Comment: Im honestly in love with this place. The food here is top-notch; I find myself constantly drawn to the mentaiko pasta and the hot pot. The beef in the hot pot is so tender and fatty - it practically melts in your mouth. Not only is the food amazing, but I also think the pricing is quite reasonable for the quality you get.But what truly sets this place apart for me is the service, especially from Pinky. Pinky is an outstanding server, always so accommodating and genuinely nice. If you get a chance to chat with them, definitely do - itll just make your experience even better!Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for great food and even greater service.

Comment: If youre looking for a deal, all-day happy hour, late 2000s hits, or just looking to get your udon fix, go to Tsurutontan. Their comedically giant bowls wont steer away from the simple fact that their udon is good. They also do deals for lunch that can combine sushi with a side of udon or rice. Just go, Im sure you wont regret it.

Comment: We ordered shrimp tempura roll, spicy creme shrimp temp, truffle creme snow crab, the shrimp tempura roll was a 10/10, it was perfect, the spice, salt, crunchy… everything was so perfect, and spicy creme shrimp temp was not as spicy as we expected it would be, we liked the quantity 👌🏻 it is good for a full meal for two people what we ordered was more than enough, nice place for a random date, food would not disappoint you and the ambience was a 7/10. Parking is not present specifically. I am adding menu to the photos😉

Comment: Pretty good food and the place is lovely. The Ramen is very tasty and spicy. The fried dumplings are great. The spicy tuna was not very spicy and was bland. The spider roll was good but fell apart constantly. I think they forgot my order and I waited a while as my friends ate. I would come back again though and try out some other items.

Comment: Love Tsuru Ton Tan, especially on a cold/damp/rainy day. The food here is mostly dishes containing Udon Noodles ( which are delicious). Lets cover this, shall we ?:- Service is aces. The hostess is so nice and lightning fast. Our server, was like. Hummingbird, catching all requests from any part of the room. He was EXCELLENT.-Food is pretty good, but it helps if you know these dishes. The popular dishes seem to be the LARGE BOWLS of various types of Udon noodles. They have also now added an All You Can Eat Hot Pot option. I tried that this visit and it was decent. My only issue is the sushi that I ordered w it didnt arrive for 30 minutes.

Comment: Tough job dealing with AYCE orders, all of the staff deserve a raise!Due to the high electricity demand for hotpot/bbq, our stoves would be on/off -- something that the staff has no control over -- and it needs to be addressed by the restaurant owner now that they have decided to do AYCE that involves electrical stoves. We chose the $68 menu and the soft shell crabs, oysters, scallops did not disappoint! I decided to try all the soups (a surcharge of $3/person, no big deal):(1) sukiyaki broth -- I thought it was a little strong, salty, it tasted like a soba broth(2) shabu shabu broth -- my favorite, lighter taste(3) spicy tantan -- my friends favorite(4) lemon chicken paitan -- also my favorite, it was creamy and deliciousI dont usually like Udon, but the housemade Udon was delicious with any of the broths. I also really liked the refreshing cucumber salad.Great food, great experience!

Comment: Love this place!!!I’ve been there more than 15 times over the years. Just last week we went there for lunch with my coworker. We got there around noon and there was no line at all. They have happy hours 12PM-6PM. Average price of udon $20-25. Other day we went there just for drinks and I can’t complain.I like how they designed this place as well. There is all you can eat options, but I haven’t tried it yet.

Comment: Brought a friend here on a Saturday evening. It was busy but we had a resy and were seated right away. Our waiter also greeted us quickly, took our drink order, came back with the drinks, then took our dinner order. Our giant udon bowls came quickly and we took our time to savor every delicious mouthful. The veggies, meat, and broth were all superb!!! This is such a great place for delicious, comfort food! I HIGHLY recommend!

