Comment: We were a bit overwhelmed when we received a menu on Saturday evening that only offered a choice between 6 premium courses at $140 per person. or 6 “non-premium courses” at $90 p.p. offered. When we then said that we had already chosen our favorites from the card on the Internet, after a brief consultation between the keeper and the manager, we were given the card that gave us the choice we wanted. The food was incredibly fine, prepared with a lot of love, exquisitely seasoned, the freshest ingredients, the finest sesame oil roasted... etc..We chose the tuna tart, fois gras and the octopus salad as a starter and had the pasta with truffle and lamb and the vegetarian pasta with mushrooms as our main course... Highly recommended!!!! The boss prepares very creative and very tasty and light dishes in the smallest of spaces.

Comment: My husband and I stopped by for his birthday dinner in their storage room (back room). It was a painful experience. The chef they hired for sushi omakase had a visible mental health issue. As we are both healthcare professionals, we tried to sympathize at first, but it became threatening at a certain point. The entire hour, he was speaking to himself, mumbling, barely comprehensible. At one point, he said it’s his first night and that’s why he doesn’t know what he’s doing. He didn’t know what any of the fish being served was and said that he normally does vegan cuisine. He would put something on our plate, and take it off to garnish it, and put it back on because he was forgetful. It was chaotic and made us nervous. We tried to stick it through, but the poor man was going off the deep end. I’m not sure why this restaurant hired this man and put him in a poor position as well if he doesn’t have sushi experience. We stopped our dinner and spoke to the waitress, who moved us to their front of house restaurant fortunately. It saved our night. The food at the front of house was delicious. I really enjoyed the salmon and lamb entrees. The main chef even stopped by the table to apologize. They realized how poor the situation was. The atmosphere was intimate and cute. We appreciated that they switched us over as the alternative would’ve been to step out of dinner from the storage room.Needless to say, I owe my husband a re-do birthday dinner ;)

Comment: Talk about creativity! The menu challenged an adventurous foodie like myself in the best ways possible. I was able to feel safe getting experimental because the service felt so personalized. We were walked through on the best ways to eat each dish and it’s now become an unforgettable memory in my book.

Comment: Literally stumbled on this place by accident and ended up ordering the omakase. So some context before review, this is a tiny restaurant run by one chef, a sushi chef and a waiterl/somm. Its a *very* small operation. So if you come during dinner time on weekends, only sushi or omakase is available.Honestly, Im glad ended up getting the Omakase. Some reviews will complain about portion size or punchiness of the meal overall, but I personally felt it was very Japanese and balanced. Many places claim to be Japanese in concept and french in execution, however few really reflect this in terms of the conceptualisation of their dish. Many restaurants simply replace western ingredients with Japanese ones and plough on forward. Not this place though.Despite the clearly French and Spanish inspired menu, theres a distinct Japanese flair to the execution of everything. Its clear that a meal here is meant to leave you refreshed and yearning for more rather than bogged down and full.Portions are small because theyre meant to always leave room fo yearning. To always be reserved and humble at first glance rather than an immediate uppercut of flavor.Depending on how you like your food, thats either a plus or a minus.I really appreciated how the dishes flowed and how the meal never became too much or too rich. Every dish was a gateway of possibilities. Eating every component alone, then with other condiments, then adding on sauces, offered a rich transformation of flavors. Some complementary, others contradicting. Even more amazing was when flavors cancelled each other out to highlight a primary flavor. Thats not even accounting for the transfomation of flavors when sake is involved.Ths was especially true of the appetitizers, which could be eaten alone, or with nori (the first dish) or bread (the second dish).Pulling the conversation back to sake.Rabbit house has one of the most excellent food driven sake menu Ive seen in NYC. While most places continue to further the clout of daiginjou, Rabbit House curates interesting sakes from all of Japan. From dry and acidic tokubetsu junmais, to fruity and sweet red mojo nigori. While Im sure there are even more niche places in NYC for Sake of obscure origins, if you want to diversify your sake palate alongside lovely tapaz, this would be one of my top picks. To anyone looking to visit, I actually recommend coming alone, or preparing your partners to really sit with the dishes versus making first-bite judgements.Final note, service is impeccable, but being someone whod happily sacrifice good service for fantastic flavors, the delightfully attentive service provided here feels like a cherry on top rather than the primary motivation. So yes, if you like slow dining and connecting with your food, AND you love sake, I cant recommend this place enough.

