I had the Japanese Style Sushi meal which came with 9 beautiful and intoxicating pieces of high quality sushi, chefs choice! I even started with the mouth watering grilled Himachi Kama which was totally to die for. The good news is… Once you eat here you will feel full and satiated all night long! You won’t want a second meal later. Very wonderful and homey experience! The prices are worth every bite and reasonable, I’m totally coming back!

Comment: Stopped in hoping to get some ramen, but they don’t offer it on Mondays. Went with the udon noodle soup, a few apps, and a sushi roll. It was great and will be back to try the ramen. The service was amazing and very welcoming. Great find while on that side of Long Island

Our experience and food was top notch and exceeded our expectation. The service was fantastic. The waitress so very sensitive to us and provided a second to none service. The food was the very best Japanese food weve ever had. The chef personally came to our table and served us. It was such a special touch to our experience. We were deeply moved by their hospitality. This restaurant gives a very cozy vibe but not cramped. We ordered a couple rolls, some regular suhi, and miso soup. DELICIOUS!! I’ve never eaten my sushi rolls so fast. The food came very quick and it was very flavorful. I will definitely return here! Also seems like a smaller maybe family owned business and it’s really important to support those. Comment: Any time that I want a reminder of how real sushi is supposed to be served and how it’s supposed to taste, I find myself at Takumi. The owner Chef Yuki is a fine artist and serves the most authentic sushi and sashimi on Long Island. The fish is always fresh and delicious, but as any good sushi chef will tell you the most important component is the rice and at Takumi the rice is always perfect.Takumi is a small family run restaurant in Commack. The service is always personal and they strive to make sure you leave happy. The clientele is mostly “regulars” that Chef Yuki has been feeding in Commack for 20 years (back to the days where he trained under Chef Shiro Damon at Kurofune - in the days when that restaurant was outstanding. Not that good anymore). Takumi is not inexpensive. It will cost you a little more than other sushi spots, but it’s well worth the cost. Also, this is not a place where you will find dozens of “specialty rolls”. Yuki is a traditionalist so maguro, yellowtail, salmon, ika, and other nigiri choices are the best way to go.I have been a customer since the restaurant opened (I followed Chef Yuki from Kurofune) and have never had a bad meal. If you love authentic japanese food, run to Takumi!

Comment: In an area flooded by sushi restaurants its difficult to stand out but Takumi manages to do just that. The food is always spectacular and much closer to authentic Japanese food than some of the restaurants being run by Korean or Chinese owners. The husband and wife team of Yuki and Kyumi make a great pair. Yuki has over twenty five years of experience behind the bar while Kyumi tends the floor. They are warm, and friendly with everyone who comes in maintaining first name basis relationship with most customers. They are now offering a sake flight for thirty bucks which is a great deal. Highly recommend that and Yukis pizza. Only drawback for this place is its absolutely awful location. Once found though youll have a hard time going to one of the other ten thousand sushi places.
