Comment: Been here a few times & always had a positive experience. The portion size is a little small for the price point but everything I ordered was delicious and prepared thoughtfully. The service is very attentive and kind - our water glasses were always filled and our food came out as we were finishing up plates. A great choice for when you are craving authentic Japanese food!

Comment: Very relaxed meal, intense and distinct flavors, in a relatively vibrant Japanese restaurant. The staff was very friendly and seemed to really respect the food. They made me feel very welcome. My favorite dishes in the tasting menu were the beef soup and noodles, as well as the misa soup in the appetizer. They were however rather salty and I woke up thirsty. I would love to be back.

Comment: We took our daughter and a couple of her friends here during a recent visit to NY, and we all enjoyed a wonderful evening! The service was top-notch ~ our glasses were never empty, and our plates were brought and cleared promptly without us feeling rushed. To begin, we ordered the assorted seasonal appetizer which had something for everyone, even the vegans among us - very tasty! Our entrees included the black codfish, the skirt steak (both cooked and seasoned perfectly), the omen noodles (vegan) and the Kobe beef Shabu-Shabu hot pot, which was an experience in itself! Exceptional customer service and exquisite Japanese cuisine. A great dining experience!

Comment: Ordered simple avocado salad to start it off, which was crisp and delicious. Afterwards, we got a Sashimi platter, which was also amazing, the fish was delicate and tender. The Uni was pleasantly like nothing Ive ever tasted before. At the end, the miso steak was cooked perfectly. To top it all off, when it started to rain outside after we arrived (we came with no umbrella) the host gave us an one that a customer had left behind. Would recommend.

Comment: Unwelcoming atmosphere but attentive service. Expected it to be run down after not coming back for a few decades but it was well maintained and clean. Cocktails are a hit or miss. Tuna tartare was of quality but bland. Nice agedashi. Miso udon was nice. Futomaki was surprising small for the price and just ok.

Tucked into a narrow and unassuming space is one of the best Japanese restaurants below Houston. It doesnt aim to compete on high style, just incredible quality food that you will absolutely love. Dont make the mistake I did, go check it out.

If you live nearby this place, with its friendly service and simple but delicious homestyle Japanese fare, it will quickly become a regular hangout spot for you when craving great Japanese food at a quintessential SOHO neighbor spot. I have never had a disappointing meal here. Theres a reason why you always see New Yorks best writers, artists, musicians and other creative professionals discretely tucked away at tables here enjoying a good meal.

Comment: You expect to need a mortgage for sushi in Manhattan, let alone sky high Soho, but omen a zen - while by no means cheap - is reasonable-for-soho, as I was able to get financing for a meal from my car dealership. The sushi and especially sashimi is tops, everything very authentic and prepared and served in true Japanese style, with a dedication to service. Not too noisy, but does get crowded.

Some of my favorites are the edamame shumai, trio of sushi tacos and the sashimi cucumber rolls. They also have yummy cocktails, although some are a bit on a the sweet side. This location is one of my favorites of the chain. It has a chic ambiance that feels fancier than some of the others and is just one block from Union Square. Comment: A lovely little find. Quite authentic Japanese, style for decor, which somehow really works in NY. The menu was interesting, and has a separate Saka menu,. The Tempura was crisp, and not over fatty, and the Udon (hot or cold option) was spot on.
