very tasty miso soup. Small menu but they do practically everything well. I dont Ive ever ordered anything meh from here and Ive dined here about 20 times in the past five years. Repeat foodie customer: says it all. I get the hand rolls (one of each: ebi, spicy scallop, and spicy tuna) every time I go. The soy sauce flight they offer is an awesome touch and essential to the meal. I drown my Temaki (hand rolls) in the spicy sauce. I like their sushi bombs but usually I will get one of their specials - the main menu itself has been updated many times. They offer things like fried chicken and turkey leg randomly. This restaurant really hits the spot. Its not luxurious (because someone will complain about the benches and proximity to other diners during peak hours - its not that bad, or just go during off hours if youre bothered by that sort of thing) but the service is usually superb and you will get a solid meal here. Good place to take a first date if you are feeling nervous and want to break the ice, but not very romantic. Not a place to bring your kids but most places in Bushwick arent... Yeah, this place is definitely good. I looked over my own review and now Im hungry!

Comment: Been here a few times and usually its stand out. Sake is delish and food hits the spot. Today, the bun of the chicken bun was uncharacteristically dry and the rice bowl was overstuffed with rice, which I hope was just a one-off. Skip the spicy tuna bowl unless you prefer overly creamy sauce. I find it detracts from spice and tuna flavorDo eat the Gyoza and the Sake.Salmon rice bowl has wonderful lite flavors.Buns are usually stand outs.

And sushi which is obviously Japanese and those roles are to die for. Either route you go your definitely going to be pleased with what you ordered. Comment: Id say this place is one of my top 5 places in NYC. Simple garage style sushi place with mostly amazing and fun servers. You can find outstanding fish on the menu, simple vegetarian options and also really exotic japanese dishes and grill. My absolute favorite is seafood mazemen, along with spicy tuna handroll and a veggie sushi roll that is made out of tofu skins and filled with goodness. :)I think restroom needs some work, but I feel like lots of the restaurants in Bushwick need that. Im not thinking fancy, but maybe not half broken and wet and filled up with fake soaps in fancy packing.

Comment: This place doesn’t look like much from the outside but the food is amazing. The place has chill Brooklyn vibe, the waiters are cool looking and friendly. The service is very fast. You can’t go wrong with $4 sapporos also. I usually get guacamole tuna or salmon that are really delicious. They are small sized but really melt in your mouth, also the cilantro adds something special to it. The only downside that I personally find annoying is that the place is cash only so I had to get money out of my bank just to come here.

Comment: Dimly lit cute space with cool communal tables. All the sushi bombs are really yummy and not like your typical sushi! Oddly, I think the round shape definitely makes it more appeasing to eat. They provide you with 3 types of sauces that I had fun trying. The sushi bombs can also be found at their sister restaurant, Bozu. If you come to either of these restaurants you must try them! Service wasnt that great...Spicy Mc Bomb ($7)- 5/5 This one is my favorite sushi bomb out of all of them. The katafi makes such a huge difference- it adds such great texture and gives it a crunch.Guacamole Tuna- ($8)-4/5 This was pretty small... 6 small little pieces and some that seem to have nonexistent avocado/guacamole? Anyways, it did taste pretty good. The flavor sort of reminds me of tacos but with tuna.Handmade Vegan Gyoza ($9)-3/5 These were pretty to look at and thats about it. The taste was very average, and definitely not worth $9. It came with some sauces on the side as well.Ebi ($6)-4/5 This wasnt too memorable, but I remember tasting the cashew. Still pretty good though. Its also quite pricey for a hand roll.Spicy Tuna ($5)- 4/5 Again, this was another hand roll, and also not that memorable. However, its still good, but pricey.Oyako ($9)- 3/5 Very average sushi with roasted salmon, quite boring compared to other places. And extremely pricey for the portion..

Comment: Delicious sushi, but highly disappointing service. Ive been here several times now and each time I enjoy the sushi to the fullest but rarely have I encountered more unpleasant service. With only a few other tables, the waitress/hostess couldnt even be bothered to say hello but simply threw some menus down on the table - and heaven forbid you ask for any clarification on the menu items!! All in all, delicious sushi but truly terrible service.

Comment: Best food Ive had in a long time. I recommend the cauliflower wings and the orange chicken. My friends and i were just picking random things off the menu to try and it just kept getting better and surprising us as each item came out. All the food is locally sourced and organic. No bad ingredients, only the fresh stuff. Plentt of choices for everyone, whether you are vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, etc. The prices are great. The restaurant is cute. And the servers and hosts are so funny and hospitable. Will definetly be going back soon.