Comment: One of the finest meals Ive had in years, the tasting menu with Sake pairing rocks and Im especially partial to the rabbit course as well. All of the portions were ever so much more than could sate even the most shameless glutton, (not judging, gluttony and I are fast friends). Rabbit House unfurls a really fun atmosphere, compelling culinary adventure, fabulous conversation and divine music...I recommend Rabbit House unreservedly and often. Thank you Miho and Chef Yoshiko, cannot wait till next time!

Comment: Very tiny place that offers Omakase tasting experience. To be fair, I had quite great experiences lately with other places, so my expectations were high. Well, all of the courses that we have prior to Rabbit and Lamb were okay. But! These two dishes were just off the hook! Really really good!!!! Pretty much was worth the whole experience. The other thing, they really need to beef up their dessert game, especially after such experience as I have mentioned with their hot dishes. All in all, its a nice cozy place that I recommend visiting.

Comment: What a great, unique little gem! Very warm, friendly service. Delicious food and sake, everything we had. It’s slow and a little chaotic in the best way. Not for lack of organization, but because they are going above and beyond in every way to serve their customers. And who wants to race through a tasting menu anyways? Good music too. Comment: The first appetizer started with three different ingredients, each with its own characteristics, which made the family marvel. The Bloody Marys oyster shot, the sound after eating was not an end, but a restart. For the second time, I can count the liver dishes that I like, but the one chosen by this chef is sweet, soft and smooth without feeling greasy, which is great. The third time, the seabass was paired with clam juice, which enhanced the taste of the light seabass to the extreme. The fourth degree is the signature dish. You have to experience it personally and taste it in person. You will definitely be overjoyed. The fifth degree, black truffle hand noodles with mutton sauce. Handmade spaghetti is my favorite, it tastes great. In the sixth degree, use sake-pickled pears and add soy milk sauce. The meat in the mouth feels fresh and the strong taste is gone.

Comment: What a love love lovely place. I was impressed by the dishes here. Mean to try their restaurant week menu, but we were told they were not serving the set on weekends. Initially, I was a little bit upset since they didn’t mentioned it anywhere online. However, they caught my heart back after the night.. and I think they are a small team..You could tell how the chef cared about each dish, with creative flavors. They seemed familiar but always had a twist, making it new.❤️‍🔥Highly recommend the rabbit! The menu changes each season but I believe it will always be tasty. The cold udon was delicious as well, the duck was cooked perfectly.

Comment: This is very cute rabbit themed Japanese restaurant. You have the option to order from the menu a la carte or do the omakase regular for $80 or the premium for $120. I was able to try the premium option and compare it to the regular and I think the premium was definitely worth it if youre a fan of meat. The lamb and kobe beef were delicious and cooked perfectly. This place is expensive. Gratuity is also added automatically so just be aware to avoid double tipping.

Comment: It was a great last-minute find, we were in the area and this popped up on google and there was a 530 seating open so we grabbed it. They were really nice to accommodate my wife for the omakase menu because she cant eat the foie gras or rabbit, so the substituted in some tuna and some mushroom dish as well as an octopus dish. So we got to do the omakase together, but we got different dishes. We did the sake pairing and it was great. The rabbit and the duck were my 2 favorite dishes. The octopus dish that my wife had was some of the best octopus I’ve ever had too! They should feature some sake from kato sake works in addition to brooklyn kura. I like their sake menu a lot…

