Comment: This place is cozy and small but always packed. It is located near where I live. Let me say that I only I had 2 drinks and the drinks were excellent and very Japanese inspire. The service was excellent. My bartender was Joshie, such a cutie and excellent customer service. ( Sorry if I misspelled the name) He was charming and very knowledgeable. Since it is only my first time, but definitely not my last. Try the Japanese old-fashion drink!

Comment: One of the highlights of my visit to Roks was their fresh oysters. As a seafood lover, I am always on the lookout for restaurants that serve high-quality seafood, and Roks did not disappoint. The oysters were incredibly fresh, bursting with flavor, and expertly prepared. Each bite was a heavenly delight that left me wanting to order another round.

Comment: Fries chicken bao bun lives in my mind rent free. Deliciousness at its finest.Chicken ramen is creamy and has a hint of nuttiness to it; Its definitely a taste some might not enjoy while others will.Chicken chashu was mid. Its a pretty tough slice of chicken breast.Service and atmosphere was nice and cozy. All in all, the star of the show is their fried chicken bao bun and karaage.

Comment: Get there early if you can. It gets crowded so there can be a little wait. Needless to say the wait is completely worth it. Try the West Harlem Icetea. As youd expect the food is exceptional, service excellent. Its a tiny place. A gem, worth showing off to any one visiting or if youre impressing a date with your local knowledge and an eye for reasonable prices.

Comment: UPDATE (10/19/23):please add the option of matcha salt or curry salt with the karage chicken. not a fan of the change in “salts” 😕updated on 11/7/22:HUGE improvement with their karaage chicken & pork in the kyoto. chicken tastes like it used to. juicy, tender and flavorful (not salty). the pork belly is the kyoto was less fatty 🙌🏽. the spicy shrimp bun is the only issue. for $7, there should be more than 1 shrimp in the bun (it still tastes yummy). soooo thinking either put more shrimp or lower the price please. otherwise, nice to have my favorite ramen spot back on point 💃🏽💃🏽😋😋😋it is with a heavy heart I write this review. I fell in love with ROKC just after it reopened post pandemic shutdown. my bf introduced me. Id never had ramen or karaage before. their kyoto made my palette soar and the karaage was sooo yummy. but as of late the recipe has been inconsistent, sometimes the kyoto is very spicy then others not so much. they,ve reduced the number of braised pork in the ramen, down by one and sometimes the fat is poorly trimmed and I get a piece thats mostly fat. the karaage has also changed and not for the better. it used to be juicy and flavorful, now its over cooked and just a more salty profile. there are not many good ramen spots in nyc, let alone in northern manhattan. I really wish with all my heart they would get back to the way they used to be.

Comment: The only signage indicating the restaurants name is a small placard at the bar with the word ROKC. Waiter said the most popular dishes are the Kyoto (which was great) and the Bone Marrow Waugh which is a couples dish. Small restaurant that fills up quick but great service and food comes out quickly. PRO-TIP after dinner here go next door to La Perla Negra (speakeasyish bar) for drinks and on Fri and Sat nights there’s a DJ there.

Comment: Came here with a bestie who hasnt had Japanese food in so long. It was totally worth it 👌🏽 The atmosphere was very lively; the space is small and cozy on the inside, but there is outdoor seating too. The bartenders put on quite the show 🍻 One guy literally looks like an anime character with his hair lol. The presentation of the pineapple passion fruit drink was surprising 😲 it tastes sweet and tropical too. The shrimp bun is not too spicy, just mild. It was good. The karaage was delish, like lemon chicken; the matcha salt topping gave it a nice flavor. And of course, the reality. Oh the ramen 🍜 So decadent. Flavorful. I wish I had more noodles it was soooo good. Definitely a nice spot to enjoy with friends (no more than 4 probably, spacing!) or solo dolo 😎 Def coming back here with bae next time 💕 Itadakimasu~ 🙏🏽🍜

