Comment: Small omakase shop with excellent quality fish and peaceful atmosphere. The restaurant is chinese/japanese owned and the chefs are not classically trained in sushi making but they get the job done very well learning from online resources. The real star of the show is the quality of the fish. Best sushi ive had in nyc so far. Will need to try shinn east next.Definitely best option for less than $70 omakase.

Comment: Food: 10/10. For $68, you get excellent sushi (2 appetizers, a hand roll, one uni roll, and 9 nigiri on top). The fish they use here is much fresher and better than other omakase spots around this price point. I mean, there’s two pieces during the dinner that have uni. Caviar, A5 Wagyu, and scallops are also among some premium ingredients. The sushi itself was well made and paired with interesting but delicious additions (I liked the yuzu on top of the salmon and the sturgeon caviar on the otoro piece.)Service: 6/10. Honestly, our sushi chef was amazing. He even noticed that I was left-handed, so started to place the ginger on the right side of the plate and each piece of sushi on the left. But the reason for a 6/10 is the waitress we had, as well as the weird upsell in the middle of our dinner. They walk around with an iPad halfway through dinner and try convincing you to buy extra pieces of sushi, which are NOT cheap (a hand roll is almost $20). After shoving the iPad between my and my girlfriend’s shoulder, we politely told her we were not going to purchase any of the additional items. Instead of nicely nodding or something, she very disappointingly muttered “Okay.” She seemed very annoyed that we didn’t add any items. As a service worker once myself, the most important part of service is to be cheerful, informative, and make the customer comfortable. Our waitress had an unfortunately grim face throughout service. I did cash tip directly to her, so I hope this experience was just due to a bad day or something.Atmosphere: 9/10. Brightly lit, small restaurant. Well designed. Great crowd in there usually as well. Only complaint is that it does get a bit crowded at the bar, but I understand that they probably have to accommodate as many that can fit.

Comment: This was my first omakase experience and I’d absolutely go back. I was showing my friend around the city for his first time in New York. It was a frigid and windy day, and all of a sudden we walk by the sign that was outside. Little did we know what we stumbled upon.We were quickly relaxed with the quaint and warm atmosphere. 12 dishes and 2 sake bottles later had us feeling incredible. Best $65 I’ve ever spent, would absolutely go back the next time I’m in the city.I can’t remember our chef but he was very talented and kind. Thank you again.

The ingredients were fresh, chefs and staff were extremely friendly, and each dish was served with delicacy and creativity. Best of all, the price was very reasonable. I recommend giving combinations of scallop, toro, ebi, and/or uni a shot. No complaints here; I’m not a local, but I will be back!

The Chefs are preparing everything in front of you. The staff are very quick, attentive, and fun!They have BYOB! Even though I love my sushi with a cup of Genmaicha. You can bring a bottle of sake to enjoy!1 hour seating but it was enough fo us.You have two options either 17 course($100) or 12 course ($65). I tried 12 course when I was visiting here for the first time but then I have been ordering 17 course every time I go. Although the pieces are on the smaller size but after a good 17 pieces omakase menu, we felt pretty good end of the evening. Additional item can be added on after the full course. Comment: Way better than expected! To be honest I didn’t expect much but it turned out to be great. Ingredients were fresh and rice temperature, amount of rice-fish ratio was good. Aesthetically pleasing and price was very reasonable. Reservations were completely full when we got there and also 1 hour seating limit which makes everything efficient with high turn over. One thing I noticed was the texture of the scallop was different from other restaurants. It was slightly harder than other ones I tried and I loved it. Not a huge fan of scallop but this one was perfect. Also the caviar they used wasn’t as salty so it did’t hurt the taste of original ingredients which was great. Sometimes restaurants over do it and the taste is not balanced and can come out a little salty especially when using caviar and ikura but this place knows what they’re doing and who they’re serving. Fast and efficient and they focus on the food.

Comment: We decided to try the $100 Omakase which is 17 pieces Nigiri. There was about three sushi chef who was preparing the nigiris. They were very quick. Within a minute, they have set the oyster and Madai on the plate already. After we were done eating, they begin the serve the next nigiri. They did a good job in telling us what the fish was and different types of uni. Other than that, we didn’t get much communication with the chef because it just look like they were very busy making the nigiri. Our server did come often to check on our drink and to refill them. We felt like we were rushed to finish our food because $100 Omakase 17 pieces was the serving at the same pace as $65 Omakase 12 pieces. At the end we order their special menu item as a add on; I haven’t had a chance to eat that and our server came to ask if we can pay first. I didn’t want to be rude so we decide to pay and quickly eat that special menu item. We notice when we were finishing our food, there was people already waiting to seat down. That’s probably why our server rush us to pay so we can leave for the next group to start. I think the experience could be better if they didn’t rush us in serving the food and telling us to pay. One hour is probably too short. The nigiri was awesome though. I loved every single nigiri especially Shima Aji and Kin Medai.