Comment: My friend and I were in the LES for drinks and decided to grab dinner last minute. There are a lot of great options but we weren’t sure where we would find availability. We stumbled upon this place and were unsure they would seat us for omakase. We were so pleasantly surprised when they were happy to accommodate us and offered the full omakase menu at short notice. It was such a cozy atmosphere with limited seating options and super friendly service. They rotate their menu seasonally and we were lucky enough to get their Summer menu! We both went for the omakase and it did not disappoint!!! I always say that if I’m going to eat out, I want an experience I can’t get at home. This was definitely the most creative meal I’ve had in a long time! It’s definitely worth it if you’re adventurous and open-minded, and you seriously can’t beat the price for what you get. There’s such a variety of dishes that you definitely won’t get bored, and everything is so different than the dish before. Even if you put all food aside, the service was truly remarkable. The waitstaff were hands on, but also gave us plenty of space to enjoy each presentation. I loved learning about each dish, and even more so the passion and intention behind each creation. This is a true NYC gem and I would recommend that you check it out! There was another table who left while we were still eating and they said goodbye to the waitstaff in such an endearing way, they were clearly regulars who had brought their family in from out of town! Seriously, check it out!!!

Comment: I’m genuinely amazed that all 6 courses on the menu could use such expensive and high quality ingredients and still be $80 with included tip. They were all really interesting, well executed, and tasty. Also I think it was just one woman doing the whole thing which I only noticed at the end and it blew my mind. She’s a literal treasure.

Comment: This place is phenomenal. We did the Omakase set menu with the sake pairing for two and it was truly one of the best dining experiences and best prix fixe menus I have ever had. Six completely different and incredibly interesting courses, with very thoughtful and robust sake pairings. Really opened my eyes to the huge variety in sake! The last savory dish, tender pieces of duck over a chestnut rice, which the owner said was inspired by her childhood, was one of the most amazing things Ive had at a restaurant. Highly recommend this place!!!

Comment: Went here for their 6-course omakase with my boyfriend. We really enjoyed all of the courses as well as the drinks (he had a cocktail and I did the sake pairing). The foie gras in particular sent me to heaven, and the duck breast was the tastiest Ive had. There was a lot of attention to detail that made the whole experience really delightful.

Comment: I took my fiance to enjoy the Omakase menu, since we very much enjoy good food and tasting menus especially (why try one dish when you can try seven!). I expected variety, but what I didnt anticipate was the sheer quality of the entire experience. I was so impressed with how they functioned despite the virus; exchanging emails with the hostess/chef, she seemed entirely concerned with us enjoying the experience over making money, and even with her cooking alone and just one waitress, the delicate concern and attentiveness from both of them as we dined outside was commendable and very special. I cant even begin to imagine how someone could have designed the menu we were served - the flavors were combined so unusually but so, so perfectly. My fiance is an experimental home chef, and he cant wait to try to recreate some of the dishes. He also tried the sake pairing, and described it as the only time I have understood why pairings work, since it complimented the food so well. To sum it up: incredible food in an adorably caring environment, well worth the trip.

Comment: We did the omakase before the Grand Opening of the new location. I think we were the only reservation for the night but a group of four decided to walk in. Unfortunately, only the owner was the only one working (probably because she only expected to serve two people.) Because of this, our food didnt start getting served until over an hour after we were seated. We were in no rush that night so it didnt matter.Very small restaurant but bigger than last Rabbit House. Can seat around 12. The owner was super nice and friendly. The lychee drink I got was not very good but I think they just got their liquor license so there is room for improvement. She didnt ask me when I made my reservation or at the beginning of the meal if I had any dietary restrictions so I couldnt eat two of the six dishes. Im not even sure if she could have made substitutions.I really enjoyed the gnocchi, the snacks, and the rabbit. Wasnt a fan of the black sesame dessert. I would come back, especially because my cousin lives down the street.