Comment: My friend and I went exactly at 5:01 pm to this place and immediately was greeted and sat down. Already an amazing experience. We look at the menu and drinks and we decide on getting Pork buns/Shrimp buns, Summer cold Ramen, and Bone Marrow with Wagyu beef soulless ramen & the Sea Urchin deviled eggs with the Pineapple+Passionfruit and a Mescow Spicy drink. My only complaint was that the Bone Marrow could’ve had a bit more fat in the bone itself, it was mostly green onions. The presentation for the pineapple drink was so cute, didnt expect that! The place itself is intimate and small, I can tell why it’s first come first serve. The best thing on their menu for me was definitely their pork buns. 9/10!! Would definitely return and it is worth a try!

Comment: This spot, this spot! Owned by two brothers (I believe), this gem of a restaurant is my go-to to impress and welcome anyone visiting from out-of-town. Cocktails: best I’ve ever had except for maybe Milk & Honey (they’re closed) yet what sets ROKC apart is their welcoming atmosphere, world class cocktails and delicious food/ramen. Not a big ramen fan myself, but theirs is delicious to the last slurp. Please stay open forever because it’s a fixture of Harlem that we are so proud of, 👏R👏O👏K👏C.

Comment: Wow, I was truly very impressed with ROKC. Everything from the food, drinks, service, and atmosphere was excellent. The ramen dishes are inventive, luxurious, and delicious. I had the wagyu ramen with bone marrow and it was INCREDIBLE. Never had anything like that before. The beef was sweet and savory and melted in your mouth and the sauce was rich but didn’t make you feel bloated or like it was too much oil. I think the bone marrow paired nicely with the scallions on top which provided some sharpness and acidity to balance the flavors. The appetizers were on point as well. I especially loved the karaage chicken with matcha salt- probably the best karaage I’ve ever had. I also found the edamame with a hint of yuzu in it very addictive. My husband ordered the summer cold ramen and that was also delicious as well - it had a nice amount of spice and bit more brine from the seaweed but it was perfectly balanced and very refreshing. For the quality of food and overall experience ROKC is definitely one of the next restaurants I have been to in NYC period. I would love to come back here again and highly recommend it!

Comment: ROKC, I love you!!! The rounded flavor of each ramen broth is divine. My one critique is that the cauliflower in the curry soup-less ramen seems a bit like an afterthought, I liked the variety of texture but it didn’t add any flavor or elevate the dish at all. That dish could also use at least 5 pieces of shrimp, 3 small shrimps definitely feels skimpy. Oysters are great & fresh. The cocktails are INCREDIBLE, but in my honest opinion, they aren’t strong enough, and some are quite small. Still love you ROKC, only some small improvements can be made to make your restaurant EVEN BETTER!

Can be a little loud as the seating arrangement is small. To get to your table you may need to walk sideways. There is steps to get into and out of the restaurant. Comment: I got their ginger cocktail (spicy, aromatic and, as requested, not sweet). It was served in a copper cup with freshly chipped ice. New favoriteThe star of the evening was their Kyoto ramen. The broth is…. Just simply delicious. Their noodles just al dente. I have never been to Japan so can’t speak to its authenticity but given this city’s trendy ramen spots to produce a caricature of ramen (which isn’t always bad), this one feels close to ramen original intent: Simple, savory, slurping good.

Comment: A hidden gem, literally hidden, in Harlem. When people are lined up outside in the cold November Rain (Guns and Roses), and at night, it speaks of what this location represents. I dont frequent Japanese restaurants, because, honestly, Im not too familiar, but I was lucky enough to be shown by my friends. Fantastic food and atmosphere. Make sure to arrive when they open at 4PM because it will get crowded really fast. The service is great and the food is delicious. All I can say is to check it, and enjoy it.