Comment: ***The third time***I know that my first and second time the service is horrible but I still love their food. LolSo I decided to visit this place again and finally they improved their service. The waitress and runner are nice. They take a good care of us. The food served more faster and not forget anything. And the food is also yummy.Thank you so much for your work hard to improve the restaurant. I really like your food.***The second time***I gave this restaurant a second chance for try the all you can eat buffet. The service still horrible as the same.We order two soups but we get only one soup. They always forget what we ordered. You have to put all your afford to get attention from them. How many percent of tips that they expect from this kind of service? When the friend of the waiter came to sit on the table next from us. They get extremely friendly attention from him.Our soup has dried into the bottom of the pot but no one care.We do understand that it all you can eat but we probably not allows to be able to get the food from the kitchen but believe me if I can I will. Therefore, my first review is below.I keep it in original version.***First review***We went there for the all you can eat but unfortunately we cant be there on time. The waitress said that the all you can eat and Japanese hotpot function has stopped serving at 8:30 pm and we was there at 8:35 pm even the restaurant has closed at 10:00 pm.So we try their Udon instead of Japanese hotpot. The Udon bowl is so elegant. The portion is extremely big.Unfortunately one of our friends order her favorite thing Uni udon but the Uni got fishy smell and we have to wait so long before the waitress come to check on us.Then she bring the whole bowl back to kitchen and com back with the answer the Uni hasnt imported from Japan so it got some smell. We didnt have any argument with her on that day because that was an answer from the chef. So we just asked her to take it back and take it out from the bill. And hope they understand that people who love to eat Uni know that it fresh or not. Maybe just our unlucky day.By the way the other bowl which consists of beef and sukiyaki soup is awesome. I definitely come back for this or try to find time to get there earlier for the Japanese hotpot.

We started with an edamame tofu salad which was ok but I felt the tofu too soft, I would like it crispy or grilled… then we ordered 4 different types of sushi. All of them great! Comment: A Culinary Noodle Journey at TsuruTonTan 🍜Exploring the menu at TsuruTonTan led me to the delightful cold Uni Udon, where the fresh, oceanic notes of sea urchin elegantly melded with perfectly textured noodles. The Wagyu Curry Udon also proved to be a standout, with the rich, savory curry beautifully complementing the premium, flavorful beef. While the venue can be notably bustling, these standout dishes ensure a memorable and tasty visit for any udon enthusiast exploring Union Square.

Comment: Went on a Monday so there wasn’t a crowd and we were seated very quickly. We went for the all you can eat hotpot. There are three options with the quality of the meat and dishes increasing the more you pay. They give you 1 pot for every 2 people. That means if you each want to have your own broth, you’ll need to pay $3 extra. The food was brought out quickly and the staff readily answered any questions we had. If you are looking for a decent hotpot spot in the city, give this place a try. There’s lots of options and the quality of the food is good.

Comment: I’ve been to Tsurutontan in Tokyo twice, so I was really excited to try their NYC location and they didn’t disappoint. Despite the steep price, it really brings the authentic taste of Japan to the States. The interior is classy, spacious, and suitable for group dining. If you are a big eater you will certainly get satisfied with their big portion.* Mentaiko Caviar KamatamaAs a huge fan of mentaiko, I was 100% satisfied by this cold mentaiko udon. It was topped with a big scoop of raw mentaiko ball, making sure you could wrap every udon with plenty of mentaiko in every slurp. The yolk of the onsen egg was gloriously oozy, soft and runny. It tasted wonderful over the cold udon. It was also sprinkled with some tempura bits, which added a nice crunchiness against the chewy udon. Overall the udon was punched up with a range of exciting textures and flavors for summer.* Uni Cold UdonMy friend ordered this — obviously one big piece of uni wouldn’t satisfy her uni cravings. We both agreed the uni tasted fresh and briny with a prominent umami flavor. The cold udon was tossed with nori and uni dashi sauce, but it was pretty one-note. I’d suggest adding toppings or sides to serve with this bowl. Like the mentaiko udon, their udon noodle had the perfect springy texture.