Comment: My husband and I are super fans for the rabbit house so we were really excited to hear they opened up their second spot.We were here for their 6 courses Omakasa Prix Fixe dinner during soft opening. Overall, the food was amazingly delicious but the service should be improved to operate more smoothly.Firstly, we were served when we waited by sake bread sticks which was sake-smelly with soft texture. We both loved all 6 courses which were delicate with high quality ingredients and surprised us every moment we had.Our favorites were Foie Grass and Risotto with Wagyu beef, the Foie Grass was amazingly soft and melted in your month, the Risotto was flavored with truffle and little bit chewy which we loved the texture. The best thing was the chef introduced every dishes with ingredients, stories and meaning when she served.Only complaint was their service, attentive but reluctant since it was the first day for the waiter. Moreover, we had our reservation at 6:00 pm (There were only 2 time slots: 6:00pm and 8:00 pm) and waited more than 30 minutes to be served. The chef told us she needed to wait another group but, for us, they should take their own responsibilities since they were late.

Comment: Came here for a weekend dinner. This location is in the west side of the first location, about the same restaurant size. Was greeted by the server when coming in, and he helped putting down the belongings. It’s omakase so you don’t have to choose, and they will ask for allergies. The dishes start to come when the party arrives in full.Infused water: I think it’s pear infused.Bread stick: soaked in sake. It got a very unique flavor.Snacks: I don’t enjoy the egg and the sea urchin is a little too salty for me. The Bloody Mary has an interesting taste, but the oyster wasn’t as fresh as we expected.Foie Gras: The taste is really good! The daikon reduces the fatness of the foie gras, but the richness remains. It has a little sweetness to enrich the whole dish. Very well designed.Poached King Salmon: The salmon was lightly salted. The bases was a nice balance of the purée and the tofu mango sauce, with a little chopped beans. I enjoyed the base better than the salmon.Signature Rabbit: The same dish as it’s first location. The chocolate sauce is a creative addition to the tender rabbit. Together, the balance of sweet and salt give a nice touch to the meat.Wagyu Beef: imported beef from Japan and truffle from Italy. It has a very mild flavor and extremely aromatic. This is probably the most western-styled dish and we enjoy it a lot!Sale Poached Asian Pear: The pear is really yummy and refreshing! I don’t like the almond paste but that’s very personal, and I still like the dessert.Good service in general. A little on the slow side as it seems to go on the fine dinning track. As soft opening, it has special price of $65 per person which was worthy.

Taco is tasty too, but ribs are especially tasty. Please try! They also have specials too. They also have exhibit by local artists every month, so you will get to enjoy art while eating. They are open late, and I frequently stop by with friends after dinner for a late snack and drink.

Comment: I used to live around the neighborhood, and I have been to multiple high quality restaurants all round the city. However, I can clearly say that this place has different vibe. Food are exceptional, like the poached salmon was better than that of Jean-Georges or Abc kitchen, pork rib and artichoke dip are so special that makes u want to dance. Plus the dessert was better than any other specialized shops. If you are looking for a cozy, healing, enthusiasc mood and some exceptional modern Japanese dish with the best sake collections ever in the city, I kindly ask you to visit Rabbit House. The best.Oh please dont forget that they serve the brunch as well. Matcha pancake and Japanese egg benedict with rice instead of bread? You must give it a try.

Comment: Our meal here was really something special. The restaurant is very small - kind of an up and coming place - such a great find and exactly what I love about dining in Nee York. We went on a Wednesday evening and were sat at the bar immediately. I believe there were just two women working the kitchen and bar, personally churning out edible art on a plate for their guests. If you’re looking for something different this is the place. Really interesting flavor experience that I feel so fortunate to have had.

Comment: I am a local in the area and could not be more thrilled to have happened upon Rabbit House on my walk home the other evening. I will most certainly become a regular. I had a delightful experience there: everything from the menu to the sake and wine selection to the dishware and decor has been chosen with such intention and attention to detail. The food was fantastic. I had a few dishes that were all very different from one another -- from tuna tartar to slow cooked pork to octopus tacos -- and each was delicious. Everything was creative and unique. If youre in the neighborhood, you must stop by. If you are not from the neighborhood, you must still stop by.