Comment: Shiki Omakase was an excellent experience for the ideal price.The menu seems to change fairly often, so youll find out what youll be eating the day of when you walk up to the location. Reservations are required, so keep that in mind.Shiki is BYOB, but they also bring by happy water as you eat.Everything in my meal was incredible. Ive never tasted such unique flavor combinations. Fish was incredibly fresh and presentation was gorgeous. Theres a small break in between courses so you can savor the flavor.Near the end of the meal you have the option to select something from their special menu with an upcharge starting at $12. Its pretty worthwhile because what you get is quite large and has such a unique flavor, I dont regret paying a bit more.I was personally full after all 12 courses, but I can see someone still being hungry after the fact. Omakase is meant to be an experience, and Shiki certainly does that.

It’s a more intimate setting, but they do separate parties by one bar stool. Sake is included in the price and the wait staff was phenomenal. You can tell the chefs enjoy what they do and it’s fun to watch while talking with friends and family. It’s a place I will be returning to. Comment: Worth your time and money.It’s good. Well executed. Upon entry, we were quickly seated. We brought a bottle of wine and they corked it as we relax into our hour omakase session. The restaurant was clean and simply decorated. The music level kept to a minimum.The course was impeccable. Starting off with oysters was a nice touch. The sequence of nigiris served was well paced. We had time to enjoy each piece and was able to enjoy our wine as the chef prepared the next piece.Each piece was delicious and always had you salivating for more. I did think the pieces were generally smaller than other omakase places I’ve been to at the same price range.Towards the end they’ll present you with add ons. This was brought out and presented on an iPad and the waitress waited for your selection. I thought this was a little too much pressure and would had been better presented if they left me with a paper menu that I could digest and make my decisions.Throughout the meal, they did serve us “happy water” aka sake which was a nice bonus we didn’t expect. Overall, I would recommend as I can see the passion in the head chef and will expect him to continue to hone his craft and improve the omakase experience.

Comment: I walked past this place one evening and was struck by how cute and intimate it was. When I saw all the positive reviews online, I was skeptical but still booked a reservation.Well - I went in today and was blown away. Jacky is a master sushi chef, the sushi was all incredibly well prepared (my favorite was the wagyu with uni!!), and the service was great!Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to again and again.

Comment: W-O-W… this is a MUST… Incredible Omakase experience as good as any weve ever had in NYC or Japan and at a very low price (105$ pp after drinks, added special, tax and tip). Great relaxed atmosphere and perfect service.

Each dish is carefully crafted by the chefs in front of you, and they take the time to explain each dish.What blew me away was how delicious every course was in their own unique way, and the high quality ingredients they use (truffle shavings, caviar, Wagyu beef).For the price, you get above and beyond. $65 for 12 courses, for roughly one hour. You can also BYOB!They are a new restaurant, so don’t let the lack of reviews repel you and you’re in for one of the best meals you’ve ever had.

Comment: My friends and I love a good (and reasonably priced omakase - this one was $65) and one of them suggested Shiki, which is relatively new. We made ressos on a Friday night for 6:30. I wasnt sure what to expect since there werent many reviews at the time. I thought it was just a Japanese restaurant with an omakase but this place is actually legit. They only have sushi bar seating (maybe about 15 people?).Our courses for the night were:1. Kumamoto oyster2. Red snapper3. Hamachi yellowtail4. Salmon5. Bluefin tuna with wasabi leaf6. Shima aji7. Ebi with finger lime8. O toro9. Uni10. Albacore tuna11. Seared wagyu and uni12. EelMy favorites were the hamachi yellowtail, bluefin tuna, o toro, uni, and the seared wagyu and uni.They did not have a drink menu as of yet, but they offered us happy drink, which was sake and they always kept our glasses filled, so pretty much complimentary sake to complement your omakase, which is unheard of.Would love to come back and see what other pieces they have!

I was 20 min late because my uber went to the wrong address, and they still sat me downthey also allowed a walk-in that was only able to dine for 30 min and had substitution requeststhe food itself was very worth, for only $65, their omakase tasted like it shouldve been > $1005/5 would eat here again

Comment: Hands down best lunch Omakase I had in Manhattan. Unassuming atmosphere gives it bonus points for me, personally. Crazy fresh fish imported directly from Japan & superb service. Clean, kind, precise. Beautiful. Zero comments otherwise. It was perfect. Will beback.