Comment: Overall it was good food, I wouldn’t rate it 5 stars as it wasn’t amazing were I’d come back but it was definitely a nice experience. We spent est $100 for 2 udon, dumpling and spring rolls, and 2 cokes and all of it was good, but personally I’d prefer different places to eat. I’d say about service, it felt very pressured/ uncomfortable at times as the server would come to often to ask if the foods alright / if we’re ready to order, which can be nice but only a few times. Not asking over 5 times if the foods good, nothing to hate nor bad, but personally asking once or twice is good. Also not to misinterpret that the staff were bad, they were great, got the food in a great timely manner as well as if we ever needed anything, which shows their really on top of things their. If I had to recommend anything definitely get the dumplings theyre really really good.

Comment: The udon, service, and atmosphere (perfect AC, which helped justify getting hot soup in 85 degree weather!) were honestly incredible. I’m a massive fan of udon soup and often make it myself, and the beef sukiyaki deluxe was legitimately some of the best I’ve ever had. The flavor of the beef and broth were immaculate, and the ratio of meat to noodles to veggies was absolutely perfect. The service was wonderful and concise without being obtrusive or pushy, with lots of genuine smiles and quick answers to questions. Many of the servers who brought us things smiled and said goodbye to us from the kitchen as we were leaving, which was very sweet! Both my partner and I have a lot of trouble with restaurants being too bright/noisy for us to comfortably eat in sometimes, and the atmosphere here was truly perfect. The lighting was bright enough to see without being too direct or glaring, the decor was warm tones and woods, the music was fun but not too loud, and the overall volume of patrons was quite low (though we were there on a Thursday night, late, so take that into account). Even if it was more crowded, I think we would feel very comfortable there. My only downside was that I didn’t think the sushi was anything too special (not bad, just didn’t have the wow factor of the udon), but we were really there for the udon anyway. I would recommend trying one of their appetizers instead!

Comment: When we came to this restaurant, we did not have a reservation and were fully prepared to have to wait close to an hour on a busy Saturday night. However, to our surprise, the host was very patient with us and even sat with us within 15 minutes! Location wise this restaurant is on a side street right off Union sq Park, so it was slower foot traffic, but the ambiance inside the restaurant was very homey and welcoming. For the food, we ordered the sashimi platter to share, which consisted of salmon, tuna, whitefish, fresh ebi (shrimp), and uni. It felt like we were getting fresh fish for a great price. Next, for the entrees, we got beef & unagi over rice (donburi) and cold uni udon. Both had very distinct and memorable tastes. It wasnt our first time at this restaurant, and it definitely wont be our last because it has an enormous menu to fulfill many different types of cravings, ranging from the most popular undo options to sushi, rice, and many appetizers as well!!!

Each little sitting space has the most interesting textures on the wall - ropes, to denim to coconuts. Theres a back room, and a huge other space that I did not see until I was leaving.Service was spectacular. And the food itself was incredible. The truffle wagyu udon I ordered was delicious. I see why its the number one best seller according to the menu. The bowl is massive! The spoon is massive! The chopsticks were normal size which is good bcuz how would I be able to eat with massive chopsticks?Highly recommend this place for good food, good vibes and looks great for groups as well as 1 or 2 diners. Comment: Came here for lunch they have lunch special, with a set you get a regular bowl of udon and a set 10 pieces of nigiri. The udon nowl is huge. I can’t even finish my food. I have the uni udon which is $10 extra, it’s very creamy taste more like a creamy paste but with a lot of sauce. Very thick and delicious. I tried my friends truffle wagyu bowl I think that taste better, broth is more like a pho clear beef broth with truffle oil. All the sashimi are very fresh and tasty. The space is very big inside and very cute modern design, tables are spaced out enough to feel comfortable. The service is great, the chef came to explain to us what are the best. And patiently waiting for us to decide what to order.

Comment: I was skeptical. The menu was huge (physically and just items on it). And it wasn’t very busy when we arrived…but it was delicious!Kara age was awesome. The udon bowls were super tasty (get the egg and some extra spice on the side if you actually want spice). Drinks were strong.Overall this place really surprised me and I thought it was delicious!

