You dont need to plan to spend a lot of time here as you can literally start eating sushi as soon as you sit down. Due to the prices, 1/2 price day would probably be the only day I would ever go. Still expensive, even without drinks. But all said, the service is great, the sushi train experience is awesome and it was a very clean environment.

The she so hot roll also was very good. I like hot but this wasn’t super hot but very flavorful. My friend got orange chicken and it was good. My wife got bee bop ( Korean dish) and she loved it. The waiter was very friendly and helpful

Comment: Sakana-Ya is a fun experience with good sushi. Its nice inside and the SUSHI bar is fairly large with a good amount of seating. We did the conveyor belt for lunch on this visit. Theres a solid selection of Sushi on the conveyor belt with a variety of prices marked by the color and design of the plate. It can certainly get pricey quick so Id recommend finding a half price day to attend.Service was fast as we got to sit immediately and the belt was moving. They are very quick to clean up the covers of your plates, but youll keep your plates and they will total the cost at the end of your dining.Nothing blew me away, but it was nice to try a wide variety of sushi dishes. I recommend giving it a go, I think youll be pleased that you did. Enjoy!

Comment: This place is a fun little revolving sushi bar near the heart of Syracuse. We went on a day where it was 50% off (usually its only Mondays but we got lucky on a random Saturday). My only issue is that we went between lunch and dinner so our selection wasnt as high as it could have been. It was still a cool experience looking at the plate colors and trying to figure out what was on the plate.The taste was good, but only really worth it for the discount. Otherwise loke most suhia its pretty pricey - especially when you dont know what plates are going to be available.Please note that you can custom order your own sushi from their menu and we did not do that for the sake of the ~experience~

So lucky Syracuse has one of these because they’re the best.This is the best way for beginners to see what they like and for the experienced to be able to stuff themselves. I don’t think they do it every day but they seem to always have a special depending on the day of the week. They have a menu with pictures and descriptions of each plate on the belt however they don’t cook them all, others like sashimi are made to order.The food tasted great, the environment was awesome, and the staff is helpful and friendly.

However, most of the items on the conveyor belt had the same ingredients just presented in different ways each at a different cost. It was a bit pricey even though it was half priced and I would have preferred some additional sushi roll options from their menu and not just the standard basic ingredient rolls that were provided on the belt. There is a sushi menu and a regular menu you can order from, although they wouldnt let us order some things from the regular menu while at the conveyor belt which was a bit frustrating as we had a larger party and not everyone wanted the conveyor belt. They did let us order some dinners from the menu which were all very good. We got the Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box which came with a good portion of other items. I would opt to sit in the regular dining room and order off the menu next time. The conveyor belt would be good for someone looking for a quick meal as you are ready to start eating as soon as you sit down. I would like they conveyor belt more with the basic rolls if they offered an all you can eat option for one price. The food ordered from the menu came quick and the staff was attentive and we enjoyed the atmosphere and experience of the conveyor belt.

Ive come 4 or maybe 5 times now over 3 years and each time Im left feeling very full and very satisfied.Something to note is that they often have half-off sushi days or periods. We went in February which was half off the entire month.Do not be confused by the half off menu having higher prices than you expect for half off pricing. These are actually their regular pricing and the total will come to half off when finished.The atmosphere feels inviting in the opinions of my wife and I, but do be warned there is a level of language barrier and you may find yourself asking for things to be repeated many times.Overall though, I love the place and wouldnt fault them a star for any negativity mentioned!

Not only was it a fun experience, the sushi was excellent! Also, all the sushi was half price! all plates we grabbed were between $3 and $6.50. We tried 5 different sushi rolls and had two plates of fried dumplings. Or total bill for the 3 of us was $26.Each color plate has its own price and you only pay half. This will be a staple for us moving forward.

Comment: My son has a new found love of sushi after trying it at a buffet. I decided to take him for “real” sushi. We sat at the counter and there were a couple plates of sushi on the conveyor belt, so we grabbed a squid salad to start. It was to die for! So good! Then we had spicy tuna and a California roll. The spicy tuna was very spicy. A little too much for me. We ordered a couple of other plates from the menu and nothing disappointed. A bigger variety started to come up on the belt, but we didn’t want to overdo it. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Chefs were making sushi right in front of us. It’s half price and we were definitely stuffing the last pieces down and it only came to $35 for the two of us, so not bad at all. This is a must try experience that I’m glad I got to spend with my son.

We also had the honeydew and mango bubble teas, which were a bit sweeter than those weve had elsewhere but still quite good. My boyfriend had the sake jelly shot which was certainly different: slightly fizzy, sweet-tart... interesting. Comment: So this is very good for all you can eat and half priced, plus they have sushi that isnt available every where like unagi, so this made my girlfriend very happy. I know its very Americanized to have this at a sushi restaurant, but their shrimp tempura was VERY good. Unfortunately the conveyor belt is dinner only, so we were unable to try this experience, but this is definitely something Syracuse needs to break up the food monotony. If you like sushi check it out.

It was also a spicy roll which I tend to prefer, but the flavors were all fresh and complimentary. My meal, a standard sashimi meal, was fresh, good flavor, but a bit uninspiring on the presentation (most places present the plate with more flair on it). Miso soup was also very good, but a bit less flavor than I have had with quality west coast restaurants.

Comment: My familys first conveyer belt sushi experience. Was great! The plates are color coded with a pricing guide on the counter. Just take what you want as it goes by and track your own total. The kids loved the experience and I think a lot of people were surprised to see them so enthusiastic about sushi. I would highly recommend going on the half price nights. Our 120 dollar binge only cost us 60 bucks.... You cant beat that deal!!!

Comment: One of my favorate Sushi restaurants in the area. The conveyor belt approach I have always liked since seeing it at a similar place in Boston years ago. Unlike a normal menu, when a roll or dish looks good you can simply reach out and grab it. Cost is determined by how many small plates are in front of you when your finished. The bar-stool style seating makes this little place a quick and easy stop thats a unique and enjoyable atmosphere.

Better for a quiet meal.What I LOVE about this restaurant is they ensure EVERY guest is taken care of. They offer vegetarian options and even supply patrons with GLUTEN FREE soy sauce, if needed! They are reasonable about substitutions also, so if you cannot consume gluten, they are VERY careful about this!Specials might change, but Wednesday is all you can eat for one price. On this day, yes, it can be crowded with a wait and sometimes, the staff could improve verifying that guests have everything they need. There have been some visits where a waiter never checked on us at the sushi bar and refills on water never happened. Minor inconveniences, but they are things that get remembered. My husband and I normally split the items on each plate with him eating 3 out of 4 of the items or 2 out of 3 and I eat what remains (hes much bigger than me with a much bigger appetite lol). This is also a great way to get a lot more variety of items. The selection is excellent and very interesting, creative combinations are put forth, even dessert sushis! My favorite are the tempura combos and my husband likes the one that have more raw fish in them. But they are all good! We have eaten Sushi all over the world and by that standard this may only be a 4 star but for Syracuse, a 5!