Comment: Momo is a reflection of what I want this neighborhood to be. Phils presence gives the outstanding food a human quality, compared to restaurants in the 2-block radius that are so mechanistic (you know who you are).Anyway, back to Momo - such a superb sushi restaurant, I just cant eat regular sushi anymore. Everything from the diverse and bountiful menu options, to the quality of fish, and best of all, the service. Phils team of servers are veterans, and most have been there since it opened. Its a true neighborhood spot, that know and love its locals, and care to give tourists and city-goers a taste of the local feel.As such, its always a good vibe, especially when Phil is there chatting everyone up. Good people, just absolutely good people there, so be nice to them, and tip them well!

Everything was both delicious and uniquely done. The staff was exceptional, and they take dietary restrictions seriously. The pricing would have been reasonable if the food was half as great as it was.tl;dr:Go here.

Comment: Welcoming and funky vibe, exceptional and creative food, stellar service. I went here on a recommendation from Andrew of Brooklyn Brewery (after running into him at a wine festival), and boy was that leap of faith worthwhile. Everything I ate was fantastic (and I ate a lot, from different sections of the menu) our server (whose name I unfortunately neglected to get, but he made us the paper crane in the picture) was extraordinary, and the whole place was exactly what Id hoped. Great music and atmosphere. I will certainly be back next time Im in the neighborhood, and will recommend it to everyone.

Comment: My favorite restaurant. I could eat their inventive rolls and fresh fish for days. They even created their own format of roll here- the bomb! Its basically a half scoop of rice with the roll built on top- yes its da bomb!- go for the party bomb platter ($19). But thats not all- their whole menu shines. Best on the menu include: pork Betty, tofu salad, kinpira, karaage, and seasonal tempura! Also, all of their specials are fresh and delicious. #1 rule when coming here: share everything!!! #2 rule: bring cash.

Comment: What makes a restaurant more than the food is the service. Phillip Gilmour, the man behind it all, along with the rest of his staff made it shine. Its awesome to see people with passion in what they do and mr. Gilmour oozes it. His staff was all very knowledgeable and friendly as well. I was pleasantly surprised when I called to make reservations that the only way to make a reservation was to sign up for the tasting menu starting at $65 a head. For being in New York, having tasted what we did, compared to other tasting restaurants Ive been to, the price is reasonable. With the tasting menu, they cater to your appetite and your pallet making the most of the $65 tasting whether your looking to get more full or to taste some more refined and yes smaller plates. We enjoyed dishes ranging from pickled vegetables to fried prawns flown in live from Alaska. Apparently Thursday nights are the best as they are always receiving shipments of a variety of fresh new product from all over the world. I will definitely be back again!

Professional, sophisticated, and our staff was very nice and attentive. Will definitely bring friends visiting new york to this location - a reason to bring newbies to explore Bushwick!

Comment: Seems like a shack on the outside maybe but the inside is beautiful and clean. The food is delicious and beautifully presented! My mom, sis, and I came at an off-hour (around 4pm on a Saturday) and were the only ones there. The servers basically treated us like royalty and the food came out literally in minutes. Like many people say, you HAVE to try the pork belly. But everything I had there was good and unique! Pretty typical to slightly high sushi prices but since theyre dishes are all extra special its well worth the price.

Comment: Pretty cool boutique sushi joint. I found the food to be worth the price ($8ish/roll) that I paid but my friends said that the prices were city prices. I often get specialty rolls back home at $13ish so it seemed pretty on par considering the rent in Brooklyn is probably way higher than CO.

Comment: The cozy dimly lit cafeteria-style space with its warm wood and electric blue LED tea lights sets a unique ambiance. The food doesnt conform to any trends either. The hot niku dishes are takes on classic fare you cant easily find in the city. The sashimi is fresh and delicate-- a perfect complement to the heavier dishes like the lamb gyoza or the pork belly.

Comment: Dont be fooled by the casual, friendly, and welcoming atmosphere. The taste and quality of the food here is on par (if not better) than all the stuffy and pretentious Japanese restaurants in NYC (I love them too though).I suggest you give your food preference to your server and have them curate a meal for you. They always get it right. Theyre also flexible in that they ask you how much you are looking to spend.

Comment: FINALLY this place has a beer and wine license! That aside, the sushi here sure beats the stuff you can pick up at neighboring Brooklyn Natural. If youre not sure what you want, let the knowledgeable owner decide for you — you wont be disappointed. The communal tables let you make friends with the people next to you or, if you prefer, just keep to yourself and enjoy a hamachi roll alone. The only downside is the long wait times. So if youre stomach is rumbling find something faster.