Comment: Our first visit to Tsuru Ton Tan was excellent - the waiting staffs were friendly, the food was delicious and would come back again. Between the 3 of us, we shared 1x Salmon Poke, 1x Wagyu Tan Tan and 1x Sukiyaki Udon - with their portion sizes, this was enough to make everyone full and happy. The bill came out to be around $30pp inc tip which was excellent for sharing value.

Comment: Went for a team gathering. I was told this restaurant is super popular and need to make reservation ahead of time especially with a group of people. The table was originally a bit tight for us but they were very nice to offer another table so we could sit comfortably. The service was good and the udon was tasty. I got the spicy one with wagyu beef. The beef was very tender. The soup wasn’t as savory as ramen noodles but I still enjoyed it! I especially liked the large bowel and spoon style. Food and drink is cheaper during happy hour.

Comment: It was an excellent option for lunch, the food was amazing, the portions were plenty, the flavors were divine! I could definitely eat every single day with them! The menu is very interesting and has many options, the prices are fare and the food gets to your soul! My favorite was the ramen and the nigiri. 100 % recommended!!! The drinks are way too good, specially the lychee martini! The presentation of the food also is beautiful and neat!

Comment: Came here for udon, but got persuaded to get the combo (sushi with a side of udon). do not regret it in the slightest. plenty of noodles in the side udon. the bowl size for regular udon was twice the size of my head!also recommend the cocktails - got the Osaka Garden - but the reason this is not a 5 star is because our waiter didn’t come by and i would’ve definitely ordered a second.

Comment: I love the vibes inside, music, service, and overall atmosphere of the restaurant. But I cant believe Im saying this but maybe the portions are too big? Like who on earth can finish that entire bowl of udon? Its like 3 whole meals lol. But other than that the flavours were good. I got the deluxe wagyu sukiyaki and I liked the broth but was a bit disappointed that the meat was a bit too chewy and not soft/melt in your mouth. The noodles were also not chewy to my liking and closer to the mushy side. Still a very cool restaurant tho and maybe Id try the other dishes next time, but definitely gonna share with someone instead

Comment: Great food, big portions, low prices (especially Mon to Wed with all day happy hour), large number of options including sushi, sashimi and appetizers, nice ambience and decorations especially near the bar, clean. Would definitely revisit. They also have dividers between each table. We had the spicy garlic chicken and shrimp dumpling for starters and both were really good. For the entree I had the truffle crab cream udon noodle and it was amazing. The broth was creamy, rich and flavorful, the noodle had a great bite and there was a good amount of mushrooms and crab meat. Everyone in my group loved the food and three of us packed up the leftovers due to the large portions.

Comment: This was by far the best bowl of udon I’ve very had. The sukiyaki beef was unbelievably flavorful and the beef itself was delightfully cooked. It was around medium, really tender, which is such a delight since so many souls will end up a little tough if overcooked. The sushi was solid, definitely really fresh. The udon is the real star of the show though! Highly, highly recommended. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful, too.

Comment: This place has easily become one of my favorite places to eat lunch at in Manhattan. The sushi is always so fresh and delicious, and on top of that, the udon is so hot and savory. The sushi pairs really well with the udon. On top of that, the interior of the establishment is incredibly friendly and casual, and I always get such an amazing vibe and ambiance from here. You also cant beat these prices in Manhattan, the dishes are very affordable.

Comment: I’ve been here a couple of times and it’s always great. I recommend the deluxe salmon lover, which comes with a bunch of sushi and udon. It’s a great value. There are a lot of options for the udon—curry is my favorite, and I don’t recommend the wagyu because it’s a weird combination with the udon. Service was quick and attentive. Making a reservation is recommended on weekend evenings.

Comment: The flavor of udon is not as amazing as the huge bowl… I really like the presentation of food, but to be honest the noodle and soup is not the creamy type that I expect. I would hope it’s more savory or creamy. But would like to try some other udon next time. We ordered the shishito but the kitchen is too busy to prepare it until the very end, and they just took this on them and didn’t charge us. 5 star for the service and vibe!

