Comment: Loved all the extra large rolls!! Miso soup spot on, a friend had the clam soup said that was also delicious! I had fantastic roll and yummy yummy roll both I would eat again and again! Theres only one server so it takes some time but the food is fantastic! You only need one or two rolls to fill you up they are so large! Definitely a lot bigger than what youd find at the Wegmans sushi takeout. I had a second friend have the dumplings, said he gets them all the time and they are always good. Do not go if you are in a rush. Or just do the takeout! But if you have the time its totally worth sitting down for.

Comment: Best Sushi in Greece!Multiple trips now, and this place continues to be one of our favorite places to go for Sushi in Rochester. Food continues to be very fresh and delicious. Portion sizes have shrunk slightly over the past few years but still very appropriate. Staff are always great and accommodating. Restaurant has a very relaxed atmosphere, perfect for date nights.If youre looking for Sushi, I highly recommend this place!

Comment: We found this place after the nearby place became so crowded, loud and chaotic, we couldnt stand it anymore. I would say we got very lucky. We have only been there for dinners, and the entire atmosphere is calm and peaceful. What a pleasant change! No feeling rushed, no drama, no noise. Just pleasant, calm and relaxing music that isnt blasting.We have never had anything we didnt enjoy thoroughly. The staff are polite, friendly and very efficient. The menu is certainly extensive enough for our tastes. They serve a Hibachi Soup which is simple, clean and perfect on a cold night. I could use that almost every day. There is also a salad dressing which is unique to them AFAIK, and has a bright, clean taste. I could have that every day as well.My only complaint is that we live 30 minutes away.

Comment: Ive been going to Sumo for lunch and dinners for a few years now. This is this is my favorite sushi place!They have unmatched hospitality. The sushi isnt the greatest in the world but it is the most consistent Ive had and way above the normal standard. Every roll Ive tried is great and the specialty rolls are even better.Highly recommend Sumo for any occasion. The staff is very polite and Ive never had an issue with phone orders or in-person dining over the past 5 years Ive visited. The food comes out in a timely fashion and the price is just right. Amazing place for sushi and the occasion hibachi dish!

Comment: I had a lunch special chirashi, costing around 15 without tax. I was still hungry after eating all in the box. Just for your reference that I cannot eat all for shema’s lunch spicy chirashi. Fish is very fresh though, would be better if they consider giving a bit more rice...Kind reminder: double check the price if you want to order sumo from ubereats. Ubereats charge merchant around 30% so it is normal you see ubereats price higher than normal menu price. Usually the price increase is lower than 30%, But some items for this restaurant in ubereats are 40% higher... Totally unreasonable. This is still true when I wrote the review, not sure if it will change in the future.

Comment: It is a tradition to take my niece here for birthday sushi each January. We love this place because the decor is cool, the location is close and convenient, and the menu is extensive. We dont make reservations and we have never had a wait for a Saturday afternoon. The service is quick and polite. We enjoyed a variety of sushi rolls and the complimentary miso soup, refreshing salad with delicious ginger dressing, and an order of spring rolls. My niece loves to end the day with birthday tempura ice cream covered with whipped cream and chocolaty syrup. There are plenty of options also for folks that are not into sushi, or only prefer to eat cooked sushi or veggie sushi rolls. I wish we could do more often to try more things on the menu!

Comment: Been twice. Great both times. Sushi is excellent, high quality. Tastes fresh. Presentation of the food is great. Prices are reasonable. Im not too adventurous but I tried the octopus and eel and they were both tasty. I like to eat early so it was not crowded when I went. Service is great, of course. The exterior location is convenient but not amazing (its next to a Subway). Inside, however, it is quite lovely. They have created a great interior atmosphere. My friend, who has been to Japan, thought it was a great place, too. Ill be back soon, Im sure.

Comment: Best sushi weve found in the area, hands down. Super fresh fish, great portions and fair prices. They also have great tempura and hibachi. And the tuna dumpling appetizer is not to be missed - two to an order, so I would recommend at least one order per person...theyre that good! Even the house salad and soup are good! And we havent ever had to wait on a table.

