Comment: Finally, I have found a ramen shop in NYC that matches Tonchin. Im surprised this place wasnt that busy on a Saturday night (and surprised it only had 800 reviews on Google). The XO Miso Ramen had a super savory broth and (somehow) savory vegetables. They cooked and infused some flavoring into the vegetables before adding it to the bowl (they could have served the veggies as a dish themselves). They tasted way better than the usual, almost raw veggies that get added to ramen. In addition, the way they reduced the XO sauce into the soy meat blew me away: incredible flavoring by itself, even better with the broth and veggies. The truffle miso ramen was good but not as tasty as the XO Miso ramen. This one had a very mushroom-heavy broth, and the vegetables took the liberty to coat themselves with the truffle oil that was added, so the broth itself didnt get that taste (rather then veggies did).I like my noodles firm but they were cooked too firm here (not raw, just barely cooked), so you may want to request softer noodles. In addition, the chili oil is actually seriously spicy, be careful!

Comment: This place is floating between a 3.5-4 stars for me, I like the vibe its a really small place maybe fits 10 people, prices are a little high but I did really enjoy the dipping ramen I got the one with double order of noodles which in my opinion is always a must have, the broth was hot, thic and delicious it coated the noodles perfectly, it had this slight citrus flavor that rounded hot the dish well I would come back for another bowl for sure

Comment: What a lovely spot. I usually come here to get the really good ramen. But on this particular day, it was scorching hot. So my friend and I opted for the Tsukemen, which is normally not as hot. I was surprised by how much I loved it. The yuzu makes this a very a unique broth. It makes the broth have a very savory but sour taste to it. The noodles are great, they pick up tons of the broth with each dip. The ajitama is perfect as always. I really like the pork but its not the best I have had. It definitely gets the job done though. I would pass on the mango tea next time. It was way milder than I thought it would be. Dont show up with a large party as the place is quite small. I also love the ordering system, paying through your phone and ordering makes it very convenient and efficient.

Comment: This has been a go-to spot for me. Went once when it opened in 2016(?) and then several times more recently. And its been consistent, imo. No frills, not trying to be anything other than what it is. And consistent, too. Its a solid choice. Ive had both vegetarian broths and found they are delicious -- sometimes people have bland veg broths. I prefer the XO one to the truffle one. Also corn ribs are just simple and good. Shishitos have been cooked right. I think I had the gyoza many years ago and they were good.On the comment about service that someone else posted: you order and pay on your phone. Waiters are attentive to filling your water, but sure, theyre not going out of the way to have a full-blown convo with you or tell you the ins and outs of the menu. But thats fine for me.Of course, if I want to go somewhere that makes their own noodles or has more of an experience, there are other options. This one has just always been reliable to me.

Comment: A truly amazing experience on a cold winter night in New York city. We hadnt reserved a place and the person at the counter was kind enough to give us a spot at the table instead of the booth adjacent to the wall. For a small dine-in place, they were very well managed and everyone was warm and friendly. The ramen was so good. We ordered one set of appetizer and ramen initially but ended up ordering more. Definitely one of the best finds during our trip. I will recommend this place to anyone who cares for a good host and warm delicious comforting food after a tiring cold day in the streets of NYC

Comment: Came here twice, on a weekend visit to New York: Once with my Japanese brother, and once with my South African wife.We skipped the appetizers, to zone straight into the soup noodles. The aroma of the charred pork, the refreshing touches of yuzu and ginger, the marriage of noodle and soup—we tried the new pork broth ramen, shoyu ramen, and tsukemen—all had us smiling.About the service: I could care less. For every restaurant will have strengths and weaknesses.Nakamura’s strength—the quality of its ramen—outweighs in importance its weakness.

Comment: Close to Chinatown and the LES bars is @nakamuranyc with yummy ramen. Honestly it was awesome to have a bowl of hot ramen after a couple drinks at the bars. Mine was a salty broth with thin noodles, and the other broth that I’ve tried (tonkotsu and yuzu) were completely different but yummy in their own ways. Would come back next time!

Comment: Had truffle miso and torigara. The broth and the toppings all tasted either a bit too heavy or kind of bland in the beginning, but once combined in mouth they reach just the right balance and became umami. To me that shows the chef has vast knowledge of ingredients to make a dish sing. The house-made mango pineapple fusion tea was very refreshing for the hot summer day and really did its job. I thought it was great. Thank you chef.

