Comment: Food is good.Service is ok but I am not sure whether it is worth for 25% tips.When I booked the place they did not say that I had to pay 25% tips. When I confirmed the place couple days ago before, they said they needed us to pay 25% tips. I think it is ridiculous. They did not mention the tips anywhere on their website.

Comment: I recently had an amazing Omakase experience at U Omakase, it felt like a combination of an Omakase experience with Michelin-style fine dining. The food was simply incredible – creative, tasty, luxurious, and extremely satisfying. However, there was much more to this exceptional experience.Firstly, the hospitality. Chef Louis provided an exceptional warm hospitality, with free-flowing Sake and personal attention. The large U-shaped table created a sense of community, and before long, it felt like I was sharing a meal with a group of friends.The overall experience at U Omakase was truly unforgettable, ranking among the best I’ve ever had. This hidden gem is a steal at $89.I can’t recommend it strongly enough.Thanks Chef. 🙏💖🙏

Comment: It was a fantastic time, best omakase we’ve had in nyc so far! (+ A couple of the dishes were the best food we’ve ever had!)Where they shine is their intimate, down to earth hospitality paired with exceptional, creative dishes. Definitely a must try!!More Info:- 75min seating, but plan for ~2 hrs- It truly feels like a gathering of friends, but no need to be intimidated as it just feels very comfortable, no pressure to mingle- Look out for the street sign for the entrance, it looks like a house from the outside- You will not get to see the chef’s at work up close, as their kitchen is in the corner (but open concept)- BYOB no corkage fee (but your new friends may share some of their drinks with you ;))- Menu may change, depending on the fresh ingredients sourced that weekRoom for improvement? (With love):- The seats at the very middle (bottom of the U) were always served last, meaning we had to hurry and eat to return the dishes so as not to hold up the next course, get less of the birthday cake, and also the unfortunate ones not to get the planned dish if there aren’t enough (the alternate dish was just not as exciting and felt like a rushed after thought…) Perhaps the serving order could be alternated, to start from the middle/ends. It did feel like the worst seat at the table for food.- The creative dishes were sooo exceptional that the simple nigiri’s seemed average in comparison. Mixed feelings within my group on which ones we did enjoy.Overall an amazing place, hence the 5 star. Can’t wait to be back again, thanks for the amazing time & food!

Comment: I was pleasantly surprised to come upon this spot in Greenpoint. It was a little difficult to get the reservation as this place has limited seating. There are only fourteen seats and the open kitchen concept works well. The decoration has a good vibe & the music playlist was great. The food was seriously amazingly good.

Comment: The food and overall experience was excellent. Some pieces were missing a small kick, but for the most part, all very good. The setting/atmosphere was awesome. Everyone on the staff was very welcoming. What stops this from getting 5 stars for me personally, is that compared to some other Omakase experiences Ive had, this one didnt feel as refined. Still a great place to eat though, and Id recommend it.

Comment: I’m a big omakase lover and let me tell you, U is one of the best in the city! If I could give 10 stars just for the vibes I would. Great music, great ambiance, great service. Highly recommend for a date night. Each dish is slightly untraditional and the flavors are exciting… keeps you on the edge of your seat for what will come next.

Comment: My husband and I came to U Omakases official grand opening night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Let me say- WOW... I hope we get to spend every anniversary meal here! The staff went above and beyond to create what felt like an incredibly special dining experience for their patrons. The small communal setting made for an intimate meal setting with what was technically a group of random strangers, but by the end of the evening, felt like a group of friends. And the food...wow, amazing! Literally every single course was exquisite and thoughtfully crafted. If you are a sushi fan like ourselves, you will also appreciate the freshness of all of the fish- the uni especially! I sincerely hope this restaurant does well, and we truly cannot wait to return.
