Comment: Za-Ya has the richest, yummiest Gyukotsu ramen in Brooklyn, and I suspect the city.Paired with some Kitaya sake, this is a must have, and it will heal your soul.Their Spicy Gyukotso Miso is very good too, albeit too spicy for my fragile constitution.Their sashimi platter is outstanding, but I think its a summer thing. They do rotate some of the starters seasonally. The Karaage has GREAT texture, but I think the batter could use additional seasoning, since its a little bland and the spicy mayo it comes with doesnt really do anything extraordinary. (Ill keep trying it in the hopes theyll listen, because its still tasty).Operated by the owner (I think), this is a great local spot for residents of Bushwick and their guests, and its proximity influenced two apartment moves for me - thats how much I love it.Front of house is very friendly as well!

Comment: Have never tasted anything like it before. I ordered the Gyukotsu Miso and my husband ordered the Noboshi. Mine had a deep, rich flavor that was complex but also tasted like home. His was a clear broth that carried so much flavor that you would’ve believe it was chicken based. Would recommend over and over again, especially on a rainy day.

Comment: This is hands down my favorite place for ramen. The staff is amazing and so inviting, the Gyokutsu Miso is my number one bowl in all of NYC. It’s a warm, spicy, flavor packed umami bomb that you’ll always force yourself to finish because it’s so good. I would also recommend the Kaarage and the often off menu Arugula salad. The Kaarage is moist and fried to perfection with so much flavor but still lightly salted which is just chefs kiss. Although not extensive the range of sake and spirits perfectly pair with the small menu in this intimate space. If you are looking for a quiet low key first date. This is the place to go. The staff, the food, environment, and even the tunes will do most of the job impressing your date. So all you have to do is smell good, look good and be ready with good conversation. Za-ya gets a 5 out of 5 from me your Friendly Neighborhood black guy with the Beard.

Comment: It was so delicious that I’m not deducting any stars for the abysmal service last night or the crazy price tag 😭(I’m sure the service is better some times, there was only one waitress last night and she seemed new or something. Unfortunate) she was very nice though and the gyukotsu made me forget all about it 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

Comment: Went here on a weekend date with my lady, from the moment we walked in to the moment we left the staff were gracious, kind and helpful, for an appetizer we had the eel pie which was suggested by our waiter and if I could have it every day I would it was absolutely delicious, my partner had the lunch set and I had the shoyu ramen, both of our meals were cooked to perfection, the staff stuck the balance between helpful and letting you enjoy your meal, also the bathroom was absolutely spotless you could eat off the floor (not that I would suggest such a thing). We will be coming back and making this a regular spot in our restaurant rotation.

Comment: What a wonderful experience! Was greeted and seated immediately by the personable Jimmy, amazing service, thank you sir. Got the Unagi pie for an appetizer and it was spectacular. For the entree, got the Gyukotsu and I will always remember this dish! So flavorful and perfect, everything from the marinated egg (add-on) to the broth to the garlic. Music was a little intense for the vibe. Amazing overall, thanks to the team there!

Comment: The best ramen I’ve ever had! My friend ordered the “Shoyu” then add a dash of smoky fish oil and their spice mix. I ordered the “Miso” then asked for thin noodles and braised short rib, plus the smoky fish oil and a few dashes of spice mix; DELICIOUS! (One critique: I personally would have like more noodles, but to each their own.)The servers were very attentive, welcoming and accommodating. The ambience of the restaurant at night is romantic with appealing background music. (give the playlist curated a raise) Also, they have their own soy candles and fresh flowers, which added a nice touch.

Comment: Za-Ya is a small, cozy, and unassuming japanese restaurant in Bushwick.I admit I entered Za-Ya with a bit of skepticism since I never had a 10/10 Asian dish in Bushwick, but I left the restaurant quite surprised with the quality of the food.Being a ramen enthusiast, my first choice was the Gyukotsu Miso spicy ramen. What made this ramen quite unique and different from all the other aspirated-be-authentic ramen you would try in the city is the beef bone marrow broth and the well marinated, super tender, thinly sliced beef on the top. As someone who does not enjoy eating meat and especially beef, I was instantly in love. What makes Za-Ya stand out from other similar Asian and Japanese restaurants is Chef-owner Iveelt Bayarts creativity and fusion approach to Japanese food.In its simplicity, Za-Yas ramen is easily one of the best I had in the city.

Comment: I dined here on a Saturday evening and this place is a hidden gem! I recommend the following dishes:- Edamame (this is a MUST, the truffle salt is finger-licking good),- Kinpira (not crazy spicy, but had a delicious teriyaki flavor),- cold tofu (surprisingly yummier than I expected, love the spicy crunchies on top),- Gyukotsu Miso Ramen - make sure to add an egg! The egg is deliciously seasoned, and the broth is really tasty, I finished the whole bowl.I can’t wait to return!

Comment: What a delicious meal. Our table tried both the signature and spicy gyukotsu ramen. They were surprisingly different in taste profiles. One very rich and garlicky, and one refreshing with a slight spicy zing. We drank every last drop of broth. I also want to highlight the homemade unagi pie. It’s a flaky melt-in-your-mouth unagi hot pocket you didn’t know you were craving. Will definitely be back again!

Comment: The ramen was good, nothing crazy though. The karagge was tasty. However, the tuna tartare is one of the grossest things I’ve ever eaten. It tasted rancid and was literally served on something that appeared to be a ritz cracker. Really disgusting flavor, definitely do not order that. However, if you’re just coming for ramen, I think this is a pretty solid spot.

Comment: This place is phenomenal! I got the gyukotsu ramen and it was DELICIOUS - the broth was rich and aromatic (indicative of how great the beef broth was made), but not too rich that I would get sick of drinking too much of it (I drank all of it actually). The saltiness was perfect, as I find typical ramen shops to be more on the salty side. This was also the first time I had beef broth based ramen and I loved it. They give two generous thiccc slices of tender meat that has a good balance of lean and fatty parts cooked to perfection. Also try the chicken karaage and shishito peppers - they were delicious as well!To top it off, the service was amazing, the people there are so nice and warm. This was totally worth the trek from Manhattan!

Comment: A ramen spot like this was sorely needed in this area of Bushwick, and I welcome it with open arms!ZaYa is a small but chic spot for amazing noodles and Japanese izakaya-style small plates. The staff is friendly and the restaurant/restrooms are very clean. We ordered the following:Agedashi tofu- this is an favorite dish, but it can often be bland at restaurants. Not the case here- the broth/sauce was flavor-packed, and the tofu itself had the fluffiest texture 🥰Miso ramen- not marked as spicy on the menu, but this bowl had a little tiny kick to it. Very good! Meatless, but with plenty of hearty mushrooms. The broth was milky and tasty.Shoyu ramen- the broth was delicious! Peppery and smoky. Loved the generous toppings.

Comment: Za-Ya recently opened so I decided to give it a try. As soon as I walked in I was already impressed. It’s a big open space that’s well decorated and modern.Food wise everything was a winner. The Karaage had a light and crunchy skin. The meat was very juicy. Highly recommend. I also recommend the gyoza. It was filled with beef which was different but delicious. You could tell it’s made in house.Last but not least was the ramen. I had their signature bone marrow broth ramen. Extremely rich but flavor-ful broth. The short rib was so tender and had bits of fat to add more guilty flavor. I usually don’t care for the toppings but everything they added just increased the complexity and deliciousness of the flavor. Try it!