Comment: I decided to give them 5 since their tsukemen (dipped noodles) was impressive. (reason below)🍜✨Personally I prefer tsukemen than ramen so I always get it if the restaurant serves it. Their dip soup looks watery when came out. I was disappointed initially cause the soup should be thick to attach to noodles. But I was wrong. The soup was tasty, rich with a hint of yuzu to balance the salty flavor. Noodles were at the right texture, chewy and not too soft or hard. Highly recommended. Just a reminder, it’s double portion lol… I took out the rest. However, the yuzu wings was not that outstanding compared to their noodles. This is the reason why I was thinking about 4 but 5 eventually for the noodles. Go and try other appetizers and let me know..

Comment: Ramen was 5-Star but the Yuzu wings were not that good to me so that overall I gave them 4-Star.2018-09-05 Wed 9:28-10:04pm《Torigara Ramen 🍜 & Yuzu Wings at Nakamura Ramen in Manhattan, New York》It was great to have a chance to try this good rating ramen shop tonight. It was easy to find a Free street parking on weekdays evening.$14 Torigara Ramen 🍜 鶏がらラーメン / 雞湯拉麵I love Torigara (light & clean chicken broth). The Torigara soup was perfect to me with light soy sauce. I was happy to have the chashu pork that was fixed and warmed when it was served. The extra order of marinated egg $2 tasted perfect 👌🏻 and not too salty.$10 Yuzu Wings 柚子の手羽先雞翼/雞翅This dish looks like coming with 10 wings. Actually each wing was cut in half so that total were 5 wings. The wings were deep fried and then topped with housemade Yuzu sauce. Mmm.... As an appetizer, this dish was okay to me but I was not that excited when I was having them. The sauce was like American yuzu sauce and it was a bit salty and too sweet to me. I will go back there for trying another kind of Ramen menu next time instead of wings.Service: My orders were done in 10 minuets that was great. Two guys at the kitchen and the only waitress were not Japanese. Service was okay 👌🏻 as American style. Don’t expect to hear “thank you” when you step out this ramen shop. Remember that here is America.I like that they use an electronic pad for letting me pay tips and sign. I got my receipt by email electronically.Size of the ramen shop: only 20 seats with 8 small tables (one table for 2 people) and 4 counter seats.Restroom: very clean ! I didn’t expect too much but I was surprised to see that clean restroom when I opened the door.

Comment: I had the Tokyo tsukemen for lunch, and the torigara ramen for dinner the next day.The tsukemen noodle portion is huge, served cold as I read is traditional, and its dipping sauce is intense with the yuzu. I took hand strength to pick up and dip these noodles. Overall satisfying. The torigara I thought was amazing. Comment: Im not vegan and the truffle miso vegan ramen is on par with tonkatsu Ramen! Rich and creamy, but not heavy cause its vegetables, so greatramen for summer. All the flavors were well balanced between salt, sweet, acid, and fat. The truffle oil was not too strong and highlights the umami flavors. There was a shaving of yuzu zest on top that perfectly complimented the richness of the broth. Just sell this broth in jars! The noodles are al dente and had a nice bounce to them. Little on the thicker side, (I personally prefer thinner noodles) but these were made very well.If you are not vegan definitely add the shoyu egg. Super flavorful with custard center, just like in Japan!Wish I had more stomachs so I couldve tried more dishes!

Comment: Ramen is the highlight as always! So glad its the Niche crew in the kitchen, and they were so kind as to recreate the salmon mazemen for us. But mazemen generally was great (also got steak and chicken), as was the soupy ramen (got ton toro pork and XO miso). Definite highlights for the meal. Appetizers worth getting include the spicy yuzu wonton soup (could do without the chilli oil), mushroom cauliflower, the chicken teriyaki chashu. Wife liked the yuzu wings. Chef was kind enough for me to bring a special bottle of wine for $50 corkage.

Comment: Personally, I prefer lighter style of ramen, and Nakamura is definitely one of the better options in the city.Really liked the yuzu chicken broth of the Yuzu Wonton. Hints of yuzu adds a nice accent to the well made chicken broth. The wontons themselves had some textural issues—the wrapper overlapped too much so part of the skin was undercooked resulting in a harder texture on parts of the wonton, and an slight off taste—but was otherwise, not bad.The Torigara broth was good, the grilled chicken was very tasty. The noodles had a bit too much of the cooking liquid still in there, which affected the taste and texture slightly. Overall, still a good bowl though.

