Comment: Extraordinarily good. It’s the kind of place you want to gate keep but also brag about. Go while you can. It’s a different level.

Comment: Ordered the: Neri Tofu, Black Truffle Curry, and Duck Shio. Overall, the tofu & duck shio was A++.First time having homemade tofu, and real wasabi, and I’m happy we ordered this. All of this with the dashi broth was great. The duck shio was my personal favorite of the soup. The pink peppercorn is a fantastic add of flavor, which gives a very light citrus-tang to the broth & some bites.Black truffle curry was underwhelming. Just tasted like a nicely spiced & flavored soba curry with some duck. Wasn’t an all star, especially with the price too. Shiso leaf sorbet at the end, was just like shaved ice. Didn’t wow me, would be delicious on a hot summer day though. I would come on a scorching day just for that in a paper cup hahaI would recommend the duck shio by a long shot! One of the best soups I’ve had in my life.

Comment: Ignore the other low rated reviews. This soba restaurant is fantastic. Shuichi Kotani is world class and his craft shines through from the food to handmade potteryHad soba two ways, hot with duck broth and cold with sashimi. Both were very unique and delicious. Chef was gracious enough to stop and explain to us how his 12 hour duck broth is madeRestaurant is gorgeous, good vibes. Soft jazz playing with a collection of Japanese pottery and other trinkets adorning the back room

Comment: You have to eat here! A truly great dining experience and had the pleasure of sitting at the bar and having a conversation with Chef. His inner beauty and wisdom are understood more deeply after eating his food. Everything is GLUTEN FREE. Best soba I’ve ever had and made with love. Delicious deserts and my personal fave was the tofu - WOW! You feel and taste as if you were eating homegrown fresh food. Also, the space is epic Brooklyn with the coolest Japanese vibe.

Comment: The ambiance was very comfortable and spacious, providing an elegant dining experience. The service was very attuned and quick, where they gave my wife napkins without us asking when she saw us pull out some of our own, which demonstrates amazing consideration and observational skills! The tofu appetizer was delicious, balancing perfectly between its sweetness and its cream-like texture, with a hint of nuttiness as well; highly recommend trying the appetizer! The yuzu soda had great initial yuzu flavors, but the aftertaste was very diluted and watery, which was unfortunate. Now for the main stars of the show. I ordered the black truffle yakuzen curry soba which came with a good and rich curry broth. However, the duck pieces in the dish were very shredded (as you can see in the photo) which didnt provide a good bite to it and was easily overpowered by everything else that was going on. The black truffle didnt add much to the dish and you couldnt really taste the truffle over the curry. Overall it was a decent dish but definitely not worth its high price tag. My wife got the deluxe sashimi soba and it was incredibly fresh and refreshing! Chef Shuichi definitely ensured to get the freshest of ingredients and it shows! The uni had no bitter aftertaste and the coldness of the dish added to its incredibly refreshing flavor profile! Highly recommend the deluxe over the black truffle duck soba.Overall this was a great dining experience despite the few misses. The highlight was definitely the tofu and the deluxe sashimi soba! Chef Shuichi Kotani was very friendly and provided us with some information regarding the concept of his restaurant and the utilization of buckwheat in his creations. Definitely a pleasurable experience and will be back to try their other selections.Thank you for reading and best of luck! (:

Comment: A cozy Japanese soba eatery in Greenpoint. I came on a Thursday for dinner with friends and I did make reservations but they did have a bunch of tables so walk-ins probably work great too. Their soba is made with 100% buckwheat and is gluten free. They have the cutest dishware and tableware, a lot of the stuff seems handmade- they even had unfired clay pieces in the front of the restaurant as we walked in!I tried the Ume Shio Soba which is probably one of the most basic ones, a simple hot soba with a yummy broth. If youre opting for a more flavor bursting dinner, the Towari Soba (cold) was also really good and tasted super umami. If youre a salmon or duck lover, theres also a soba for you. We did get extra noodles which cost $8, its extra cooked noodles and you can add it to your original bowl. For dessert we got the Soba Kanten and the Soba Ice Cream- half of my party was team ice cream and the other half was team kanten. The soba ice cream has a really nice sweet nutty (buckwheat?) taste and I personally loved the Soba Ice Cream the best. The kanten comes with 2 jelly balls, and molasses and soy bean powder as toppings.Come Again? Yes- when Im not making soba at home! I felt like it was a tad pricey- I wasnt blown away but the soba was delicious and the ambiance is great!

