We got: miso soup (red & white), agedashi, spicy karage, and sushi sashimi platter for 2.Everything was delicious, red miso soup was better than the white, agedashi was A+, and the platter was also great too. The spicy karage was a bit burnt, and slightly underwhelming.

Matcha mille crepe is definitely the must-try.Everything we ordered was delicious,- tofu steak was tender and flavorful- nabeyaki udon in iron pot was super comforting and the udon was cooked to perfect doneness- one of my favorites was unatanma. Keto lovers dream sushi! The balance between sweet tender tamagoyaki, creamy cheese, melt-in-your-mouth eel, wrapped in nori and paper thin sliced radish- sashimi was fresh and tastyFor the portion as reference, we ordered slightly more than enough for two.Other things we would like to try next time would be the sushi sashimi combination (the nagitoro roll looks very appetizing), especially the big maki - taxi driver, spider women.

Comment: Nice Japanese sushi restaurant that serves movie-inspired special maki. Would recommend trying Spider Woman, which has soft shell crab. For appetizers, consider getting the agedashi, which is deep fried tofu with light broth. If you are hungry, would recommend getting one of the rice bowl dishes (donburi), but this is only available from 5-7pm. The tori katsudon is really nice and filling. A plated version is also available, but minus the egg.

Comment: Fish quality was excellent. I just wish the specialty roll sizes werent all so large. Impossible to fit in ones mouth with one bite and taking multiple bites causes it to fall apart, as well as the fact that the fillings arent well distributed so one bite is all fish and another all avocado.

The atmosphere is the weak link in the restaurant since everything else is so great. There are some cheaper options with specials, such as a lunch meal, but also more expensive options you can order. Their food is something that you got to try, the chef makes sure to keep you guessing whats coming next, like Chilean sea bass gyōza? Come on guys. Comment: Walking by this restaurant I noticed they offered a lunch special so I had to give it a try. So glad I did! The lunch special is a remarkable deal. The salad and miso soup was the perfect starter. Followed with tempura tofu in a fish sauce. Finally the don chicken katsu and egg over rice made me truly understand what its like having a traditional Japanese meal. With that said, I didnt even get to try their sushi or other fish entrees. I have to come back for dinner.

Comment: Takahaci is a beautiful little gem in the neighbourhood. The atmosphere was calm and zen and the decor was amazing. I highly recommend the specials. I got the sashimi so platter with toro, scallops and striped jack(?) which were all super fresh and delicious. The toro melted in my moth and the scallops had such incredible texture and flavour. I also ordered the Superman till which was HUGE but delicious and the miso soup which was one of the best miso soups I ever had. The flavour was light and complex with some shiitake and orange hints and it was super fresh. We also ordered the cloudy sake which was a perfect light paring with everything! Only thing we didn’t like was the shabu shabu salad which was a bit dry but they were great with dealing with that.

Comment: Went out for sushi on a whim and it was an amazing experience. Ocean’s 13 was delicious with perfect blend of fish, rice, and toppings. A bit pricy but worth a try. Karage chicken was juicy, the breading was flavorful, and perfect amount of tangy to serve as an appetizer. Spicy tuna roll was great as well but now let’s talk about the star of the show- Seared Salmon. I have been to quite a few sushi places in the city and not many have seared salmon, actually this was the first one i found in a year. So, seared salmon lovers, this place is you sanctuary. I am definitely going back for some seared salmon. I don’t remember the price, didn’t even check because they were that good! If you end up going, ping me with the price 😂

Comment: Note: I can only speak for the takeout experience. Overall I had a good experience. The sashimi was fresh, and the pumpkin tempura did not disappoint. The only thing I didnt care for was the sauteed mushrooms. Normally I love mushrooms, but even though the dish included a variety of mushrooms they all tasted the same and had the same soggy texture. This might have been as a result of being packaged for takeout, but the result wasnt something I would order again. Otherwise everything went smoothly.

Comment: Not sure what took us so long to check out this place since it is right in our hood, but I am thankful that we did. A lovely spot. I was in the mood for tempura and it could not have been more light, non-greasy, and delicious. My husband had salmon which he found a tad over cooked, but he also had these delicious steamed potatoes and hijiki so I call it a win. The service was spot on, just enough attention without being over bearing. Cant wait to go back for sushi.

In addition they had a tofu fried soup and a noodle dish. All very good and for the price $19 was incredibly reasonable. Perfect portion sizes too as you will leave not hungry, but also not full. This coming from a guy who eats like a vacuum!

I did not enjoy anything except for their rolls. We had some good luck with deserts, but not always. The rolls are more adventurous and offer a welcome departure from the traditional special rolls found on every other NYC sushi menu. Their appetizers, namely the dumplings (both varieties) are also excellent. Definitely worth a visit if youre looking to dine with the locals.

Comment: I live in TriBeCa, and this is one of my top picks in the area. IMHO, the sushi is better than Nobu (not hard to believe, I know). Its not a great atmosphere, so delivery is a great option.
