We didn’t have reservations but managed to get seated immediately upon their 5:30 opening, avoiding any wait despite a growing line.The menu was a treasure trove, starting with oysters. We tried both types offered, with the non-Island Creek variety standing out for its sweeter, meatier taste, enhanced by a delightful yuzu umami vinaigrette.The wagyu carpaccio (coulotte) was okay, though it made me realize that thinly sliced raw beef isn’t really my thing. The curry+cheese wings, on the other hand, were a hit – perfectly flavored without being too intense.The grilled hamachi was as expected, but the ramen selections were where this place truly shined. We had the Tonchin Classic Tokyo Tonkotsu Ramen, the Smoked Dashi Ramen with its unique smokiness, and the Spicy Goma Tsukemen, which was mildly spicy. The texture of their ramen noodles was exceptional – curly and springy, just how good ramen should be!We wrapped up with the Tokyo Banana dessert, an amazing treat that wasn’t overly sweet and reminded me of the authentic Tokyo Banana snack.The service was fast and efficient, making our dining experience smooth and enjoyable. While not everything was to my personal taste, the overall quality and variety of the dishes were impressive. A must-visit for ramen lovers and those looking for a taste of Japanese cuisine with a twist!

Comment: Fantastic food and service!The rice balls were more traditional in the sense that they werent dripping in flavor. Each part of it had flavor but combined, it was more subtle. Everyone has their own flavor preferences though.Their spicy ramen was phenomenal. The broth had great depths of flavor but wasnt too heavy. Their noodles were freshly made and were thick enough to retain the broths flavor but not too thick that it felt like udon. I always judge a ramen place for their eggs. Here, it was a perfectly soft boiled marinated egg that complimented the dish.I tried my first high ball here. I dont have a reference point but I could tell they made an effort by the fresh lemon. Their fresh ginger ale was to die for. A fantastic combination with their food and fantastic for the stomach after a heavy meal.The staff was extremely kind and helpful, even sneaking me an extra candied ginger that garnished their ginger ale and was extremely delicious.If youre looking for a fantastic ramen shop I would highly recommend this. There was seating that had a date atmosphere in the front of the restaurant and an open concept in the back for friends and family. Would recommend!

The dessert stole the show this time though! I dont know if this is just new or exclusive to the Brooklyn restaurant but the Tokyo Banana is incredible. Very stylish and equally delicious!

I usually shy away from the tonkotsu because they are too heavy for me and I need to be in the mood for it.However Tonchins is not overbearingly heavy nor is it salty. You can drink the broth comfortably after youre done with the noodles.I love ramen and I never get extra noodles for the places that I like because I dont want to get tired of it. I like to be at the satisfied state but slightly wanting more.No, I didnt get kaedama here 🤗

Comment: My friend and I went here last night. We had a wonderful time. The restaurant is beautiful and has a relaxing yet romantic vibe to it. The Classic Tonkotsu Ramen was delicious! I had a wonderful orange wine to pair with it. Next time, I want to try their mango shaved ice and banana pudding. The staff was very friendly and just amazing service. I recommend people to go here for some delicious food.

Comment: Overall pretty good ramen. We got the spicy tantan ramen and vegan miso ginger ramen. The noodles were nice and chewy and the broth was flavorful. The ramen is a little bit on the pricier end but that might have to do with the fact that the midtown one is Michelin rated. We also shared the mango shaved ice. By the time we ordered dessert it got super busy and we waited quite some time for the dessert. There were bits of mango that was pretty fresh and other bits that were not. Im not sure mango is season so that would explain it.I would say this would be a good date spot but it got so loud later on I could barely hear my friend

Comment: We were so courious about how Tonchin presents Pizza x Ramen with LEO so we decided to give it a try today.I personally love their salad which was refreshing and appetizing.Reviews said it’s one of the must-tries but we were a little disappointed since the taste of curry is not that rich as smell. Moreover, our chicken wings were dry inside.The Pizza Ramen was the best tonight. The ramen tasted exactly like pizza which was amazingly delicious. We enjoyed the rich and creamy tomato sauce broth with appetizing smell of basil. I love to eat the dough stick dipping with broth.

We had reservations for a Wednesday evening at 7:30pm, got there a little early and the process was very smooth.Upon being seated we got the food menu as well as the extensive wine menu (bonus)!The waiter was able to answer all of my questions and the water was continuously refilled in a timely manner. (Only criticism I would have, is that the staff / waiters should always ask if anyone in the party has any dietary restrictions or allergies)The decor and ambiance were the highlight of the experience for me.Though the food was good, I’ve had better ramen in the city. I will have to come back and try more options next time.I ordered the Tan Tan Ramen. I did like how it wasn’t too spicy. The bits of nuts and chili ground meat at the bottom of the bowl complimented the broth really well.The drinks were great, even the non alcoholic green lemonade blew me away. Personally not a fan of how the chashu was presented but the broth was flavorful with depth to provide that allowed the noodles to carry it into my mouth.The desserts were really good as well. The banana pudding reminded me of magnolias but not as sweet with some graham crackers pieces included, a nice crunch. The shaved green tea ice with cream was also refreshing, but could have used a bit more red beans.Overall great experience at a reasonable price point!

