Comment: The ramen flavors were unusual and interesting. Beef bone broth was tasty but kind of one note. Egg was great.ButEdamame and truffle don’t really play well.Stay away from the arugula salad. That didn’t have salt at all and the texture was bad.

Comment: Really good bone broth. I wasnt flattered with the noodles or short rib. Noodles were undercooked, rib was overcooked. If youre looking for a general ramen spot, nothing to deter you away but there are so many ramen options in NYC, its not a must visit.

Comment: The noodles are fried thin noodles like Kyushu ramen. The soup also looks cloudy like Kyushu Tonkotsu ramen, but it was Gyukotsu (beef bone broth) not Tonkotsu (pork bone broth), which made the ramen cleaner and tasty. If you know Japanese Gyukotsu ramen like clear consommé soup, their ramen is completely different and worth a try. I would definitely like to come back again.-------------------I came back, and the Gyutan Ramen was amazing. The soup was bold and creamy as i expected, and the Gyutan (beef tongue) was chewy and delicious.

Comment: I have to say I would probably never come in to this ramen store had my Japanese friend not recommend it. The chef is not Japanese and the interior is pretty dated, also not many people in this location so what else can go wrong right? But to my surprise, their ramen is decentLy good. Soup is light but flavorful, chashu is charred and smoky and noodle is fresh and good. Their karaage and unagi pie are also really good. If you are around the neighborhood, please give this store a try.

Comment: I want to place this as #3 on my “Best Ramen in NYC” list. 1st is Cha Menya and 2nd is Ramen Ishida.Za-YaGyutotsu - $18 + $2 (egg add on)Broth - 5/5. BEEF BONE MARROW BROTH. In love with it. A different type of fattiness!Cha shu - 3/5. This is BEEF, not pork. Has the charred and smokiness, tender but chewy. Probably the lowest component of the three.Noodles - 5/5. 17 minutes of thin noodles sitting in the broth, but maintain its firmness. I’m beginning to fully appreciate and embrace thin noodles now.Side notes:Unagi Pie - $10. Flaky and puffy. Sweet eel sauce glaze. Texture of the pastry overpowers the eel.Karaage - $10. Same as mines but crunchier. They definitely added a lot of seven spice to the mayo, which is a plus.Total - $52.26

Comment: Was visiting a relative in the area, and decided to get some ramen for dinner. Because of the pandemic, we opted to order take out instead of dining in, as their house wasnt too far away. The staff here are super efficient and had everything ready to go by the time I came by the restaurant to pick it up -- although maybe too efficient, as they were ready about 30 minutes before the arranged pickup time. As a result, all the food was barely even lukewarm when we started eating, but it was still delicious, so I wont dock any stars off for that.Spicy gyukotsu miso ramen: Yum yum yum. My first time trying beef bone marrow broth, and it was absolutely divine. Hands down one of the best-tasting ramen broths Ive ever tried. There were hints of miso, garlic, and beef throughout. The spice wasnt very spicy, but it complemented the ramen and toppings well. Im rather jealous that my relative can eat this practically everyday if they wanted to. 5/5Unagi pie: Ive had unagi don before, which I like, but I think this takes the cake. Theres slices of marinated unagi & scallions wrapped up in puff pastry, reminding me of a giant curry puff, which is Thai cuisine. Its difficult to split apart for sharing, but it can be done with a knife, albeit itll be a bit messy. 5/5Chicken karaage: Since the food was cold when I picked it up, the karaage was no longer crispy, unfortunately. However, despite the slightly soggy texture, it was still delicious with the notes of citrus and pepper. The spicy mayo was a good dipping sauce for the bite-sized pieces of chicken.Everything I tried here was excellent, I only wish that the next time I come by, I will get a chance to dine in and enjoy the food how it was meant to be enjoyed. The restaurant was empty when I went to get the food, so I think its possible to dine here with a small party, even if you have concerns about the pandemic, as its not too crowded here.

Comment: Hole in the wall, slower service. One of the most memorable ramen bowls Ive had in New York. The bone marrow ramen is unique, get the Gyukotsu for a very distinct bowl of ramen. The straight noodles are perfect for the rich, and surprisingly, not too heavy broth. The bowl size is smaller than typical bowls, which probably contributed to it not feeling overly heavy. Have it with a local Folksbier.

Comment: Good ramen however I thought it could have a little more flavor. I had the shio and the chicken was bland but the broth was delicious. Also they had more noodles than broth which was a bummer. My friend had the Gyukotsu which was delicious but $17 yikes. Each dish they give you 3 pieces on meat so the price is not worth it. They should lower the menu prices by 3-4$ if they want more customers. Fried chicken was delicious and the mochi was okay.

Comment: Ok I drove here, so it was pretty easy to get to, but even if I had needed to be on the subway for an hour with two transfers and a broken AC, it would have been worth it. The food was so good I didnt stop to take pictures. I started off with the unagi pie which was divine. The pastry was perfectly cooked, crisp and flaky all around, and the filling was amazing--so flavorful and tender that Im sure Ill dream about it tonight. I ordered the Shoyu ramen with egg for my entree. I usually get full half way through and cant finish a whole bowl, but this ramen was so good I couldnt stop eating until I saw the bottom of the bowl. I am so full and so happy with my experience. This place is everything ramen should be. If youre debating where to have dinner tonight, stop- youve found the place.

Comment: Please, please, PLEASE, if you are anywhere near Za-Ya Ramen, go out of your way and stop to eat here! My father and I waited 2 hours for them to open because we got there a little after 3:00pm and in all honesty, I wouldve waited all day for their gyukotsu! Their bone broth has layers of sublte, yet powerful flavor while the braised beef adds a fantastic strong tone to the dish. My wife I are HUGE foodies, and weve eaten at many delicious places around the country, and this little hole in the wall is absolutely on my top 5 all-time best places to eat! Comment: We had the shishito peppers and the zuke tuna small plates to start which were both delicious, followed by beef ramen. The ramen broth was excellent. A little heavy on the raw onions but otherwise great. Very good service. Large portions of the ramen bowls, which makes the price seem worth it (a little on the high side maybe). Comment: Great ramen spot for the area. Prices are pretty run of the mill for a decent ramen place--expect to spend around 14-20 plus tip. Which should be big because the service is great and the waiters are sweet and friendly!Broth and noodles are great but toppings are slightly spare without add-ons, yet are all prepared well. One gripe is the very thin chashu that came with the miso ramen, although it was still quite tasty. Not sure about any meat portions with the other beef broth options. All in all, planning on coming back often, myself!

Comment: Excellent Ramen place. Became my first choice ramen place in nyc. I tried their Gyukotsu ramen (beef bone broth ramen) which was on the top of their ramen list. Beef broth is not my favorite type of broth for ramen normally but their ramen quality is superb; I absolutely loved it, so yum! The design of the restaurant is minimal and tasteful. Staff was very friendly. They offer various kind of appetizers and other kinds of broth for ramen like Shio, Shoyu as well. I cannot wait to go back to taste them all.