Comment: The best place. My go to. Been coming here for years. It is worth the wait and the coin. Friendliest staff and unique cocktails. They are consistent and are always helpful if anything isn’t to your liking. Only suggestion I would make is that they put rugs/sound cushions on the ceiling to help with how loud it can get. Hard to have a conversation if it’s crowded. Otherwise, 10/10

Comment: Really cool Japanese ramen focused spot. Large cocktail list with dynamic designs and presentations. I had the matcha and my friend had the grapefruit - loved both. Pork belly bun was fine but the spicy fried chicken bun was delicious. We had the Kyoto and Sapporo ramen which we enjoyed. Items added up quick though! $110 with tip

Comment: Excellent but somewhat expensive. If you can grab their happy hour oyster deal, its great. The oysters are delicious but tiny. Their spicy fried chicken sandwich was delicious, as were all the cocktails there. The highlight of the exprience for me was the Smoke cocktail which was one of the best cocktails Ive ever had. My friends and I agreed that it tasted like being in a wood cabin. It was phenomenal. Ive taken to recreating it at home.

Comment: ROKC had a very nice and welcoming vibe. It was a cute little establishment that served great drinks and good food. The drink menu is expansive. You would have no problem finding any drink you could like! The food was good, but I wish they had larger portions. Expect to pay the same amount for the drink as you do food. The whole menu is between $15-$20.

The showpiece cocktails are stunning and excellent Instagram fodder if thats what youre looking for.The buns and ramen are all amazing, you can pick a poor choice all are delicious. The place is small but they turn tables quickly, definitely worth popping your head in and trying to grab a table if you can.

Comment: 100% recommend. Came here with my partner to have dinner on a weekend night. Food was exceptional and drinks were refreshing and tasty. We ordered two ramen and a pork bun. Others have said it and I repeat: the pork buns are sooooo great. The ramen was delicious as well, albeit a little small on the portions for the protein. We also ordered some mezcalita-like drinks that were very good. Definitely will return!

Comment: This cozy and limited menu establishment hits your ramen craven just at the tip. Their pork servings on incredibly tiny and not fulfilling. The ramen base is flavorful and tasty. Satisfying all those taste buds.Their liquor options is also limited to a defined list however, the selection I made was rather good and mouth inspiring. If you’re hungry for ramen this is not the establishment. I recommend visiting if you have a small appetite.Decor is bland but does give New York City speakeasy vibes.

Comment: Excellent food and incredible staff. The dishes were a fair portion, and the drinks were very well crafted and also fairly priced for NYC. Vibes here are also incredibly on point. Our party of 6 came here the night when Hurricane Ida was hitting NYC. We wanted to sit outside and had a dry table that worked great. Towards the end of the evening there was a tornado warning and we sought shelter inside where we were invited to wait out the storm. The staff that night were welcoming, generous, kind, and were clearly super dedicated workers. I look forward to coming back.

Comment: This is really a cocktail bar that also has some Ramen. There is an extremely limited selection of food. If you are a vegetarian (as I am) there is one ramen (better than none!) and edamame. But hey, thats something at least!Youre really going for the cocktails. We moved to the neighborhood a few years ago and this has been a favorite. The cocktails are awesome, and the menu changes here and there, but consistently VERY good. And the one time I ate the veggie ramen, it was fantastic.

Comment: Man, we got seated immediately, and the staff was full of positivity from the get-go. The waitresses were so kind and attentive, the bartender had a gnarly haircut, and the drinks were awesome (we got the hikiji(seaweed) and pineapple-passion fruit cocktails.) We broke and ended up ordering 24 oysters. They were clean and very good quality, plus the sauces complimented them so well. I ordered the Sea Urchin+Salmon Caviar Ramen which was so amazing and my girlfriend ordered the Summer Cold Ramen. Mine was phenomenal and the Summer Cold was good but we’d probably order something else if we had to change anything about the experience. 10/10 is an awesome experience and would be here weekly if I wasn’t visiting from California.