This location has similar vibes and the food is just as good. The menu here is smaller, but it has all the necessities. Their classic ramen is just as delicious and I would recommend trying the shitake hummus from their bites section.Overall it was enjoyable and clean. The only thing i did not like was how dim it was and how loud the music was playing. It seemed like everyone had to yell to be able to have a conversation.

We waited and a bit over hour and half but got a nice table inside due to a cancelation.We ordered the wagyu coulotte and it was amazing. Very flavorful and light. Boyfriend ordered the classic tonkotsu and was superb. I ordered the smoked dashi and you can really taste the dashi in the broth. It was really rich! For dessert we had the soba Panna cotta and it was delicious. Not too sweet, had a nice crunch from the soba, creamy and just decadent. Overall, the wait is well worth it. Only bad thing was the place was very loud!

The tonkotsu broth is not too greasy and without any weird ingredients. The menma and chasu are perfectly balanced in the whole ramen. Definitely would recommend!

Comment: The traditional way, or the best way, to have ramen is to stand without waiting.I know it’s a hit and especially on the weekend, but it’s no way to eat ramen with a long wait.Thankfully, Tonchin provides stand table for the customers to get drinks, or even food, when they wait for table to be seated.I get Dashi ramen this time and chicken skewer, beef carpaccio, and a hot sauce(really spicy, not kidding).Dashi and clam ramen is great but rich, not for everyone but I’m ok, and chicken skewer is great. I’d get 5 skewers only for the next visit.The only problem is the wait for ramen too long, although we do order some appetizers, I’ve finished 2 beer before the ramen comes.Draft Sapporo is a highlight, totally different from those in Japanese markets, strongly recommend!

Comment: Been here a few times and is a good place for ramen! Their classic tonkotsu ramen is done well, but other noodles such as the tan tan ramen are worth a try too. Would definitely recommend getting the banana pudding and trying the kakigori. The banana pudding was not too sweet and very light, and loved the addition of cream for kakigori with very sweet fruits.

Very aesthetic and flavourful appetizers, especially the wings & tartare, that a complimented by refreshing and simple cocktails featuring some fine imported Japanese spirits. The ramen, by all accounts, is best/my favorite thing on this menu. The spicy tan tan is phenomenal, but if your someone with a tree nut allergy- their classic is just as good and you can always ask for the spicy sauce to give it a kick. To top it all off, Tonchin has a lovely staff that is very convivial and very accommodating. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for some authentic Japanese cuisine.

The ramen was delicious as ever and the staff were so kind — especially Dylan (sorry if I misspelled this) and the receptionist with a broken arm 😬 who took care of me. I arrived an hour early but he was happy to let me wait at a table!The Brooklyn location is spacious and beautiful — perfect for a date night 🥰 As a Japanese living in NYC I always appreciate their ramen, which is creative but still very authentic! The tebasaki wings were good as well if you like a hint of spice. It was our first time there so we tried the classic Tokyo ramen (which our host recommended) and it did not disappoint. Definitely will be back to try the spicy tan tan. Dessert was the perfect finisher; not too heavy at all but still great flavors. We had the mango shaved ice (massive!) and panna cotta. Reservations are highly recommended.We had the 2 appetizers - coulotte and shiitake mushroom ones - both were great but the latter was AMAZING. We had the original salad, the shiitake spread, the potato, the wagyu yakitori, the tebasaki wing, and then we split the classic tonchin ramen and the spicy tan tan ramen. Everything was amazing. However, the real heroes of the night were the tebasaki wing and the classic ramen. Fried to perfection, the chicken wing exploded with flavor and was easily the best appetizer anywhere in Brooklyn. The classic ramen broth is a thing of beauty. We could eat that ramen seven days a week. Fantastic meal and wonderful dining experience!

Comment: Tonchin in midtown has been one my top ramen spots for years, so when I’ve heard about another location opening in Williamsburg I could barely hold my excitement.Little did I know that it’ll blow my expectations out of the water.Everything was simply above and beyond. The food is delicious. Not just ramen — we’ve tried their wagyu carpaccio, yakitori, and white fish tartare. If I had to find something to improve it’s that some beef pieces were a bit tough. The meatballs on both skewers were incredible. The white tartare melted in my mouth exploding with flavors perfectly balanced in all the right places. Carpaccio was paired with (marinated?) chives and mustardy sauce. I wanted to lick the plate after every appetizer.The smoked dashi ramen didn’t disappoint either with its ridiculously flavorful broth and meaty pieces of menma that felt like they were just charred over an open fire.I also loved how well-done everything felt besides food — the decor is very organic; think Muji, with its soft colored pastel ceramic plates, wood accents and diffused lights. As if this wasn’t enough, our waiter came with a charming British accent and was attentive and just the right amount of helpful, the dishes came out fast and without any hiccups, the sake recommendation was on point.The price point is a bit high and I wish they served cocktails. It also gets pretty loud. Other than that, a must visit when in the area.
