Comment: My kids loved their ramen & I enjoyed their variety of appetizers.I recommend to go there while they arn less busy in order to enjoy more of their beauty, this way. If you are someone from Asia, dont forget to ask associate that you would love to have your ramen made with a boiling hot temperature soup. It makes your experience & satisfaction much more elevated.

Comment: Great location and ambience with comfortable seatings a block away from Rockerfeller Christmas tree on a busy December Thursday night (arounrd 545pm). Great ambience. Ordered Chashu and soyu ramen and pork gyoza ($7 on happy hour menu) to share. Good noodle texture and sweet bamboo slices, creamy souo. Chashu was cut a little too thick for my taste. The pork gyoza was greasy and not crispy so was meh. Surprising that their happy hour was 5pm to 8pm on weekdays as Id imagine thats prime dinner time. Sapporo only for $6 a bottle on happy hour menu which is a steal in times square!

Comment: Probably the most authentic Japanese food outside of Japan. Try the beef yakiniku (the name isn’t fully right, it should be sukiyaki), it’s so good. If you want chilled green tea, you have to ask for it to be chilled, but that’s the only downside

Comment: Yamas an absolutely delicious, charming, and comfortable japanese restaurant that offers a multitude of proper & tasty meals! We highly recommend the TONKOTSU Ramen, simmered 12-hour broth that tastes savoury & more flavorful the longer I eat it. Try out the special sushi rolls- it pairs well with plum wine. The service is attentive and professional while the ambience is relaxing and cozy. Always a solid choice for us tbh.

Comment: A quite upstairs Ramen shop in the heart of midtown. The decoration takes you away from the surrounding busy metropolis to a quite roadside stall serving heaping bowls or delicious ramen and apps. Just the metal cups is a nice touch on hot days. The thick gelatinuous broth filled with pork jowl meat, chasu, tamago, corn and more hits the spot.

Comment: I had the spicy kimchi ramen with chicken, and added corn. It was really good I enjoyed it. The only thing is I felt rushed to order I was trying to settle down after running errands in the city, the waitress even opened the menu that was placed on my table saying “here order” and stood and waited for me to pick something and order I didn’t like that, also, another waiter kept watching me eat making eye contact I felt uncomfortable.

Comment: Came here a few weeks ago(4.22.23) with some class friends and we all had a very nice and pleasant experience. The Restuarant is very nice and the food was really good, I got the shrimp sushi and it was great. I would definitely come again in the future to try more of the food. The only thing I would say is that the stairs going up to the restaurant are sort of narrow and it is sort of cramped in there especially when it’s busy

Comment: Ramen,Ambience: very loud (mainly due to crowd talking over each other). Very tight (you will literally be bumping into others with the slightest out of the ordinary motions) I do not recommend this place if youre claustrophobic.Service: Decent speed, attentive at taking order despite it being a difficult environment to understand/hear others. Clean.Food: Amazing. Their broth was good, their noodles were just right (neither over- or undercooked). The pork was the best part, I highly recommend getting extra pork. Also for $18.- I think it was worth it.The only reason I took 1 star off is because I think they can sacrifice a table for some comfort, but theyre still full so it may not be financially wise seeing this doesnt really affect their business, and everyone seemed quite content with the setting as is.I would come back again!

Comment: A tiny restaurant that we stopped at on a whim, and Im glad we did. This place has some of the best ramen Ive ever had. The staff was very kind. Comment: The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and is decorated nicely. What can be off-putting is if you have a large group or do not like small spaces as most of their seating is close to other tables, then you may feel some discomfort. Probably with the location, not too surprising with the space they can work with. But the food is definitely worth the experience! If you are reserving a table, make sure all people arrive at the same time as other places do, they wont seat you.The ramen is absolutely delicious and their broth is excellent!! We also ordered their beef donburi which tastes sweet and some sour with their kimchi...BUT it came together so well. We also had their sushi! I would definitely recommend their Top of the Rock roll.

Comment: Nice cozy place located on the second floor by 6th Avenue .. great location, prices are not cheap but if you come here for dinner, their happy hour is from 5-9:30 pm during the week..we ordered California roll from their happy hour and edamame (which had way to much salt so it was impossible to enjoy). We also got tonkotsu ramen which was not bad (its hard to impress me because Im a chef myself) we paid $18 for it .Service was good but not the best, I wish they smiled more often and didnt look like they want you to leave at closing time. They were literally staring at us the whole time which was very uncomfortable..overall experience was good, might be back again )

I went on two separate occasions. I unfortunately didn’t get a photo of the ramen for the first time I went. The second time I went I got the teriyaki salmon bento box during lunch time and it was so good! Comment: This is a sweet, cozy little ramen stop. Servers were incredibly nice, and the inside truly brings you to feel like youre in a traditional Japanese ramen house. Prices were reasonable, and the ramen was both flavorable and huge! Pork belly some of the best Ive had. Willing to take parties over 4 with ease. Definitely will be on my radar for ramen places in the near future :)

Comment: Ramen!!Service 5 starsFood 5 starsPrices 5 starsEnvironment 5 startsI think they have the best Ramen in Manhattan, even NYC. I been looking for the best ramen about 2 years ago and I find it.The portions are really good, they are so tasty and traditional, you can feel that you’re in Asia. The restaurant is gorgeous and comfortable. The service is excellent and kind. The prices are good, i can even say for the service that they give, the food and the environment the prices are cheap.I order for the tableTonkutsu ramen: it was delicious.Veggie ramen: this was the most surprising one because was really good, and it wasn’t spicy ( mistake that the restaurant make when the do something vegan/veggie they make it spicy )Chicken ramen: really good too.

