Comment: My family stopped in for dinner last night. It was our first visit so we had no idea what to expect. As we entered we noticed a lot of people waiting for take out. Which seemed like a good sign! We stood there for a few minutes wondering whether we should seat ourselves or wait. They were busy so no problem. Finally someone greeted us and showed us to our seat. The dining area was cluttered with boxes and seemed to also be used for storage. We ordered chicken lo mein, teriyaki steak and general tso chicken. All of the food was delicious. Portions were generous. One important thing to note is that my daughters chicken lo mein had shrimp in it. Not a problem for us but could be for some people. The general tso was perfect. A little crispy and just the right amount of spice, in my opinion. The steak teriyaki wasn’t quite hot enough but the flavor of the steak paired with the rice and onions was amazing. Overall it was a good experience. We will definitely be back.

Comment: Sakura Garden has excellent sushi. We are sushi connoisseurs, eating it wherever we travel. Sakura can compete with all the sushi restaurants we’ve tried all over the country. I told my SIL and she couldn’t believe such a good sushi place was in Fairport. She tried it and now also only orders from Sakura. It’s our go-to place for sushi and we’re never disappointed.

Comment: I consider Sakura Garden to be a step beyond the typical, greasy Chinese takeout joint, but at the end of the day, its a similar format. Sure you can eat in, but I usually treat it as a takeout place. In the five years Ive been occasionally stopping in, Ive never been disappointed by a hot entree off the Chinese menu. The vegetables are fresh and theres a lot more variety than a typical Chinese place. If Im just picking up food for myself, I order an additional side of rice and get two meals out of one entree. The few times Ive sat down and eaten there, the table service has been acceptable.Im seeing a lot of other reviewers comment on the poor quality of the sushi. I have never had any issues with it myself, but I am by no means vastly experienced in sushi. Id say its definitely better than Wegmans and the couple of sushi places on West Ridge Ive been too. The joint I was in LA was better, but thats to be expected in a large, coastal city. Ive had no complaints about the rolls at Sakura Garden.Overall a solid choice for a relatively inexpensive meal. Ill continue to stop in as long as I live nearby.

The teriyaki steak is to die for. So tender and flavorful. I’ve always ordered sushi or their shrimp lo mein (ask them to spice it up a bit, yum!) but I think I am going to explore their menu more from now on.

I got the general tso tofu. Their tofu is always overcooked, but the sauce saves it. So good! And the portions are large for the price.Good food. good service. good prices. Comment: I have eaten at this location (I believe the same owners own Sakura Home), on several occasions and have always been delighted. They demonstrate a commitment to detail and high quality at reasonable prices. Their sushi of high quality and always fresh. Their service is attentive and genuine, and the restaurant is spotless.p.s. I gave up eating Chinese food years ago because it is typically smothered in sugar sauces, and greasy. However I have tried their version of Chinese selections and find their dishes to be lighter.Also, regarding the the dish of raw pounded fish referenced by a prior blogger, this is actually a proper dish, which is the fish version of beef tartar.