Comment: This amazing soba experience surpassed all my expectations. Each bite felt like a journey into culinary artistry, with impeccably crafted soba, soul-soothing soup, exquisite toppings, and impeccable service that harmoniously elevated the overall dining experience. The meticulously decorated dining area provided a captivating backdrop, and witnessing the chefs seamless teamwork in the open kitchen added a layer of fascination. I eagerly anticipate the addition of more items to the menu, propelling this establishment from a high-end soba-themed restaurant to an omakase destination.

Comment: We had the duck soba which was very good. Served warm, with a ton of fresh yuzu/citrus and pepper flavor. My wife had the vegetable soba which is a dish served cold and is the quintessential flavor you think of when you think of soba. We had a tofu appetizer that was surprisingly impressive and unlike any other tofu dish we’ve had. Great atmosphere and space. All the plates were hand made by the owner and were a beautiful touch

Comment: The people here are so kind and welcoming, and truly host you. This place is to savor and slow down and tune into your senses. The soba is amazing as is the seaweed salad, the shiso sorbet, and the soba jelly dessert. The founder is a true master and artist. This place will be hard to get a reservation at in a couple years. Enjoy it now in the early days!

Comment: Had the duck soba and salmon ikura soba. Each had their own taste and profile, but were both fresh and thoughtfully selected. Its not the heaviest dishes, but thats how soba is, and its more interesting than the standard traditional soba. Would recommend the soba ice cream over the sorbet if you have to choose between them. The tableware was exceptionally beautiful! They do take walk ins and we were easily seated on a Friday evening, so dont be afraid if the Resy looks fully booked!

Comment: The soba was really good and tasted authentic. Can’t wait to try more of their options. Love the ceramic bowls & vibe of the place. The service (our server in particular) was a bit strange, she seemed a little off and wasn’t great at answering simple questions about the menu. I understand they just opened and I would come back for the food, so will give 5 stars. Hope they do well!

Comment: One of the coolest restaurants I’ve been to in a while. Everything was absolutely incredible - especially the duck broth and the tofu appetizer - and the chef and owner was incredibly friendly and engaging. It’s really disheartening to read some of the negative reviews that make it clear that the diners didn’t engage with the space to understand the novelty of this concept (a restaurant showcasing buckwheat in every dish??). The chef and owner makes all of the dish ware by hand on a pottery wheel tucked away in the back corner (he’ll point it out to you if you ask), adding even more to the uniqueness of the experience. Please give this place a try if you are open to trying something new.

Comment: Dropped in without a reservation and were lucky to secure seats at 5pm on Friday! The staff were knowledgeable and offered a comprehensive rundown of the venue and its offerings. The soba was nothing short of phenomenal, especially the duck one. I dare say it’s the BEST soba in NYC. Its evident that the chef Kotanis meticulous attention to detail extends not just to the food, but also to the intricately designed tableware and utensils. I’ll definitely come back.

Comment: It’s hard to find a soba restaurant that serves 100% buckwheat authentic Japanese styled soba, and this place is the new hidden gem of New York.I enjoyed the Kinpira, Soba Miso, and Nasu no Nibitashi which were all paired perfectly with a crisp Japanese sake. The Duck Soba was filling and the duck was cooked perfectly, while the Ume Soba had a refreshing and tasty flavor.Just minutes away from the G train at Nassau Avenue. I HIGHLY recommend.

Comment: Uzuki is unlike anywhere I’ve ever eaten in NY! They specialize in 100% buckwheat soba noodles, and also serve a variety of buckwheat small appetizers. The buckwheat tofu and gomaae salad with okra and sesame paste were insane. The duck soba broth is fantastic, as was the uni ikura soba. I was worried that the uni soba dish would come with minimal uni and was pleasantly shocked when 3 enormous pieces came out. Well worth the price. Also recommend trying the gluten free beer!