Now that they have a nice outdoor set up we were easily able to get a table for dinner and drinks! Overall only had to wait about 15 minutes but they allowed us to order drinks during our wait. Comment: Came to ROKC (btw not pronounced Rocci like someone else mentioned - stands for Ramen, Oysters, Kitchen, Cocktail) for the first time after my partner raved about it for years as the best ramen in the city... well, he was NOT wrong. The ramen was very good, BUT everything else was just as delicious and made the whole experience perfect. We ordered yuzu edamame and those have to be the beet tasting edamame’s god has ever created. It was the perfect amount of salt and spice to start your night. If you liked shrimp, I HIGHLY suggest getting the spicy shrimp bun! Those fried shallots make the perfect crunch with every bite. I want to go back just to order 10 more of those. I ordered the Kyoto ramen and it was everything I needed on a cold winter night.Their drinks are out if this world. If you like mezcal, I suggest the Mexican Firing Squad. Mezcal and spicy tequila 👌🏽. The Oaxaca Old Fashioned is also a must on their menu. I’m a big mezcal/tequila kinda guy and I was not disappointed.I suggest either getting there at EXACTLY 5, or a bit before. We got lucky and sat down at 5:15 in an outside table. There was someone in front of us who was missing a party member and they were not seated until everyone arrived. We got lucky and sat down. There are 3 heated tables outside and one near the entrance (outdoors). The heaters were great, but we went in around 38 degree weather. They were perfect for our legs, but I might suggest being a blanket and bundling up until you get your warm ramen.Again, HIGHLY suggest and it’s worth the wait.

Comment: If you’re hunting for a date spot, THIS IS IT. First of all, the cocktails are fabulous. I started out with the cumin-yogurt (starring mezcal) and moved on to a truffle-honey drink. Both were heavenly (but, fair warning, strong). While it would be worth it to come here for the drinks, alone, don’t sleep on the food. The pork dishes (bun and Tokyo ramen) were mouthwatering. And while my boyfriend isn’t an oyster person, those looked amazing, too. It was a bit of a wait on a Friday night, but you can order those fantastic drinks while you wait. I cannot wait until I try this again!

Comment: Cute bar and ramen with happy hour oyster special. The place is small and fills up as soon as it opens so plan accordingly and arrive before it opens to secure a seat or plan to wait. The drinks are innovative and strong served in creative glasses/cups. I have tried almost all and each is different. The ramen is good, just not great. I would not come just for that. Service is pleasant and quick, without pushing you out the door.

Comment: Some of the best ramen Ive had in a long time. The ambiance of the place is really lovely and the cocktails were delicious. Not sure if you can reserve, but its always busy so if you plan to go with more than 2 people, call to see if you can book a table.

Comment: This ramen shop is very good, the pork bun anf the shrimp buns are very delicious. The ramen noodles had the consistency I enjoy, chewy. The little bit of yuzu zest added so much flavor to the ramen, I was amazed at the flavor. The two drinks I had was very well made, the homemade ginger drink and the apple warm. The aesthetic is very beautiful, hints of traditional with a mix of the modern and a hint of steam punk.

Comment: Very good ramen and oyster bar! Oysters were delicious, and ramen is as well. Cocktails are also pretty phenomenal honestly, and very specially made. Definitely one of those places where you hear the “oo’s and ah’s” as people get their cocktails, which are sometimes on fire or have an incense burning in the ice.Only two downsides, which for me, are somewhat big players and definitely make you have to consider when you come here. This place is small and it seems to always be PACKED. The first night we tried to get in here, we waited an hour and a half and ended up leaving because it was likely we would’ve waited another hour with how many were in front of us.Other thing that bothers me the most is service is pretty poor here in my opinion. The server seemed like he could care less for us to have a good experience, and we had to try to grab whoever we could to put in another drink order and get water refills. Maybe it’s the level of chaos in here due to how busy they are, but definitely a major downside to the good food and cocktail you receive.Other notes: price point is on the higher side, but for the most part, what I expect in NYC.#rokc #ramen #oysters #cocktails #newyork #ny #nyc

Comment: This place gets 5 stare for the quality cocktails alone. Unlike a lot of places that do kitschy drinks ROKC makes delicious and not overly sweet cocktails. I love them. Most of food is good, not great but it doesnt matter - the cocktails carry it Definitely recommend the oyster happy hour, and the edamame side order. Unless you dont mind waiting, arrive early, the restaurant is quite small.

