Comment: We had the pork and chicken curry, both were great with a pleasant amount of spice. We also tried the eel over rice and sliced beef over rice. The rice in each dish was perfect. Assorted sashimi/fatty tuna was very fresh and buttery. Mentaiko pasta had a strong mayo flavor that most people enjoyed. Atmosphere is casual, chill, and comfortable. Definitely a great place to come back for.

Comment: Well well well. When we walked in we were welcomed by the AURA of good food, smells, and vibes. The food, impeccable, the place, phenomenal, and the service, amazing. We got the agedashi tofu, which was capital D divine, the mentai pasta, which felt like heaven on your tongue, and the chirashi sushi, MY GOD, the FLAVOR! Guy Fieri would be jealous. Overall, I am so happy for this experience, loved every second of it and will be coming back (say that in terminators voice)

Even though we got seated at a small table in the corner it didn’t feel cramped at all. Their fish quality showed right off the first bite. I enjoyed every dish we had, apart from the dessert. The food was so good we even went back for lunch a couple days later. The ambience is pleasant. Not too dimmed that you can’t tell what you’re actually forking. They are located right by the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens so it’s a great chance to give them a try after enjoying a stroll inside the botanical garden. Step inside for a full bar with friendly staffs inside a beautiful environment. There’s also a climate controlled patio for a different experience. Cocktails are amazing especially their own old fashioned. The Kani Miso Set on its own is a masterpiece with fire flaming the crab shell while warming and grilling crab meat and juice. Appetizers are deliciously prepared and not overwhelming. Rice bowls are generous in portions without breaking the bank. Temaki is humongous and guaranteed to fill you up. Always always save room for dessert as we tried their amazing Matcha Mont Blanc Cake from their fall special menu.

Comment: Very delicious. Incredible flavors and the mock tails were stunning. Both the yuzu and the watermelon were so so tasty. The sushi was also great! I was really impressed with the quality and flavor of the chirashi bowl. I can’t wait to go back and try more. Also: the staff are super friendly and accommodating! The back patio is really cute and the restaurant itself has such a great vibe. They have seasonal menus so definitely check it out.

Comment: Very enjoyable food, tasted fresh and with distinct flavors. The menu offers a large selection of Japanese Izakaya dishes and sushi, and theres something for everyone. Everything I tasted was good, so if you like options this is a good place. From my order the sushi roll was the least favorite; it was fine, but it just didnt feel as fresh as everything else.The outdoor seating on the ample sidewalk is great for people watching. The staff is very friendly, but they made the meal feel rushed: all mains and appetizers came out at once, and they asked too many times if we wanted to order more food. The prices felt reasonable, but not cheap.

Comment: Sublime Japanese food at a quaint spot in Prospect Heights.Went for pre-dinner apps and assuredly will be back for a full meal.Delicious tofu and miso cod. Also the shishito peppers and salmon tartare!Sake was good and service was great!Highly recommended!

Comment: Great place! Finally a real and affordable Japanese restaurant opens! At here you not only enjoy genuine Japanese dishes but get enough portion of them!Tempura is fried well! Tonkatsu Curry is dry and delicious, rice is a lot and I can’t finish them all. Salad is also simple and good. One thing can be picked is that the kaisen don could give us more uni in terms of that price, nori is enough, and I hope they offer a cool rice instead of warm one as an option, just a two cent comments.

Comment: Loved it!! Cute decor and the food was yummy. Both fish dishes were tender and a pleasant surprise. The agedashi tofu was more on the sweet than savory side but we liked it. Toasted mochi with green tea ice cream is a must!

Comment: The best mentaiko pasta ever. Creamy and rich but well balanced so it’s not too heavy. Everything else was spectacular, but the mentaiko pasta has us thinking about it every day since. We’re now moving to Brooklyn partly just to eat this every week.

Comment: May be a bold claim but I really think Ozakaya is the best izakaya in the neighborhood! (and even my favorite place to eat on a daily basis).I first tried the delivery and was very happy with everything ordered. Hence I went to the restaurant to try more dishes.Easy ambience with bar and table seats, broad menu with a variety of options, I especially am impressed with their rice dishes. Highly recommend Cha shiu fried rice and takoyaki!

Comment: My new favorite neighborhood restaurant. The dishes, decor, music, staff, and overall vibe were all perfect for a late Saturday lunch. I’m truly impressed by the execution of the dishes. I highly recommend the seaweed salad (I don’t think I’ve had a more interesting and flavorful version that this) and takoyaki to start. Get the chicken with Japanese curry and an asahi and you’ll have a great time.

Comment: This restaurant just opened in the former Stocked space on Vanderbilt. The ambience is perfect, toned-down lighting with a great jazz soundtrack. They don’t have outdoor seating yet; indoors there are 7 or 8 tables and a bar with comfortable stools. The menu is extensive and the food is excellent—there was a special miso black cod tonight that stole the show. Everything is very well presented and the staff go out of their way to make you feel at home. It seems they’re still working to round out the full set of dessert options; in the meantime, the matcha green tea ice cream is generously portioned and hits the spot after a good meal.