Comment: Came here during their 50% off special 2 weeks ago with my friends. We made a reservation a few days beforehand using Resy which was no problem at all. When we arrived, we were seated inside the booth seat. The waitress who served us, told us that due to Covid regulations, sharing food would not be allowed, so they did not give us separate plates. We ordered a medley of appetizers for each of us, from Wagyu sushi to shrimp dumplings. My favorite was definitely the cucumber salad, even though we got full at one point the cucumber did refresh us.We each ordered an udon dish, and did not expect them to be huge. They were bigger than our faces. As mentioned by my friends, the udon was delicious and the curry was really flavorful. I loved my Wagyu sukiyaki udon, as the broth was sweet and light; it really mixed well with the onion and the poached egg. The udon had soaked up the broth and adding the fried chicken from the appetizer, my appetite was satisfied. Came out of the restaurant full, and our bill was a fraction of the price ($100), as it would be if we ordered original price. We did order drinks which were the original price, but unfortunately they did not have the drink I wanted that had matcha. Instead I got a their version of a Moscow mule, which was refreshing .As far as I know, the 50% special is still going, but I do recommend making a reservation.

Comment: Went there for their covid sale and ended up extremely satisfied. A few important points if you are going to dine there - there is a time limit dependent on the number in your party. My party of 2 only had 45 mins to eat, starting from the time we sat down. Not too ideal as my friend and I ended up having to scarf our food down towards the end. Outdoor seating is horrendous so we had to sit inside. Overall food was good but too many un-ideal restrictions.

Comment: I first had Tsurutontan udon through UberEats and it just so good that I decided to go dine-in. Coincidentally, when my friend and I went for dine-in they were doing a promo of 50% off all appetizers and entrees for dine-in only (promo ends Nov 30, 2020). The texture of the udon definitely something you can’t get any where else in NYC, but I feel like its comparable to the udon you can get at the Mitsuwa Edgewater food court. The ingredients used tastes of high quality. Regular menu pricing definitely towards $$$, I’d say one can pay about $40-50/ there if they order an udon and a drink or appetizer including tax & gratuity. The restaurant square footage is pretty decent and spacious, too.

Comment: Came here for lunch on a cold afternoon. The shrimp tempura was perfect - juicy in the inside, light crunchy salty batter and the spicy sauce was a great accompaniment. The shishitos were plump and lemony, sometimes a little smoky. The Udon bowl was huge! The broth a little more fishy than I usually like, but flavorful. Comment: Came here on a busy Saturday and this place was completely packed. Wait was over an hour so my group and I decided to get drinks else where prior to sitting down. We ordered the curry deluxe 24, beef udon, small order of uni and salmon roe, and also the spicy tuna rolls. Wow these bowls are massive and packed with so much broth and udon. The Japanese curry was mild and rich in flavor. You want to eat the katsu and tempura rather quickly as they do get soggy. The beef in the udon comes out a little rare and youll want to dip it in the broth a lil longer for it to cook. The small sized uni and salmon roe was perfect with our dish. I was really please with the service here. We felt like we had 3 servers at all times. The restaurant has a cool dark ambient feel to it. Extra comfy leather chairs and plenty of sitting for large parties. I really enjoyed my experience here. Flavors were on point and the massive bowls blew me a way. Highly recommend this to anyone that loves udon and authentic Japanese cuisine.

Comment: Tsurutontan greets you with a cozy atmosphere. Dimmed lights and dark woods. Ceilings are tall in the main hall and the whole place gives off much warmth. Once seated, we were promptly attended to and eagerly awaited our orders. I ordered the Deluxe Curry (which comes in a thicker broth (curry) than the rest of the menu, as well as a chicken cutlet and shrimp tempura). I opted for the thick noodles and the larger size bowl. Interestingly enough, the normal and large sizes are the same price but just differ in the amount of broth/curry used. The orders are brought over in these huge bowls and covered with a wooden plate, which is removed by the server once served. We were given ladle spoons and a little holder which is great as we had chopsticks for the meat/ noodles however, you could eat everything with just the ladle. The chicken cutlet had a nice crisp to it. Chicken was well made. The shrimp tempura worked quite well here. Not an overpowering flavor but the shrimp was breaded and fit the dish well. The thick noodles and curry were phenomenal. I highly recommend the thick noodles, which are soft, and add to the eating experience. Together, a large Deluxe Curry filled me fully and then some. Amazing dish. Those who prefer more of a soup texture will enjoy the beef udon. The service was good and the food phenomenal. Highly recommend this!