Comment: The ramen was amazing, lovely flavors and toppings. The only bad thing was the egg which was just a regular boiled egg half instead of a halfway boiled seasoned soy sauce egg which is the common in ramen. The pork was soft and tender, melted in your mouth. Takoyakis were too small and octopus not too tender. For these two things I take one star away but honestly, I do recommend this place.

Comment: If you are a Ramen lover, that’s the place. It’s been around for a while and the menu options doesn’t change much but their classics are great. They have other options but for me the Ramen is the go to.The sizes of the bowl are fair and the taste is incredible. They have a good price by the way.Place is not big though, if you’re going on the weekends I suggest you make a reservation, specially if you plan to go in groups of 3 or more.

Wasn’t sure what to expect as we climbed the stairs, and was delighted by the warm greeting and intimate atmosphere. Ramen hit the spot and service was warm and efficient even though they were ready to close for the night.

Comment: Yama Ramen has been around for quite some time, and is a good fallback if you are craving a bowl. The pork broth was decently flavorful, the noodles were a little overcooked. The pork was excellent and tender.A hidden place less traveled due to its second floor placement, great to sit in a quieter spot for a meal.

Comment: The food tasted great! Good portion for the size (for the ramen) and the buns are delicious. I had a reservation but when I arrived there was plenty of seating, although not for long because it started to fill up. Staff are nice and service was good. I cant wait to go back! The seats dont have a back support so just mentioning that in case thats important to someone for accessibility reasons. Also its on the second floor, quite a bit of stairs to take. Other than that it was a good experience.

Comment: This is as close to an authentic Japanese place as possible that Ive been to. Authentic Japanese decor with stools that let you store your bag, authentic Japanese decorations and windows that make it look like your own n a more traditional Japanese place. The staff is friendly, caring but above all the food not only looks good but tastes good! Im definitely coming back here. If youre ever in the NYC area and want some Japanese food give this place a try and dont let the stairs to the second floor discourage you.

Comment: Came here after a celebratory design meeting after 6pm on a Friday. Its a cute little Japanese restaurant with really nice staff. We loved the Dragon Roll and ordered one each. We also had the Angry Ocean, which was better with a bit of soy sauce to balance out the flavors, but the Dragon Roll was perfect on its own.It definitely started to get busier once we were seated. Would definitely go back as its my designers favorite restaurant near his office. Highly recommend.

Comment: I ordered the restaurant week YAMA OMAKASE NIGIRI with tuna rolls takeout. It looks like rolls and nigiri were prepared by two different chefs - rolls fall apart at the seam - I didnt even know it should have a seam, but not enough of nori used - they literally disintegrated as soon as you pick them up, and tuna in the rolls were in several small cubes, not a single piece. That said, everything was fresh, nigri was excellent, miso soup good as usual. I wish they told me they use paper containers, which I support over using plastic, but after handling the bag roughly, it leaked a bit. My fault, no problem.I will try them again for sure, next time - sit down dinner.

Overall, great food. Wish it wasnt so chilly inside. They also stop taking orders from 4-5pm (indoor eaters can still eat, but the kitchen is not open). Also, the seats may be uncomfortable for some (theyre hard wooden stools). I would love to come back though! 🤗

Comment: Fantastic Ramen. Loved the flavor. Highly recommend the Kimchi Ramen for any spicy ramen lovers out there. Every part of it was delicious and savory to eat. And to top it all off, it was only $14 for the bowl (without tax and tip). That is cheap compared to most other ramen in NY.My friend had the tsukemen and tuna salad(?) and he thought the tsukemen pork was too chewy, almost unchewable. The broth/dipping sauce was perfect. The salad was also very nice ~$12. He highly recommends the salad. One downside about this place is that it get super busy around lunchtime, so it will be LOUD. You will have to almost yell if you are talking to someone.

Comment: I liked this place a lot. The ramen was really good, prices for lunch were appropriate and this is totally a NYC gem. They have three options for vegetarians which is always tough at Ramen or some Asian cuisine spots but we went and all three and it was amazing. Their shoyu, miso, kimchi flavor broths were all really good. The kimchi broth, main in the photo is really good heat and good flavor. One thing I would recommend is some variation available for vegetarian to make up for the lack of protein in that option. Maybe add tofu or the eggs for no additional charge. When you walk into the restaurant, it is tough to spot if you aren’t specifically looking for it. Which I love. There’s a quiet hallway to a set of stairs to the second floor. It’s quiet and feels like you are the only one there. Once you get to the second floor and open the door you get hit with a lovely vibe of a hidden secret of NYC. There is a sushi bar to the right and tables for service on the left. They can probably fit about 40-50 people total and it’s cozy. Tables are close and smaller than usual. No frills here. Straight ramen.Service was really good and attentive.I think our favorite part of Yama is they have this roasted garlic chili oil on the table that is absolute bomb! It has just the right amount of heat, and stickiness you get from roasted garlic and has chunks of slivered garlic in the oil. Highly recommended you put this on everything. It’s the like the Franks Red Hot of Yama Ramen, I want to put that s**t on everything :)

Comment: I eat a lot of ramen.I have eaten in a lot of ramen places all over New York City.I have to say, the service was good. The waiters were very very friendly, and we got FREE WATER and ramen arrived very fast. However, the ramen was not as good as other ramen places Ive been to. It was just...decent.I ordered the miso ramen. The broth did not really give me a spark. The bamboo shoots tasted very weird. I did not get any mushrooms. However, what really sold me was that the pork was very very tender and delicious! Not only that, the egg was very nice too.In the end, the garlic oil to the side was what saved the entire meal. It was AMAZING. I poured some oil in every bite I took, and it ended up being extremely delicious.I would come back again...for the oil.