Comment: Had two awesome drinks, the pineapple and the flower. Not very much given, maybe 6 oz for 13$ but they tasted good and the presentation was cool. We also got a chicken ramen, I forget the name, but it was a good single serving portion for the price and was amazing. 10/10 would recommend!!

Comment: Excellent ramen, the broth is very balanced, not too heavy like some can be. They have a long and interesting cocktail list and their drinks are served in very creative vessels - one of ours came in a conch shell. Get there early for their happy hour oysters.

Comment: I wouldnt bring a party larger than 4. Best for 2, or 4 due to table sizes. Really great drinks, all made by hand. Good food. Oysters were fresh and tasty. Ramen was excellent. Has options for vegetarians. Edemame was really best Ive had, not sure about the seasoning but its really tasty too. Medium expensive. I would go again.

The cocktail is great with consistency on presentation no matter how busy they are.The ramen is considered small but reasonable for its price.Definitely be back :)

The cocktails are well made and pretty impeccable! I ordered the pineapple and it was both pretty and tasted really good. The process of how each cocktail is made is a really entertaining show! Comment: Great hidden gem. They have an awesome happy hour for oysters everyday and it was excellent. We also had the baos which were perfect. I have two cocktails the first was the Hijiki and the smoke. Both were well crafted and smooth. Great intimate place but I highly suggest you get there early or expect to wait. Cant wait to return for some ramen again!

Comment: This place is truly awesome! If your looking for amazing Japanese style ramen your in the right place. The oysters were. Beyond fresh and delicious. The cocktails are amazing, theres something for every taste bud. Im definitely going again. But not on a Saturday night. This place has maybe 15 tables and a bar. We waited at least 40 mins to be seated. But it was worth it for us we loved it!

Comment: Your best bet for ramen & Japanese food in this part of town. The cocktails are splended (try Truffle and Flower!), appetizers are delish (recommend the Melty Pork Buns), and ramen is savory. The only improvement they couldve made was that the food, ramen especially, took a while to come out, much long after we had finished the appetizers. You know its good when the place was packed at 10pm on a Friday, so come at a wise time!

Comment: One of the best places in Manhattan. A superb and welcome addition to Hamilton Heights. Since its first opening when there was a limited experience (read: no cocktails or varied ramen offering), they have always delivered top notch, quality items and service. They have grown and now have a highly curated menu of ramen, oysters, kitchen, and cocktails, so hence its namesake. I love to come and have a cocktail with my wife on a Friday night. However, they have grown so much in popularity, there are times during the evening where the wait is sometimes upwards of two hours. Prepare to wait, yet you will receive the best experience and the most delicious food and drink. Lucky for me, I can put my name in and come back. Cheers!

Comment: I would have given this place 5 stars for ambiance, food, and the cocktails are out of this world. 🌎 The happy hour oysters were delicious and my ramen was so good I wanted to lick the bowl. However there was a waitress who came in midway through our experience who was trying to rush us. We were there spending money throughout the whole time we were there and because They were a little busy at 6:30pm she tried passive aggressively to get us to move along. However I must say, the whole of our experience was fantastic.

Comment: I love this place - the ramen is great, theyve got some solid oysters, but the real draw are the cocktails. Their entire cocktail menu is innovative, creatively presented, and incredibly tasty. The lines can get a touch long, and theres almost always a wait, so come prepared, but know that the wait will be well worth it.

Comment: Oyster bar meets ramen shop meets stylish cocktail bar. Everything was delicious, had high attention to detail, and was reasonably priced. Line out the door - but not too long. The drinks are all totally unique, the oysters were silky, and the ramen was IMO traditional and tasty. Highly recommend.