Comment: Excellent in nearly every way. Sounds like an exaggeration, but it is not.My wife and I were on our anniversary, and we passed this place thinking Sumo? really? We wanted romantic, so we instead went to Kobe. That was a fail: terrible wait, terribly loud. We gave up and went to SoGo in the mall. Fail number two: immediately seated, but no one waited on us in over 10 minutes (not even water) and the restrooms were missing TP and paper towel. So we decided to go to Sumo. We were happy from start to finish. Delicious, hot appetizers. Balanced, sweet cocktails. My wife had some of the best, refreshing sushi shes ever had (creamy crispy roll); my hibachi steak dinner was grilled to flavorful perfection (med rare). To top it all off, the place was relatively quiet (at around half-capacity), and the staff was prompt and exceedingly courteous.They didnt know it was our anniversary, but they made us feel like we were special. They deserve 5 out of 5.

Comment: Pleasantly surprised. Came in late (9pm) and they were not busy. However, our waitress still had a great attitude, was attentive and seemed generally happy we were there! Served us all the way up to closing time. Sushi was fresh, the correct temperature and tasted great! Will definitely be back.

Comment: Very good food! Besides us there were only three other people there but we did go late afternoon before dinner. Nice ambience! I was expecting a hibachi grill to sit at but there wasnt one. I still would go back again!

Comment: After traveling to Japan two years ago, my husband and I struggled to find a place in Rochester that served sushi we could appreciate. SUMO is by far the best sushi we have had in the area. They offer creative rolls, but also have high quality sashimi that is served at the right temperature! Not on ice! Highly recommend this restaurant.

Comment: Really a 4.5 but dont have that capability. Fried rice was lackluster, but really that was it, had Fantastic Roll, Steak Hibachi, Scallop and Shrimp Hibachi and they were definitely all really good. Only issue was fried rice needed to be mixed to be good.

Comment: First time visiting this Japanese restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. Came here for lunch and had the hibachi chicken and steak dish. I thought the process were a little high, but the quality more than made up for it. Excellent option. Will come back to try sushi.

Comment: My husband and I discovered this place a few months ago. We wish we would have discovered this place sooner, but it is hard to see right next to Subways huge sign. The atmosphere is very nice and the food is great too. My husband is a huge sushi fan and he thinks the sushi quality is pretty good. We will definitely be going back to this place for more!

Comment: Excellent service. The waitress took the time to let us know that the uni was very fresh that night. I love uni so I was excited to order some- she was right​- the uni was really good!The hot tea is a nice toasted rice style green tea-smoky and flavorful. The house salad dressing is a bit heavy on the mayo for my taste but I did finish it all so...To top it off, we got a free mini dessert of a green tea mochi ice cream with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. The food came quickly and was quality freshness. We had a really good experience for a tiny place in the middle of a strip mall!

Comment: Pros: The sushi was glorious (we had king roll and yummy yummy roll), they brought our food in very fast.Cons: We werent able to see the hibachi food being prepared, as it seemed like in the pictures.The tempura was well cooked but was kind of tasteless.The service was not bad, but wasnt awesome either. Comment: The food was excellent, we were a little disheartened to see the food was not cooked table side, but so pleased that we stayed. The food was amazing. I got the hibachi dinner, filet mignon. The soup and salad was just as amazing. The servers were very friendly and accommodating to the child in our small group. Our server used a rubber band and the wrapper from the chop sticks to hook them together for the 3 year old and she was excited and able to use them. She also took her over to feed the fish at the end of the meal when she was beginning to get restless. 5 stars, and cannot wait to go back again.

Comment: Visited this place the day after they opened as my girlfriend loves sushi. Weve visited many sushi places throughout the city and now we have an excellent choice here for us in Greece. The place itself is gorgeous, you would never expect it to look the way it does from the outside. Its hidden in a plaza on west ridge so I hope they get passerby traffics attention. Food and drinks are both amazing. The manager Cindy and owner Ricky, personally visited us and thanked us for coming. Ill be back likely once a week...