They have a variety of Udon noodle bowls as well as an assortment of appetizers: calamari, dumplings. A large portion of Udon noodles is available at no extra charge. Each set had generous portions of food and the mini udon was very filling. Great price for the amount and quality of food. The udon with hot dashi base was light and tasty, while the spicy pork soup was a little heavy. Udon noodles were chewy and good. Service was good. Definitely follow up with the waiter/waitress if your food hasnt arrived in a timely manner. Our waiter quickly tracked down our desserts. The udon broth didnt trigger any thirst or headaches (usually get those from MSG) - great! Would recommend to others.

Comment: The restaurant was atmospheric with dim lighting. The table is set up to replicate a traditional Japanese noodle shop with a pair of chopsticks on a tiny rock. Servers are attentive as if they see that you are just sitting there looking around they will come to you and offer information. I did have on server James who was super attentive that made recommendations and made sure we are comfortably settled in and answered all of our questions about the menu. Portions were huge . They have the option of paying the same price for the udon choice with a free upgrade _ getting an additional portion . I dont know how anyone can eat the regular portion let alone the upgrade. But they did allow you to pack to go so the choice is up to you. Food was delicious. I highly recommend the tuna taco !

Comment: I love ramens and here is the place. There are many options for ramen and also other dishes for sushi. The presentation of the dishes are definitely great and so is the taste. I think the price is reasonable. The big one is pretty big, imagine a bowl twice the size of your face. The amount of noodle is very generous as well. Restaurant light is dimmed, somewhat feeling romantic haha the food area is for whoever that’s eating. If you would like to stay in and continue to talk to your friends, then you would need to move to the bar counter area. At times it gets busy. You will area long line outside, reservation is recommended.

Comment: Excellent happy hour, but its only served at the bar, with a separate menu. We ended up getting a table to try the udon noodles. The way the restaurant is set up my girlfriend and I ended up sitting next to each other, looking at another party through a room separator. We had the Waygu Truffle Udon, which was very heavy on the truffle. The second Udon dish was spicier but unmemorable. For dessert we had the water cake, which is very interesting. It consists of a gelatinous water bubble accompanied with malt powder, chocolate syrup and vanilla ice cream. Try it if you like udon.

Comment: I’ve frequented this place a few times since I’m quite a fan of their udon noodles, but it feels as if the taste as been becoming less and less intriguing after each experience. I cannot say for sure whether it is due to my having had this multiple times already, but my most recent visit definitely left me feeling as if the first few times were much better. However, despite so, I would still recommend the place as it is one of the better tasting places that I have been to in NYC!

Comment: A great spot if youre craving udon. They have many options in flavors such as curry, creme, dashi broth, etc. You can upgrade to extra noodles for free if youre hungry (the standard size has a good amount of noodles already). They also a great number of appetizers to try and I recommend the soy garlic fried chicken. Also, definitely try to make a reservation and come before 7pm for dinner, which is when they start getting really packed.

Comment: Large & regular size both cost the same. The large size bowl has a huge portion! Ordered udon with duck and meatballs - it was delicious and I wasnt thirsty after the meal. Would recommend eating all instead of taking home for a second meal, as re-heated noodles dont taste as good. Very quick service and waiters were friendly.