Comment: As a Harlem resident, I am so happy that ROKC exists within walking distance of my home. Finding myself here 3 times a week, easily, I bring visiting family, friends, and loved ones here constantly. As a self-proclaimed Ramen aficionado, this place checks out all the way! (PS. I apologise for the poor quality of images...ROKC has low but beautiful lighting).First, the interior. When you first stroll up to ROKC, the unassuming grey exterior is minimal. In fact, you would miss the sign altogether, it is tiny and out of view, adding to the feeling that you have discovered a real gem. You walk down a small flight of stairs into a small waiting patio. Dont be dismayed at the long wait...1. It is worth it. 2. You can order drinks out there! The interior is beautiful. Nude walls with a slight texture, bottles, and shelves adorning the back wall, beautiful low-lit pendants, all add to an excellent New York feel to the space. But the food! I am not typically hyperbolic, but you could eat the food off the floor it is so good. Having eaten there more times than I would care to admit (about 20 times thus far), I tried everything on the menu. You cant go wrong here!Their drink menu is comprehensive and wildly imaginative. I shouldnt expect anything less from the creators of Angels Share, one of my all-time favourite bars in NYC. Japanese Old Fashioned is as smooth and silky as they are elegant and robust. The truffle arrives on a slate with parmesan cheese drizzled with honey. When you smell the drink it is definitely laced with truffle, often scaring timid orderers. However, when you drink it, you are surprised at its almost fruity and juicy like sweetness. The Thai tea is laced with warm spices and a milky sweetness, adorned by a star anise and accompanied by a portion of leftover drink in a broken eggshell in a nest. Needless to say, ROKC has an incredible flair for presentation. Other drinks include domes of smoke, flambés, and Mexican sugar skulls. Bring friends if you want them to feel impressed.THE FOOD!!! Oh God, the food. Restores my hope in humanity. The Uni Tofu (not pictured here) is so decadent and silken that you feel it should be forbidden. Uni tops a small dish of ridiculously smooth tofu, with a dousing of an earthy umami bombed sauce. Like being kissed by a lusty mermaid. Chase that with their Melty Pork Buns. Everything a bun should be. The bread is light and smooth, filled with pillowy air. The pork belly falls apart when you just look at it. And the addition of a sweet Japanese mayo sauce basically made my tongue slap my brain out.As far as Ramen, I would always get Tsukemen. However, I was really sad to see that it wasnt currently on the menu. But the Sapporo Ramen is thick creamy heaven. It is sweet from the corn, yet a slight warm kick from the obvious presence of black pepper in the best of ways. The meat cut is tender fall apart juicy. A small dash of butter on top basically makes me want to quit my job and work there. (Really, ROKC, let me know if you need a waiter...for real). The Kyoto is also no joke. You can honestly go with any ramen here and you will be in love. The noodles themselves, often the last ingredient paid attention to, have the perfect alkalinity and bite. Really just great all around. As for the staff, the bartenders are knowledgeable and kind. They pay attention to you and I think they strive to build relationships with local customers (getting there guys). Sometimes, when busy, you can have a little wait, but that is to be expected of busy NYC eateries like this one.All in all, I cannot recommend enough. I bring people here constantly. Make sure to get a few drinks, a few apps, and a bowl of ramen. It is worth every cent!

Comment: Coziest noodle spot I have been to and I cannot wait to come back. My partner and I were looking for a noodle shop and the fresh oysters were a bonus. That, and the bartenders masterpiece cocktails.CocktailsEach looked like a piece of art and made us excited to come back and try them all.(Pro tip: get a seat at the bar so you can watch them come to life. Impressive is an understatement.)NoodlesI had the Okinawa chicken ramen. Broths are either chicken, fish or a combination of both. For ramen purists, not having pork broth might be a turnoff but I think theyd be hard pressed to find fault with these noodles. Combined with their house blend of spices and its perfect.
