Comment: What a find! You do have to look for it, but it’s so worth it. Tucked in the back corner of the Rockland plaza, don’t let the darkened windows put you off, it’s all part of the authentic Tokyo experience. Once inside you’ll find the decor as creative as the food. Even Standard dishes come alive with inventive touches. The soft shell crab salad with seaweed is a standout. The rolls are an adventure. I loved both Godzilla and Spider-Man. The highlight is theNabeyaki Udon, alone its worth the hunt. Take out is available as is enjoying your meal with attentive service in a beautiful atmosphere reminiscent of an off a side street, downstairs restaurant in Shibuya. Full bar with Saki, beer and crisp white wines makes for a perfect night out in this small off the beaten path gem.

Fast & Friendly service!!Also appreciate the Covid precautions they are taking... temperature checks, constantly sanitizing everything, all wait staff wears masks 100% of the time, customers wear masks when moving around the restaurant and they really space out where they seat people... there was literally no one around us...it was my second time eating indoors since March...and I felt very comfortable here.

I used to go to Bada when I lived closer to Suffern, but of all the sushi places Ive tried in the Nanuet area, Sakana is by far the most refined, fresh, and authentic.This place knows real sushi and has a nice wine and dessert selection as well. All of my meals here have been exceedingly delicious - go see for yourself!

Comment: Great sushi spot. Very nice place with a warm atmosphere and accommodating, friendly staff. I love sashimi and this place has great tuna and yellowtail tuna. Huge pieces but a bit pricey. But portions are worth it. They also have great cooked food. I recommend the teriyaki chicken.

Comment: This is my staple Rockland County Japanese restaurant. Ive tried them all because its my favorite cuisine and it never disappoints. The sushi is always incredible! If you sit at the sushi bar, they always delight with a complimentary bite-sized appetizer. I like the modern decor and casual atmosphere. If they could do one thing better it would be better wait-service on the busiest nights, but because of all the other reasons Im forced to ignore it. It continues to be my favorite.EDIT: Wait service has improved. Can I give it 6 stars now?

Comment: The special rolls were for the most part good and filling. Some of the standard stuff we ordered, like the Alaskan roll, seemed a bit off. I recommend the sho-une sake - it was delicious chilled and the cucumbers were a nice touch. Id come back again but Id have to change up the order because there was such an overwhelming selection. It was enough to make the ordering decision a challenge..

Comment: Dont listen to the Anonymous coward with the crap one star rating. I dine at Sakana a handful of times a year and order takeout from them about twice as much and they never disappoint. My friend had a surprise birthday party thrown for her in a spacious section of the restaurant I had previously never seen so its a pretty versatile venue. The food is the real reason to go here; the sushi is fresh and the food is authentic. The menu has a lot more range and the fusion part of the menu doesnt disappoint.
