Comment: Did a fun experiment with my husband tonight where I ordered the sushi sashimi chef special and he ordered the sushi sashimi regular meal so that we could compare. I think that I would just buy the regular sushi sashimi combo but just buy the lobster roll separately but it was a good experience overall. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely continue to frequent this restaurant.

Comment: We are long-time New Yorkers who no longer live here but visit often and this is definitely one thing I miss. Excellent quality sushi that doesn’t break the bank. Everything we had was delicious but the crispy rice was a highlight. I got one of the lunch specials (ladies’ lunch - dumb name but whatever) and it was SO good. If I still lived here this would definitely be in my rotation!

Comment: I had the black cod over a roll. The cod was scrumptious. The roll very non-descript and truthfully, boring. I also had edamame, which was large enough to serve a family of three. It was very tasty. Service was good. I was there, however, at 5:30pm. A bit overpriced. Ambience was lovely.Full disclosure: I just got back from Japan, so I’m undoubtedly spoiled.

Comment: Went with a large group of friends and nice to split various dishes. Really enjoyed the sushi and crispy rice. Some of the options wouldn’t get such pork shumi or cheesesteak sticks. Overall service was okay had some confusion with the dishes but they did come out quickly. Recommend for sushi as pretty atmosphere

Comment: The sushi was reasonable, but Ive had fresher. Its never a good look for a sushi restaurant when there is the smell of fish wafting about.I ordered salmon with avocado roll, and it did not look like salmon. Either the salmon was gray or it was tuna. But I was with people and I didnt want to argue.Service was very pleasant and the atmosphere was good. Most of the sushi tasted good, but there seemed to be a very strong smell or taste to the octopus. That was a little concerning it should not have a smell.The overall experience was okay, but I would be a little more concerned about the freshness. Although the other fish it did taste very good and did not smell.If the price was more reasonable I would have given them a pass, but the prices for sushi in my opinion were higher than Ive seen in this neighborhood. My usual sushi place is at least five or six dollars cheaper per person. So at these elevated prices, I would expect the best of everything and thats not what I got.

Comment: This place was stellar. The lunch specials are amazingly priced and tasty as well. Where this place really shines though is the service. Our water was never even halfway empty and when my boyfriend dropped a chopstick, they had a new pair in his hands before he sat back up from trying to grab the stray chopstick on the floor. We loved it!

Comment: Great meal - ordered the sushi/sashimi combo. The fish was well prepared and very tasty. I was disappointed my waiter didn’t recommend me a pairing with sake as a drink with such delicious fish. Sake would have been so amazing - but I tried his suggestion - Sauvignon Blanc and nah - killed the vibe. I would definitely speak up next time and question the pairing. Makes me wonder 1) the waiter doesn’t like sake 2) not properly trained 3) the restaurant doesn’t have sake pairings for it?! I believe the waiter needs better training. Other than that, the desert, matcha crepe, (is not very sweet - I dont like very sweet deserts) went amazing with green tea. It was interesting because it had red bean paste on top and blueberry/strawberry on the sides. This desert comes from chicalicious in st mark (Japanese pastry chef) and its great to have some of her uptown as well!! It was great! Great atmosphere! Will definitely come again.

Comment: First time at the original site at Amsterdam. Friendly welcome, warm and attentive waiters, excellent ventilation and visible safety procedures in place. The food served was excellent and especially the chirashi. I dined at the lower west side restaurant many, many times and found this location to be equally good in food and service quality, but slightly better in decor. A good place to stop for a good Japanese meal.

We had a Rainbow roll, BBQ Eel roll, Spicy Salmon and mAngo and avocado roll, Spicy Tuna roll and a Boston roll which is crab, shrimp, greens and avocado. Our waitress also provided excellent service and provided great suggestions. We had the warm chocolate cake for dessert which was delicious. We sat in their outdoor area and they were accommodating for a wheelchair. I will definitely be back.

Bun with duck(photo) was really very tasty, lobster rolls was kind of specific due to mango souse (have to mention that this souse has very natural mango’s taste). Today I went for the ~$20 ladies lunch special which included a small roll, whitetail ceviche, four generous pieces of sashimi and spicy shrimp tempura. It was delicious!