Comment: Highly recommend. I’ve tried four different ramens here, and each one has had completely different flavor profiles and characteristics, delivering a truly diverse variety of (wonderfully delicious) ramen options unlike any of the many, many others ramen places I’ve tried in the city.Location is pretty small, but they do a good job of serving/seating people pretty quickly, and the atmosphere is enjoyably cozy. Pro tip: join the Yelp waitlist ahead of going.Love their custom Nakamura ramen bowls featuring drawings of famous NYC sites. The ramen spoons are also more ergonomic than some other ramen places, making for easy portioning & sipping.

Comment: When we were in NYC last summer we researched a lot what the best ramen shop is and ultimately narrowed it down to two, both in LES. For no particular reason we decided to go with Nakamura. The place is tiny, yet cosy. No toilet or option to wash your hands, which wasnt that amazing. Menu is short, but absolutely enough. We got shiso fries as a starter (nice!) and the tontoro pork ramen. The ajitsuke tamago doesnt come with the ramen if you dont order it extra. We did and it was perfectly cooked and marinated. Broth was velvety, rich and super delicious, noodles were nice! The best ramen I have tried so far (however I havent been to Japan!). I will definitely return!

Comment: Loved this ramen shop! Came here for a quick dinner, and couldnt have left happier. I ordered the truffle umami fries and the tontoro ramen— both were delicious! The fries are pretty much like fancy seasoned McDonalds fries, in the best way possible. The broth was thick and rich, and soooo fragrant from the sesame oil. The noodles were thick and chewy! I only wish I ordered extra noodles, it was that good!!

Comment: We like the ramen at Nakamura. Very satisfying on a cold New York evening. Luckily, we didnt have to wait long for a table because it wasnt completely slammed. I thought the chicken wings were very strange, more like a pile of bones that had been fried. It made me wonder where the rest of the wings went. They have another place next door that serves a drier dish no broth ramen - mazemen and there was a bit of a line there. The menu had some crossover items so you could also get a couple of the mazemen options without having to wait on line next door. The service was Swift and efficient.

Comment: Cute spot, excellent ramen. What more could you ask for? The place is a little on the cramped side, but it’s New York so I think we’re all used to that at this point. There is French music playing from a small bose speaker in the corner which is amazing. The avocado uni app is much more flavorful than expected - highly recommended. Same with the wings. The Tontoro ramen is so good it should be considered a schedule 3 drug. Will certainly be returning.

Comment: Went for weekday lunch. Had the pork broth ramen. Pluses: food was tasty, service was fast and friendly. Minuses: a little pricey for the portion size (I got the regular size). I may go back because its conveniently located for me. Also kinda want to try their signature chicken ramen. But, there are better lunch ramen values in the area.

Comment: First timer, arrived at opening for lunch and had the place to myself so didn’t feel rushed. Had the signature Torigara with the special egg and server made me a nice pot of hot green tea. Nothing disappointed especially the clean layered and complex flavored broth. I like the way the pork is presented. Server was right, I’ve already started thinking about the next bowl.

Comment: Try the torigara if it’s your first time— favorite bowl of ramen in nyc. The broth is clean and flavorful without being fatty/greasy. It’ll leave you feeling refreshed rather than weighed down. The meat and egg are cooked perfectly and the noodles have the right amount of spring. Awesome place. The specials are usually great too— if there is tsukemen available, get it!

Comment: The two bowls of ramen (tontoro and jidori), gyoza, and the limited time uni toast I had were delicious. Dont have the uni toast if you cant stand the flavor though. Though I have to say, it was a tad bit pricey for two bite-sized pieces but, then again, this is uni were talking about which is normally pricey. The location of the restaurant seemed kind of like a hole-in-the-wall to me because of how small and slightly out-of-the-way it is. But, despite that, it felt cozy to me. Putting that aside, the food is definitely good and the price is typical of ramen in the city. Definitely give it a try if youre in the area. Took pics of the ramen and gyoza but forgot to take a pic of the uni toast. 🤦‍♂️

Comment: Good signature ramen (torigara) with clean flavors. The chicken meat from the rice bowl was too charred and had a bitter burned flacor. Small cozy interior space and waitstaff service, while pleasant and cheery, can be slow with one person managing the entire front of house.

