Comment: I had to write another review because this place never disappoints. The team, including Ricky and Melanie, are top notch. They are welcoming and incredibly helpful. The tuna crudo with apples and chili are a must have, and my go to roll is the yellow tail basil. Food never disappoints. Please visit this spot!I have been to this spot over 10 times now and it truly never disappoints. It’s become my go to sushi spot. The staff is great and friendly. I highly suggest trying the chefs tasting menu if it’s your first time. Our go to is the Yellow Tail Basil roll and the sushi and sashimi deluxe. Their mochi is great too, if they have espresso or chocolate chip try it! The aesthetic is beautiful, Modern, and clean. The food is fresh, delicious and consistent.

The Oita sashimi stood out for its exceptional freshness and delightful chewiness. Furthermore, the staff members were incredibly friendly, adding to the overall positive experience. Comment: We’ve ordered takeout hand roll sets from Oita before. We took them to the park for a picnic and they were delicious and well packed. The seaweed of the hand rolls were each wrapped in plastic so they wouldn’t go soggy.Ever since then, I’ve wanted to dine it. It’s so cute inside. We came by on the weekend around noon and it was pretty empty. There’s a sushi counter and many tables too. We ordered 2 appetizers and the sushi roll set. Everything was tasty and came out pretty quickly. Highly recommend!

When eating out at sushi restaurants, I love a variety of different rolls and apps and OITA does this well. The sampler plate that we had was a combination of crunchy rolls / spicy rolls /classic rolls / fresh rolls (one had pesto, which I thought was an interesting take).You can’t go wrong with this spot for a great sushi experience.

Great atmosphere and everything is fresh and expertly prepared. I’ve been going there since they opened a year ago with my sister. Whoever wrote the review that they have been going here for over 4 years isnt talking about correct place. They haven’t even been open that long. Can’t recommend this place enough, I bring any visiting guests here.

It fully embodies the essence of Omakase, and executes beautifully.I have been searching for true Omakase within the city, and it has been surprisingly difficult to find. What I ask is a place that puts thought into the food, focuses on the fish, with reasonably pricing. Oita hits all scores. Impeccable combinations focusing on bringing out the delicacy of the fish, the Akami (tuna red meat, 赤身) is especially astonishing... even better than all my 20+ experiences in Japan.The dining environment is pleasing, using wood as its main décor just as tradition. The seats are so generously spaced, you wont even overhear conversations from the next table.Oita does not abuse toppings to mark up its price. On top of all this, on Christmas the Omakase even came with a glass of Kubota Manju (very high-ranking gourmet sake). At $85 Omakase, it is truly a pearl of the NYC Japanese cuisine scene.(Please forgive my poor photo capabilities. It does not match the amazement of Oita and is missing the last plate of 5)

Flavors came from great ingredients and the toppings (added to some of the sushi, were actually complementary and not distracting from the fish). The botan shrimp sushi and scallops sashimi were my favorite pieces during my visit. Sushi chef was kind and friendly. Staff was attentive. Will return for other dishes and more Omakase.

They have a pretty extensive menu, so even if you’re not a sushi fan, you will have no problem finding plenty of delicious items to enjoy. Plus they have great selection of wine and sake!! I ordered fried calamari as appetizer and I was so impressed even a common menu item can be taken to another level! I’m sure you will be impressed too. I ordered sashimi dinner as my main course and I chose to have it all salmon. I have never tasted salmon this fresh, this sweet, and this flavorful. Hands down. It’s hard for me to go to another Japanese restaurants now because I have become so spoiled by the quality of the foods here!

We decided to try Oita for takeout, but I have to say the interior is gorgeous, and on a Saturday night, business looked good (tables were still safely distanced, which I appreciate). We ordered the tempura udon, the kimchi, the fire roll and the chirashi, and everything was so delicious and fresh. The food was packaged and presented SO beautifully -- just as gorgeous as the photos in the online menu.I loved the texture of the noodles -- perfectly bouncy, and the broth tasted clean and comforting. The fish in the roll and the chirashi was really nice -- good quality and tasty. Lovely, fast service, too. The food was ready even a few minutes before the promised time. The whole experience really exceeded my expectations. Im definitely going to be a regular here. Welcome to Park Slope, Oita!

I went there first time just because it is closest to my work, then often get to treat myself a nice pack of sushi after work.The store is tiny, sometimes easily packed with people. Sometimes the service takes time as they get busy, it is still understandable since there were only 3-4 staff running the restaurant.The best part is the quality of sushi : they always keep it fresh, never disappointed me. The yellowtail roles are delicious. I also always order the spicy tuna rolls and shrimp tempura. Ive had the Udon noodles soup with a yummy tasting broth. The steamed pork gyozas are also delicious. You will be happy as they are really deliciously fresh, soft and flavorful. I have also been there for lunch and the lunch specials are really good deals. For about 13-15 dollars you can get several rolls, salad and kimchi and soup. Amazing deals. All in all, sushi is very, very good and the prices are phenomenal for the quality you get.

Comment: This place is a MUST TRY. The sushi that was offered was so delicious, fresh, and of such good quality. I was quite surprised as this place can barely seat 10+ people at a time. They dont have a restroom for you to use either.

Comment: Its a very good sushi place, despite its size and missing a bathroom. It relies heavily on takeouts and deliveries, because there only 2 small tables for 2 each and another 3 to 4 people sushi bar.Quality for food is great! And the lunch special is actually really worth it.It includes 1 roll (I tried the shrimp tempura, and it was great!), a little bit seaweed salad, 1 piece of shumai, a side salad, a soup, small cup of udon.On top of the lunch special, we also ordered the yellowtail basil and its one of their signature rolls. The yellowtail inside was fresh and when eat it with the basil inside, its super refreshing. For me its the first time i had sushi with fresh basil inside.Waitress there was nice, and polite. The whole store wave you goodbye when leaving. Recommended.

Comment: I love this place. I cannot believe how they make these harmonized fresh sushi. The ingredients are so fresh. It makes foods more tasty. When I eat yellowtail basil sushi, I cannot belive how they think and create this tempting harmonizing taste. Im almost space out to eat. Also I love curry udon. When I heard that they didnt put any seasoning, I cannot believe it. I heard that they just use natural ingredients, such as jujube, squash and so on for sweet taste. I wonder how they make profit to make foods with this way.Moreover, the look of sushi is kind of art. Especially for catering service, you will see how beautiful it is. When I get the catering plate, I usually feel that I just want to see and enjoy without touch. But my mouth and stomach cannot regret to taste it, so I always rush to eat.I definitely can recommand you this place to taste it. If someone knows the fresh taste of sushi and sashimi, she or he would understand what Im talking about.

Comment: Curry udon with beef was amazing. Not too strong or heavy as Normal curry dishes. The udon was nicely cooked and the mushrooms and tofu was delicious.Mommas roll was ok, very fresh and generous serving. Looks very fancy otherwise it is just a normal roll.
