Comment: Trad Room has been my regular date night spot with my boyfriend for the last 2 years or so! They have really great food - definitely go for the Nanban chicken, the spicy salmon bowl (off menu now, but they’ve made it every time I’ve ordered since!), and the STA bowl. The vibe is also fantastic. You can get a little dressed up if you want, but you can also look casual and not feel judged. The only potential negative is that the tables are very close together, but if you’re a big eavesdropper like me, this is kind of the best entertainment (it’s a huge first date spot and we’ve overheard some insane conversations). They also have v fun cocktails. Overall, the best neighborhood spot for a date night!!

I definitely want to go back and try their vegan friendly ramen.So, the only complaint I have with this place is I was running late and their requirement is to call if you’re running late past the 15 minute grace period. I called maybe 6 times😭 and it gave a busy signal, then on my final try, it said the number wasn’t in service.I did tell the hostess about it when I got there. This is something to be aware of because when you make a reservation, they ask to put your card on file and you can be charged automatically. Thankfully, I wasn’t charged for being a no show because it would’ve been $50 lol.

The food, however was the highlight of the experience. Quality, fresh fish and unique yet familiar takes on traditional Japanese dishes make this place a must-visit. I highly recommend the Brussels sprouts (dressed like takoyaki, genius) and the salmon carpaccio starters. Also worth noting that their specialty rolls are decadent enough to actually fill you up!

The oyster happy hour is delicious and the waiter was happy to recommend which we should try since it was my friends first time getting oysters. The yuzu cocktail is incredibly refreshing and one of those drinks you can quickly drink and realize you’re a little tipsy afterwards. We tried different sushi, and appetizers and the waiters were able to split the check between the three of us without a problem. Definitely will be back again and again!

Comment: My wife and I shared the Gem Salad, the Bakudan Tofu, the Chirashi, and the Rib Eye. For dessert we shared the Chocolate Fondante. One thing I loved about the vibe was all the plants and the old school analogue sound system that had the base grooves feeling warm and vivid. But to the food: the salad was crisp and refreshing, and the Bakudan tofu was also very good, with a mix of okra and house made Kimchi. The Kimchi has that nice effervescence that one only gets from lactic acid fermentation. Our waiter was very good and I’m glad he had recommended that we dice and mix the tofu prior to eating. This way all the flavors were present in each bite. The Chirashi was tasty and healthy, with a brown rice base and micro greens, the distribution and shape of the fish cuts reminded me of poké, more than traditional Chirashi, but tasty nontheless. the Ribeye was cooked perfectly medium rare, and the fries and mustard were on excellent side. The chocolate cake for dessert was perfect. Underneath the scoop of ice cream were crushed pistachios for some nice added texture and flavor. As of my visit they did not have their liquor license, but perhaps they are BYOB or are in the process of getting it. Great date spot. Fantastic value.

The server we had was in the weeds doing it all on his own but he was hustling and amazing. Now lets get to the food.
