Comment: The omakase was pretty good - they had a few interesting pieces. The Wagyu and the Sable fish were my favorites. It was also great that they do BYOB! That being said, I do think there were few misses:1) I think they pressed their rice a little too hard. While it was nice that the sushi didnt fall apart when I picked it up, the rice could have been slightly fluffier2) The Otoro (fatty blue fin tuna) was too fatty compared to other Otoros Ive had.3) Occasionally they used a bit too much wasabi (though Im sure if I had mentioned it to the chef he would have adjusted it)

I chose to try it out at their soft opening because it was close to my TCG store and it was a very enjoyable and delectable omakase experience. To be completely honest, this isnt a conventional omakase restaurant in Japan. But the fish is flavorful and fresh, matching the robust spices. The atmosphere was fantastic, and our sushi chef engaged with us and made the experience fantastic. We chose the less expensive of the two omakase for me and my co-worker ($69 per person - 20% discount so $55.20) (excellent value) Total is 12 pcs with a hand roll. Worth Trying at least once.——-3rd time here. Quality and everything remains tops notch. They are even better nowTop notch chef in NYC, chef Liam

Comment: Personally one of the best sushi omakase in NYC considering taste/experience/price efficiency all together.-Rice had perfect texture, ratio between rice and seafood was spot on, seafoods were so pleasantly fresh with some non-traditional intriguing idea like salmon with foie gras.-It completely shattered stereotype I had that good sushi omakase must be served by Japanese chefs. It was pleasant surprise to see uni served in nigiri, which should require exceptional technique given how soft uni is.-Chefs and staffs were also nicely accommodating my party. Great people, awesome experience.-For what was offered overall, I felt like the price was also very well reasonable; omakase course + two a la carte was $120 (tip tax included). It can easily go above that price tag if other omakase places.Absolutely coming back again, no doubt. FYI, they don’t have alcohol license and it’s byob. There are deli and liquor store nearby (within couple blocks) so do make sure to grab one or two if you usually enjoy sushi with some drinks.개인적으론 맛/가성비/분위기 다 합쳐서 따졌을때 뉴욕내 최고의 스시 오마카세 중에 한군데라고 생각합니다.

The room is clean and intimate. A total of 7-8 persons seating transports you right to the streets of Japan. The service is attentive but not overbearing. Comment: For the price, its hard to beat. With the byo option its even better. One significant issue we brought up involved the caring of the sake we brought. We brought a huge bottle, shared with the owner and staff as well as other patrons. Other byo omakase restaurants appreciated keeping the beverage cold. This wasnt a concern here. Even after we brought it up. Room temp sake shouldnt be. It could have been worse if the plates werent coming so fast and furious. We booked the last seating got seated about 15 minutes late and stayed longer. The scallop was amazing. The mackerel was very mild. The other plates were very good. We did order 2 adventurous rolls which werent as described. Certainly not fast food quality, but a fast experience.

Both were very hospitable and I wanted to give a special shout to chef Ben Yu who made the night very special. The ambience was intimate and sushi were fresh - would absolutely recommend. Also they plan to stay BYOB even after getting a liquor license, but no bottle fee for now. Would suggest Astor Wines (13 min walk) to get saké beforehand - and pour one out for your chef too!

Comment: We chose this restaurant for my wifes birthday supper. Its been difficult to find a good sushi restaurant in NYC that serves fresh fish recently. However, this location did not disappoint. The omakase they offer is a condensed version that serves 13 pieces of sushi, with a la carte options if you require more. We tried both and were happy with the results. The Hokkaido uni was sweet and delicious, and the o-toro was also excellent. Everything was well-balanced, and the soy sauce in the rice wasnt overbearing. Everything else, including the scallops, shrimp, and albacore, tasted fresh.The omakase is extremely reasonably priced, and we plan to return.

Comment: Shinzo Omakase, which costs $69, has 13 courses. Chef Leos inexpensive and high-quality menu. What could easily be $120 is such a good deal that its difficult to find many better ones in the entire city. Truffle salmon, Japanese hamachi, and Hokkaido scallop are all excellent choices. Chef also stated that the menu changes on a regular basis, so expect something different. They did let me stay for longer than 1 Hours while I enjoy my drinks with my friends, (9:00PM Section can go longer)

Comment: Never had a Omakase before and decided to give it a try. Very satisfy with the experience here! High quality food, great atmosphere, and the staffs are very friendly. Having all the high quality and the best to me is Salmon and shrimp, the best I ever had. Very creamy and tasty, definitely want to eat it again. Highly recommend!

Comment: Have had omakase all over NYC. Absolutely the best bang for your buck. Freshest food around and a must try. No need to settle for subpar spots in the neighborhood, come to Shinzo.