Comment: Got the signature torigara and the broth was so gooood! Definitely one of the best chicken broth-based bowls in NYC. The uni toast was also interesting and worth its price. Comment: I am visiting from Las Vegas and the ramen over there is amazing. I didnt think it could be topped, but what I had here was almost perfect to me.The bowl wasnt massively overfilled with vegetables, although one slice of chashu was not enough. I opted not to get an extra one as I wasnt really hungry enough to bother. I did get a poached eggs with it and it was perfectly cooked. The broth was great, the flavor and texture is just the way I like it.Prices are a bit high, but for the quality you get, its worth it.

Comment: Its a great ramen spot with awesome customer service. I had the Jidori Mazemen and while the broth cut through the chill in my bones like a hot knife, the soup was a bit too salty for my taste. I picked at it for a bit and couldnt finish it. When asked if I wanted it to go, I declined. The waiter proceeded to let me know that they were always happy to reserve the dish to my liking. I thanked him and asked for the check. He was nice enough not to charge me for the ramen. Totally unexpected and awesome of him to do that. Dude was super attentive, knowledgeable, and kind. We had the crispy avocado appetizer which was delicious and unique but sadly, a seasonal item which means, obviously, it will not be available to order forever But which also means, the chef takes time to create a fresh menu that works with available food items- always a good sign.

Tiny little spot off of the Williamsburg Bridge that has a nice cozy atmosphere.Got the Tontoro Pork ramen with the Ajimata Egg add-on. The flavors are spot on. Such flavorful broth that had a nice thicker feeling to it. The spinach went well with the chewy noodles as described. Only knock I gave it is the pork seemed pretty thin and a little harder than some other tasty ramen houses in the city. Not the melt in your mouth kind of pork Ive gotten used to at other ramen 🍜 restaurants, but nonetheless really good ramen.

Comment: I really liked the ramen. While not my most favorite, it was definitely very good; filling but not too much. What I really recommend is to ask the server what appetizer is good. We got the beef yakiniku and it was done to perfection; not overly grilled, tender when you bite, and seasoned perfectly.Do keep in mind this is a pretty small place, like a hole-in-the-wall. So its not a place to bring large parties. Nor is it recommended to stay too long because like classic ramen shops, its not a place to dawdle too long talking. You order, you eat, you pay and go.

I’m still a rookie when it comes to trying ramen and exploring the many different offerings in the city, but compared to the places that I have been, this place was the best. The service was good. The ramen was great. The broth? Fantastic. It really made the meal. For reference, I had the “Tontoro Pork” which consisted of rich and creamy pork broth, chashu pork, spinach, nori, chewy noodles.I highly recommend this place for anyone who never had ramen before or people who are looking to try a new place. Comment: I’m not a ramen expert, so I can’t be too detailed in my critique. But for the price, the food was tasty and filling...and quick! We both ordered the smaller bowl, and felt satisfied leaving. Now, the plan for the day was to enjoy a lot of food in a lot of places, so if you’re hungry and want to be full to the brim, order the larger size. I did think it was strange that there was an extra cost to add boiled egg to the ramen, as I have typically had that included in the base. There is also an option for extra noodles, which we saw come in handy for a fellow patron who ordered the larger bowl, and wanted to finish the remaining broth with more noodles. The restaurant is small, so capacity is quite low, which might explain the wait some reviewers mentioned. The staff is friendly, and the service is really nice without being overbearing. Overall, good place.

Comment: Small place but it only adds to its charm. The Ramen was amazingly delicious. Broth had a lot of flavor and a creamy consistence. Such an experience. The meat was perfectly cooked. Surely one of the best Ramen Ive tried. Will be one of the first places Ill return during my next trip to NY.

Comment: So far, this is the best ramen I’ve had in NYC. The broth was very tasty and the portion was quite large. The restaurant itself is really small, and every time I’ve been there has been a line outside. Well worth the price and the wait in line!

Comment: Really good ramen place. The price is a bit on the higher end, but its definitely worth the value.I got the Tontoro Pork, which is heavier and more savory. I definitely enjoyed the broth, and it was the perfect balance, as the salt didnt diminish the natural pork broth taste. The only thing I feel like could be improved is the meat. Maybe Im spoiled from Ivan Ramen and Momofuku, but the meat at Nakamaru could be more tender.Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here and will gladly come back in the future!

