The ambiance was also very cute and homey, the lounge music was a bit on the classical/formal side but nonetheless nice.Now the food, I was pleasantly surprised!- edamame butter (5/5): probably the best edamame Ive had to be honest. Yes, its just edamame but the garlic and butter flavoring is not to be missed.- verge red carpet (4.5/5): loved the creativity and texture of this one- Kani salad (4/5): solid and refreshing. Portion size was bigger than expected.- soft shelled crab (5/5): just yum, I could have eaten another one of these. Its a intimate dining setting with attentive friendly service and delicious food. The menu is versatile offering land and sea options. We got the fried rice and we ate every grain, it was so good, lol. The sushi rolls and fish were the best Ive ever had. The freshness of the fish was everything. Melt in your mouth butter texture. We also ordered lamb chops which were seasoned to perfection. The beer was the perfect temperature and our waiter was so friendly and welcoming. I couldnt have asked for a better dinning experience and will always remember this place and look forward to coming back when visiting New York. Id eat there everyday if I could, lol. Thank you!!! Comment: I can’t explain the environment this has been for me over the last month, i’ve been here 4 times, once a week, the quality of the food is more than exquisite, the ambience is calming and i get to really enjoy a meal by myself. the quality of the sushi is so fresh, from the scallop to the uni (my favorite), to the king crab. and the service is so attentive, my host always remembers to seat me at the same bar seat. i enjoyed the scallops the last time i was here so i can confirm they not only put care into their sushi but the warm entrees as well. i’m very lucky to have a such a quality sushi spot so nearby my home. thank you verge.

Food was fantastic, highly recommend the salmon carpaccio, the verge red carpet (fish wrapped in pickled beets is amazing), and, if you’re there for desert, the lava cake was gorgeous, incredibly chocolately without being sickeningly sweet. Verge hit the spot for elevated cuisine without being inaccessible. The best nigiri I’ve had in the neighborhood that rivals some of the better spots in the city. I especially enjoyed the house-made monk fish liver; very interesting as it was such a clean but rich taste, with an extra kick from sesame (?) oil. The salmon capriccio was blowtorched, which gave it a delicious and pleasant texture.We ordered the salmon capriccio, the soft shell crab, the wagyu toast, the verge roll, crispy rice toro and the sashimi. Perhaps it was because we went later during the day, the fried items were a little cold and lost their crispiness. The wagyu toast came topped with king crab, caviar, and truffle - all very high quality and delicious items in their own right, but personally I found it a bit overwhelming on my palette. I found myself drawn to the house-made and pickled items, and the house sauce (some sort of citrus or ponzu) was really great!We hope to come again, and we can’t wait to see how the curation of the limited menu evolves over time. We have yet to find a sushi restaurant we love so we were so excited to hear our neighbors talking about Verge and how incredible their experiences were. We couldn’t wait to try it and it did not disappoint!!My sushi dish was so unique and special. Each peice had multiple layers of such unique and thoughtful flavor. The fish was so fresh and melted in your mouth.We also had the toro appetizer which was incredible - we even considered ordering a second one. Had tons of depth with just the right amount of avocado, rice and then toro on top. My husband had the shrimp hibachi which also tasted great - was super fresh, and had a wide variety of mixed vegetables.Great wine, sake and beer options. Comment: Really happy to have these guys in the neighborhood. Great atmosphere and very fun and enjoyable dishes. The hostess and staff were very accommodating and kind.Salmon sashimi was tender and rich with a great complement of flavors from the roe and spring onion.Rolls were great and a perfect price point to supplement the sashimi-style specials.

Comment: Had the pleasure to eat at Verge during their soft opening. The ambience and service were impeccable. They offer unique Omasake style dishes and everything I had bursted with flavor. Excited to have this in my neighborhood and can’t wait to eat again.

Comment: The lady boss had a long chat with us!It turns out that all the decoration designs were thought up by her alone.It was really great. I had a lot of fun eating and having fun!And now you can bring your own wine without corkage fee!What a magical treasure Japanese food shop! Love it!I look forward to eating better sea urchin next time~

Comment: I’m excited for you, I’m excited for Greenpoint. A slice of upscale Manhattan Japanese fare quietly enters Brooklyn. Thoughtful decor and plating, elegant lighting and atmosphere; Verge will shortly join the pantheon of local, future Michelin stars/nods that is Nura, Wenwen, and Bonnie’s. Chris and his staff are sure to delight. Sit at the bar and enjoy the show that is alluring food, come to life. Definitely go now before the waitlist gets too long.

Comment: February 2024I wish my friend who introduce me to this great restaurant (her favorite place) still lived in the area because we will probably hang out at this place often. She moved to long island, and she gave me a gift voucher as a Christmas gift. I decided to use it on my anniversary, so the night went well and wonderful.This time we enjoy a bottle of Kiku Nigori; nice unfiltered sake.- Toro Tartare; contemporary decoration, looks so much fun.- Paradise; fatty tuna wrap on uni and top with caviar and yuzu sauce (my most favorite)- Verge Rad carpet; suggest by our server, I just want something different and it is creative!- Sashimi Premium 12 pc; I get bigger set this time- Garlic Butter Ribeye Steak; cooked perfectly and I love it.- Lava Cake with Ice Cream; I always have room for dessert.- Hot Green tea; I guess not a lot of people order tea. It is actually more like rice tea than green tea, looks like make the whole pot but charge by cup.Service is great, they still keep the standard, good quality fish and mix modern interior. Garlic Butter Ribeye Steak is so good, if you like stuff from the kitchen. I have Sashimi premium with extra sushi rice (side order) Them advertise the set to be like omakase quality. The price kind of high but I also like it as how good the fish is.Service is good and friendly. When you come to real Japanese place or get service from Japanese people, it will be a character that if you are around long enough you can tell how different and unique, they are.