Comment: I came here for lunch right at noon when it opened with one of my friends on a Thursday. Originally we were a party of 3 but one person was running late and we were hungry and didnt want to risk having to wait longer for a table so we just were seated in the lower level at the long table seating for 2. It was unfortunate that they were unable to accommodate for the guest that was running a bit late, but I guess that with the high volume of lunch rush they want to get people in and out.Sabrina was our server and she was extremely kind, knowledgeable and helpful! She really helped make our experience at Tsuru ton tan a great one. I ordered the tsurutontan deluxe which had a nice light but flavorful broth with egg, chicken, beef, and tempura in it. I fell in love with the udon and was probably the best one that Ive ever had! My friend who has a different taste palette ordered the sukiyaki udon which has a sweeter and more savory broth flavor which I found a bit too sweet for me, but my friend enjoyed his a lot. They have a selection of Lady M desserts to serve, but we were running low on time since we had to catch a bus later in the afternoon. I would recommend making a reservation when planning coming here to ensure that you get a seat! The price point is more expensive for udon/noodles, but I would say that its definitely worth the taste and flavor.

Comment: Went in as a party of two around 5:30PM and luckily there was no check-in line. We ordered the Soy Garlic Fried tatsuna chicken, uni creme udon, and wagyu shabu udon in truffle dashi and they were all on point. Given the price ($20~$30), portion was decently large and in terms of depth of flavors, udon here was the closest to the ones that I had in Japan among udon places I visited in NYC. I especially liked the broth of wagyu shabu udon which had pleasantly intense aroma of truffle.

Comment: Best udon in the area! Had this noodle shop bookmarked forever and it didnt disappoint. The noodles are served in a MASSIVE bowl with plenty of toppings - I got the Tsurutontan Deluxe and it comes with lots of chicken, beef, shrimp & veggie tempura in an egg drop broth. You can choose between thin or thick noodles, and regular or large bowls. The regular size was plenty and we couldnt even finish that. Prices are a bit steep but the noodles are worth it!

Comment: Very tasty and the ingredients were so fresh. The broth from the tsurutontan deluxe udon was so refreshing and delicious. The soy garlic fried tatsuta chicken was not too spicy and just the right texture and easy to bite into and chew. Very tasty. I had the sizzling sukiyaki udon which was very tasty and full of flavor. One the ibwould change is to a thinner noodles because the thick noodles was too filling. The cost for large and regular was also the same so of course we chose the large. Delicious but expensive.

Comment: Loved it! I love the decor and the atmosphere. The place is big with several floors but it still gets crowded. I recommend making a reservation. The spicy tuna cones were tasty but rather small. Excellent snow crab roll. The Udon entrees are rather big, and you can have extra noodles for the same price. Ill definitely go back!

Comment: Tsurutontan Udon Noodle Brasserie21 E 16th St New York, NY 10003This place has a massive menu almost too many things to choose, We decided on a seasonal udon the Seafood Chigae Udon, with Shrimp, Scallops and clams. Sadly we didnt get the big bowl with this but I cant blame them because it needs to be in a stone clay pot to keep it cooking! The udon quickly absorbs the soup so eat it as you go! I thought it was the right about of spicyness and flavor, the seafood was nicely portioned. We got Fresh scallops and Soy garlic chicken, the scallops were fresh and creamy and nicely priced! The soy garlic chicken was nice and crispy and the sauce made it have a nice flavor that made you dip it back and wipe the plate clean! I think this place is a nice hit, not too pricey but definitely need to take another visit. I went during a sunday and there was a short wait for two, so plan ahead! As always check my photos and my IG Jliueats

Comment: Great udon bowls! The portions here are huge, and you can order a larger order (more noodles) for I believe the same price as a normal order. That being said the bowls are a little bit on the pricey side but for the amount of food its worth it.We tried the salmon and ikura roll as well - this tasted pretty fresh, and was very tasty but it was pricey for sushi. If youre going to an udon place, I think you should get what they specialize in.Service was very good and decor was nice. Overall pretty good!

Comment: Our first visit, on a Saturday night. We tried a bunch of appetizers and sushi rolls at the bar. Staff are friendly and service is fast. Food is delicious and fresh. We had Sea and Truffle Roll, Tuna Tartar in cones, Fried Eggplant and Shishito Pepers. They all went nicely with Sake. Nice atmosphere! Will definitely come back for the noodles.

