Comment: It’s a good place for good sushi. Good~but not great. They’re special rolls aren’t too special, almost seemed like it was all the same base of ingredients, just add/remove some. Was hoping for more variety. The ambiance is nice, great lighting for a cozy vibe. The tea was lovely. The miso soup was nice. The sushi was fresh and good. Unfortunately the music was blasting some intense EDM music, that didn’t fit the atmosphere. It would have been really nice to change the music to something more casual. We ordered the sushi and sashimi for two. We might be back to try other special rolls for more variety!

Comment: A pretty solid sushi spot in Astoria! Surprisingly, they had lunch specials on a Saturday. We ordered the 3 roll combo, the sashimi set, eel cake (one of their special rolls and was my favorite- it consisted of salmon and eel with avocado - layered like a slice of cake) and tuna tartare. Everything was outstanding and fresh. Our server was professional and attentive and always made sure our water was filled. Would definitely come back again!

Comment: My friends, sister and I went here yesterday for my birthday lunch. The food was good, especially the fried calamari which they put fried squid on the receipt (they aren’t the same). The interior was beautiful, sucks they didn’t offer wifi because none of my messages were delivered or received. The bumble bee roll is a good concept and it was yummy but there was no sauce on it leaving more to be desired. Usually for mango rolls, they have mango sauce on it. The appetizers are overpriced imo, if anything of the appetizers we ordered the calamari was the most worth it one. The server put spicy tuna roll and spicy yellowtail roll for my friend’s order which is correct but she received spicy tuna roll and yellowtail jalapeño roll. The food is fresh which is great. The salad is a great portion and it was delicious and fresh.

Happy hour ends at 7pm and is such a social moment, nice running into old friends and neighbors here. Staff is always accommodating and genuinely awesome. Bartender KEITH is ahhhhmazing. Friendly, fast, makes eyes contact and manages to tend the bar and serve the high tops nearby. He makes a delicious lychee 🍸 martini. His partner is also fabulous.We had lots of sushi! Rock shrimp app. Edamame! Will be back soon!My fave sushi spot in Astoria. While many businesses have come and gone, Watawa is still going strong. Great bartender full of suggestions. Fish is always fresh, my favorite roll is the Sea Color roll with no eel, eel sauce is fine. 😅 My go to, every - single - time!And how can I forget the amazing rock shrimp atop a bed of arugula and topped with candied walnuts. Simply delicious. As well as their seaweed salad, that I love to top with their perfectly shredded Kani. No other apps needed! Needless to say, thrilled their up & running again. The ambiance is perfect for a cute dimly lit date spot, or a cute girls’ night out 🥳

Nice laid-back warm vibe inside, ordered the Chicken Teriyaki which came with salad with delicious ginger-carrot dressing, a portion of California Rolls, rice and a delicious chicken breast! Comment: Slow service, good foodService:Stopped in for a nice dinner on a Tuesday evening. It wasn’t too busy but the wait service is slow. The host sits you quick, the assistant brings you water and cleans the tables quickly, after your order is taken the food comes out quick (brought by the assistants) but the waiters are slow to get your order.Food:Soft shell crab app, 4 pieces of sushi, and 1 6 piece roll. $50If you’re going to spend more on better sushi, I feel that its better to go a la carte. I got a scallop, sweet shrimp, king crab, and eel piece. My favorite was the eel which was shocking as it was the least expensive. It was slightly warm which made it almost like a mini unagi don. Sweet sauce and tender meat. I will definitely be coming back for that. Second favorite was the scallop which was a nice thicker piece and tasted perfectly buttery. The sweet shrimp was great and a nice treat once in a while. I wouldn’t recommend the crab, it might not have thawed enough or something, but it didn’t mold to the rice and just fell off when being picked up or trying to eat it. It is real crab though, and tasted fine. Like those crab claws that you would find at a buffet.Soft shell crab was good and came over a bed of lettuce with a ponzu dressing. So you get a salad with it, which is a nice touch. It was pretty but I’ve had better elsewhere.I’d just skip the rolls all together unless you can’t handle the actual taste of raw fish. It tastes the same as any generic Japanese sushi place for about 30% less. The seaweed was also slightly soggy so that it didn’t crunch or break easily when eating.TLDR: Waive down the waiter as soon as you’re ready to order or you’ll be sitting there all night. Skip the roll and get the actual sushi pieces/sashimi. It’s a great place that I’ll be back to when I’m not cranky from a long day of work and want my food fast.

What a fantastic recommendation from the waiter there.I did not stay to eat in. However, I noticed that I found the music not very fit for a Japanese restaurant. Comment: Food and service was great! We got seated immediately and our waiters were very attentive. We started with drinks- generous pours. We ordered some rolls as appetizers - the speciality Fuji roll was very good. High grade quality seafood which was very apparent. We had their nebeyaki udon soup- wow so delicious. I appreciated that it wasn’t overwhelmingly salty and that I could add to taste. I would’ve liked it a bit more spicy but understand that’s my palate. The vegetables were fresh, chicken tender and noodles perfectly cooked (not overdone and slightly al dente). I wish we could’ve tried more but we were so full but the other dishes around us looked very delicious- definitely would go back again. The ambiance was great, very scenic- they have a nice seating section around a body of water.

Comment: Been coming here for ages !! This was the first sushi spot I fell in love with, and their seafood dynamite is a must have ! However, I stopped coming due to their lack of options for their dinner menu items which were pretty basic: i.e.. teriyaki steak, shrimp, chicken, and a few other seafood dishes. However, the ambiance and overall experience with the sushi makes this place a definite must try !