Comment: The most versatile ramen purveyor in NYC. So many different styles done well, from the rare in NYC yuzu to more common spicy chicken, it all excels. Add in the silly drinks, and you have a winner.

Comment: I made a mistake and had ramen for lunch before going here for dinner & I was convinced I couldnt eat any more ramen... but it was so good I still had half my friends bowl. The broth here is chicken-based, so different from the usual pork / tonkotsu ramen.Make sure you stay on the north side of Delancey because otherwise the bridge kind of cuts you off.Ate:- torigara ramen- yuzu wings (so teeny, but so tasty!)- fried shishito peppersUpdate 9/12/17: went back with a non-pork eating friend & the menu made it super easy for her to figure out what she could eat. I love the chicken-based broth here - super healing.Ate:- torigara ramen- shaki shiaki ramen ( 🌶)- teppan gyoza

Comment: The ramen was really good and had a lot of flavor. We had tontoro pork and torigara. In my opinion tontoro tasted the best out of the two. Also if you plan on going call ahead and reserve a table. It is a small place and we had to wait 30 min for a table. It is pricey for a bowl a ramen. If you are looking for good ramen and cheaper price this isnt the only spot for it.

Comment: Went here last Saturday. The average waiting time is between 30minutes to 1hour or more during dinner time. Probably less if youre planning to go during weekdays or earlier than dinner time. Anyway, staffs are friendly and I felt the environment was cozy. I ordered jisori ramen, its made with chicken broth and soy base and of course chicken. The broth was clear and had really good flavor. Its not too salty or too blend. You can order extra noodle for about $2.00. Pork base seem good too. I highly recommended to people who love ramen. Cant give 5 star because of wait time.

Comment: Really good ramen place off the beaten path. Great food with nice drink selections as well. Had a really good time hanging out here with a group of friends. The staff were kind and helpful. Very small location, but fit 7 of us no problem because we got there right before the dinner crowd started rolling in. Will definitely need to come here again.

Comment: I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at Nakamura, from start to finish. We had a number of appetizers which were good. I drank a Yuzu Chelada, a play on the tomato based classic. It was very interesting and refreshing, although a little expensive for what you get. I ate the Tontoro Pork ramen, which was packed with flavor. This place also offers a number of vegan friendly dishes, so its definitely worth checking out with any plant-based friends.

Comment: I have now eaten here a few times and each time the food, the service, the atmosphere has been AMAZING! For breakfast, the omelet is perfect, not to mention the best deal in town as its only $6. And the coffee- the Italians know how to make it right. And when you have had too much coffee, you can switch to wine and chill out to the great music thats always playing. They really know how to set a vibe for all occasions. Now for the dinner- truly spectacular. Simple but sophisticated menu with a little something for everyone. The ravioli pesto special was one of the best pasta dishes Ive ever had. Cant wait to go back and try the steak! I am so excited to be living so close to this place. This is a very welcomed addition to the hood.

Comment: Cozy (small) atmosphere--not that its a negative but since the food is very good, you might run in to some wait time; unless you get there at the opening or close to closing. Friendly, knowledgable staff that both advise and cater to your needs/wants.We went with a group of 4, and had the Szechuan chili and granola cucumber with their (famous) gyoza (both appetizers). Both were amazing! Cucumber app was not new, but it was simple and creative (because of the addition of the crunchy granola) while the gyoza was just right (the filling was with ground chicken, as opposed to pork/beef--still very good)!I had the curry ramen (not too spicy and not too bland--just about right). The miso ramen is good as well, which my wife had and I forget what my close friend had--either way, we cleaned the bowls! They also have options for summer ramen, which is basically cold ramen. We didnt try it because we wanted to see the execution of the basics first before jumping in to their nifty selections. This also gives an opportunity for another visit soon! The menu is small and simple with creative kicks and it makes to a cleaner, more enjoyable eating experience. They also have the cutest beakers for drinking glass--unique.Overall, great atmosphere, tremendous staff, exceptional food, modestly priced. A great find!

Comment: I went to the newly-opened Nakamura tonight and had the XO Miso Ramen. It was delicious with a robust, hearty broth. The noodles have a nice texture and bite. Theyre still in soft launch so hours are limited but it looks like theyre off to a great start so far.