Comment: Udons not bad here. Pretty smooth and a bit chewy. The curry wasnt that great. It just tasted like water down curry. The sizzling one was quite good. Big perk about this place is the free upgrade to a large size.

Comment: Delicious Udon and other Japanese dishes. First time there and tried the tofu, fried chicken, nabeyaki udon and sizzling sukiyaki Udon. Sizzling sukiyaki Udon does not come with broth, but it tasted really good. Choose large portion and thick noodle and really liked them. Look forward to returning to try other dishes. Service was excellent. Been back multiple times and the food and service have been consistently above expectation. Must visit.

Comment: Ive had only one experience here so far but Im already swept away. We had a party of six and the service was amazing despite our larger group size. They made sure we had clean utensil in between dishes and were very entertaining and accommodating. The food was of course very good and sushi was surprisingly great despite them being known for their noodle dishes. I would definitely recommend and will be looking to come back!

Comment: Wow, I love TsuruTonTan! Where do I even start??I love the modern decor of the restaurant. It made me think it might be an expensive place, it is not. I found the prices quite reasonable for what you actually get. They serve their noodles in these hilariously large bowls. I was worried that the place is only popular because it was a gimmicky thing to do, but my worries disspiated once I took my first bite...it was very delicious!I ordered the Nabeyaki Udon - it was jammed packed with accompaniments. Its got two shrimp tempuras, soft boiled egg, chicken, enoki mushroom, shiitake mushroom, napa cabbage, sea eel and a slice of scallop (?). All of this is simmered in a delicious, comforting broth. The udon noodles were nice and chewy, just the way I like it! It was perfect. Totally reasonable for $20 (lunch price)My friend ordered the cold mentai-kamatama udon. There is a huge portion of spicy fish caviar and youre supposed to mix the soft boiled egg with it along with the udon. The udon in the cold dish is even chewier (in the nice way!), and I love that this tasted light yet delicious. Although I have to say my friend was totally jealous of my dish!Oh, and this place gives extra noodles for free! How awesome is that?? We both got extra noodles and managed to finish everything. If you dont want to wait, there is a convenient app that lets you make reservations. I did not have to wait at all.

Comment: I was fortunate to come here before 6pm one night and lucky me... no wait!Tsurutontan is an establishment that people are familiar with in Japan and they decided to open up their first shop in the USA by Union Square! This place is decently sized and I think there was a lot of hype in the first week as I heard there were crazy waits. There is good reason though, as I feel the food is great. The ambiance and feel of this place was delightful, coupled with the very nice and attentive servers here. She even was promoting how nice the menu looked (which yes, it did look very well done)! There were so many choices of appetizers and different types of udon (hot, cold, traditional, and unique styles), along with some rice bowls if you are actually not feeling udon (but you really SHOULD try the udon, as its KNOWN for it!). Anyways, after careful deliberation, I decided to go for what was apparently their most popular dish, the cold Uni Udon. When I ordered this, you have the option to get the large order, which to be honest, is still a very manageable size.Upon receiving my bowl, I have to say that this was one of the best bowls of udon I ever had in the United States. I felt there was just the right amount of sea urchin and flavor in it. What really won me over was a very simple ingredient, the sesame seeds, as it provided a nice mixture of taste. The udon noodles themselves were prepared very well with the right amount of texture. This definitely is illustrated by the fact that the udon is prepared in-house.Maybe I tried their best dish here?!? Who knows, I would have to come back here and try some other bowls of udon... but with how good the Uni Udon is... that will be hard to actually follow-through on that idea.

Comment: Beautiful restaurant eith excellent service. The creamy mushroom udon soup was very flavorful and a great vegetarian option. We loved everything we ordered except for a sushi roll - it did not have much flavor. The pork buns, cucumber salad, spicy tuna appetizer, and dumplings were all delicious. Highly recommend this place.
